Harry has been behind the camera in some of the most memorable cycling films of the past few years - on more than one occasion he had me dressed in retro gear retracing the steps of riders from some insane ride from another era. This week we had some great picks, we go through some classic editions of the race and get to discuss some of those iconic Italian mountains that we love (or hate - depending on if you're riding). Of course, any Giro chat wouldn't be complete without throwing in some of those larger-than-life icons of Italian cycling too. I was so happy to have Harry on for this pod – he clearly loves the race and his knowledge of the details of so many Giri is incredible. Tiana's Bayou Adventure to Replace Splash Mountain by Late 2024Tiana's Bayou Adventure is coming to Walt Disney World and Disneyland. Walt Disney Imagineers have been spending a lot of time in Louisiana conducting research to ensure Tiana's Bayou Adventure preserves the heart and soul of Tiana's story.  Tiana's Bayou Adventure has been described as a love letter to New Orleans. The ride will take you on a musical adventure picking up where the film left off.  We will see Princess Tiana, Naveen and the jazz-loving alligator Louis on an adventure through the bayou as they prepare to host a one-of-a-kind Mardi Gras celebration where everyone is welcome. Theme Music The theme music for Life in the Peloton was composed by Pete Shelley, who was lead singer of the punk band Buzzcocks. It was commissioned by the production company behind Channel 4's coverage of the Tour de France in the 1980s and was used as the theme music for the nightly highlights show. Pete died in December 2018. We were given permission by Pete's widow and his manager to continue using the music for the theme tune to Life in the Peloton. Podcasti "Jalgrattapalavik" seekordseks külaliseks on endine profijalgrattur, Itaalia tipptiimides Fassa Bortolo, Domina Vacanze ja De Nardi - Colpack sõitnud Andrus Aug. Jõgevalt pärit spordimees jõudis maailma tippudega konkureerima juba varajases nooruses. Aug murdis end maanteesõidu Liidu juunioride koondisesse ja pääses võistlema Rahutuurile, maailmameistrivõistlustele jne. Tegelikult paistis ta silma ka trekil. Õnneks või õnnetuseks lõi valus kukkumine Tallinna ovaalil trekisõidu plaanid upakile. Aga Liidu koondis andis vägeva karastuse ning kui palju elukogemust... Näiteks 1988. aasta detsembris oldi koondisega laagris Armeenias, kus toimus ränkade tagajärgedega maavärin. Mitu ööd magati õues, lageda taeva all, aga vähemalt jäädi ellu. Amatöörina võistles Aug Prantsusmaa, Horvaatia, Norra ja Soome klubide eest. Aastad läksid ja hakkas juba tunduma, et profiks saamise unistus kustub. Kuid siis saabus sisuliselt viimasel hetkel päästev õlekõrs Itaaliast, Amore&Vita - Beretta väikeklubist. Sealt hakkas kõik ülespoole liikuma ja nobeda sprindijalaga eestlane jõudis päris tipptiimidesse välja. Kindlasti on väga huvitav kuulata lugusid Mario Cipollini, Alessandro Petacchi, Vincenzo Nibali, Serhiy Honchari, Fabian Cancellara ja teistega, kes mingitel aastatel olid Augi klubikaaslased. Tõeline kuulsuste paraad. Räägime Giro d'Italiast, mida Aug sõitis kahel korral ja mõlemal juhul valusate mälestustega katkestama pidi. Emerald ash borer, which is destroying ash trees in a large swath of the United States, can also successfully complete development on olive trees, according to laboratory tests by researchers at Wright State University. Biology professor Don Cipollini, Ph.D., director of the Environmental Sciences Ph.D. Program, has found that the invasive green beetle can feed and successfully develop into adulthood on stems of the Manzanilla olive tree, a Spanish variety that yields green table olives and is grown widely around the world. “We are showing in this experiment that emerald ash borer indeed can complete development on olive,” said Cipollini. “It would add a potential pest to the olive cultivation industry. If we see this happening in nature, it could be a huge deal.” Cipollini, who has been studying emerald ash borer for a dozen years, announced in October 2014 that the beetle had spread to white fringetree and suggested that the insect may attack other close relatives. Native to Asia, emerald ash borer was first found in the United States near Detroit in 2002. It is believed to have been in ash wood used to stabilize crates during shipping and may have arrived without notice a decade earlier.
