Mahmoud Darwich est l'un des plus grands poètes palestiniens, et ses textes sont profondément symboliques, mêlant l'histoire, l'exil, l'amour et la mémoire collective. Sa poésie transcende souvent la simple expression politique pour atteindre une dimension universelle de l'identité, de l'appartenance et de la résistance. Voici quelques grandes lignes de la symbolique dans son œuvre 1. L'exil et la terre perdue La Palestine est omniprésente dans ses poèmes, mais souvent sous une forme métaphorique. Il la décrit comme une mère, une amante ou un paradis perdu. Son poème Carte d'identité (1964) est emblématique de cette identité spoliée et de la lutte pour la reconnaissance. 2. L'amour et la femme comme allégorie de la patrie Dans plusieurs poèmes, la figure féminine représente à la fois l'amour personnel et l'amour de la terre natale. Le désir amoureux et la nostalgie de la Palestine se confondent, rendant la séparation encore plus douloureuse. 3. Le temps et la mémoire Darwich joue souvent avec la temporalité pour montrer comment le passé et le présent s'entrelacent dans la mémoire d'un peuple en exil. Il exprime la crainte de l'oubli et la nécessité de transmettre l'histoire à travers la poésie. 4. Mission encre noire Tome 37 Chapitre 405. Cet exécrable corps, dissection de la grossophobie internalisée par Eli San paru en 2023 aux éditions Remue-ménage avec des illustrations de l'autrice. Si «ce corps me pousse à hurler», ce sont les premiers mots du texte, il permet aussi d'écrire sur la grossophobie ambiante. Il faut du cran lorsqu'on a mal à la peau, lorsque votre propre organisme vous dégoûte, lorsque votre morphologie devient une véritable prison, pour prendre la plume pour creuser plus profond. Tout en étant admiratrice de leur audace, et de la détermination du collectif, l'autrice avoue avoir de la difficulté à adhérer complètement au mouvement body positive, bien malgré elle. Aucune animosité à cela, de sa part, Eli San partage le même constat, les grosses personnes font l'objet d'une stigmatisation sociale omniprésente. La militante féministe et bibliothécaire montréalaise se met à nu, dans son intimité, dans son quotidien. Si personne n'ose vraiment le faire, l'autrice se réapproprie un champ d'expression de soi, au risque de déplaire. Parler de ses inconforts, des difficultés rencontrées dans sa vie amoureuses, de s'habiller à son goût, de monter des escaliers, bref, que ce soit dans la désinvolture ou l'aveu de faiblesse, Eli San est loin de vouloir se décourager, ni loin de vouloir blesser qui que ce soit. Ses confidences font mouche. Justement, parce que l'autrice s'y révèle vulnérable.Et dans ce miroir d'elle-même qu'elle nous tend, de toute cette haine de soi qui refait surface assurément, elle déclare la guerre aux préjugés: c'est le travail d'une vie. Pour en finir de vivre dans l'invisibilité j'accueille, ce soir, à Mission encre noire, Eli San. Extrait:« (Ce corps) Il détermine à quels stimuli je porte attention, partout autour de moi. Quand je vois une pub qui capitalise sur l'image de la femme, je tombe dans le piège des codes qui font vendre. Ma conscience féministe s'entre-déchire. J'observe les corps des mannequins, je suis appâtée par elles même si je songe au fait qu'elles pourraient casser en deux sous le poids d'un sac à dos. Je me surprends à rêver de me blesser de la sorte. J'aimerais avoir le luxe de choisir d'adhérer ou non à ces codes. Mais confinée à la marge, je jongle entre colère et envie. Vouloir le même corps qu'elles, mais ne rien faire pour y arriver. Vouloir que tous les corps aient leur place dans la société, mais encore ne rien faire, mis à part pondre quelques lignes revendicatrices pour apaiser temporairement ma rage. Je stagne parce que l'autodestruction est un pauvre vecteur de changement. Malgré cette perte, à une dizaine de milliers de kilomètres de ces mille collines, je songe et réalise des histoires cinématographiques qui m'aident à valider mes sentiments uniques et pourtant partagés avec tant d'autres individus de ce monde. Je comprends ce que cela signifie d'être un.e adulte au passé lié à la guerre et au déplacement et qui préfère poétiser ses tourments à travers des fictions au lieu de les reproduire fidèlement. Je comprends ce que c'est d'être un homme-enfant d'expatrié.e.s dont le peuple a été persécuté et consumé par la haine jusqu'à devenir prédateur d'humains.»

137 Years in Prison for Insurance Fraud & Arson How to Deter Insurance Fraud A prisoner seeking relief from a lengthy sentence failed after multiple efforts as a pro se applicant. In Ali Darwich v. Warden Lewisburg USP; Attorney General United States Of America, No. 22-2280, United States Court of Appeals, Third Circuit (October 14, 2022), Ali Darwich, a federal prisoner currently confined at the United States Penitentiary in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania (“USP Lewisburg”), appealed pro se from the District Court's order dismissing his petition for a writ of habeas corpus under 28 U.S.C. § 2241. FACTS In 2013, a jury in the Eastern District of Michigan convicted Darwich of thirty-three counts related to arson and insurance fraud, including seven counts of using fire to commit fraud in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 844(h)(1). He was sentenced to a total term of 1647 months or 137 years of imprisonment. He tried multiple times to avoid the sentence only to have the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit affirmed, and the United States Supreme Court denied Darwich's petition for a writ of certiorari in United States v. Darwich, 574 Fed.Appx. 582 (6th Cir. 2014), cert. denied, 574 U.S. 1200 (2015). Darwich then moved to vacate, set aside, or correct his sentence under 28 U.S.C. § 2255. The District Court denied the motion, in United States v. Darwich, No. 2:10-CR-20705, 2016 WL 146662 (E.D. Mich. Jan. 13, 2016), and the Sixth Circuit denied Darwich's request for a certificate of appealability, in Darwich v. United States, No. 16-1151 (6th Cir. August 5, 2016) (order). Darwich continued to file numerous unsuccessful motions for authorization to file second or successive § 2255 motions. In 2022, Darwich filed a petition for relief under § 2241, which the District Court construed as raising three claims: (1) that Darwich's conviction and sentence are unlawful under United States v. Davis, 588 U.S.__, 139 S.Ct. 2319 (2019), Bailey v. United States, 516 U.S. 137 (1995), and Deal v. United States, 508 U.S. 129 (1993); (2) that he was subjected to selective prosecution because of his race or ethnicity; and (3) that the sentencing court erred by imposing consecutive sentences. The District Court dismissed the petition, concluding that Darwich failed to show that § 2255 was an “inadequate or ineffective” remedy so that his claims could be considered under § 224. ANALYSIS Motions pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 2255 are the presumptive means by which federal prisoners can challenge their convictions or sentences. A habeas corpus petition under § 2241 accordingly “shall not be entertained” unless a § 2255 motion would be “inadequate or ineffective to test the legality of [petitioner's] detention.” A § 2255 motion is inadequate or ineffective only where the petitioner demonstrates that some limitation of scope or procedure would prevent a § 2255 proceeding from affording him a full hearing and adjudication of his wrongful detention claim. On this week's POMEPS podcast, May Darwich discusses her new book, Threats and Alliances in the Middle East: Saudi and Syrian Policies in a Turbulent Region, with Marc Lynch. "The book focuses on how threat perceptions for some states led to particular alliance decisions," said Darwich. "It looks at some historical cases ,but also some more recent cases." "In particular, it's looking at how identity and power into plays in shaping threat perception." "So over time the book also gives an idea of how these processes of identity change. They are very they are very slow in that change, but over time we could see that this interaction between material and identity— it's shaping both how the identity is developing over time, but also the alliance choices made based on threats to identity also shapes how actors evolve and how their roles evolve in the region." Darwich is an assistant professor in International Relations of the Middle East in the School of Government and International Affairs (SGIA) at Durham University.

Andrew träffar Haysam Darwich som precis skrivit boken Dörrvakten som handlar om hans mer än 20 år som dörrvakt på Stockholms allra hetaste nattklubbar. I boken berättar han hur man som dörrvakt ser hur samhället mår och förändras, hur han hanterade tungt kriminella men också om sin bakgrund som flykting och hur han överhuvudtaget orkade arbeta så länge i en sådan miljö. Now, he works full time on his company, JobMine, and is all about helping companies, and potential employees have a smoother hiring process that brings personality to life. Highlights: Background: Youssef was involved in investment banking, and got to a point where he wasn't passionate about the road he was on. He decided he wanted to do something different, and was introduced to the world of startups. Youssef and his co-founder began discussing ideas and tested the idea they liked most, got some traction and good feedback and then focused on building JobMine. What is JobMine: JobMine is a platform which enables applicants to portray their personality when they're looking for a job, and enables employers to find that perfect personality when they hire. Individual companies post specific requirements and then potential candidates upload a video cover letter as to why they are suited for the job they are applying for. Instead of a hiring manager having to manually go through each resume, they can simply select the potential employees they'd like to submit a video. How They Gain Clients: Their mission is two-fold. They sell directly to company's for them to use their application, and then they also team up with networks with users already looking for jobs on their sites. It's a great way to get a large number of users in one shot. Challenges: It can be hard to explain how the software works initially because it's something completely new to the market. It can also be difficult to help potential clients understand exactly how things flow. And to see why this app is so needed for their business. Advice for Entrepreneurs: Get out there and do it. Build that initial product that helps you see if there is market with your product or not. Pay for a little bit of advertising to see how many people click on your idea. That allows you to take off a lot of assumptions before you fully move forward.
