Olympic silver medalist Emma Weyant returns to NCAA swimming competition this weekend at the University of Florida vs Florida Atlantic University (FAU) dual meet. We sat down with Emma to unpack her big Sporti Swim Collection release, which lead SwimSwam traffic for 24 hours, and she dropped this news on us. Emma turned a lot of heads when she decided to transfer from NCAA powerhouse UVA to the University Florida. "It was a tough decision," she explained, but she wanted to be closer to home in Sarasota, Florida. Of course, being a Florida Gator has a lot of upside too. Emma's enjoyed the challenge of training with Olympic icon Katie Ledecky and U.S. distance king, Bobby Finke. Florida's the right fit for Emma. She shares that she did struggled with mental health, looking to peers in the Olympic community for guidance and inspiration. Training through the pandemic, the delay of the Olympic Games, then ultimately making the Olympic podium, took a toll. Emma's back now and in a big way. Her Sporti Swim release, the collab on the collection, specifically, helped to put that one ingredient she wanted into her swimming career--fun.

This year, Lia Thomas won the NCAA women's swimming 500-yard freestyle to become the first openly transgender athlete to win an NCAA Division I national championship, in any sport. While Lia adhered by all the necessary NCAA requirements to participate in the women's bracket (including testosterone suppression), her success to date has come under scrutiny, further augmented by the fact that her victory saw her finishing ahead of Olympic silver medalist Emma Weyant (by 1.75 seconds!!). This week on All About Sports, we cover the concerns raised by athletes and viewers regarding the participation of transgender athletes in women's sports. Is there sufficient evidence to suggest a clear advantage or is a single case of success skewing public perception? Is there a need to a change how sports are grouped by gender to more appropriately account for transgender athletes? In addition, we discuss the future of a swath of other women's sports, including cricket, football, UFC and WNBA! Which sports have done a great job in promoting their female athletes? How to change people's mindsets on sports where viewership is skewed towards male athletes? How has viewership for women's sports evolved in recent years? #liathomas #transgenderathletes #ncaa #swimming #ledecky #wnba #candaceparker #ufc #ufc273 #shevchenko #wcwc --- Leave your comments on thoughts and suggestions for upcoming episodes. Today' main topic: Transgender issues. Sparked by the “controversial” decision by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to sign a proclamation declaring Emma Weyant, a University of Virginia swimmer and Olympian from Sarasota, the "rightful winner" of the NCAA 500-yard women's freestyle swimming championship event, over the first place winner, Transgender woman Lia Thomas. So…no fancy words here. (facepalm) Let's just get into it. Fun Fact: If you listen very closely, hot water and cold water sound slightly different when being poured... Congresswoman Lauren Boebert (R-CO 3) tells Dan Caplis about the resolution she is introducing on the U.S. House floor to recognize Emma Weyant as the rightful champion of the 500 meter freestyle race in NCAA women's swimming. Lia Thomas, a transgender woman born as a biological man, won the race with a time of 4 minutes, 33.24 seconds, defeating Weyant by just 1.75 seconds.

Last week University of Pennsylvania swimmer “Lia” Thomas, formerly William Thomas, became the first transgender athlete to win the NCAA title in the women's 500-yard freestyle. During the award ceremony, Thomas towered over the biologically female runner-ups, including Virginia's Emma Weyant, a silver medallist at the Tokyo Olympics who finished 1.75 seconds behind Thomas. While the "Problematic Women" podcast has been talking about the controversy for months, many Americans just woke up to the reality that men are competing in—and now dominating women's sports. We'll discuss the fear athletes feel in pushing back, and whether Americans should be celebrating Thomas as we did Jackie Robinson, as one NBC News writer suggests. This week we're joined by special guest Karol Markowicz. Markowicz is a columnist at the New York Post with bylines in Fox News, USA Today and more. She was born in the Soviet Union and grew up in Brooklyn, and among her many titles is a mom. She'll talk to us about why she uprooted her family from New York City to Florida, share her thoughts on the Big Apple continuing to force toddlers to mask, and discuss the treatment Russian Americans now face. THE THESIS: The battle against trans-ideology is nothing less than a war to preserve the existence of truth, the human conc ideology is nothing less than a fight to preserve the existence of truth, human sanity and the nature of being human. THE SCRIPTURE & SCRIPTURAL RESOURCES: Genesis 1: 26-26 26 Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals,[a] and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” 27 So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. John 1: 1-5 The Word Became Flesh 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
