About Jennifer JohnsonHi, I'm Jennifer Johnson, and I am a wife, mother of two, and a Registered Nurse in Ontario, Canada. I have spent the last sixteen years of my career in the emergency room of big and small hospitals all over Northern and Southern Ontario. I have personally been a part of all the heartbreak, drama, bullying, life to death moments, and then also trying to cope in the ER during an ongoing pandemic. My debut book- Nursing Intuition: How to Trust Your Gut, Save Your Sanity and Survive Your Career is finally here and it's my rally cry to all the other nurses struggling through this pandemic and finding that they are losing their love of nursing. They (as well as I) are burnt out and depressed and feeling hopeless. The love, caring, and camaraderie of nursing have changed for all of us, and the expectation that we continue to show up to a job that puts our lives on the line is new to us, and we are not doing well. I wanted to put this book out there to let nurses know they are not alone. Bringing back the love of nursing is possible. Now more than ever, we need to support and help raise each other.https://www.linkedin.com/in/jennifer-johnson-bscn-rnhttps://www.rxforgrowth.com/---------------------------------------------------------About Dr. Shanea ClancyFrom witnessing insurmountable trauma to rewiring my brain through intentional transformation and approaches to life, my journey defies the traditional path of a surthriver.A forensic nurse turned mindset strategist who thrives on empowering audiences to shift from survival mode to their peak performance potential. Why? Because I know what it's like to be in the trenches of life, feeling lost, overwhelmed, unworthy, and completely alone. Even while surrounded by those who mean the most.I've sat with stories most people run from. All while my passion, purpose, and identity unwillingly stripped from me. After years of slowly rebuilding a future from scratch, once afforded a second-chance, my passion & hearts mission is to teach leaders, entrepreneurs, and changemakers how to lead with emotional intelligence, dismantle limiting beliefs, and build resilient & confident teams by getting in the trenches alongside them. Why? Because, I also know what the power of belief, hope, mentorship, and unconditional love does to ones soul. I'm living proof that our pasts and mishaps do not dictate our future.Whether we're talking trauma-informed care, mental health, mindset mastery, or moral injury, I'm not just sharing theory and expert insights. I'm also sharing my heart & soul with the tools and critical keys of transformation that changed the entire trajectory of life as I once knew it.https://www.linkedin.com/in/shanea-clancyhttp://www.shaneaclancy.com/-------------------------------------------------When It Worked Podcast

Jenn Johnson learned more about intuition after listening to what her body was telling her. After years of nursing in the ER, she started feeling about what was going on with her patients before tests would clearly show the diagnosis. In this episode, Jenn shares some of the science behind intuition and how she started relying on her own experiences when caring for patients. With all of her experience at the bedside, she also realized that she could use her intuition, that gut feeling we all get sometimes, to get her patients the care they need much more quickly than if she waited for lab and diagnostic tests to come back. Her colleagues respect her as she uses her intuition to quickly communicate with others to get patients treated before they become even worse off. Jenn's book - Nursing Intuition, is finally here! . In the book, she will discuss the science behind using intuition and how she incorporates it into her patient care. Jenn has a wealth of information to share, and I cannot wait to read her book when it comes out. From Self-Deception to Self-Trust: Honoring Emotions After Betrayal In this deeply moving episode, Dr. Kevin Skinner and MaryAnn Michaels are joined by special guest Jennifer Johnson, a clinical mental health counselor and expert in betrayal trauma and sex addiction recovery. Together, they explore the nuanced concept of self-deception—not as a character flaw, but as a survival response often rooted in upbringing, family systems, and emotional safety. They discuss how many betrayed partners struggle to trust their instincts and emotions, often minimizing their experiences or denying them altogether due to social conditioning, gaslighting, or fear of the truth. The conversation highlights the importance of self-awareness, emotional identification, and self-compassion as key steps toward healing and reclaiming authenticity. Jennifer shares powerful insights on learning to honor emotions through body awareness, identifying internalized shame, and rediscovering one's inherent worth. Dr. Skinner closes with a formula: Self-Compassion → Self-Trust = Authenticity—emphasizing that true intimacy begins with being real, both with ourselves and others. ---

Jenn Johnson learned more about intuition after listening to what her body was telling her. After years of nursing in the ER, she started feeling about what was going on with her patients before tests would clearly show the diagnosis. Jenn has been an ER nurse in Canada for many years. Through those years, she was bullied and had to leave jobs because the toxic people she was working with were never dealt with, so she decided to move on. Join me as Jenn and I laugh and cry our way through her story in using intuition in her nursing career. This podcast is brought to you by Ethical Change Agency. Learn more about your ad choices.
