Prayer, otherwise known as communication with God, is a way for anyone to ask for help, plead for forgiveness, or even offer praises to the Almighty. It can be a time to confess our sins and enter into a more intimate relationship with our creator. Prayer can also have a profound physiological effect on us, such as lowering blood pressure and heart rate and even assist in regulating our breathing. It can also help us to focus on the blessings and good in our lives, while calming our spirits.Simply put, prayer can be seen as a good thing, centering our hearts on the one who gives life and provides us with optimism in a world of negativity and pain. For more than 40 years, my guest today has entertained audiences as an internationally acclaimed media personality and musician who has won 6 Emmys, and earned two Grammy nominations. With such widespread success, it seemed only natural that he would continue to garner accolades for his diverse range of talent. But it wasn't until 2015, when he was given 18 months to live due to a cancer diagnosis that he discovered the single greatest thing in his life: how to unleash the power of prayer. With his future looking grim, my guest began to practice what he calls the “power of healing prayer”. Today, nine years later, my guest remains cancer free.Because he is such a believer in the foundational power of prayer, my guest has launched a new online course, “The Secrets to Answered Prayers.” In it, he shares what he has learned about healing prayer in hopes of helping others to develop a more powerful and effective prayer life.John joins us on the Crossmap Podcast to talk about how prayer sustained him through his own terminal cancer diagnosis. Listen as he explains how healing prayer differs from regular prayer, and shares a few tips on how to pray with more authority against sickness and disease.Links to CrossmapCrossmap WebsiteCrossmap Facebook

In this week's podcast, I got the chance to chat with composer Nate Barr, who recently made Emmy history being the first composer to ever have a double nomination in the Main Title category in the same year! Nate received two Emmy nominations in 2013 for Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music for his work on The Americans, which airs on ITV in the UK, and Netflix's Hemlock Grove. In addition to working on the second seasons of both of these shows, Nate has scored all six seasons of HBO's Emmy-winning show, True Blood (airs on Fox in the UK), and is currently also working on kids TV show Tumbleleaf for Amazon. Barr, who began his career with Hans Zimmer, has composed music for more than 30 feature films in addition to his television experience. He has worked with some of the most highly respected directors in the business, including Alan Ball and gore-horror master Eli Roth. This week I had the opportunity to talk to multi-Emmy winning composer Sean Callery, who is currently nominated for his 13th Emmy Award, for Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music for Sky Living's Elementary. This nomination makes Callery one of the most Emmy-nominated television composers. Sean shows no signs of slowing as he continues to work on the third season of Channel 4's award-winning drama Homeland, the second season of Sherlock Holmes-inspired drama series Elementary, and the ninth season of Sky Living's Bones, the longest-running procedural drama on US network Fox.  He is also set to score the highly anticipated 24: Live Another Day, due in April 2014. Known for composing suspense-driven scores on the smash hit series 24, Callery earned 9 Emmy nominations throughout the course of the show, which ran for 8 seasons and also included the 2008 TV movie 24: Redemption.  Of those nods, he won Emmys for Outstanding Music Composition 3 times. Callery was also nominated for an Emmy... See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

On this latest podcast, I talk to Multi-Emmy Award-Winning Composer, Trevor Morris, who has scored a huge array of music for TV, film and games. His film work has taken him from the heights of Mount Olympus in 'Immortals', to the White House in Gerard Butler's blockbuster 'Olympus Has Fallen'. His game work ranges from the hard driving action of EA's 'Need for Speed: Carbon', to a more sedate drive through 'Sim City', and into all out war in 'Command and Conquer'. His TV work has taken him through scifi, fantasy and horror with 'Alphas', 'Moonlight', and '666 Park Avenue', and all over historical Europe, with 'Vikings' (currently airing on LoveFilm), BBC's 'The Tudors', and Sky Atlantic's 'The Borgias'. From his studio in Santa Monica, Trevor's 'violent, yet elegant' work has made him the most Emmy-nominated composer in the last 2 years, and he's hoping to add to his current 4 Emmys and 2 Gemini Awards with his recent Emmy-nomination for the season finally of 'The Borgias'.
