On this episode of the Droid Life Show, we're recapping the big Made by Google event that went down this week! For some of us in this Android world, this is the big one each year, because it often gives us the vision for Google's platforms for the next 12 months and beyond. Whether you like the hardware or not, there is a lot to digest.So we'll dive into the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL (obviously), share first impressions, talk about the notch, figure out who is buying either phone, and which features are coming to your older Pixel or Pixel 2. Then, we'll move into Google Home Hub, Pixel Slate, new Chromecast, and general themes out of the festivities.After that, assuming we have time, we'll get into the Razer Phone 2, new Essential Phone news, the death of Google+, and when the OnePlus is coming.We're still deciding on trivia, but may pass on it this week because of the number of big topics.

Nvidia heeft op Gamescom zijn nieuwe videokaarten aangekondigd, de RTX2070, 2080 en 2080TI. De grootste verandering is dat de kaarten realtime-raytracing mogelijk maken. Maar, wat is raytracing precies? En kun je je met zo'n videokaart echt in een Star Wars-film wanen? In deze aflevering schuiven hardwareredacteuren Jelle Stuip en Willem de Moor aan om Nvidia's aankondigingen uitgebreid te bespreken. Zo bespreken we hoe raytracing werkt en hoe het verschilt van huidige manieren om frames te renderen. Bovendien hebben we het over waarom je nog niet een heel frame met raytracing op je beeldscherm kan toveren. Ook staan we erbij stil wat al dat moois wel niet moet kosten. Ook hebben we het over Android Pie. Google hoopte dat op dag 1 na de release gelijk allemaal telefoons een upgrade zouden krijgen, maar dat is duidelijk niet gelukt; alleen de Essential Phone draait Android Pie, gebruikers van andere telefoons moeten wéér wachten. Essential Phone 2 is reportedly canceled, and founder Andy Rubin is considering selling the company. Some people have gotten hands-on time with RED Hydrogen One, but release of the product is still a little ways off. In addition, BlackBerry is teasing the KEY2, which will have dual rear cameras. His team put it together just before the debut of the Motorola Droid, Android's first real chance to take on the iPhone.
