How does an organization host multiple successful signature fundraising events throughout the year that appeals to different aspects of their donor base? Today, I talk with Joni Krieg, the event chair for the upcoming Women's Council of the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden's A Writers Garden and the events strategic advisor, Dorothea Melzer. Each year, A Writer's Garden give donors and members the opportunity to mingle with acclaimed, well-known authors and artists in the nature, fashion, design, and lifestyle space. This year's event features acclaimed designer Martyn Lawrence Bullard author of Star Style, and Stefani Bittner, author of The Fragrant Flower and Harvest. In this episode, Joni and Dorothea talk about a range of topics including how to discover the ideal writer or panel speaker for your audience, tips on engaging with celebrities and high-profile individuals so they say yes, and how to build a large loyal following for your signature fundraising events.
Einmal nachdenklich, zweimal skurril, dreimal aktuell. +++ Bitte nimm an unserer Hörer:innen-Umfrage teil!

Hey, hey, you guys! This episode originally aired on Patreon March 4, 2021 but I wanted to reshare it her because I get questions on kiddos and speech all of the time.I'm so excited to have a special guest with us today who is going to address many of the questions you have been submitting about your kids and their speech development. Marci Melzer, M.Ed./SLP, is an intuitive speech-language pathologist with 30 years of experience helping people to develop the ability to use spoken language functionally. She is the founder of the online platform ‘Waves of Communication', the author of If it isn't FUN it ISN'T fun: Teach Your Child to Talk Faster Than Speech Therapy, and the host of her own YoutTube channel. Through each of these initiatives, Marci helps families to facilitate language themselves faster, easier, and with a lot more fun than speech therapy, and she shares a wealth of information and advice with us all here today. She begins by explaining her role and work, and then we delve deeply into the world of kids and language. In essence, we look at the development of speech in children, the signs that your child may need help with that development, and some strategies to employ should the need arise. Along the way we also discuss such topics as learning multiple languages, the use of sign language, and how to implement strategies during times such as the current pandemic. What Marcia and I want to make crystal clear is that there is no guilt to be assigned here. There are certain aspects in life that can block the development of speech and stop its evolution, and today we explore some ways to help you address them. I can tell you, we could have gone on for hours talking about this subject, and if you want to learn even more, don't forget to check out Marci's 370 free step-by-step strategy videos on YouTube! There has been endless talk of the “Home Front” during this war. The "Home Front," as in what goes on here in Israel, as opposed to what happens on the battlefield - in the streets and alleyways of Gaza. But, there is - of course - also a home front, or rather many different kinds of home fronts: some are stoic, others less so; some are somehow managing, others not at all. Much to her dismay, Aliza Raz-Melzer's 50-year-old husband Amiad volunteered to go fight. She gave us a glance into her home front. A home front that is conflicted - proud and supportive on the one hand, divided and even furious on the other. The end song is K'She'Ata Kan ("When You Are Here") by Ninet Tayeb. Hosted on Acast. Eye in the Sky (2015), directed by Gavin Hood from a script by Guy Hibbert, depicts the operation of a multinational team aimed at high-level operatives from the Al-Shabaab terrorist group in Nairobi, Kenya. When the British army learns of the location of the suspects, it plans to capture them. But surveillance reveals the suspects are preparing two new recruits to carry out a suicide bombing. British military officials, with their U.S. partner, seek to shift the operation from capture to kill. Officials must decide whether to authorize a lethal drone strike to avoid a possible terrorist attack, despite the possibility of civilian casualties, including of a young girl who is nearby. Eye in the Sky, which stars Helen Mirren, Aaron Paul, Barkhad Abdi, and Alan Rickman (in his last screen role), depicts the new reality of drone warfare and the complex legal and moral issues it raises. I'm joined by Craig Martin, Professor of Law at Washburn University School of Law and the creator and host of the JIB/JAB: The Laws of War Podcast (https://jibjabpodcast.com), which features top and upcoming experts in different aspects of the laws of war.Timestamps:0:00 Introduction4:41 Background for the military operation6:42. This podcast episode provides practical tips for parents to minimize tech time and engage children in meaningful activities that contribute to language acquisition and essential life skills. In this segment, Marci Melzer, a seasoned speech therapist, addresses the challenges parents encounter in raising children in the digital age, particularly focusing on late speech development and the emergence of "virtual autism." Listen in as she and DJ discuss the crucial role of parents as primary language facilitators and as they critique the automatic labeling of late-talking children as autistic. Stay tuned to hear Marci advocate for creating a connected community around children, stressing the importance of exposure to peers and familiar adults to enhance language development and social skills. Marci Melzer is what you might call an "old school" speech pathologist with more than 3 decades of research and development experience from her therapy practice. Marci has personally worked with thousands of clients in medical, educational, clinical, and natural environments, and thousands more have benefitted from her teachings in the 5.5 years she has been coaching online. Over the years, Marci has learned exactly what parents need to facilitate the kind of improvement they want... FUNctional speech that a child can use with everyone.TIMESTAMPS• [2:34] Marci categorizes late-talking children as "virtual autism" due to over-diagnosis and lack of speech therapy.• [10:58] Marci argues that today's children are "parented by tech" due to increased screen time and decreased parental involvement.• [12:44] “Technology is not teaching children important life skills, such as taking turns in talking and learning about the value of hard work and budgeting.”• [18:12] DJ & Marci discuss the importance of giving parents the responsibility to teach their children, rather than relying on schools to provide the necessary support. For more information on the Imperfect Heroes podcast, visit: https://www.imperfectheroespodcast.com/Connect with Us!DJ Stutz -Website: https://www.littleheartsacademyusa.com/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/littleheartsacademy/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/littleheartsacademy/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOpphCRklDJiFXdS76U0LSQRumble: https://rumble.com/v449rkoDJ Stutz Booking Link: https://bookme.name/ImperfectheroespodcastONE ON ONE COACHING Link: https://www.littleheartsacademyusa.com/courses/one-on-one-coaching-bundleMarci Melter -Website: https://www.wavesofcommunication.com/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/wavesofcommunicationFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/wavesofcommunication/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/wavesofcommunicationAmazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09MJ3K798/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=marci+melzer&qid=1638451001&sr=8-2
