In this episode of The Next Level Health & Fitness Podcast (formerly The Key Nutrition Podcast), Craig and I dive into the growing conversation around ADHD diagnosis. Craig, a licensed clinical therapist, has worked with countless individuals diagnosed with ADD/ADHD, and through his experience, he's discovered that not everyone who receives this diagnosis truly has it. Before jumping to labels and medication, he believes in first addressing key health and wellness factors that can play a massive role in focus, attention, and overall mental health. We also break down a powerful mental health supplement stack that can help support cognitive function, mood, and focus—things that everyone, diagnosed or not, can benefit from. If you've ever wondered whether you (or someone you know) really have ADHD or if other lifestyle and nutrition factors are at play, this is an episode you won't want to miss. At the end of the episode, I also share an exciting new case study I'm running with a group of dads looking to get in great shape while balancing the challenges of fatherhood, partnership, and life. If you're a dad who wants to level up physically without sacrificing the things that matter most, stay tuned! Interested in working with a coach? All right fellas. Today's episode is all about getting our bodies in the best shape possible so that we can be physically fit as Dads but also serve as healthy role models for our kids. Dr. Anthony Balduzzi, the founder of the Fit Father Project, knows a thing or two about helping busy dads get into tip-top shape as they get older and be the best parents they can be. He's already helped over 47,000 Dads in over 100 countries do it, and I'm thrilled to share this chat with you today. We're not talking just about diets and workouts. Anthony believes that we need to find what really motivates us to get and stay healthy, and I couldn't agree more. And you know what motivates me? Being fit and energized for my kids and wife when I'm old and gray. Enjoy! In our conversation, you'll learn: Workout, nutrition, and lifestyle routines for being strong, energized, and full of life as you age. The biggest misconceptions men have around their health. Strategies for helping your family embrace a healthier lifestyle. Some of my favorite moments of the conversation: Don't wait for the wheels to fall off before prioritizing your health. How Anthony primes himself for crushing each day. Nutrition and workout routines for building muscle and losing fat in your 40s, 50s, and 60s. Why you should bump your calories up on training days. How to have extreme workouts without the added joint stress. How to create a culture of health in your family without skimping on Taco Tuesdays. Why a Continuous Glucose Monitor can be a game-changer for your kids' health. Foods that stabilize blood glucose and reduce inflammation. It took Anthony five years to start making money online and years more to create a multi-seven-figure business. Success requires patience. Why women love passionate men. Paul and Daniel discuss the art of balance in the body as well as all other aspects of your life as a father, partner and being in this world.
On this episode, Asher Rubinstein discusses how to create to increase productivity throughout your day as a busy dad. This productivity formula will teach you how to optimize every minute and get whatever results you are looking for. This was a truly inspirational talk that you will get so much out of. Asher's productivity formula: 1. Goals What are your goals? Make sure they are... Specific: so you know when to celebrate and when to keep working. Achievable: so you don't subconsciously give up Attractive: Genuinely desirable, so you stay motivated Timebound: By when will they be done? So you don't keep delaying perpetually. 2. Essence How do you want to FEEL when you achieve your goals? Embody these feelings using regular personal practices. So that your subconscious state is empowered to work towards your conscious goals. 3. Strategy What is your method? Receive a method from a trusted expert who has already walked the path. Don't re-invent the wheel. 4. Lifestyle Structures Task management: What tasks will you complete and in what order? Time management: What is your weekly schedule? Set aside an hour or two each week to reflect on your priorities and map out your following week. Make sure that the way you spend your time matches your priorities. 5. Execution Take action consistently to harness the power of habit Periodically review your progress and refine your strategies to maintain a strong sense of progress 6. Community Surround yourself with people who share your goals and your values and will encourage you to succeed. We are MASSIVELY influenced by our tribes. Find a tribe that matches your goals. 7. Mentorship Stay close to people who have already achieved the results that you want. Borrow faith from their success. If they did it, then you can too! 8. Shadow work Face the parts of yourself that are scared, anxious, ashamed or resentful of your goals. When we ignore our shadows, they control us. When we face our shadows with love, they become our biggest supports. Recruit a therapist or a coach to support you in this process. 9. Accountability Hold yourself accountable with checklists Recruit an accountability partner or a coach to hold you accountable too. On a weekly basis, go through your Celebrations, your Challenges and your top 5 Commitments. 10. Always act from love, not fear Fear will burn you over time Love will empower you over time

Darren Kirby has undergone an empowering journey of transformation since 2013. From a lifestyle of city living, Darren transformed the way he was existing, until now, when he has become one of the country’s most accomplished triathletes, and who’s now in contention for the world championships for 2020. Darren joins Angela to discuss the way he turned his life around, and the practical ways in which you can do so, too. KEY TAKEAWAYS The biggest change Darren made to himself early on was with his nutrition. Research taught him about macro-nutrients, fat types, carbohydrates. When the weight started coming off, the fitness also began to improve. Darren had a profound emotional experience when he completed his first triathlon. The work you need to do in order to cross the finish line, is what drives him to do better each day. You can either eat food that is nutrient dense, and that will nourish you. Or you can eat processed foods, which are devoid of energy. But further than that, processed foods actually deplete you, as your good nutrients are used in order to process these bad foods. Exercise in the morning is very effective for starting the day off well. Sleep is something Darren has doubled down on this year. He is asleep by 9:30pm. There are many benefits to keeping the same sleep pattern throughout the week. Blue light reduction is also essential to good sleep. Any detailed or focussed work that Darren needs to do, are best done between his morning routine and when his children wake up. After lunchtime, he feels a dip in focus. Transforming your life is entirely possible. Using Darren’s Busy Dads programme will kick-start your own transformation and get you started on the road to health. BEST MOMENTS ‘You can get away with things until your early twenties, but by your thirties, it starts to take its toll’ ‘I’ve never felt like I wanted to stop’ ‘Calmness is a banned word in our house’ ‘Find something you love to do, and it won’t be an issue. "Dondo!" --G Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse manages to have something that very few big screen adaptations of the wall-crawler have had: heart. I think that this is the only thing that the cross-dimensional versions of George and Kevin can agree upon. Come with us now on a journey through the Multi-Verse as we encounter the single versions of George and Kevin, the NPR-ized incarnations and the one, true version: The Busy Dads. Traditionally there is a lot of support for new mums. Dads, however, don't get as much of a look in. Grant Lyndon from Busy Dads is working to change that. He's started a "New Dads" group where dads can come together and share stories in a safe environment. And he's got a few ideas on how to get them there.
"Mark Twain." --Kevin 1996 might not be known as the best year in Science Fiction, or maybe it is. I don't know. I didn't exactly do any research on it. However it was the year that the Philip K. Dick short story SECOND VARIETY was adapted into the movie SCREAMERS, starring Peter Weller and Jennifer Rubin. Kevin and George (the Busy Dads) bounce judiciously between the two in recounting their experience with another classic tale of Artificial Intelligence come to life. Join us! "NOPE!" --George What does one talk about when everything that can possibly be talked about has been talked about? This is the dilemma that confronts the BUSY DADS as they take a long, hard (hah) look at STAR TREK 2: THE WRATH OF KHAN. A paramount achievement of not only Star Trek, but of Sci-Fi in general. Kevin, an uninitiated wanderer in the world of Trek, and George, a Klingon speaking Trekkie/er that still pretends he is commanding a starship when he's in the shower, take your hand on this miraculous journey. You SHOULD be scared!

"I love chaos!" --Kevin Kevin and George talk about the movie that the entire planet has seen twice. The culmination of 18 movies and 10 years of movie making and it, SOME HOW, did not manage to let George (a dedicated Marvel fanboy) down in the slightest. Come and listen to find out how this movie was JUST LIKE Kevin's 8 year old son's birthday party All this AND MORE as the Busy Dads take on AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR! Grant Lyndon from Busy Dads and author and journalist Kerri Sackville jump behind the desk, using their wisdom and grown up skills to dissect the news of the week with parental precision (so, a little rough around the edges). From the laws around sharing photos of children online, outsourcing boring parenting jobs, to whether or not they have play favourites with their kids, and the kick a** women who stuck it to the man by absolutely crushing it while pregnant (Cardi B at Coachella anyone!?)

"That doesn't sound right. That sounds negative." "It sounds fecal." How can one movie make George go from crying during the viewing to throwing a keyboard at Kevin while discussing it the next day? How can the same movie have Kevin pontificating about the mortality of the Cyclops in the Odyssey and also begrudging Jared Leto for not looking homeless enough? How can one movie elicit such different responses from two ENTIRELY RATIONAL (I know) people!?! How?!? This is the paradox of the movie MR. NOBODY. "Oh, so we're still talking about the birds and the bees here." --George We have just recently watched WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES (I know, we're late). So, the Busy Dads decide to go back and talk a bit about all the Planet of the Apes movies. To George they're an integral part of his childhood science fiction experience, to Kevin it's just some apes throwing poop. See who wins. In this week's wrap, author Kerri Sackville, and Grant Lyndon from Busy Dads talk with host, Shevonne Hunt, about whether there is a crisis of masculinity in our culture, how to help your child navigate friendships with "mean" kids, how they do "me" time, and how they've dealt with the creative/weather-inappropriate clothing choices of the small humans in their care. "Is BLACK MIRROR the visual answer to everything that I critiqued about BRIGHT?" --Kevin Everyone's darling dystopian Sci-Fi series is back, but this time there's a bit of a twist. We start off the season on a bright palette homage to original Star Trek? Say what?! Join the Busy Dads as we discuss the beginning of the fourth season of Black Mirror. "Whatever you do don't pull your punches!" --Kevin Star Wars is known the world around. It's pervasive and it's iconic. The Busy Dads have watched the most recent entry into the Star Wars saga, THE LAST JEDI directed by Rian Johnson (Brick, Looper). We share a bottle of seltzer and discuss whether or not it's possible for a movie called STAR WARS to actually NOT be STAR WARS. We also talk about whether or not that really matters and how much are we going to try to NOT like something even in the face of floating, frozen people in space. Come and listen to us overly dissect a movie that we both really enjoyed in order to please the inner fanboy that wants desperately to not like something that the higher self wants equally desperately to love. Also, we make jokes about turning loveable Disney toys into sex dolls. So, there's that. Also, lets us know what YOU thought. This was a divisive Star Wars movie and we want to know what you thought as well, listener. "The meditative quality of this meditative movie was moving." --Kevin In a continuation of our return to some of the classic of Sci-Fi, and in anticipation of the sequel, the Busy Dads will finally take a look at the Ridley Scott iconic film that is BLADE RUNNER. Kevin and George discuss why this movie is important now and why it's important to both of them. There is some talk of comparison to the seminal work by Philip K. Dick on which the movie is loosely based as well as talk about any expectations we have for where the universe could go in the next movie. So, get your Replicants out of retirement and join us for Episode 47 of the Busy Dads Do Sci-Fi Podcast. Replicants our of retirement? That doesn't make any sense! "That's the opposite of having a gift, George." --Kevin How could you possibly condense 40 years worth of comic book stories, told across multiple titles and timelines into one movie and have it maintain all the appeal of the original material? Well, you cannot. BUT...if you just want to make a kick-ass, really fun Sci-Fi Comic Book movie with some great characters and memorable moments then you hire James Gunn.
