Join Stephen and I as we kick things off sounding like old men talking about the days before cell phones, using actual maps and how much of the pre technology nostalgia will the youth of today explore before realizing things are pretty good now? From there we dive into the bands latest album, Dissenter, (out now) and much wild it is to hear a band 20+ years into their careers still pushing the boundaries of who and what their sound is. Stephen talks about the process and intention behind those decisions and how scoring films really inspired the cinematic feel to this album, down to the narrative of this record. What he hopes fans take away from this album and much more in this reflective episode with the Haste The Day vocalist. Send us Fan MailWe caught up with Haste the Day guitarist Scott Whelan to discuss Dissenter, the band's seventh full-length album, out now via Solid State Records. In our conversation, we explored the significance of returning with their first new record since Coward, how the band rekindled its purpose following reunion performances, and how Dissenter balances Haste the Day's signature heaviness with a more cinematic, layered scope. We also talked about the album's themes of cycles, collapse, and reflection, the collaboration with Garrett Russell, and what it means for a band more than two decades deep to feel creatively reborn. From legacy and perspective to what lies ahead, this was a candid look at a band entering a powerful new chapter.Stay connected with Haste The Day, visit: https://hastetheday.com/, https://www.instagram.com/hastethedayofficial/, and https://www.facebook.com/hastetheday/Stay connected with IUF, visit: https://interviewunderfire.com/

Mikey, Tom, and Justin talk music, hockey, and anything else that gets in their way. Tom and Mikey are lifelong friends that grew up on Long Island during the glory days of alternative music where our local bands were As Tall As Lions, Brand New, Taking Back Sunday, Bayside, The Sleeping, Envy on the Coast, you get the point. We spent many nights together at The Downtown, catching any pop-punk, indie, hardcore, or emo band that came through. This was not a phase, Mom! Fast forward 20 years and we are still just as passionate about the scene as we were during our girl jeans and youth XL band tees days. Tom and Mikey are diehard New York Islanders fans, but Justin (Bolts fan) likes to remind us that we are not an Isles podcast. As we got older we realized we can like more than one thing and running beside our love for music has always been our love for hockey. We have realized we are not alone in this thinking, actually there are many of us that love these two things! This podcast explores just how connected they are!
On this episode of The Rumors Are True, Jeremy sits down with Stephen Keech, best known as the longtime front man of Haste the Day, to unpack his journey through one of the most influential eras of metalcore. The conversation dives into Stephen stepping into the band during a pivotal transition and helping shape albums like Pressure the Hinges, as well as the intense touring years that built their passionate fanbase. Together, they reflect on the band's early momentum, their eventual breakup, and what it meant to come back years later with renewed purpose and perspective. Jeremy and Stephen also explore the deeper personal side of his story—life beyond the stage, including his evolution in faith, family life, and how his beliefs have shifted over time. Stephen shares how growing up in a faith-centered environment and later navigating the music industry challenged and reshaped his worldview, giving him a more nuanced and personal understanding of spirituality. That honesty brings a refreshing depth to the conversation, especially for listeners who have followed the Christian hardcore scene and its changing identity over the years. The episode rounds out with a look at the present and future of Haste the Day, including their recent resurgence and new music on the horizon. Stephen talks about what it's like revisiting the band's legacy while still pushing forward creatively, and how the fire to create heavy music never really left. It's a candid and insightful discussion that balances nostalgia with growth, giving listeners both a behind-the-scenes look at the band and a meaningful perspective on life, music, and staying true to your calling. Join Dave, Scott and Stephen and I as we catch up with the latest going ons in the Haste The Day world. We talk about the bands latest single, Burn, and resigning with Solid State, and how all of that came to be as well as what the guys are looking for at this stage in their careers. We get a bit heavy and talk about the ending of the band and subsequent reformations over the years. What it was like to deal with the back and forth nature of having the band be in and out of their lives. The guys open up about the struggles of being labeled a "Christian band" and the hardships they faced having to live up to others perceptions of who and what they were supposed to be. We look back on "Attack of the Wolf King", hear some funny memories recording "Meet Me Half Way" and how it was dealing with that record not performing well then versus how the perception of that record has changed in the decade since its release. Hooray for Intros!

This episode is a continuation of the previous Haste The Day chapter with Jimmy Ryan, who was not a Tooth & Nail kid but found his way into the scene. Jimmy helped build a legendary Solid State band and then walked away from his dream. This left a giant hole which provided the opportunity for a Tooth & Nail kid if there ever was one, the multi-talented Stephen Keech, to walk into to a fairytale dream-come-true scenario and knock it out of the park - taking Haste The Day to an even higher level of success. Jimmy Ryan, the original lead singer of Haste The Day, is in a rare category. His band was a breakout hit in the pinnacle of the Tooth & Nail/Solid State golden age, but Jimmy was NOT a Tooth & Nail kid. The rest of his band certainly were as they were youth group kids from a nice Indianapolis suburb when they joined forces with Jimmy. He was considerably older than them and, for better or worse, became the "tour dad.” Jimmy may not have grown up as a Tooth & Nail kid, but he was a perfect fit to continue the tradition of Solid State bands who would bring the intensity to the mission of mosh and ministry; he even ended up working at the label for a season! Yes, we talk about it. This week are joined by master interviewer Jon Beatty of Jon’s Untitled Podcast. We talk about the (powerless?) rise and fall of As I Lay Dying as well as the elephant in the room. Jon interviews Dan, Joe, and Geoff and gets our real opinions on Tim Lambesis. Also, we touch on pop music tendencies of the time, Haste The Day, a spoiler for ‘Nu-Metal May,’ and we try to answer the ultimate question…. Did As I Lay Dying kill the 80s once and for all…..? 2012 was a great year for new albums from artists such as Thousand Foot Krutch, The Violet Burning, War of Ages, The Burial, Metanoia, Showbread, and Project 86. It was also a year where a number of significant bands called it quits. Even though we are well into 2013 The Antidote thought it would be fitting to have a final send off to these artists. Listen in as we say goodbye to Thrice, A Plea for Purging, Haste the Day, Underoath, and A Children's Crusade.
