Joining Dr Louise Newson on the podcast this week is Jen Moore, a campaigner dedicated to raising awareness of endometriosis and adenomyosis. Jen started experiencing endometriosis symptoms at the age of 11, but it took her 22 years to receive a diagnosis of endometriosis, adenomyosis and fibroids. By this stage organ failure was a risk and she required multiple surgeries, including a hysterectomy. She has since become committed to helping other women – from speaking out to creating research projects. Here, she shares three things she believes women with endometriosis can do to make a difference to their future health: Find a specialist – someone you can ask as many questions as you want, because if they are genuinely a specialist, they will not be afraid of answering questions. Don't feel like you have to do it alone. You have your medical team, but you also need a team outside of the hospital. It doesn't matter who it is, even if it's somebody online, just reach out. There are so many of us who are just happy to help even if it's just to talk. Keep going. When you get your diagnosis, you can think awesome, everything's going to change. But then you realise, that's just the start of it – you've got this wait list to get treatment and it can be a long slog. It's exhausting, but it's important that we do. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession- to the praise of his glory.” Ephesians 1:15–23 “For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength, which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.” Ephesians 2:8–10 “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God‘s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.“ Ephesians 2:13 “But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ.“ Philippians 1:6 “being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

DEARG: Delivering Endometriosis and Adenomyosis Resources and Guidance
Summary Jen Moore, aka Jen.dometriosis on social media, is an endometriosis and adenomyosis educator, speaker and campaigner. Following her 22 year long battle for a diagnosis, she now helps others suffering with these conditions, as well as working to create change on an institutional level. She has worked with the BBC, NHS, University of Cambridge, and global pharmaceutical companies; as well as contributing to research, books and consulting for national charities. Jen is a UN Women UK delegate for the 68th Commission on the Status of Women, where she is determined to include endometriosis and adenomyosis in these vital and high level discussions.Jen is also the founder of two Endometriosis based research projects. The first, Endo Education, is looking at the current state of medical teaching in the UK when it comes to endometriosis. The second, the They Said What?! project is a deeply personal piece of work, collating the lived experiences of medical misogyny faced by those suffering with the disease. In this episode, Kathleen chats with Jen, about her journey with endometriosis and adenomyosis. They discuss the importance of accurate information and definitions, the impact of misinformation and lack of education, the role of healthcare professionals in education, the hope for change and future generations, and the importance of sharing personal stories and accurate information on social media. Jen shares her experience of upskilling and educating herself on endometriosis and adenomyosis and provides advice for others who want to do the same. This conversation covers topics such as misinformation and media influence, the power of social media, the "They Said What" project, the impact of medical gaslighting, raising awareness for adenomyosis, and the emotional journey of a hysterectomy. It also discusses the complexities of post-surgery pain. Takeaways Be cautious of misinformation and sensationalised headlines in the media and on social media. Stay curious, ask questions, and think critically about the information you come across. The They Said What project aims to document and amplify experiences of medical gaslighting and dismissal in women's healthcare. It highlights the need for change and exposes the widespread issue of medical mistreatment. Adenomyosis is a condition that is often overlooked and misunderstood. More awareness and research are needed to address the impact of adenomyosis on individuals' lives. The emotional journey of a hysterectomy can be complex, and individuals may experience conflicting emotions. It is important to provide psychological support and acknowledge the significance of the choice to undergo a hysterectomy. Post-surgery pain can persist even after a hysterectomy and excision, and additional work may be required to address other pelvic pain generators. It is essential to have realistic expectations and explore all available tools for pain management. Introducing Voice No. 2 from the Mortal And Strong project... Jen Moore of Jen.dometriosis. Jen is infamous for her incredible advocacy work on Endometriosis and Adenomyosis. Jen shares with us her horrendous journey of having her heavy and painful periods dismissed for over a decade before discovering she had stage 4 endometriosis and adenomyosis leaving her with organ damage and needing an hysterectomy in her 30's. As ever with MAS we discuss the reality of living with an invisible disability, the disruption to Jen's career as an internationally successful baker and the impact on fertility. With Dr Liz as presenting we again have a unique insight and medical explanation of the poorly understood gynae conditions, address some of the myths and stigmatisation surrounding these conditions. It is wonderful to have Jen speak with us; Jen has overcome the lows of realising her condition is incurable but has since then gone on to create a global platform for endometriosis support as well as now working to make institutional changes to medical school curriculums for better education to allow for earlier disease intervention. Her story is now available on all podcast platforms and more videos will be released in the coming days. Visit our website and social media platforms to find more videos and information around Jen's story and the other Voices discussing women's health issues as part of the 2024 MAS project.Mortal And Strong is a UK project to empower humans with stories of strength and resilience through art. In a bid to address social stigmatisation of disease, support and empower others on their own journey, and address gender inequalities in health. This week is part two of my interview with Jen Moore, and empath and author who helps other empaths understand themselves and how to deal with the world. Last week we talked about what exactly an empath is, the unique challenges of existing in the world while feeling others emotions as your own, and why we can all benefit from moving towards empathy whether we identify as an empath or not, and today we're talking about boundaries. This is another word, like empath, that gets used a lot, but we don't always know what it means. Jen takes us through how to set boundaries that are useful and flexible and grow with us, and also how to avoid violating other people's boundaries in an attempt to make ourselves feel better, especially if you're an empath. I do want to let you know that we briefly discuss eating disorders and suicide, so please take care when listening if these are triggering for you. Jen first got into keeping bees more than 10 years ago and quickly realised: that real ecology is more complex than we can ever imagine, that everything fits together in remarkable and wonderful ways and that just keeping honeybees in hives is far from the answer. Now she talks to schools and young learners about the other 274 species of bee, about butterflies, flies and wasps, about their relationships with plants and about how we need to protect our environment in a sensitive, meaningful way. She aims to dispel myths and misunderstandings and to help nurture a new generation of active naturalists. As ever, check out our website for pictures: www.livingbeeing.com

The Moore’s daughter, Macie, was diagnosed with Leukemia (ALL) when she was three years old. Hear how they processed the initial diagnosis, along with the realization that a long, two-and-a-half year treatment regimen was ahead of them. The Moore’s talk about the concerns they had in the early days after the diagnosis and two huge things God used to prepare them in advance to get through those times. They emphasize the role their church played in keeping them grounded and the vital nature of their involvement in a small group. Finally, the Moore’s elaborate on their idea of pain for a purpose and how their story has provided them opportunities to be who God created them to be.
MaineHealth Accountable Care Organization (MHACO) serves a uniquely heterogeneous population that is spread across coastal, rural, and urban communities with multiple different cultural components. And they serve the oldest population of all states in the Union! The organization's ED utilization in its early years was historically around 775 visits per thousand – a significantly high number when compared to other ACOs in the country which were well below 700. At the same time, the ACO was about 10% lower than other ACOs in providing primary care services. Find out how MaineHealth was able to implement a Value Oversight Committee, leverage technology, improve processes, and engage their workforce to achieve nearly $20 million dollars in savings in its first year of contracting with CMS in the Medicare Shared Savings Plan. In this episode we speak with Jennifer Moore, MBA is the president of MHACO, whose membership includes 10 acute care hospitals and over 1,600 private practice and employed physicians, and manages numerous commercial ACO value-based contracts. These ACO contracts cover approximately 230,000 Medicare and commercial lives. In Feb of 2017 Elizabeth told her story on this podcast. She was episode number 2. If you haven't had the chance to listen to it then just pause this and go check it out, it is so powerful! Also you keep listening to this you will hear a spoiler for that episode...you have been warned! You can read the summary of that episode and see more portraits of Elizabeth over on The Gardenia Project page of my website here: https://www.jendeanphoto.com/blog1/rewriting-your-story I asked Elizabeth to do a follow up podcast and she said yes, because my story feels so different now then when I told it 2 years ago. What she didn't quite understand then was that fear was still crippling her life and holding her back So today we will hear what happens when we re-write our story. Elizabeth tells us about how she learned that she has the choice of choosing love over fear. Our stories can be healing if we allow ourselves to see that transformation can happen when we choose to rewrite our own stories and learn from them instead of continuing to let them hold us back. Not an easy task, but something that can change our life for the better! This podcast is a labor of love and we aren't in the black quite yet. So we thank our sponsor Jen Moore of Modern Medicine Lady and Empathicmastery.com for her support. If you wanted to gift us your support financially we would be grateful. You can do that over on patreon.com/thegardeniaproject

On this edition of Making Oregon, we chat with Jen Moore, founder of Jem Nut Butters. With extreme dedication to craft and quality, she makes healthy nut butters we can’t live without. As a healthcare professional from Bend, Oregon, Jen became an entrepreneur after a long, dedicated career in exercise physiology, dietetics, and director of extensive health education programs. What she brought to her entrepreneurial endeavor, besides a long history with patients and clients, were high quality standards, tenacity, a hunger for learning, and humility. She didn’t pretend to know more than she did. She asked for help and built lasting relationships all along the way. In our podcast, we ask Jen about her unusual childhood in Idaho, how she found her way to Bend, Oregon, and how experimenting with chocolate truffles eventually led to her nut butter epiphany. Our conversation digs into the building blocks of a sustainable, scalable manufacturing company. We’ll unpack vocabulary like the Triple Bottom Line, and Jen will explain what functional food is all about and how her recipes are based on the needs of our body's systems. But Jen’s experience covers more than steady growth and a winning product lineup. She’ll talk about the hardships she faced dealing with consumers and regulatory agencies, and how she stuck to her guiding principles even when she faced a total product recall.
