Too often we move on without any true resolution. This we are talking to Jocelyn Freeman of Meet the Freemans and she walks us through some strategies and ways we can repair and take accountability without resentment. 1. We just had a big argument and are at a stalemate, how do we repair? 2. Our argument got heated, we took a break to cool down, but when we talk about it and try to repair we end up getting into an even bigger argument. How can we stop this cycle? 3. POV: I always feel like I am initiating the repair and taking accountability, but my partner isn't. I am feeling disconnected and frustrated which is leaving me to feel resentment. What can I do so I am not the only one saying sorry? 4. How can I get past the self-righteous mentality in arguments? Aaron and Jocelyn Freeman ("The Freemans") are authors of The Argument Hangover, creators of The Couples Workshop (which has sold out over 50 times), and coaches to thousands of couples worldwide. They are best known for their relatable and actionable tools and skills for couples to communicate better, fight smarter, and handle any challenge as a team. We’re talking about healthy relationships on this episode of Back Doc Talk. What does that have to do with back and spine health? A lot.  With power couple and relationship coaches Jocelyn and Aaron Freeman at the helm, this episode examines how back and spine issues can affect your relationship and vice versa.  Physical pain influences how we feel and how we interact with others, and developing a conscious awareness about how that affects our loved ones is critical. Aaron dissects the difference between pain and suffering, while Jocelyn explains the importance of setting expectations.  A sudden injury can change your life considerably, and dealing with the pain can feel like a burden to a partner. One way to address this is by more clearly defining roles and responsibilities when a family member is dealing with pain. This helps ensure there’s a discussion around expectations and to avoid leaving family members disappointed.  Helping a partner who is managing pain is a balancing act — one that can be strengthened by better understanding how your partner communicates. No one is a mind reader!  Tune in to this episode to discover how you can improve communication about back pain and prevent spine issues and injuries from wreaking havoc on your relationship.

They met through the Genius Network and it seemed a serendipitous series of events, enough so that they found the Universe was bringing them together!   The Freemans are sought-after relationship coaches, and have worked with celebrity couples, public figures, and thousands of couples around the world, and have shared the stage with Tony Robbins.   They join the show today to share practical tools and situational examples to help you improve your relationship.   Key Takeaways: [:45] Sachin welcomes the Freemans to this episode and gives a little bit of background on how they met before diving right into who they are and what they do!   [5:17] Your grand vision takes time, energy, and support from others, so do relationships — especially in times like these where we’re all cooped up together.   [8:20] Be mindful of the effort you put into the relationship as well as the part of yourself you dedicate to them.   [9:33] Your assumptions about your partner’s level of satisfaction may be erroneous. Aaron explains why your answer to the question ”How is your relationship going?” may be a poor reflection of the reality as well.   [10:55] Self-assessment: give yourself a score on how you’ve been doing in your relationship when it comes to: Communication Conflict Connection If you want the full picture, try it with your partner!   [15:08] Skill 1! Does this pandemic have you feeling like you live with a roommate? The Freemans offer a path to finding more romance — and no, it isn’t candles — it starts with raising your level of identification.   [20:18] A relationship or partnership is its own entity, like a business. A vision statement for your relationship is a good start — you can even include your kids!   [25:03] Skill 2! Dating? Flowers? Gifts? Those are bonuses, and it turns out romance isn’t tied to those. The Freemans offer that you should check into your love account for an imbalance between withdrawals and deposits. They also offer tangible examples of how you can increase your deposits and prevent unnecessary withdrawals.   [31:33] Skill 3! Don’t let it linger! Working through dissatisfaction quickly will improve behavior. Satisfaction check-ins are a great tool to add to your work belt, The Freemans offer their worksheet as a base to start with.   [38:06] Skill 4! Disagreements… Acknowledging that you cannot influence real change when coming in from a negative standpoint. Jocelyn and Aaron share the ways you can in fact improve your chances of influence through empathy.   [44:36] Accountability, consistency, and proactivity are key to making certain your relationship objectives are reached. The Freemans touch on three steps that can help you find empathy for your partner during disagreements.   [51:14] The 4 communication personality types! For a deeper dive into those, as well as an opportunity to win some free stuff, grab the book: The Argument Hangover.   [53:39] The Freemans open up a Q&A with the audience and Sachin opens up with his first question! Do you have any tips for introducing these concepts into the home? How do you have deep conversations with a partner that goes silent in those situations? The Couples Workshop/dates? Do you have an affiliate program? How do you implement these tools when things are heated? What to do if a partner says they’re interested in personal development but they don’t follow through? What’s the most common issue you see with couples and how do you guide them?   [1:16:55] Sachin thanks today’s guests for their wonderful and useful insights and signs off until next time.   Mentioned in this episode Genius Network The Argument Hangover, by Jocelyn and Aaron Freeman The Couples Workshop/dates   More about your guest Learn more about Aaron and Jocelyn on Meet the Freemans and find them on LinkedIn   More about your host Sachin Patel How to speak with Sachin Go one step further and Become The Living Proof Perfect Practice Live sachin@becomeproof.com   Books by Sachin Patel: Perfect Practice: How to Build a Successful Functional Medical Business, Attract Your Ideal Patients, Serve Your Community and Get Paid What You’re Worth The Motivation Molecule: The Biological Secrets To Eliminate Procrastination, Skyrocket Productivity, and Get Sh!t Done

The topic of trust kicks the show off when Jocelyn discusses trust from both a personal and professional standpoint, and Makenzie shares how much this business is not only testing her trust but being brave enough to face it. They discuss the Delighted By team; the beliefs and how they stay true to it, even when there is a lot of pressure inside the natural foods industry to do things which don’t align with our values and mission. After a series of questions were asked through the Delighted By Instagram, both Jocelyn and Makenzie took turns addressing them. There were questions like, “What did it take to start getting the product to shelves?” “Is entrepreneurship hard?” “Where is the company located?” and “Who or what motivates you?” They also discuss the upcoming Delighted By brand refresh; how the opportunity came about on a team Zoom call, why and how we want to reach new customers, and how by listening to what current consumers told us we were able to make sound decisions and run with them. The show ends with a conversation around the industry, visions, and even how Jocelyn has so much energy. “The best personal development on the planet is having your own business.” – Makenzie Marzluff Show Resources: Delighted By products Delighted By mission Using Trello for organization Having some Kakao Ceremonial Drinking Chocolate to set a daily tone Contact us! A little about our guests. Aaron and Jocelyn both grew up to be very different people from the power couple they are today. Aaron was an athlete and kept his guard up when it came to women. Commitment was a foreign word and he even tried to break up with Jocelyn, even though he knew she is the one. Aaron studied to be an engineer, wrote a book with his wife and is now a published author, speaker, and social entrepreneur. Jocelyn was self-conscious growing up. After spending too many years looking for external validation, she decided to go deep. Jocelyn spent several years transforming herself. She fell in love with who she became and when she stopped looking for validation from the outside, she was ready to meet her partner. Before writing a book with Aaron and creating their speaking and social entrepreneur business together, Jocelyn was a registered nurse. A little about their business. Aaron and Jocelyn sat down and wrote a book together, The New Power Couple. Their mission is to get couples on the same page with a clear direction and purpose. They’ve created workshops and speak about being new power couples. One piece of advice (the nutshell version) Everyone has a particular set of skills and a message. Find out what your purpose is and follow the dream. Not just for yourself, but for the people out there waiting for your message.
