"[Kevin Feige] inserts his creative ideas into everything," Yuille said. "So, he and Victoria Alonso, they're the masterminds of the MCU, so of course, there were definitely notes. I don't want to get into specifics, but that definitely influenced the look of the Clandestine's Veil and some of the decisions in that scene in order to tell a story."   Marvel Studios Has Hired an Official MCU Timeline Keeper https://thedirect.com/article/marvel-studios-mcu-timeline-official-exclusive https://www.cbr.com/she-hulk-jessica-gao-timeline-keeper-mcu/ She-Hulk: Attorney at Law head writer and producer Jessica Gao told The Direct that Marvel Studios has someone whose job it is to maintain continuity within MCU projects and ensure a cohesive timeline. Gao mentioned this when asked about where She-Hulk falls in the MCU timeline, saying, "It's definitely after– post-Endgame. There actually is a Marvel person whose job it is to trace the timeline of everything. And we checked with him a lot about where the timing is. And so it's like... the show is a few years after Endgame."   Marvel's Hailee Steinfeld Returning In Multiple MCU Projects https://thedirect.com/article/hailee-steinfeld-mcu-marvel-return-projects As reported by The Direct, the Hawkeye actor is expected to return after being included in an article on the official Disney Latino website about Marvel superheroes you need to know before seeing Phase 5 of the MCU. The now-deleted list included the following entry on the Marvel archer: "Kate Bishop, a character played by actress Hailee Steinfeld, was introduced to the public in the Hawkeye series and is one of the members of the Young Avengers in the comics. An admirer of Clint Barton / Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), the young woman decides to follow in his footsteps. Besides being an archer, Kate is also an excellent fighter, with knowledge of different martial arts, as well as being an excellent fencer."   Florence Pugh's Black Widow Will Reportedly Lead the MCU's Thunderbolts https://www.cbr.com/florence-pugh-yelena-black-widow-lead-thunderbolts-mcu/ During a recent appearance on Matthew Belloni's The Town podcast, Justin Kroll of Deadline discussed Marvel Studios' Thunderbolts, describing the upcoming film as a Pugh-led spinoff. "[Florence Pugh] has got the Marvel superhero that's already got a spin-off," Kroll said. "Upcoming for her, actually, on that character is this Thunderbolts film, which is basically Marvel's Suicide Squad. Hopefully, it has better results. But the concept is it'd be her leading the team of like Wyatt Russell's [John Walker], Daniel Bruhl's [Zemo], those anti-heroes that aren't exactly good but aren't exactly bad. So there's that. And people seem to like the Yelena character."   DISNEY+   Echo Star Confirms the MCU Series Has Wrapped Filming https://www.cbr.com/echo-alaqua-cox-confirms-filming-wrap-marvel-mcu/   Ben Kingsley to Reprise Trevor Slattery Role in Marvel Studios' Wonder Man Series at Disney+ https://variety.com/2022/tv/news/ben-kingsley-trevor-slattery-wonder-man-marvel-disney-plus-1235338010/ https://www.cbr.com/trevor-slattery-ben-kingsley-cast-wonder-man-mcu/ While details on Marvel's small screen take on the classic character Simon Williams, a.k.a. Wonder Man, have been scarce since the initial reports of its development this past June, the series can now point to its first cast member; a familiar one at that. Indeed, Variety has reported that Kingsley will reprise his role as Trevor Slattery on the upcoming Wonder Man television series, although the nature of the character's involvement on the show remains a mystery. Regardless, the series will mark a third run for the esteemed Academy Award-winning actor, having played the picaresque part in 2013's Iron Man 3, and, after a long hiatus, in 2021's Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.   ‘She-Hulk' Star Ginger Gonzaga Sold Her Own Clothes to the Show's Costume Department https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-features/she-hulk-ginger-gonzaga-nikki-ramos-tatiana-maslany-1235208253/ https://www.cbr.com/marvel-paid-she-hulk-ginger-gonzaga-personal-clothes/ Gonzaga, who plays Nikki Ramos on the Marvel Cinematic Universe series, told The Hollywood Reporter about how her performance in the series was impacted by wardrobe. "I didn't feel comfortable as Nikki unless she was wearing something a little defiant or something that she shouldn't be wearing at work or something that's a little too high fashion and really racks up her credit cards," she said, crediting She-Hulk costume designer Ann Foley for her willingness to collaborate with her. The actor's input on Nikki's fashion choices was so influential that the studio began buying Gonzaga's personal clothes from her for use in the show. "I lost a lot of [my] wardrobe on this job, but they paid me for it," Gonzaga said with a laugh.   Disney+ Confirms Loki Season 2's Rating https://thedirect.com/article/loki-season-2-rating-disney https://www.cbr.com/loki-season-2-expected-tv-rating/ According to The Direct, Loki Season 2 has been rated TV-14, which is the same rating Season 1 received back in 2021. The second season of What If...? also landed a TV-14 rating. Almost all of Marvel Studios' Disney+ series have been rated TV-14, essentially PG-13 for television, except for Ms. Marvel and I Am Groot, which received TV-PG ratings since they were aimed at younger audiences. Marvel is expected to debut its first TV-MA show with the animated series Marvel Zombies.   Marvel Paid a 'Heavy Price' to Use X-Men: TAS' Iconic Theme Song for the Reboot https://www.cbr.com/marvel-paid-heavy-price-x-men-tas-theme-song/ During an appearance at the Steel City Con in Pennsylvania, X-Men '97 consultant Eric Lewald revealed Disney and Marvel Studios paid a "heavy price" for the rights and had to jump through a number of hurdles. "[The X-Men: The Animated Series theme song] wasn't a done deal necessarily when they were producing the new show," Lewald said. "The rights were all over the place. I think a secondary person had the rights to the music, so it was a negotiation for them. Obviously, you can't do the new show without that song... But the guy selling it knew the same thing, so I'm sure it was a heavy price."   Will Ms. Marvel's Clandestines Return? VFX Artist Shares the Answer https://thedirect.com/article/ms-marvel-clandestines-return-exclusive https://www.cbr.com/ms-marvel-did-clandestine-villains-survive-revealed-mcu-disney-plus/ In an interview with The Direct, Ms. Marvel's VFX Supervisor Kevin Yuille revealed that the Clandestines are 100% dead and that the VFX team worked hard to make sure that the Veil scene made it look like they were dying instead of going back to their world. "As far as the crystalizing, that's another thing that had gone through so many versions. There was this decision that, for storytelling, they didn't want them to look like they were going back to their world," he revealed. "So, if we broke them up like hard light and they break up and they turn into these pretty little dots, it almost looks like 'They made it! Oh, they're home!' So they're like 'No! We gotta make sure they look dead!' It's tough to do a shot like that, and you worry about looking cartoon-y, but that was for storytelling, to say absolutely, 100%, they did not make it."   FEEDBACK [50:15]     New Message From Your Podcast Page - "Legends of S.H.I.E.L.D.: A Marvel Studios TV & Film Fan Podcast"   From: Rosemarie Ferri   Message:   Try your public library for the DVD's. Every week I'm anticipating and practicing the Doo Doo Do Do Do when getting into the news. You have talked in the past about ways to make the Theatre experience better and with it really being the Golden era of Television what with the streaming wars and all. I was wondering what would you do to make the TV experience better? If I ran Cineplex (or what ever it is now that they were bought out) I would create a premium season pass that would allow a theatre full of people to get together each week to watch the latest episode of a series. Then I would create a lounge area that would be reserved for those in attendance to discuss the episode they just watched. I would gladly pay a premium price to bring that level of community into my TV experience. Would love to hear your thoughts! P.S. in your last episode Daniel called Gareth Edwards “Gareth Evans.” You're welcome

"HOLD THE PRESSES! This just in..." Episode 19 of The Words Are Not Enough is a Bond 25 Emergency News Update! In this episode Griffin (@griffschiller) and Brody (@brodyserravalli) discuss the following:1. Bond 25 has found a DP* Earlier in the week, Variety's Kristopher Tapley broke the story that Academy Award-winning Swedish DP, Linus Sandgren (best know for La La Land and First Man) will be joining Bond 25 as Director of Photography, saying "It appears Linus Sandgren is shooting the next Bond". IndieWire has now confirmed this story, citing Sandgren himself as their source. 2. Seydoux to return* The Daily Mail's Baz Bamigboye reported that Cary Fukunaga had confirmed Lea Seydoux's return to the franchise, offering the concise comment "Lea will be returning".* Variety's Justin Kroll then corroborated Bamigboye's reporting, stating that a source had confirmed the story to Variety. * What this return could mean for 25 (continuation of Spectre's story) * What kind of role will Madeleine play in the movie (OHMSS-style death speculated among fans) - we weigh in * Confirms that Monica Bellucci probably won't be returning as rumoured (although does confirm they were looking to bring a Bond girl back for 25 - something Barbara Broccoli has been trying to do since TND)3. Casting call for two women and a villain* Kroll also reported that "EON is looking for two other actresses - one would play an MI6 agent who works with Bond and another, a mystery woman - as well as the Bond villain."* Alleged insiders then added that "Rami Malek was being eyed for the [villain] role, but his schedule on the last season of Mr Robot, which shoots from March through July, makes it unlikely he will be able to take the gig, even if EON offered him the part". * Does this mean Blofelwill not be returning as the villain?4. Harris, Whishaw, and Fiennes to return* In his conversation with Cary Fukunaga, Baz Bamigboye also confirmed that Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw, and Naomi Harris would be returning as M, Q, and Moneypenny respectively. Cary seemed eager to work with the returning crew and the rest of the British talent likely to fill out the cast saying "You have some of the best actors in the world here, why wouldn't I have the best coming back?!" * Interesting that Rory Kinnear as Bill Tanner was not included in that list of MI6 regulars returning as he has been a staple of the Craig era Vauxhall.5. Cary Fukunaga suggested to be writing Bond 25 in addition to directing* In Justin Kroll's Variety piece, Cary Fukunaga is reported to now be writing Bond 25. In the article, Fukunaga is listed as the sole writer two times and no reference is made to any other writers. Bamigboye suggested that Purvis and Wade were on-board to write and that Fukunaga was having "major input" in the direction of the script, but this does not appear to have been based off of new information obtained during his interview with Fukunaga. It is very likely Bamigboye is basing this off of the uncited rumour that Bond 25 would be going back to using the Purvis and Wade treatment following John Hodge's departure. Fukunaga rewriting the film lines up with his earlier comments from last week about the film still being written. * Confirms earlier story that EON were looking for a writer/director for Bond 25 * If Purvis and Wade are in fact out - were EON looking for a writer/director because they were keen to rewrite/replace their original treatment6. Norway as a Bond 25 filming location* Norwegian outlet, Bergens Tidende, has reported that a filmed dubbed "B25" has applied for a 25% subsidy of costs intensive for filming in Noway. This was then corroborated by Norwegian film commissioner Adrian Mitchell who spoke to Oslo newspaper, Dagsavisen, and said the following "I can confirm that we have been in contact with... --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/the-words-are-not-enough/support

Download the Stardust app and follow us at gschiller! https://stardust.app.link/Invite Cue the music because it's time for Episode 13 of The Words are Not Enough! In this episode Griffin (@griffschiller) and Brody (@brodyserravalli) discuss the following:Tomorrow Never Lies* Danny Boyle and the Fate of Bond 25 * As I'm sure many of you are aware, the frontrunner to Direct Bond 25 is now Danny Boyle. * The story first broke on February 20th from Justin Kroll at Variety. * Boyle has keen interest in the project and has always wanted to direct a Bond film. He is currently developing a project for Working Title, but with no cast currently attached, there is always the possibility of pushing that movie back to direct the 25th installment in the series. * Boyle has long been in MGM and Eon's sights to direct a Bond movie, going back to 2012's “Skyfall” and 2015's “Spectre.” * Sources tell Variety that “White Boy Rick” director Yann Demange was considered a top choice for the job, but there's been one last push to go after a more well-known name. * No official offer has been made. * Then a follow up story from Mike Fleming broke just the next day with more details: * When he directed the opening ceremonies of the 2012 London Olympics, Boyle helmed Daniel Craig in a filmed bit that involved an action scene with a cameo from Queen Elizabeth II, so there is history between the actor and filmmaker. Boyle had an idea for a very specific 007 movie, and he and his Trainspotting partner John Hodge have teamed up to work out the beats. Hodge is writing that version and if it all works out, that would be the 007 film that Boyle would helm. * Hodge won't be done for a couple of months, but when he turns in the script, one of two things will happen. MGM and the producers will like it enough to shelve the movie they were contemplating — the listed writers are Neal Purvis & Robert Wade, whose 007 credits include Skyfall, Spectreand Casino Royale — and they will instead make the version that was cooked up by the Trainspotting team. Otherwise, Boyle won't direct the film and it will be back to the other script, for which MGM and the producers had assembled a short list consisting of a trio of cool directors * Now all that is well and good, but here's where things get interesting. * On March 6th, According to THR, it was reported that Yann Demange, who was heavily rumored to be a frontrunner on EON's list of potential Bond 25 Directors, will not only be directing the upcoming Matthew McConaughey film “White Boy Rick”, but has also been tapped by J.J. Abrams and Jordan Peele to join the team on HBO's new series “Lovecraft Country”. * Demange will direct the pilot episode and executive produce the series. * So at this point it would seem that MGM and EON's backup is looking to be unavailable, thank God for Danny Boyle right? Well, it may be even trickier than we thought. * On March 4th, According to THR, Danny Boyle and Love Actually screenwriter Richard Curtis are teaming for an untitled comedy just set up at Universal. Details are being kept under lock and key, but it is known to be musically themed and set in the 1960s or '70s. Universal is eyeing a shoot as early as this summer, if the casting can come together. * If the project gets the green light, this could serve as a tricky road-bump for the producers at EON should they like the script Hodge producers. * It would seem that progress on Bond 25 is back to step 1, however just yesterday, March 8th, and interesting story emerged from Baz Bamigboye at The Daily Mail. * It would appear that 007 himself is pulling out all the stops to ensure Danny Boyle does in fact helm the next Bond project. * Craig... --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/the-words-are-not-enough/support

On June 23, 1858, the Catholic Church removed 6-year-old Edgardo Mortara from his family in Bologna. The reason they gave was surprising: The Mortaras were Jewish, and Edgardo had been secretly baptized. In this week's episode of the Futility Closet podcast we'll tell the story of little Edgardo and learn how his family's plight shaped the course of Italian history. We'll also hear Ben Franklin's musings on cultural bigotry and puzzle over an unexpected soccer riot.
