Following Jesus in Your Lifestage

Titus 2:1-10 We're all trying to follow Jesus, but Lifestage plays a part in how we do this. So as a Father, I have to follow Jesus by correcting my children even when I dont feel like having a fight. As a teenager, following Jesus might be trying to care about school, even though you don't…but that's where God has you. Both mean following Jesus by mimicking his selflessness and endurance, but it plays out differently based on Lifestage. The point of the text we're going through here is this: The church is at its strongest when we're all following Jesus according to the life stages that we're individually in and when we help others do the same. www.griggschurch.com

This week my guest is the impressive Henrietta Norton: nutritional therapist, author of the best selling book: Take Control of Your Endometriosis, founder of visionary food supplement brand - Wild Nutrition, and I'm very lucky to not only count Hen as a colleague but also a friend.  I couldn't invite Hen back on the podcast without asking her to share more about her Food-Grown® supplements - which have revolutionised the supplement industry for the better…. We discuss the groundbreaking Perimenopause Report that Hen wrote to change the way our daughters experience perimenopause and this theme continues  throughout the episode discussing perimenopause symptoms and support, the challenges of managing perimenopause as a woman, the importance of education, the art of listening to our bodies, the value of rest in regulating our nervous system. There are so many wonderful golden nuggets within this podcast episode and Hen is a dream to talk with and so inspiring to listen to.

Mike and Ryan begin a new series: "Keeping Your Church on Track." In this series they are first talking about factors that can "derail" a church or take them off-track from their primary calling. Today's first topic is life stage. The life stage of your congregation impacts how you engage in ministry. At every stage in the life cycle the church responds differently to change, leadership development, new ministry,  discipleship, and community engagement. Understanding your life stage helps your church to navigate it better. The resource Ryan references in the episode is The Hidden Lives of Congregations by Israel Galindo.

Filmmakers love to tell stories. My guest this week was named one of the top 25 event filmmakers on the planet. His company, Lifestage Films, is most known for their destination weddings. Learn what it's like to go behind the lens and how Matt gets to create long-lasting memories for brides, grooms, their families, and even businesses. Matt studied International Business at Appalachian State and then went on work with a non-profit in Acapulco, Mexico. Matt's job was to help raise money for an orphanage. He came up with an idea to make a video and that's when his love for filmmaking was born. When he moved back to the states he started to think about what he could do to continue his passion. He soon realized a niche in the wedding industry that wasn't being met. There were plenty of videographers that documented weddings but Matt wanted to do much more than that. He wanted to tell stories with audio and video. Matt's idea has grown into more than just weddings. He now gets to tell the story for businesses. Matt is a storyteller, not a commercial maker. His sister company, Harvest Filmworks, creates 2-3 minute brand identity films for corporations and businesses. Known for their aerial work with HD quadcopters, they had the pleasure of filming the largest home in the United States: The Biltmore Estate. One of my favorite and compelling films by Harvest Filmworks is with Hometown Hires, a company using a unique initiative to hire skilled people that just need a second chance. Matt and his buddy Ryan created Studio Sherpas to appeal to entrepreneurs. A sherpa is a guide that helps others. Their webinars and online training aim to help business owners increase profits without losing their creativity. With amazing guests and relevant topics, the Studio Sherpas podcast will give you actionable items you can actually do in your business – and in your life – to help you get the most out of it all. Check out the podcast on iTunes and Spotify. Their webinars and online training can be done anytime and anywhere, in the comfort of your home, office, or even hotel room. Over the last few weeks we have looked at values and personality as important aspects of creating a business that attracts people to you.  Today we look at the third component - Life Stages. If you don't know where you are and where you want to go, how can you plan for the future? You need to know what you want in order to set your business intentions.  What age are you is the first thing to look at in Life Stages.  Age can often determine your current values and life priorities and these need to be understood when building and designing a business on your terms.   Life stages is all about timing and what capacity you currently have in your life. Entrepreneurship is about understanding where we are and planning for what is coming up. When do you want to retire? What do you want to do when you retire? Retirement is about being able to choose what you want to do.  Once you know what you want retirement to look like, map out how long it is going to take you and what you need to do to get there.  Intention, time and lifestyle are all key factors. It can take 5 to 10 years to make a remarkable business.  Five years to get a business that can create a lifestyle income and another 5 years to make an asset to sell. What are your intentions for the next 5 to 10 years, map out what it is going to take to get there and then consider what you will need to get there.  We will dig deeper next time into Resources, what you will need to have to get you to where you want to go.   Take action this week by visiting the Life Stage module at Social Star University.

Midlife Love Bytes! | Relationship | Insight | Psychology | Healthy Love | Transition

It's not a scandal; it's NORMAL! Learn how the psychosocial navigation of midlife is just a life passage affecting every single one of us. According to Erik Erickson, it occurs between the ages of 34 and 60 and includes four objectives Beth covers as we navigate the polarities of Generativity and Stagnation. Learn how central personality questions help to complicate the process and how they can be a key to helping you decide between RED flags (or deal-breakers) and PINK flags (your internal signals that are just invitations for growth!) You are already engaging the area of EVALUATION in relationship! Now get smart about it and make the distinction between reasons to break-up and reasons to regenerate in midlife and grow! Burning Question from Lydia, a 58-year old grandmother of two and in a relationship for the pat year and a half with an old beau. She's torn between her newish/old man and the pull toward her grandchildren and children. She wants to know how to evaluate fairly the connection with this great guy. Erik Erickson says the psychosocial crisis is decided AS people interact with their environment and engage their creativity. People in this life stage have these objectives: Managing a career. Can include evaluating the meaning of it, making a difference, midlife career change, starting to contribute more to others than just making an identity or making a living. Nurturing an intimate relationship. If you're in a long-term marriage it may mean fueling the passion.
