It's gotta be Atlanta's Gutman. Specifically for allowing Lletget to jog up the field and dink the ball to Buksa with no pressure at all. It was a 6v2 opportunity and Gutman decided to keep backing off instead of engaging. Gutman has also struggled in the final third this season so this incident was my breaking point.Support the show

*** DONATE TO LAURA ARANDA FUNERAL & OTHER EXPENSES LINK: https://gofund.me/8784705a *** COG STUDIOS, Calif. -- In a major kit store in London, England, the first realistic leak of the 2022 primary kit was revealed by an Irish LA Galaxy fan who was on holiday. This is how this season is going to go, isn't it? Hosts Josh Guesman and Eric Viera are back to discuss the Galaxy's focus on an injury-prone Brazilian struggling to cut it in the second division of Brazil. Do the Galaxy think they have found an overlooked diamond in the rough? And are they going for it hard? The guys discuss the risks and rewards of Douglas Costa and why he's going to have to find a way to convince Galaxy fans he wants to make a difference in LA. Plus, could a short-term contract make more sense even if it is worth close to $5-million? Josh and Eric also discuss 2022's plain-white-t and why the replica unearthed in London is probably pretty close to the actual design that is coming out. Will you buy it? Finally, the guys discuss Julian Araujo not making the Mexico bench against Jamaica, why the Galaxy probably gave away a whole bunch of money when moving Lletget so early in the window, and why Omar Gonzalez and AJ DeLaGarza are gracing the beaches in the South Bay as "Galaxy East" comes to SoCal for the preseason. Sebastian Lletget has moved to New England, and Sacha Kljestan will stay in LA, but are you getting a warm and fuzzy feeling from the moves? Hosts Josh Guesman and Sophie Nicolaou are back to get you updated on some very big moves by a Galaxy side that seems to have a plan in mind as they offload players and gather some money in the process. They'll start with the re-signing of Sacha Kljestan, who seems to be a value-added type of player. So what did the Galaxy get with Kljestan? And can they afford to add another name like Victor Vasquez as well? But then Josh and Sophie want to get into the Galaxy's trade with New England for Lletget. Can the Galaxy afford to trust the Revolution and Bruce Arena in this deal? Why are the Galaxy dealing with Arena and Lletget? Did he want to go to New England? And did the Galaxy get the value you expected from the trade? Josh will break down the mechanics of how the Galaxy get paid and when they get paid and then tell you what the perception of the deal is in some circles across the league. Will the Galaxy ever get $1.3-million out of the Revolution? And when could they see that money if they did? Next, our hosts talk about the Dan Steres trade details and why it's probably more of a wash than we initially thought. Does that make you feel better about offloading the defender to the Houston Dynamo? Finally, there's some schedule talk before Sophie tells stories of Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, and then name drops about ten more celebrities. She's the most interesting person in the world for a reason. She just stays bottled up! We've got a fun show for you with only one more episode left this year. Are you ready to ring in 2022? With Saturday's MLS Cup inching toward completion, all hell is about to break loose on the trading market inside the league. And that means multiple players from the Galaxy could be gone in a matter of days. On today's show, hosts Josh Guesman and Eric Vieira update you on all the rumors surrounding the Galaxy, break some news, and tell you what to expect as the club wheels and deals in a very compact offseason. Josh and Eric will start with an update on Mike Munoz, LA Galaxy II, and a surprise departure (maybe it's not that surprising) of a coach we thought would stay around. Are significant changes coming to the Academy? Then the guys transition to Sebastian Lletget. They'll talk about the rumor that was dropped by Steve Goff earlier in the day and update you on teams interested in Lletget. Is the fact that Bruce Arena is making this deal surprise anyone? And what can you expect from a Lletget who will probably have a bounce-back year for the Revolution? Next on the rumor list is Cristian Pavon. How aggressive are the Galaxy going to get with Boca Juniors? And why will he be expensive even though he's out of contract in June? We'll explain the landscape and why multiple teams are after Pavon. And are the Galaxy making a mistake by pursuing someone with sexual assault charges still on the books? Finally, Dan Steres is on the trading block. That shouldn't surprise you. It was assumed as a good theory as soon as the season ended. But with Vanney deciding that Steres won't be playing for LA, the Galaxy have to find a place for the 31-year-old. There's some talk about Julian Araujo mixed in, and we talk about Christmas songs we don't know the words to, a sable, and getting bumped in a drive-thru at lunch. Yeah, the silly season is here!

But that doesn't mean the league doesn't have things we need to discuss! And it doesn't mean the LA Galaxy aren't tracking a few rumors from both inside and outside the league. On today's show, hosts Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter discuss the Galaxy's silent approach to the offseason so far and why MLS Cup's conclusion should jump-start a very short offseason. Josh and Kevin will start clarifying the Chris Klein rumors and why the Los Angeles World Cup Committee could grab some attention from the Galaxy's President. The guys will then "transfer" over to the Ilie Sanchez rumors and tell you that, while they were fake, it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility. So should you stay awake at night dreaming of a 31-year-old midfielder after Jonathan dos Santos -- a 31-year-old midfielder -- kept you awake at night in 2021? Plus, there's word from Turkey (the country and not Josh's 9-pound Thanksgiving treat) that 26-year-old Tyler Boyd may be interested in joining the Galaxy. What would that mean for Greg Vanney's formation? And what could that signal to guys like Kevin Cabral, Dejan Joveljić, and Efrain Alvarez? Speaking of Alvarez and Julian Araujo, both get call-ups to Mexico's friendly with Chile. But why is Araujo harder to trade than Alvarez? Could the Galaxy ever replace Araujo? And if they had to put a number on it, how out of touch with reality is it? Finally, MLS is launching a new third division of soccer. Why is it just a suped-up reserve league, and why were the Galaxy wary of joining it when it was announced? Will they ever join? We've got a packed show for you on a Monday that we thought might be short. It wasn't. Enjoy!

But we're starting to see some player rumors heat things up. Can the Galaxy take advantage of the smaller market struggles to take a giant leap forward in 2022? Host Josh Guesman brings you all the latest news and rumors surrounding the Galaxy and how each of those rumored players could affect how we view the club's offseason. Josh will start with the Sebastian Lletget rumors and why the Galaxy would think of trading a fan favorite. And he'll remind the listeners that the vocal minority on Lletget is absolutely a minority and that the public relations of this move must also be considered. But what could the Galaxy get with a trade in the league? And why is New England a clear landing spot for him? Next, Josh will focus on 31-year-old defensive midfielder Ilie Sanchez. There are some things that could loosely link him to the Galaxy, and that wouldn't be a bad thing. SO STOP SAYING 31 IS OLD! It's old for some players, but Sanchez has the track record of being a reliable starter for years in MLS. Plus, why is defensive midfield a position of need if the Galaxy brought in Rayan Raveloson? Finally, Corner of the Galaxy turns into House Hunters as Galaxy President Chris Klein lists his Newport Beach house for sale. What does that mean for a man who should definitely be on the hot seat (but probably isn't)? And what stupid story does Josh have about meeting Klein 13 years ago in a driveway in Corona Del Mar? It's a good Thursday show that will at least keep you abreast of what is happening around MLS and the Galaxy. Are you ready for everything to kick into the crazy season? Because that will happen faster than you think!

Josh and Eric will also update you on Sebastian Lletget's performance with the USMNT and why the Galaxy are hoping to capture some of the gamesmanship Lletget highlights while on international duty. Could Rayan Raveloson free up Lletget to be a more dynamic playmaker? The guys will then talk about season ticker renewals and why the Galaxy will always increase prices even if they haven't hosted a playoff game since 2016. Then there's another good update on the Dejan Jovelić transfer and why you should probably expect it to get done. And do the rumors of Pipo Gonzalez going to Alajualense make sense? Yes, they do! Finally, the guys are getting you ready for a challenging game against the Portland Timbers. Can the Galaxy get back on track without Chicharito? Does Sega Coulibaly find the field in this game? And who scores the goals for the club if it's not going to be Charito -- it feels like we've been asking that question a lot. We've got a packed show that is waiting for your input, your listening, and your reaction! Plus, will we see you on Saturday night at Taps? Come have an adult beverage with us! As always, thanks for listening. And we can't wait to see you at the game on Friday night!

Well, the preseason is over, friends. Now, all the games count. So are you ready for the start of the 2021 season? Let's get started! On the last show of the preseason, hosts Josh Guesman and Larry Morgan discuss the busy week and the even busier weekend the LA Galaxy have as they are ready for their Sunday matchup with Inter Miami CF. The guys will start with some media day highlights from a passionate Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez and a remorseful and emotional Sebastian Lletget. Normally this kind of vulnerability isn't shown in a press conference. So to see it twice, within minutes of each other, shows that this is a Galaxy team that is working on their mental health. The guys will then go on to discuss the ridiculous situation MLS is putting the Galaxy in by not letting them know of if they'll be playing without Lletget until very late in the week, and why the league tried to censor the most poignant moment of any of the press conferences on the day. Is MLS setting Lletget up for a fall? We'll show you the video and play you the audio, and you can decide. Josh and Larry also discuss the most critical pieces for the Galaxy in 2021 and why it won't improve without these players having a good year. Plus, there's just a brief update on the rumor of another French player -- this time a center back -- headed to the Galaxy. Finally, the guys give you some roster compliance information that might be hitting your newsstands tomorrow and what to expect from a Miami team that hasn't played a preseason game this year. Should the Galaxy be favorites? And don't worry, we included a dramatic game preview for you as well. The Hammer always has you covered! We've got a busy show for your first away trip of 2021. And while the LA Galaxy are out of time, the trip to Miami might be precisely what they're looking for. On today's show, hosts Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter are getting you ready for Week 1 of the MLS season for the Galaxy. It's going to be a busy week, and right now, there's some uncertainty on who will be available for the game this weekend. Josh and Kevin will start by taking the most profound look at the team this preseason. And Galaxy head coach Greg Vanney gave us plenty to ponder. What has this preseason done to advance the Galaxy? And what can we take from the final game in the Sun Cup Tournament? The guys will also talk about the preseason debuts for Oneil Fisher and Samuel Grandsir and why they're both significant additions to the roster. Could we see either of them against Miami? Josh and Kevin will also do their best to get you caught up to speed on Sebastian Lletget's social media mess-up and why that could mean he doesn't make the trip to Florida. But really, MLS should stop and take a breath to understand there's nothing they can do to make this better. Should Lletget be able to play this weekend? And then there's the question of Inter Miami and whether or not they'll be ready for a match against the Galaxy. With no preseason games, some covid issues, and a roster that probably won't be compliant until right before the deadline, the Galaxy might be the team with better form on the day. But will that translate into a stolen victory? Or will it mean the Galaxy aren't getting that US Open Cup bid? That's right, Panda. I want my $100! We've got a packed show for you on a Monday night. Did Sebastian Lletget finally figure out what he needed to do? Did Guillermo Barros Schelotto figure out his role? Or can this all be traced back to Lletget making dangerous runs and smarter plays? They scored six goals in the second half, scored seven goals total, while Zlatan Ibrahimovic got his second hat trick in the last ten games. And with three other goalscorers in the boxscore, the Galaxy got contributions across the entire team. But not everything was perfect. There were some defensive lapses, and Sporting missed some clear chances. The Galaxy, however, should be celebrating this win, and Ibrahimovic as he set club history as he chases MLS history. On today's show, your hosts Josh Guesman (Galaxy Beat Reporter) and Kevin Baxter (LA Times Soccer Reporter), are getting you into the stats, and into details of a game that saw nine goals scored. And remember, this game was at one's at halftime. They try to explain what they see with Ibrahimovic and why he's so much better than even our eyes are telling us. He's one of the most dominant players in MLS history, and he hasn't even played two complete seasons. But is he the best player in MLS history? And will any of this confidence from Ibrahimovic, Lletget, Corona, or the rest of the team carry over against a Montreal team that could be a trap game? Plus, because of the scoreline, this is going to get buried, but the referees messed up this game badly. A blatant, cheap shot trip, was missed on Ibrahimovic in the penalty box, and a horror tackle wasn't given as a red card. With referees tasked with protecting players, who does Rolf Feltscher get kicked in the head, and how is Cristian Pavon scissor tackled from behind without a red card? And Josh will definitely do his best to dismiss the most common excuse for lousy refereeing decisions. Does he have a point? Or is he off the ledge on this one? We've got over 60-minutes of Galaxy-talk to try and put one of the most eventful games in Galaxy history into perspective. The focus shifts to Montreal, and we're here to get you ready! "WON IT 5 TIMES" T-SHIRT: SUPPORT THE SHOW WITH THE PURCHASE OF THIS SHIRT - https://www.bonfire.com/cog-5-times/ COG MERCHANDISE (SCARVES, T-SHIRTS, BUTTONS, COASTERS): http://www.cornerofthegalaxy.com/SHOP COG STUDIOS, Calif. -- The LA Galaxy blew Sporting KC out of the water on Sunday night. And when they face off against the Portland Timbers, on March 31 (ESPN2 at 6 p.m.), they might have two of their Designated Players back and play the first game with the core of the group fully intact. On today's show, your hosts Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter both jumped off of airplanes to record on Sunday afternoon to ensure you have the latest Galaxy storylines to get you ready for the match in seven days. The guys will start by talking about the character and perseverance of Sebastian Lletget and why his relationship with Becky G seems to be giving him the best support system. Could a battle with the national team lead Lletget to take that next step? Even as his broken nose threatens to derail his progress once again? Then Josh and Kevin dive into the problems surrounding the lack of information around Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Why the secrecy? And if the Galaxy would have come out and said "Ibrahimovic will be out for a month" would you feel any differently than you do now? With Romain Alessandrini looking like he might be back for Portland, with Juninho available for selection, and with Ibrahimovic having the possibility of playing as well, what will the team look like under Guillermo Barros Schelotto? Will GBS find himself missing the pressing style 4-3-3 that pressured Minnesota into mistakes? Or can Ibrahimovic and Alessandrini also work with the team in that formation? Finally, the guys get you updated on Giancarlo González and what seems to be holding that deal up. Could Toronto FC be in the way of the Galaxy adding a Costa Rican international? And the prep for the long regular season will quickly begin. On today's show, your hosts Josh Guesman and Larry Morgan (NotOnTwitter) take you through the latest Galaxy news and injuries, while prepping you for what needs to be seen from the Galaxy on Saturday night to feel comfortable heading into the season. First, Josh and Larry talk about the differing loan situation for Bradford Jamieson IV and João Pedro. While there is optimism on one side, there is a finality on the other that should see one of those two players never return to LA again. Then the guys will discuss the career of former Galaxy 'keeper Jaime Penedo and how he has a wonderful legacy with the Galaxy even though it may be built up by how he departed the team. And with a new injury to Perry "Kevin" Kitchen, the guys talk about the depth at the center of the field before shifting gears to which position is best for Jorgen Skjelvik. This all leads into quotes from Guillermo Barros Schelotto, Dennis te Kloese, David Bingham, and Sebastian Lletget. And Lletget completely reverses course about being ready for the season opener. Is this something Galaxy fans should be worried about? Could this be another injury-plagued year for the Galaxy? Finally, Josh and Larry discuss why the Galaxy still haven’t announced a deal to rid themselves of a Designated Player. And the only conclusion they can come to is that the league hasn’t approved it yet – and that’s scary! With the roster compliance date rapidly approaching, will the Galaxy be forced into a last-minute deal?! All that, and a lot more on this very fun episode of Corner of the Galaxy! With Lletget firing on all cylinders – even if not fully 100% fit according to him – the Galaxy could finally be in a position to take advantage of a talented player who is nearing his peak of performance. Welcome back, soccer fans, to the Sons of a Pitch: An American Soccer Podcast. Once again winter storms have prevented us from getting to the recording studio, but once again we've been able to put together about 30min of soccer talk. First, Nick breaks down the United States Men's National Team (USMNT) victory over fellow CONCACAF member Costa Rica. The United States controlled most of the game, but really dominated the last 15min or so after the Lletget's entrance. The 2-0 victory showcased how Berhalter has his team disorganize opponents through possession, and Arriola, Lletget, Mihailovic, and others continued to impress. Next, the hosts address a question from a listener about FC Dallas: Mike gives his breakdown of the FC Dallas roster, noting that they have a lot of talent but have struggled to really establish themselves as a dominant team in the Western Conference. Nick thinks they can compete for the 1 or 2 seed, but will need to go on a significant point run given the depth in the West. What are your thoughts? Can FC Dallas win the conference? Do they have the right chemistry to win a trophy? Let us know in the comments below. Thanks for listening, and stay tuned later in the week for another episode.

But first there’s plenty of MLS news to cover, including Bastian Schweinsteiger’s arrival in Chicago, where the Fire hope he’ll help usher in a new era in club history. That’s not all, either, as Jeff Cassar became the first head coach to lose his job in 2017. What will Real Salt Lake do next? That’s still a bit of a mystery, but there are hints. Once that’s out of the way, Solano calls in to give an insider look at Los Catrachos, offer perspective on the changing profile of MLS in Honduras and make a prediction that might worry USMNT fans. Don’t worry, Lletget’s up next and Da Boy gets on the horn to give the American side of the story ahead of his first World Cup Qualifier and talk LA Galaxy and his position of choice. First, the dynamic duo talks about what losing AJ DeLaGarza really feels like. With some time to process where do you put this deal in your head? Have you come to terms with it? Did the Galaxy actually get this one right? And can you stand seeing DeLaGarza in Orange? The team will have to live with this one and it will be one of the most important tests to see if this new front office has everything figured out. Then Josh and Wendy will transition over to the play of Sebastian Lletget and Jermaine Jones in the USMNT game versus Serbia. Impressed with either of those guys? Is criticism necessary to understand who should play where? And where does Lletget really fit into this Galaxy team? Then it's on to talk about Romain Alessandrini and João Pedro. The Frenchman and the young Portuguese midfielder have joined the LA Galaxy and all seems okay. But should you be worried about an injury riddled past? Or the fact that a 23-year old midfielder is a guy who's before his prime and could go bad on the team? It's a fun discussion and one that is sure to get you thinking about the different roles the LA Galaxy have in their bunker inside StubHub Center. Simple Question: What does Jovan Kirovski do? We'll save that for another show. Finally, your hosts talk about the financial motivation that made Jelle Van Damme a Designated Player and why the Galaxy scored big-time by making all the right moves. And what will that mean for the starting lineup and the younger players that will behind him? Is he an injury prone gamble that the Galaxy might regret? Is this the depth LA was looking for? Then Josh and Kevin take a look at the play of Sebastian Lletget and Jermaine Jones as both players took turns in the midfield for the US Men's National Team (USMNT) last Sunday in San Diego. Did either play hurt their stock for the National Team? And are there plenty of upsides to be had from this game? We'll talk about what other USMNT players had to say about both Lletget and Jones and what trouble that could mean for the LA Galaxy. It's not all good news. It's a great show as we count down the days until this young team takes the field in their first preseason game. Are you going? GREAT! We'll see you there! Music Provided by Back Pocket Memory Special Announcement: Corner of the Galaxy is pleased to announce that Kevin Baxter of the LA Times will be joining the show as full-time co-host on CoG: From the Box. Kevin has done a tremendous amount of work covering the LA Galaxy over the last couple of years and we're really honored to have him join our team to deliver our listeners the most up to date and breaking news we can possibly provide.

LA Galaxy Insider Adam Serrano talks about what we learned from the preseason matchup with San Jose in Las Vegas and if this team is CCL ready. It's the dawn of a new soccer season and Corner of the Galaxy: From the Box is finally back from it's winter hibernation. LA Galaxy Insider Adam Serrano rejoins the show and your hosts dive into what was learned from the LA's 1-0 win over San Jose in Las Vegas. The guys talk about Nigel De Jong's LA Galaxy debut. As well as what Jelle Van Damme can do better and how Robbie Rogers and Giovani dos Santos are combining on the right flank. And while fitness is probably the biggest issue, Josh and Adam will also talk about what the LA Galaxy need to to advance over Santos Laguna. If the Galaxy are looking to hang their hat on defense they might want to take a page out of their previous CCL tournament's playbook. LA has to win this game at home. And they have to build a lead before going down to Mexico for the return leg. Can they do it? How will there depth help? Are Boateng and Lletget locked in the most competitive battle for a starting position? And how will Bruce Arena approach this game? All of those questions are asked and answered on our very first 'From the Box' of 2016. Thanks for joining us and we can't wait for this season to finally start. Music Provided by Back Pocket Memory
