CoG Studios, CA - Welcome back to another Corner of the Galaxy where we get to talk about Major League Soccers most storied team - the LA Galaxy. On today's show, your hosts Josh Guesman and Cory Ritzau want to discuss about this LA Galaxy team and what they were able to do against Orlando. They're going to talk about players that may have gone unnoticed, players that were simply outstanding, and players that just continue to impress us. Giovani Dos Santos will be front and center as he scored four goals in 2 games and ended up winning "MLS Player of the Week." But is he the guy you want to run behind into the playoffs? Giovani Dos Santos will be front and center as he scored four goals in two games and ended up winning "MLS Player of the Week." But is he the guy you want to run behind into the playoffs? Plus what will happen if Robbie Keane starts this week? Will Dos Santos be pushed back out wide? The decision Bruce Arena makes this weekend could very well be the answer to how well the LA Galaxy do down the stretch. Then the guys will shift their attention to Landon Donovan's return and what it means for the LA Galaxy. Next, they'll focus in on the MLS Expansion Draft, and what rules will confuse and upset you. Plus they'll tell you the good news about how many players the LA Galaxy could lose in this draft. All the details are right here for your listening. And with MLSSoccer.com getting ready to announce their "24 under 24," the guys will tell you why you should probably print it out and toss it in the recycling bin. But they'll also give you an update on the LA Galaxy players you should be watching. Finally, Josh and Cory will wrap up with some discussion on the game against Sporting KC this Sunday. It's a place the LA Galaxy have never one (Children's Mercy Park) and a town that has seen the Galaxy struggle to get three points. Is this that time? It's a packed show -- a long one at that -- and we're glad you could join us. Music Provided by Back Pocket Memory

CoG Studios, CA - Landon Donovan may have been the big story on Sunday when the LA Galaxy finished 4-2 winners over Orlando City, but the real thing LA Galaxy fans should be focused on is the increased level of play from Giovani dos Santos. On today's show, hosts Josh Guesman and LA Galaxy Insider Adam Serrano are joined by FourFourTwo.com's West Coast Editor, Richard Farley (@RichardFarley). Together your hosts will discuss the impact of players like Dos Santos and Donovan and what your expectations should be for both of these players down the stretch. With Dos Santos, it will be about what his ceiling could be. They'll also talk about what has changed with the Galaxy to allow for Gio to become the playmaker he's been. And they'll also talk about whether or not LA should rely on Giovani dos Santos down the stretch run. Can Gio be the man? Does that mean that Robbie Keane is on the bench? Next, the guys will discuss Landon Donovan's 12-minute reintroduction to soccer. It was a much-hyped affair, but what did we actually witness on Sunday at StubHub? And what are some realistic expectations for Donovan as the Galaxy inch closer toward the playoffs? And finally, what constitutes a successful return for Landon Donovan? Is it a "Cup or bust" mentality? Or can Landon do himself and the team harm by not performing? We'll discuss all of that and more. We've got an excellent show that talks about all the topics that are hitting the LA Galaxy and we're lucky enough to have you join us. Music Provided by Back Pocket Memory
Giovani dos Santos says he’s in “the best moment” of his career. Yeah, no kidding. Two goals and two assists from the Mexican No. 10 helped the Galaxy run away from Orlando on Sunday. Oh, and Landon Donovan made his LA debut – that’s important, too. The guys break down the hot and cold of the MLS Cup playoff race, including another Red Bulls’ collapse and Jozy Altidore going beast mode against Chicago. Remember, it’s red line time in MLS. It’s also US Open Cup time, with FC Dallas set to host New England on Tuesday for the right to hoist the Lamar Hunt trophy (10 pm ET; ESPN2 in the US, MLS LIVE in Canada). A couple veteran MLS scribes join the guys to preview a match that could play. Steve Davis gives the FC Dallas side, while Kyle McCarthy checks in from New England before a flight to Frisco. Who’ll take the trophy? The guys are split. In the mailbag, Andrew, David and Calen attempt to build out the perfect playoff field, LD’s number choice is explained and a listener/scout emails in search of swag.

Giovani Dos Santos had an awkward Tuesday, and SI's Grant Wahl and Brian Straus had the distinction of being part of it. While Dos Santos was left off Mexico's Copa America roster–said by Juan Carlos Osorio to have curiously declined the invitation–he was in the midst of a media tour, and Wahl and Straus share their conversations with Dos Santos while it all went down on the new Planet Fútbol Podcast. Later on this week's episode, Wahl also speaks with Angus McNab, a vice president at renowned soccer data provide Opta, about data and analytics' place in today's game, how they're used as a metric to judge players and the more prevalent stat of expected goals. This weekend also marks the cup finals for Europe's five major countries, and Wahl and Straus make their picks for the FA Cup, Coppa Italia, Copa del Rey, DFB Pokal and Coupe de France. Talking about Giovani dos Santos' recent form and trying to figure out what's different and what might throw him back off track. On today's podcast, your hosts Josh Guesman and LA Galaxy Insider Adam Serrano are joined by LA Times Soccer Writer, Kevin Baxter. Together, the guys try to pinpoint some of the reasons for Giovani dos Santo's poor LA Galaxy performance to date. They'll talk about his injury issues and about happiness. They'll also dive into Gio's positioning, his tendencies as a player, and what the LA Galaxy need to do for him as well as what he needs to do for the team. This is a show that's dedicated to trying to better understand a player who's gone through 8 teams in 10 years. And it's also a player who has the future of an organization firmly planted on his shoulders. Whether fans appreciate Giovani dos Santos for what he is - a bridge player - the fact is that he's supposed to be the single LA Galaxy designated player who'll be playing down the road. This is not a short term project. What do you expect from Giovani dos Santos? Do you think he could ever be as great for the LA Galaxy as a Landon Donovan? Is that even a fair comparison? And what happens when Robbie Keane gets healthy? Dos Santos is playing in Keane's position right now. Is it time for Robbie Keane to bow out to the younger player? It's an insightful show that might just got to prove how difficult a job Bruce Arena is going to have in the coming weeks and months. Player selection, position selection and injuries could very well be the difference between making the playoffs and winning the Supporters Shield. On today's show we're going to help you understand the motivations and the pitfalls of signing Giovani Dos Santos. Joining us is Mexico and CONCACAF expert, Jon Arnold. Giovani Dos Santos is a marquise signing for the LA Galaxy. But his 4.5 year contract comes with both the upsides and the downsides of any player. But particularly, for Gio, he's got to live up to the billing that is being applied to him. He will be a star for the LA Galaxy and could be the biggest Mexican star in CONCACAF if everything goes to play. Your hosts Josh Guesman and LA Galaxy Insider, Adam Serrano are joined by a writer for Goal.com, Jon Arnold. Jon's specialty is the CONCACAF region and one of his main focuses is on Mexico. So he's just the person to help us understand the motivations and the concerns Giovani Dos Santos may've had when decided to pick Los Angeles as his final destination. Along the way the guys will discuss whether they think this signals a turning point for the talented players of Mexico. Will this mean more players are coming to MLS from south of the border? Or is this simply about one player willing to make the career leap when he's reached his prime. There might even be some talk about whether Giovani Dos Santos deserves to get the number 10 on his kit. It's a packed show brought to you by people who love to talk about the LA Galaxy. It's something you can find nowhere else. Music by Back Pocket Memory
