The adored actress behind the character Nikki Newman of The Young and the Restless tells all in this scintillating look at her dramatic life and 60-year career, now available for pre-order Emmy Award-nominated Melody Thomas Scott admits she is nothing like her The Young and the Restless role, which has seen it all in her forty-one-year tenure on America's highest-rated daytime serial. But the high drama, angst, and catastrophes aren't confined to her character's plotlines. In her first-ever book, the captivating memoir "Always Young And Restless" (Diversion Books; August 18, 2020, available for pre-order now; $26.99, Hardcover; ISBN 978-1635-7669- 43), Melody reveals the intimate and complicated truths of her upbringing as well as behind-the-scenes tales of her own riveting journey to becoming an icon and searching for "normal." "Even though I have spent almost my entire life as an actress and performer, I have kept my private life well behind the scenes," said Scott. "Now, I am ready to share these stories of survival and success that have shaped me into who I am today." As Nikki Newman went from impoverished stripper to resourceful, vivacious heroine-with missteps as gripping as her triumphs-Melody became a household name, enthralling audiences across the globe. But her road to stardom also had to be one to freedom marked by an escape fit for cinema. In Always Young and Restless, Melody tells of her troubled, untraditional upbringing for the first time. Readers will learn how she suffered at home with her grandmother, a compulsive hoarder whose cruelty as her guardian is shockingly extreme; abuse at the hands of industry men; the intensity of acting in feature films with Alfred Hitchcock and Clint Eastwood; and how she finally took control of her life and career, in a getaway move as daring as any on The Young and the Restless. And of course, Melody divulges more than forty years' worth of juicy on-and-off-set details of what it's like to be one-half of the show's most successful super couple, "Niktor," plus her personal path to healing, love, and family. In witty, warm prose, meet the shining, persevering heart of an American icon-and prepare to be moved by a life story fit for a soap opera star.

TVC 486.3: Ed welcomes back Eric Braeden, the Emmy Award-winning actor who earlier this year celebrated his fortieth anniversary playing complex self-made billionaire Victor Newman on the popular CBS daytime drama The Young and the Restless. Topics include how Victor has evolved as a character over the past four decades; the chemistry Eric has enjoyed with Melody Thomas Scott and other Y and R cast members; and Eric’s admiration for L.A. Lakers star Kobe Bryant and his relentless pursuit of excellence. If you’re looking for a good read during this period of social distancing, may we suggest Eric's memoir, I’ll Be Damned: How My Young and Restless Life Led Me to America’s #1 Daytime Drama, a classic immigration story that embodies the American Dream. Born and raised in Germany at the height of World War II, Eric arrived in the U.S. in 1959 unaware of the atrocities of the Holocaust. That changed dramatically one day in 1961, when he watched the film Mein Kampf—an experience that not only awakened him politically, but left him determined to redress the wrongs of his homeland and to fighting prejudice not only against Germans, but all ethnicities. Eric tells his story candidly and very movingly; you will enjoy it as much as I did. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Y&R’s Melody Thomas Scott chronicles four decades in Genoa City, shares her dream storyline for Nikki, her memories of Jeanne Cooper (ex-Katherine) and Kristoff St. John (ex-Neil) and more with Digest’s Stephanie Sloane and Mara Levinsky. Plus, we examine the pros and cons of supercouples.
This week we're swimming with the fishes and talking all about 1978's PIRANHA starring Heather Menzies-Urich, Bradford Dillman & Melody Thomas Scott. So grab your inner tubes, shovels and makeshift rafts and come along as we talk the movie, find out how it Jamie Lee's and Christopher talks about the production!
In 1980, partly spurred on by the advice of his pal Dabney Coleman, who urged him not to dismiss acting on a soap opera as beneath him, the great ERIC BRAEDEN --- who had already made quite a name for himself throughout the 1970s playing featured roles in films and guesting on the prime-time series of the day --- accepted what was originally intended to be a three-month role as a villain on The Young and the Restless. Little did Mr. Braeden know at that time that his short-term part --- that of ruthless billionaire corporate raider Victor Newman --- would catch fire with the audience, and that Victor would still be the primary mover and shaker among the Genoa City society elite a full thirty-seven years later. Eric has just documented the story of all of the above --- as well as how he made the journey from war-torn Germany, where he was born, to the wilds of Hollywood --- in his brand new memoir, I’ll Be Damned, a spectacularly dishy, rip-snorting read which has just landed in bookstores via the HarperCollins, and he is stopping by the Buzz to talk about why he decided this was the right time to a publish an autobiography, to reflect on various of his co-stars from throughout his four decades on Y&R, and to discuss how he feels about the current turbulent political climate in this country in the months since last November's stunning presidential election!
This week, we’re talking about controversies, confrontations and cheap (looking) stunts. DAYS OF OUR LIVES gave us the long-awaited, awesome-as-hoped-for scenes in which Sami finally confronted Abby and EJ, and Alison Sweeney did some of the best work of her career as a result. But DAYS also gave us the long-awaited, much-discussed and, ultimately, kinda sad charity event which boiled down to Marlena cracking jokes on TV while Aiden and Hope danced in a storage closet. Over on THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL, we got our first glimpse of new-girl-in-town Ivy... and saw Quinn go right over the edge! Did Quinn go too far... or is there hope for our favorite mad mama yet? THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS continued to give fan-fave Melody Thomas Scott awesome material as Nikki went up against Ian... but they also gave us the awful Austin/Summer story. And GENERAL HOSPITAL continued to push Sam further away from Silas... and closer to Patrick, leaving us to wonder how Robin's return (not to mention the possibility of Jason coming with her) will impact the canvas. And your host, Richard M. Simms -- executive editor of Soaps in Depth -- found himself smack-dab in the middle of a little controversy thanks to the Golden Girls! All that and more tonight on Tune In Tomorrow!

Now, celebrating 35 years in the fictional town Genoa City, we at THE BUZZ will be reliving some of Nikki's greatest moments in "Y&R" history. Remember when Nikki first fell into alcohol addiction? Or when she was first involved with Jack Abbott, and didn't know who the father of her baby was: Jack or Victor? Nikki and her best friend, Kay Chancellor? And the catfights?! We will go over all that and more as we celebrate "35 Years Young: A Celebration of Nikki Reed Newman and Melody Thomas Scott."

This week, we are rebroadcasting some of our favorite shows from 2011! Tonight, we share with you interviews with two of my favorite daytime TV actresses: Hillary B. Smith and Melody Thomas Scott. Hillary B. Smith plays the role of Nora Buchanan on ABC Daytime's ONE LIFE TO LIVE. She also can be seen as Guya on the hit web series, VENICE. Her interview originall aired on February 8, 2011. Melody Thomas Scott plays the role of Nikki Newman on CBS Daytime's THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS. Her interview originally aired on December 28, 2011. We got to speak to her after her special episode aired on the show.
For 32 years, Melody Thomas Scott has been playing the role of Nikki Reed Newman on THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS. A true fan favorite and daytime royalty, Melody began acting at the age of 3, and 5 years later, she was cast in the Alfred Hitchcock movie, MARNIE. Although recast, Melody began playing the role of Nicole Reed in 1979. The character, who was abused by her father, then became a stripper who caught the eye of millionaire Victor Newman, played by Eric Braeden since 1980. This began the on/off again romance between Victor and Nikki, the epitome of a daytime supercouple. Fans went to task when it was not known if the character of Nikki/Melody were to be seen on Y&R again. After months of wondering, the Internet finally was abuzz that one of daytime's leading ladies was returning to the soap. Another first for Nikki AND Melody was the Christmas stand-alone episode that aired on December 23, 2011. Be here LIVE as we speak with the actress on this special Christmas episode, as well as Nikki's return to the bottle AND Genoa City, as well as take your phone calls.
