Why have a dentist on The Gymnast Nutritionist® Podcast? Often I get questions from gymnast parents about sports drinks, cavities, and dental health. So I brought in an expert for today's episode! It's common for dentists to warn parents not to let their children have sports drinks because of the risk of cavities and dental health. The big focus here tends to be the sugar. Which only fuels the “sports drinks are bad” camp which isn't true. This episode isn't just  about sports drinks in and of themselves as there is certainly a time and place for those in sport to strategically refuel and improve performance.  But there's a lot more to cavities than just sugar, and who knows what else is going on with their oral hygiene. Plus the logistical barriers to appropriate intraworkout fueling narrow down our choices of what we have in terms of fueling for optimal performance with high intensity, anerobic workouts that are 4-5+ hours at a time. That's why I'm so happy to have Dr Craig Clayton DMD, one of the premier dentists in Meridian Idaho on the podcast today. He's worked in various dental settings and has experience working with a wide range of dental teams, patients, and practice cultures. Listen in today as he breaks down what's really going on with your gymnast's sport drinks consumption and dental health. In this episode you'll hear about: What are cavities and can things like sports drinks, quick carbs (sugars) contribute to them? What's the best way to prevent cavities? How do we balance fueling intraworkout + cavity prevention? Links & Resources The Balanced Gymnast® Program for level 5-10 female gymnasts Episode 48: Do Gymnasts Need Snack Breaks?Dr. Craig Clayton | Wellness & Biomimetic DentistryConnect with Christina on Instagram @the.gymnast.nutritionist or christinaandersonrdn.com

In this episode we are joined by Andrew Van Dyke, a financial advisor with Modern Woodmen in Meridian Idaho. Andrew shares his wisdom from working with business owners to manage their financial assets, both within the business deferred compensation plans and outside the business with their own investments. Andrew was born in raised in beautiful Northern California, in wine country. From the time he was young, he had a passion for numbers and people. From the get-go, it has made this career a natural fit for him, but that's not why he works as a financial advisor. His biggest passion is time freedom, and his goal is to teach and pass on that passion to his clients. Andrew specializes in developing tax strategies for business owners and the self-employed to minimize their tax bills today and tomorrow. He helps to create passive income streams for business owners once they have transitioned out of their businesses.Selling a business is the American dream, the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, the reward for years of hard work. Successful entrepreneurs make countless sacrifices in hopes that they would someday reap the benefits of their labor and live a new life of vacations, recreation, and prosperity. You only exit your business once, so you should feel confident passing this milestone. A successful business exit reflects the preparation done beforehand. Failing to plan is planning to fail. The owner of a privately held company has several alternatives on how to exit their business. In the absence of an exit strategy, events will inexorably dictate the final exit plan. A costly involuntary exit may be caused by death, disability, divorce, disagreement, or distress. Selling Your Business with David King will help you take control of the sale process and make it positive one.

If you missed season 1 episode 12, I recommend listening to this one first. But for those of you who are not going to do that. Most of the time when I find a new show, I just jump in right and don't look back either so I get it.  In which case, here is a quick recap... Rachel is a very talented athlete. She is a gymnast, a crossfitter and does jujitsu competitively. She is a crossfit L2 coach and a Pregnancy & Postpartum Athleticism Coach (P&PA Coach). She is also a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) who attends out of hospital births both at home and at a freestanding birthing center in Meridian Idaho at the New Beginnings Birthing Center. When she was on the show back in March she was pregnant with her first baby and suffering from hyperemesis. We talked about her experience and about why coaching and midwifery are so well aligned. Basically, we shared a soapbox for the better part of an hour. It is one of my most listened to episodes to date. So, I asked her to  join us again to share her birth story and to update us on her return to fitness. I am particularly interested to hear what might have felt unexpected, or if any given experience challenged her beliefs or changed her perspective. Because, while I don't believe we must have babies in order to be good at this work, it does provide a perspective that you cant get any other way.Enjoy the show.Resources and shout outsBlog Post that summarizes Rachel's tips on birth prep and return to fitness from this episodeExpecting Amy (Documentary about Amy Schumer's pregnancy/experience with hyperemesis)Dr. Jennifer Anacker, Anacker Clinic of Chiropractic, Meridian and Boise, IDWant to become a Pregnancy & Postpartum Athleticism Coach, find one, or purchase a training program to help you stay active during pregnancy and postpartum?Six exercises for the early postpartum period (Brianna Battles, owner/founder of Pregnancy & Postpartum Athleticism)Support the showThriving After Birth (an online course)Comprehensive Care60 Min Consultation: Use discount code- FirstConsult10%offInstagram: @mother.wit.maternityYou Tube Channel

So two years ago when we were in full lockdown because of Covid there were a few things that I saw that really shocked me. One of those was Idaho's response to Covid. I have said before on the podcast that I lived for quite a few in Idaho so I felt like I had a pretty good idea on what their government leaders were like. I have to admit that I was wrong. I was shocked to see the draconian measures that the state took in locking down its population. One story that was especially jarring for me was the story of Sara Brady. She was the mom who had dared to take her kids to a park in Meridian Idaho. She was arrested and booked into jail. Sara's story caught the attention of not only the internet but also the national news media. Then as the media often does it just forgot to follow up. Today on the podcast I have Sara on to tell her story and the legal fight she has been having for two years and her upcoming hearing in Ada County Boise. Idaho didn't stop with Sara however. We also cover the story of Robert Jones, a man in Boise who was arrested for protesting and jailed with a charge of disturbing the peace. Robert was given a choice of either a six month long sentence in an Ada County jail or one month and having to take a “thinking errors” course. Robert chose not to submit to the course and now is serving six months in jail. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/dave-kirkenbower/support

Marketing and business expert Jay Abraham once said there's only 3 ways to increase business income: Increase your prices Increase your purchase frequency (i.e retention) Sell your clients more things (i.e supportive services In todays episode I'm talking with Chad Woolner exactly about how to do all three of these things in your chiropractic practice. Making small changes to any of these strategies can drastically increase practice income and when you change all 3 three practice incomes increases exponentially. IMPORTANT:  All 3 of these need to be done in the context of “serving your patients more” or your practice will fail.  We explain more in this episode. Enjoy the show. Thanks for all you do.  Keep saving lives. Angus Links: www.SimplifiedFunctionalMedicine.com https://simplifiedfunctionalmedicine.libsyn.com/website Bio: Dr. Chad Woolner is a man on a mission. His mission is simple: To put an end to one of the greatest hypocrisies within the Chiropractic profession. He poses the question to all chiropractors: If we understand the inherent truth that health comes from within and not from some external source, then why would it be any different for the health of our practice? Why do so many Chiropractors simply seek to throw money at some external source hoping that like some “magic pill” it will somehow save their practice? It won't. Dr. Woolner's passion is helping to awaken within every chiropractor their innate ability to create successful practices. He does this by teaching effective marketing strategies through using online funnels. He creates action taking, dream making, never faking, limit breaking Chirofunnel Experts! He is the go to guy for creating funnels that effectively attract & convert high quality new patients. He started building online funnels several years ago. He was the first chiropractor to use Clickfunnels for marketing his Chiropractic practice back when it was only in beta! In fact he was probably one of the first 10 people ever to use Clickfunnels! Since then, he has been able to effectively crack the code, so to speak, on how to create effective funnels that actually work in the real world. Having struggled early on in practice he is acutely aware of the need for effective marketing strategies for Chiropractors. In 2016, Dr. Woolner launched his ChiroFunnel Secrets program that teaches Chiropractors his 3 core funnels that he has tested and proven in practice. These funnels help reactivate old patients as well as acquire new, paying patients. In February 2018 he launched his first in person event called the Chirofunnel M.A.P. (massive action plan) Weekend which is a high-ticket immersive experience for chiropractors to come out to his office in Meridian Idaho and learn the fundamentals of effective funnels for their practices. He has made it a goal to base his business around his lifestyle so that he can spend more time with his family and building funnels has done just that. He strives to help other doctors do the same and since launching, he has helped doctors all throughout the country change both their practice and their lives. Dr. Woolner lives in Meridian, Idaho with his beautiful wife, Amber, and three kids, Sam, Noelle and Ruby. He loves fishing, playing guitar, doing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and spending time with his family. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Your Learning Curve Never Sounded So Good The Panel: Lauren Giver started in the industry in July 2016 when she went to work for the repair shop that had been maintaining her vehicle for two years. She was hired as the Office Manager, but a big part of her job was talking to customers on the phone and at the counter. Lauren quickly found that this was the favorite part of her job, and truly why she wanted to work there in the first place. She had never received that level of customer service or felt valued as a customer at any other repair shop and she was excited to provide that experience from the other side of the counter. After the shop manager challenged her to make a sale, when she had absolutely no technical or sales experience, she sold the job and found that she enjoyed writing service just as much. It allowed Lauren to help people, which is what she wanted to do. After nine months, she was informed that the owners were retiring and selling the building, but through the connections that she made, Lauren found a wonderful home at Los Gatos Auto Service in Campbell, California where she currently writes service, full-time.
