Tuesday marked our monthly visit with the New Hampshire Department of Safety. We were joined in studio by the Public Information Officer at D.O.S. Tyler Dumont and the Shop Manager at D.O.S. Automotive, Ryan Stevenson. Today Governor Ayotte was joined by members of the N.H. Department of Safety to announce the donations of no-longer-needed used engines from State vehicles to various high school automotive programs. Donations of the engines, as opposed to crushing them, will provide needed educational resources to youth automotive programs at no cost to the school.

During his time at NYCB Jarod and his team of 16 artisans have created 18 world premiere ballets and are preparing for 3 more for this coming Fall and Winter seasons. Before working at NYC Ballet Jarod was the Assistant Designer and Shop Manager at Halsey Onstage, a costume production company in Chicago, IL. There Jarod worked alongside the late Travis Halsey to create over 250 custom costumes that have been worn on stages such as Sea World San Antonio, Papermill Playhouse, Houston Ballet, Vero Beach Ballet, The Joffrey Ballet, and for YAGP. They also created costumes that have been worn in various ballets, musicals, tv shows, and operas across Canada, Australia, and France.   Before beginning his career in costuming, Jarod grew up in the Appalachian Mountains of Eastern Kentucky where he began his journey working in the performing arts by receiving his BA in Music at Morehead State University and continued education of Music Production and Technical Theatre at Troy University. Jarod has performed with various music groups on stages such as Universal Studios in Orlando, FL, the Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra in Pensacola, FL, and on an international orchestra and percussion ensemble tour in Beijing and Tianjin, China. I interviewed Ruth McLaren, who is the Project and Communications Development Officer at Arran Eco Savvy. Since 2014, Arran Eco Savvy has been working towards making Arran a greener and more sustainable island. Some other recent projects include the Green Islands Net Zero, [00:00:24] Madeleine: the Active Travel Hub, Community Shop, and Zero Waste Cafe. I asked her to describe her favourite place to visit in Arran. [00:00:34] Ruth: Ooh, that's a bit of a tricky question actually, because there's so many amazing places. [00:00:39] Ruth: I'd have to say my favourite place is Glen Sannox in the north of the island. [00:00:43] Ruth: And it's just this absolutely beautiful, kind of dramatic glen. Not too far from where I stay. And it's kind of really peaceful. [00:00:51] Ruth: You often, you'll go from the beach, which will maybe have lots of people on it, and if you go up into the glen, it's kind of empty and don't see as many folk around, but you'll see, you know, deer. And I've seen a golden eagle in there once. [00:01:04] Ruth: and it's just really just absolutely beautiful. [00:01:07] Madeleine: So how did you get involved in Community Action? What's your climate journey? [00:01:12] Ruth: I've always been very kind of interested and aware of climate change ever since I was at school, really. And it's just always been something that I've been very passionate about, but also very worried about. [00:01:23] Ruth: And my career. I used to work, I've worked in the government, I've worked in the private sector, but I've also worked for several charities. [00:01:31] Ruth: But I really wanted to get involved in climate action. And when I moved to Arran, I found out about Arran Eco Savvy, which is a local organisation. At the time, they were looking for a Shop Manager for their charity shop pre loved goods shop. [00:01:45] Ruth: I applied for that job. I didn't get it, but then I subsequently applied for another job that they had advertised. And I've worked for Eco Savvy for almost five years now, [00:01:54] Ruth: working across several different projects. [00:01:56] Ruth: So yeah, I feel really lucky to have been involved to such a degree within the community and within such an impactful organisation within a community that is interested in climate change matters. [00:02:07] Madeleine: So what's the biggest challenge that your community group or you had to overcome in taking action, and what do you think you learned from it? [00:02:16] Ruth: I would say that the biggest challenge, just in general with both the community and the issue of climate change in general. [00:02:25] Ruth: It's just such an overwhelming topic. It's something that affects all parts of life. You know, it's not just about, you know, the environment and you can be an environmental activist. It also connects with people's lives in terms of [00:02:38] Ruth: the economy and their finances. You know, social issues and social justice. You know, lots of local issues, land use. You know, it really is, it really does connect with so many other issues that it's not just about, you know, climate change or the environment. [00:02:54] Ruth: And I think that that's really the crux of the issue with the kind of slowness of change. In that, on these higher levels is that it's just people become so overwhelmed with talking about it. And it can be quite a negative thing also, you know, it's quite scary. [00:03:07] Ruth: And that's not always easy conversations to have with folk. [00:03:10] Ruth: And it's also not an easy thing for people to kinda think about. [00:03:13] Ruth: And that's why at Eco Savvy, I think we kind of try to focus a lot of the time on the small things that people can do. [00:03:20] Ruth: But also acknowledging that it's not just about individual change, it's about the wider community level changes, but also government levels and just acknowledging that it's something that intersects in all parts of everybody's life. [00:03:32] Madeleine: What's something that you're most proud of? [00:03:35] Ruth: I'm really proud of the work that the organisation does in terms of just seeing the everyday impacts that it has. [00:03:42] Ruth: So for example, we were at an event at the high school in Arran a few weekends ago. And [00:03:48] Ruth: we had our e-bike trials going on so people could come along and try an e-bike which are always super popular. [00:03:53] Ruth: But we also had some kiddies bikes that have been donated. So, somebody wasn't using these bikes anymore, just handed them into us. And the mechanics had done them up and made sure they were roadworthy. [00:04:04] Ruth: And then this wee girl came along and she couldn't ride a bike, but she really wanted to be able to ride a bike. [00:04:09] Ruth: So our e-bike guy just spent 10 minutes with her and showed her how to ride a bike and then she could ride a bike. She was allowed to just take that bike home. So, you know, things like that on a community level that can have such a big impact for those individuals. And then a long lasting, you know, who knows what she might do, you know, once she's learned to ride a bike, that could make such a big change for her. [00:04:30] Ruth: So these kinds of things, and it's the same with the food work that we do and the little pop-up cafes that we have. And within the shop, whenever you go in the shop, there's people coming in for a chat. People coming in to try eco products, to donate stuff because they don't wanna see these things wasted. [00:04:44] Ruth: So really, yeah, I think the thing I'm proudest about the most is really kind of integrating into the community and the work that's been done there. [00:04:50] Madeleine: Who or what inspires you? [00:04:53] Ruth: So I think climate activists really, really inspire me. Nobody wants to be doing that stuff. You know, nobody wants to be taping themselves to bridges and gluing themselves to roads and things like that. Particularly the youth activists really, really inspire me because I just feel like, why should they have to think about these things? [00:05:13] Ruth: It's so unfair, you know? It makes me quite bitter that they're having to think about these things, and not just think about these things but having to spend their time, you know, acting on these issues that shouldn't be a problem for them. [00:05:25] Ruth: But having said that, it's so inspiring that they care so much and that they're really the ones leading the charge to kind of address the climate emergency. And yeah, I find that super inspiring. [00:05:38] Madeleine: What do you think is the most powerful thing that the Arran community can do right now to help create a better and fairer future for all? [00:05:47] Ruth: I would say coming together, the Arran community does generally come together really well, but coming together and just kind of doing more of what they're doing already, you know, and acknowledging that small actions can have a big, big impact. So, you know, [00:06:02] Ruth: there's the stuff that we're doing with Eco Savvy with active travel and sustainable food, but it's kind of, people can do whatever they're good at. So if you're good at gardening, go along to your community garden and volunteer there. [00:06:16] Ruth: You know, if you're passionate about the sea, there's an amazing marine conservation organisation here, so you can get involved with beach cleans or volunteer at the Visitor Centre at Coast. [00:06:26] Ruth: You know, there's really so much on Arran that folk can do, and I think that people on Arran have a really special relationship with the place and the land and the landscape, [00:06:37] Ruth: being an island that we are. Because we have all these issues with the ferries and things like that. But also it is a very amazing geographical place to be because you're on an island. [00:06:47] Ruth: And when the weather's bad, you feel the weather and you feel the impact of the seasons. And you notice your environment a lot more than you perhaps might if you were living in the city. And I think that people in Arran are very aware of that and really passionate about preserving that and taking care of the environment and taking care of Arran and all these things. And I think that's really powerful. [00:07:07] Madeleine: When I say Green Islands Net Zero. What's the first thing that pops into your mind? [00:07:13] Ruth: Well, we have a Green Islands Net Zero project. [00:07:16] Ruth: It has lots of levels to it. So on the biggest level, it aims to map [00:07:20] Ruth: emissions of Arran to get an understanding of where our emissions can be improved. [00:07:26] Ruth: And then on a [00:07:27] Ruth: smaller level than that, it's also about making people's homes more efficient so that they are warmer and their bills are less. Especially during this cost of living crisis, I think everybody's certainly feeling the pain and the pressure of increased energy bills. So, I get that net zero can be a bit of a jargon term for folk and can be a bit off-putting. [00:07:49] Ruth: But really on a basic level, it's about reducing waste and trying to make things more efficient so that yes, it's good for the environment, but it's also good for your pocket and that you save money in the process. [00:08:03] Madeleine: What do you think is the most useful resource in terms of community climate action that you would point people to? [00:08:10] Ruth: I'm gonna kinda cheat and say two. I think the best resource that you can have is having conversations with folk and learning about what's happening, having conversations about your opinions and what people that your friends and family have heard and their thoughts. But also I'm a massive fan of the internet and doing your own research, being on social media, just kind of being aware of what's happening around the climate change movement. [00:08:39] Ruth: Because, you know, the mainstream media does report on it, but I think that there's a lot to be learned from smaller news outlets and blog posts and community organisations that are on the ground who are trying to deal with the climate emergency. [00:08:54] Ruth: Who might have a lot more kind of progressive opinions and ideas and also have had experience and successes that are relevant to you wherever you are. [00:09:05] Madeleine: What is your most treasured possession? [00:09:07] Ruth: Well, I wouldn't really say it's a possession? but my most treasured [00:09:11] Ruth: things would be my memories. So I would say all my life, basically, I've taken lots of photos ever since I was very young. So I would say all my photos that were physical photos that I have in photo albums. But then also now, the ones that I have that are digital pictures. I must have tens of thousands of them stored. So yeah, they would definitely be my most treasured possession. [00:09:33] Madeleine: So if you could imagine Arran 10 or 30 years from now and imagine that we've all done everything possible to limit the effects of climate change and now Arran is a fairer and better place to be. Could you close your eyes and share one memory from that future with us? [00:09:52] Ruth: The dream for Arran would be the community all living peacefully and happily together. But having much better local processes. So you know, we're able to grow our own food here. We're able to produce all the food that we need, or the majority of the food that we need here. Amazing transport systems where you don't need to have a car. Better off-road systems where the possibility of cycle lanes to link up villages. Just being much more resilient as well. And being able to function much more as a community with all the resources that we need as much as possible on our island. [00:10:32] Ruth: I think that would be pretty ideal. And preserving the natural beauty of the island and keeping the air clean and the beaches litter free and plastic free. [00:10:42] Ruth: All these fantastic things that we will have in 10 years time. [00:10:47] Madeleine:  Thank you for speaking to me about Arran Eco Savvy and also your own climate journey. [00:10:51] Ruth: Thank you for having me. Will Sherman is a 2022 National Proficiency Finalist in the category of Ag Processing.  He has been cutting meat at Mound City Butcher Block in LaCygne, Kansas since he was 14 years of age.  At age 18, just months after graduating high school he is already managing the shop.  Will takes a lot of satisfaction from cutting meat.  He sees it as a way to serve his community by preparing their meat for them, whether it be livestock or wild game.   Will is still deciding whether or not college serves his purposes, but he is sure that butchering is part of his future.  He wants to eventually own his own shop, whether that means purchasing Mound City Butcher Block or starting from scratch.  If he does attend college, his education will be geared towards making him a better business manager and butcher in his chosen profession.

Listen to Dustin's other episodes HERE Show Notes: Today's BEV headlines may be "over the top" in terms of the pace of BEV adoption, but the VIO will definitively change over time – we are forecasting the VIO at 7.3% BEV in 2030, 26.5% in 2040 and 51.2% in 2050 We know that people are talking about 60 and even 70% reductions in BEV maintenance versus ICE cars, and that may be true – but the true lifetime service of BEVs has more to do with major part failures than it does maintenance. Motors, power modules and other BEV components will fail and the aftermarket will be ready to service them. BEVs will generate new under-car and cooling system service opportunities – they are heavier and have higher torque, so suspensions, half shafts, and steering gear will see more wear than ICE cars. Cooling systems will be much more sophisticated with multi-directional and intelligent valves, PTC and Heat Pump heaters, multiple radiators, and many more fluid connectors. Multi Shop Owner- consistency of service Technology not only makes things more complex, in many cases, but that complexity is usually in the background.  Technology also makes things easier.  Not just vehicle technology itself, but tools and equipment technology.  The technology is here for a 100% automated tire changing system, but it is cost prohibitive for many/most.  It won't remain so, and if it isn't 100% automated, you'll just need someone to take the wheel off and roll it to the machine, the machine will replace the tire, maybe test the TPMS sensor, and then mount the new tire and balance it.  The human will be little more than an assistant. Technology may make vehicles, as it has already done, even more reliable, but also change how we service them. Cameron Lee-Ernie Lee's Service Center was founded in 1972 by Cameron’s grandfather. His father and Cameron now currently operate the business as a team. He went to work in the family business right out of college and started as a Tire and GS Tech and moved my way up to being the Lead Technician. Cameron serves as the Shop Manager and focuses on the day-to-day operation of the shop, developing the business, and meeting the needs of the ever-evolving aftermarket repair industry. Early in 2020 after attending Up Your Voltage by ACDC, Cameron opened another division of Ernie Lee's known as Raleigh Hybrids due to the ever-growing demand of Hybrid and EV repair and maintenance. In many ways, his role is modernizing and expanding the family business and the development of Raleigh Hybrids was a natural progression of that.  Eric Carlson has been a technician for over 40 years. His formal automotive education came from Ferris State University where he took all 8 ASE tests prior to graduation in 1977. Eric has re-certified every 5 years since. He took the L1 when it was introduced and is now L3 hybrid certified. Full disclosure: Eric is a subject matter expert for ASE and has participated in writing test questions, in the past 2 years, for the L3 test. Dezember letzten Jahres in der Holstengalerie Faustschläge, Fußtritte und einen Messerstich gegen einen 35-jährigen Piercer aus Neumünster ausgeübt zu haben.

Armando Olivares Espinoza was born in Lima, Peru and immigrated to the U.S. as a teenager and appears to have brought some of that Inka Gold with him. If more than 25% of the tree’s foliage or mass must be removed, seek the assistance of a certified arborist. Solution 2 — When the infestation is in the trunk of the tree, call an arborist to evaluate the damage and determine a safe approach to halting the infestation. Solution 3 — Prevent infestations by keeping your trees healthy. When you hear about an outbreak in your area, treat your trees with a bark insecticidal spray to deter the insects from making your tree its host. Tar spots Tar spot on maple and sycamore is not actually "tar" on the leaves, but rather a fungal disease. These diseases seldom are detrimental to the overall health of infected trees.Tar spots may cause premature defoliation but are not known to kill trees. Tar spots on maples are caused by fungi in the genus Rhytisma. Symptoms first appear in late spring or early summer as infected leaves develop light green or yellow-green spots. During mid to late summer, black tar-like raised structures are formed on the upper surface of leaves within the yellow spots Compacted soil Problem: In our yards, trees often grow in compacted soil. ◦Our yard is our backyard getaway. We run, play, walk, and enjoy our yard constantly. ◦All that foot traffic, along with lawn mowers and construction projects, creates soil compaction. Plus, major soil compaction occurred when your house was built, so if your home is newer, it’s likely you’ll see this problem. ◦Compacted soil leads to stressed soil, crushed root, and restricted root growth. Solutions: Loosen the soil to reduce compaction and stress on trees. ◦Vertical mulching replaces soil in the root zone. ◦Mix in organic matter to amend compacted soil. Dutch elm disease Fungal disease Carried by bark beetles and then once the trees “vascular” system is infected, the disease moves around How to manage Dutch elm disease •Reduce the number of breeding sites available to the beetles through prompt removal of dead or dying elm wood with intact bark. ◦Branches infected with DED should be removed the same year the infection starts. ◦Trees with many branches infected with DED should be taken down. ◦Wood from DED infected elm trees should be buried, debarked, burned or chipped. •Remove infected branches before the disease has moved into the main stem of the tree. All infected branches must be removed at least 5 feet, preferably 10 feet, below the last sign of streaking in the sapwood. •Dutch elm disease can spread through root grafts from an infected tree to adjacent healthy elms. If possible, sever root grafts with a vibratory plow before the infected tree is removed in order to prevent this movement. •Choose Dutch elm disease resistant cultivars for new plantings or as replacement trees. ◦Tolerant cultivars are not immune to the disease and may develop wilt if infected. ◦Unlike susceptible trees, tolerant elms can block the spread of the pathogen and will not be killed. ◦Infected branches should be pruned out as described above. Is there something I can do to help it .Thanks Thanks Jim A: Thank you for the question cracking can occur for 2 reasons. 1 it can be the genetics of that particular variety of tomatoes secondly and more commonly cracking occurs when there's an inconvenience of moisture in the soil when there's too much water the tomato will grow rapidly and outgrow its skin which causes the cracking then a dry spell occurs causing the tomato not to grow as fast. To answer the question the cracking of the tomato would simply be regular watering or consistent moisture in the soil so the plant has adequate amounts to pick up and grow correctly. A friend has some tomatoes that look good on the top are but are going brown on the bottom before they are red even when they are hanging Any idea why my Yukon Gold potatoes have a darkened hollow center? This has happened the past several years. I am in Southeast Wisconsin Hollow heart occurs because of uneven amounts of moisture during tuber development or a combination of other environmental factors. Hollow heart, sometimes called brown heart or sugar center, is found everywhere potatoes are grown and occurs when there is an abrupt change in growing conditions. Can I just let the plants spread the seeds on the ground and let them or onions come up that's what I want to know I love your podcast. I planted several kinds of pole beans. The purple ones have rust, but the neighboring beans don't seem to be affected. Is this common? How do I prevent this from happening again? How do I sanitize seeds before planting? Word for word On this podcast today we’re talking about body shop repair when there’s been an accident or other damage to a vehicle and what some of the misunderstandings are out there, what your rights are and what separates Miracle Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram from other body shops. So today on the podcast we have Marty Denson and he’s the Body Shop Manager, actually located at Miracle Ford. Marty, welcome to the podcast. Marty Denson: 01:00 Thank you John. Appreciate it. Nice talking with you. What Types of Vehicles Do You Work On? John Haggard: 01:03 Well glad you’re here. Folks want to find out some information here. Now you’re over at the Ford store. So, you only work on Ford vehicles, or how does that work? Because there is a Miracle Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram as well. Marty Denson: 01:16 Right, we work on everything. Of course we are located behind the Ford store, because that was the newest store that was built. But we do all the work for Miracle Chrysler Dodge Jeep as well. Actually we even do the work for the Toyota store here in town, but we’ll work on any make and model of any vehicle. John Haggard: 01:35 Right. And the Ram too as well, right? Marty Denson: 01:37 Oh yeah. Oh yeah, you do lots of Rams. Dealing With Warranties John Haggard: 01:39 Absolutely. You know, a lot of people today want to know about warranty. Is it factory authorized, or am I sure I’m going to get my warranty, or how does that work today? The warranty business, like let’s say if you work on a Toyota or Chevrolet or something like that. Marty Denson: 01:55 Right. Actually everything that we do, we give a limited lifetime warranty on our work. We try to keep everything, to use parts and everything that’s not going to affect your normal factory warranty, with whatever vehicle you have. So, as long as you take care of your car, even if you don’t take care of your paint or your vehicle. You know, we can’t cover regular wear and tear, but if it’s anything to do with anything we did, we definitely stand behind it. What Technology Do You Have in the Body Shop? John Haggard: 02:28 Gotcha, Gotcha. And another thing that people ask about today, especially with new vehicles is, “well, what kind of technology do you have in there, in that vehicle”, or if you think about a body shop, a lot of people think, “well there can’t be really anything too high tech in there”. But how is the body shop business, from a technology standpoint, or the equipment that you have in there, how’s that different from a few years ago? Marty Denson: 02:54 It’s quite a bit different. We try to stay up to date with all of our equipment and we have two brand new state of the art downdraft paint booths. We keep all the new modern welding equipment. We have a modern rise frame rack, if we do need any kind of frame repair and we keep all the modern scanners to help. All these new cars have a lot of sensors and codes and stuff on them. So we keep all the modern scanners so that we can keep everything programmed the way it needs to be. Body Shop Experience John Haggard: 03:24 Gotcha. Gotcha. And if you look at all the people who are there at the body shop, I guess the combined number of years of folks who have been in the business, what would that number be about? Marty Denson: 03:34 Yeah, we’ve got, with all the people that we have in the shop, we have over 200 years of experience with my staff. And then in the office we have 45 years of experience in the office. John Haggard: 03:47 Y’all are a bunch of old people. Ha! Marty Denson: 03:49 Yeah, I’ll tell ya, ha! Dealing With Insurance, Estimates, and Tennessee’s Right to Choose John Haggard: 03:49 You’ve been around for awhile. You know, depending upon where somebody may have lived, perhaps another state or maybe here in Tennessee and they just don’t know. Can you take your vehicle to any body shop or repair shop that you want to? Because I’ve heard in some cases, the insurance company will say, “well, if you don’t take that vehicle to one of our vendor approved body shops, then we’re not going to stand behind the warranty. We’re not going to help you if you have any problems”. How does that work here? Marty Denson: 04:22 Yeah. Unfortunately, that’s the kind of scare tactic that the insurance companies use to try to get people to take it to a certain shop that’s giving them discounts and different things like that. But in the state of Tennessee, it’s a right to choose state, so you can choose to take your car to any shop you want to and there’s nothing the insurance company can do about it. And actually, we give the same warranty that a shop that they’re trying to push them off to is giving. So you’re not missing out on any kind of warranty issues there. But you do have the right to choose, you can take your vehicle to any shop you want to. John Haggard: 04:54 All right. And what about the estimates? You know, because at one time, they always told you, “hey, go get three estimates, be sure you’re getting a deal”,and all this and that. How does that work now? Do you need to do that or can you just go to the body shop in back of Miracle Ford and just get one estimate or how does that work? Marty Denson: 05:13 Right. Before, usually when you got in a wreck you always went and got three estimates. You had to run all over town. It took you all day. But nowadays, insurance companies really don’t require that either. They’re going to send somebody out to look at your car and they’re going to do an estimate, or they’ll just have you come by and just maybe get one estimate to give to them. So they sort of know what they’re looking at. That keeps you from having to waste all day and run around different places trying to get estimates. A lot of that has changed. Tips to Preserve Your Vehicle’s Paint Job? John Haggard: 05:40 Gotcha. Gotcha. Now if you were just going to give two or three tips to people on how to preserve the paint job or things to look out for, or how or where you parked so you don’t get dented, or how to avoid potential body damage. Just overall preservation with the idea in mind that I want to have the highest resale value I can when I sell my vehicle. What would you tell them? Marty Denson: 06:04 I’d say, some of the most important things, especially with the paint is keep a good wax job on your car. If you keep it waxed, it keeps the paint in good shape and it won’t fade. Endeavor to keep the inside of your car clean. We see a lot of cars that come through here that it’s unbelievable how dirty they are on the inside. And try to park away from, or not to get underneath of trees where sap or different things can get on your paint. If you just keep it wiped and keep the inside clean, you’ll definitely get a whole lot more for your trade in when you do go to trade. What do You Do Outside Of Work? John Haggard: 06:39 All right, well when you’re not working eight days a week, what do you do for fun Marty? Marty Denson: 06:44 Well, I love to be outside, mainly playing golf. I love to play golf on weekends. Actually. That’s my big stress reliever. John Haggard: 06:50 So you chase that white ball on that green. Marty Denson: 06:52 Oh yeah. John Haggard: 06:53 Are you a champion golfer or what kind of score do you do? Marty Denson: 07:00 I usually stay in the low to mid eighties. But a lot of times I get just as aggravated on the course as I do everywhere else. Ha. John Haggard: 07:08 I understand there’s always, when you’re playing golf, that one out of 10 shot. If you’re a guy like me, “like, man, that felt so good”, and you think… I can do this. And then the next nine are like “I need to get off the green”, right? Marty Denson: 07:20 Oh yeah, exactly. Kevin reminds these members that Secure Ideas doesn’t have permission to test AoM. They are advised not to do anything that could harm the AoM’s production environment.”     What is the line they should not cross in this case?   You did not have access to logs, you asked that an audit plugin be installed to be able to view logs. Is that permanent, and why did they not allow access to logs prior to?   [2019-03-22 13:11 EST] AoM Support fixes the audit log plugin access. AoM Support has found that a purchase of a course through a Woocommerce plugin resulted in users being granted admin access. AoM Support provides specific order numbers. They have also done an analysis of the database backups from the last 60 days and believe that the attackers did not do anything after they got access. AoM Support announces that the Secure Ideas training site will be set up on a separate server and Secure Ideas will be granted a new level of access.   Seems like working with AoM wasn’t difficult. Was giving you access to your own instance, and allowing you to administer it a big deal for them?   Lessons Learned? She had gone from cleaning and answering the phones to being able to run the shop herself. The best part about the job is that it is always changing and there is so much opportunity for her to grow within the company. Chris Johnson, Service Manager at Total Automotive. He loves bringing customers up to speed on modern vehicle systems and maintenance needs. Explaining the value of premium parts vs cheapest fix, making sure they get their money’s worth is one of the many customer services Chris always carry.   Nick Herberger, Service Manager at Scruggs Automotive. Scruggs Automotive Repair has been providing quality car care in Williamsville, NY since 1981. It is a family owned business delivering honest and professional automotive repair and auto maintenance services to the people of Williamsville and surrounding areas. Nick started as a detailer/car wash at Dave Smith Ford before becoming a Flat Rate Tech at Firestone Complete Auto Care. He has experience as a truck tech before becoming the Shop Manager at Scruggs.   Key Talking Points: Trust. Never let your priorities change. When the customer greatly appreciates the job you did for them. All service business has an image problem. Trust helps to remove the negative image issue at your shop. Never ‘Think Outloud’ Communication is one of the biggest responsibilities. The SA knows they are the hub of the communication wheel: Technician, Customer, Owner. A disadvantage of being a technician who is now a service adviser is you overcomplicate things to the customer. Female service advisors are becoming the norm. The female customers are very comfortable. Owners need to support their female service adviser.    A big hurdle of service advisers is to get the owner to back off and support the SA as the point person. Many legacy customers want to talk to the owner. The owner needs to pass the torch with customers. Curb appeal is so important to attract the right customer. Trusting your technician is critical to a strong relationship. Tech and SA must be on the same page. Your Learning Curve Never Sounded So Good The Panel: Clint White holds the ASE Master Tech, Under Car Specialist, & Service Writer Certifications. He started wrenching in 1995 and landed his first job via BBB chat room connection. Clint moved on to manage & tech at Midas and then at an independent shop. He moved to Idaho to get away from the overcrowded West Coast and worked as a Chevrolet/Cadillac tech. Next, he managed another independent in Meridian Idaho.  While there, the owner of the business sent me to shop owners training through RLO and ATI 2-3 times a year and he also took it upon himself, at the same time, to attend Bible College full time for 2 years and become a licensed Pastor (talk about being stretched!!!).  His fire was lit !! Clint found out quickly he has a passion to OWN his own shop and a passion to TRAIN/TEACH people. His world was rocked when his father (also a Pastor) was diagnosed with Parkinson’s, Prostate Cancer, had neck surgery and a knee replacement all within a short span of time. Clint moved home to spend time with his Dad. It was a tough choice to leave what he had in Idaho but for him, family must come first. As a child, John was always into cars. That love never went away and he thought that the automotive industry would be a good place to start his career. He first worked in a parts department for a local distributor, then moved on to detailing vehicles at a Volkswagen dealership. After about a year and a half, he worked his way up to valet, then greeter and finally, service advisor which he really enjoyed and just confirmed for him that he had picked the right career path. He enjoys spending important time with his wife and daughter. If he is not watching the Niners, Warriors or Giants, you’ll find John enjoying some delicious food and/or taking in a movie.   Role Plays:   #1. A very common call ……How much is a tune up?   On this one the year make and model doesn’t matter….. Customer: John     Service Advisor: Clint       Observer/Coach: Barry We think customers ask for a price way more than they do. About 25% of prospects ask for a price. Great service advisors will get about 10% of price requests because they are using the Socratic Question method. Clint showed his pace so he slowed John down. This is a very common call, almost 50% of the calls that come in.   #2. The service writer is calling back a customer with a 2008 Toyota Highlander with over 200k miles. Customer: Clint     Service Advisor: Barry      Observer/Coach: John When they brought the vehicle in, it was running poorly and they were very open about the fact they had done little to no maintenance to the vehicle  Upon inspection it was found it needed over $4000 worth of repairs just to make it safe and reliable, not to mention a few other maintenance issues that could be...

Costume Shop Manager Carol Hammond works closely with the costume designer, and deals with all of the logistics of costuming. She oversees costumes being shopped and built, fittings, budgeting, and hiring and managing an extensive staff. At Atlanta's Alliance Theatre, Hammond and her core staff work on multiple shows at once during their annual season of ten productions. Hammond gives a tour of the Alliance Theatre's costume shop, craftshop, wardrobe, wig area, and storage.
