In this episode, he reveals how his football mindset, business vision, and passion for innovation are transforming combat sports, from cutting-edge punch-tracking tech to game-changing virtual advertising platforms. You'll discover how Merriman: * Mastered career transition – leaving the NFL on his own terms while building the Lights Out brand. * Applied sports science to the cage – from NFL hand-fighting skills to the cardio demands of MMA. * Integrated performance technology – including live punch velocity and G-force tracking for fans and coaches. * Created new revenue models – opening sponsorship opportunities for small and mid-sized businesses in combat sports. * Bridges athlete pathways – helping NFL and college football players switch to MMA. * Maintains athlete discipline year-round – the evolution of MMA training culture and its professionalisation. Whether you work in elite performance, teach sports science, or simply love hearing how science and innovation change sport, this conversation is packed with insights into performance tech, athlete development, and the business of sport. A popular narrative about great NFL QBs is that they always win and therefore, you can judge how good a Quarterback is by looking at his win-loss record. However, JT believes that it's a myth that great QBs always have winning records, and some have success based on talent and other factors around them. JT Sports discusses why NFL Quarterbacks can't be defined, solely by their win-loss record. In the recent release of the NFL Top 100 Players list, Chicago Bears QB, Justin Fields was ranked as the 86th top player in the league over Jaguars Quarterback Trevor Lawrence who was slotted at 96. This sparked the debate on social media over who's the better QB; Justin Fields or Trevor Lawrence. JT reacts to Justin Fields and Trevor Lawrence's rankings on the NFL Top 100 Players list. JT Sports reacts to the latest NFL News and Rumors involving Washington Commander's pass rusher Chase Young. In 2020 Chase Young was taken 2nd overall by the Commanders in the NFL Draft and went on to win NFL Defensive Rookie of The Year that season. Next season Chase Young would suffer an ACL in November of 2021 that kept him out of action for a year. The Commanders have declined Chase Young's 5th-year option and he could be potentially traded, garnering interest from the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jtsports/support

Cousin Sal begins the show by recapping his trip to Las Vegas and his surprise second marriage. Harry is still sick and unfortunately missed the surprise wedding but says he'll come to the next one. Aiden Hutchinson was highlighted on Hard Knocks which got the guy discussing Defensive Rookie of the Year for their Buffalo Wild Wings pick of the week as the Parlay Kid looks to make a saucey pick. Next, their college football preview continues as they preview Notre Dame (over/under 8.5 wins) in their first season under Marcus Freeman – will any of the Degenerate Trifecta take the over? Then it's Heisman and National Champion picks – will anyone go against Alabama? Finally, in Sharp Tank – Harry begs Sal to take the Arizona Cardinals to finally end the Baltimore Ravens pre-season winning streak.
The Pro Bowl linebacker from the Indianapolis Colts was the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year.
