Conspicuously absent on last month's Better Call Saul podcast, Josh Sarnecky returns to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Avatar: The Last Airbender with his brother Aaron.Avatar: The Last Airbender is an animated action-adventure series created by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko. The series premiered on Nickelodeon on February 21, 2005. It ran for three seasons and 61 episodes, finishing on July 19, 2008.The series takes place in a fantasy world where “benders” can manipulate the elements of water, earth, fire, and air. The world fell out of balance when the Fire Nation invaded its neighbors. Protagonist Aang (Zach Tyler Eisen) is the last surviving Airbender and the Avatar, who can control all four elements. He must defeat the Fire Lord (Mark Hamill) to end the war. Aiding Aang are his Water Tribe friends Katara (Mae Whitman) and Sokka (Jack DeSena), as well as Earthbender Toph (Michaela Jill Murphy).Other characters include the Fire Lord's banished son Zuko (Dante Basco), Zuko's ruthless sister Azula (Grey DeLisle), and their Uncle Iroh (Mako, Greg Baldwin). Many critics regard Avatar: The Last Airbender as one of the greatest animated series of all time, praising it for its blend of lighthearted comedy, deep themes, character growth, mythology, and martial arts-based action. The series won one Primetime Emmy for Individual Achievement in Animation and was nominated for another for Outstanding Animated Program. The cartoon spawned a sequel series, The Legend of Korra, as well as multiple comics and books. More shows and movies are in the works, including a movie following Aang and a sequel to The Legend of Korra called Avatar: Seven Havens.Aaron and Josh talk about their history with Avatar: The Last Airbender before going into the show's plot, characters, animation, and legacy. They also discuss the show's live-action adaptations and the new projects coming from Avatar Studios. For more Nicktoons, you can listen Josh and Aaron's podcasts on SpongeBob SquarePants and Rugrats.Avatar: The Last Airbender is streaming on Netflix and Paramount+
It's tough to go through life alone which is why we have those closest to us that we confide in. Best friends help make life's biggest struggles a bit more bearable. In the case of these two Nicktoons, Doug and Arnold had best friends with Skeeter and Gerald. In this character study, we are joined by the series creators Jim Jinkins and Craig Bartlett to discuss these two best friends. We look at how their alike, how they're different, and what these two character could be doing 30 years later! Join us in the studio for this special Character Study! When we think of Nickelodeon we often think of the Nicktoons, SNICK, the various game shows, and a the comedies typically immediately come to mind. But when Nickelodeon first got it's start, a majority of the programming were syndicated television shows. As Nick grew, these shows aired less and less. Syndicated shows were part of Nickelodeon's history well into the 2000's. The question is, which of these shows are among the best? It's the holiday season, and we kick off this season with a good ole Christmas episode of Rugrats. "Babies in Toyland" takes us on a magical ride of battling animatronics, entrapped caroling, and redemptive imaginative hallucinations, not at all helped by the Christmas Old Fashioned cocktails we were drinking. October is the month for anniversaries! We had a lot of very special moments throughout October of 1994 including the release of the fifth Nicktoon, Aaahh!!! Real Monsters. The Splat Attack Crew gather in the studio to discuss highlights, merchandise, rarities, and more! Ali discusses the shredding Nicktoon, Rocket Power, created by Arlene Klasky and Gábor Csupó. Come along for the ride as she highlights all the ways this sports-centric series resonates with her now compared to when she watched it as a kid, namely all the sweet sibling moments between Otto and Reggie, the many hilarious lines from Twister stemming from his naive nature, the relatability of Sam aka Squid, Raymundo as an amazing dad and Tito as a wonderful fatherly figure, and much more, including what she thinks the four friends' careers would be and a whole bunch of details she didn't remember about the show—other than the iconic term, "shoobies," and the celebratory handshake, "Woogity, woogity, woogity, woogity!"

"Animation (2D)evastation," a month dedicated to two 2D animated failed franchise starters, kicks off with a look at 1999's Doug's 1st Movie. Based on Doug, the hit series that started as one of the original "Nicktoons" on Nickelodeon, before being bought by Disney and moving to Disney for its later seasons, Doug's 1st Movie was an attempt to see if the series could make the jump to feature length. Though, to be fair, not necessarily theatrical success, at least at first, since the project was first conceived as a straight-to-video effort. So what made Disney change their minds and decide to put it in theaters, and was it a good decision? Well, we're covering it on this show, so you probably know the answer to that, but still, we're here to talk about it! Fair warning, even more tangents than usual on this ep, where me and Sam Petersen are (ostensibly) covering "Walhalla", a season 13 episode of SpongeBob Squarepants. Jeff plays a fun and deeply unhinged Wall Man but, more importantly, we dig into a fair amount of cringe Aussie TV culture, 90s Nicktoons and the criminally underrated Tony Shalhoub. A 90s cartoon category cannot be complete without a classic Nicktoon! This week the brothers get nostalgic with The Ren & Stimpy Show: Stimpy's Invention which released on the Sega Genesis in 1993. While they are not huge fans of the cartoon, the brothers had a lot of positive things to say about this game. Pete and Tom recount their experiences playing the game's co-op mode while Ant does impressions of all the characters. This week the brothers want to know what was your favorite 90s era Nicktoon - Doug, Rugrats, or Rocko's Modern Life. Text us and say hello! This week, we interrupt your regularly scheduled broadcast of Generation 'S' for a good ole' fashioned CROSSOVER episode! A few weeks back, I had the privelege of joining Sean and Ty on the Whiskeylodeon podcast, which combines two of my favorite things on this planet: booze and cartoons. You may in fact remember Ty from some previous episodes of this podcast, and so I finally had the chance to return the favor, and talk some old school Nickelodeon. This time around, we covered one of my favorite episodes of Are You Afraid of the Dark, as well as the pilot episode of a COMPLETELY forgotten gem from the early 2000s, The Journey of Allen Strange. It's a bit of longer episode, but it's because we had SO MUCH FUN. Hopefully it comes through in our episode, so kick back and enjoy! Support the Show. We've got merch!Check out the site for some awesome Gen 'S' swag :)
