1 - 25 - 2023 Cliff Numark - Vitalant Bood Donation Org by Tommy G
A born entertainer with a burning desire to play music to people around the world, Sam Divine's enigmatic sets are an effortless schooling in pure, unadulterated house. From her early days as the sole member of the Defected street team in Ibiza to fronting their radio show and now headlining some of the world's biggest clubs and festivals, The First Lady of Defected, has become an intrinsic part of the UK house music scene. The seeds of Sam's DJ career can be traced back to a pair of belt drive turntables and a battered Numark mixer set up in her Mum's shed; a pirate radio show broadcast from her bedroom using ‘borrowed' equipment from the local college and MSN Messenger, and time spent expanding her musical knowledge working at Spin Central in her hometown of Weston-super-Mare and Chemical Records in Bristol. Enjoy x
This was my very first recorded mix, recorded around 2001 on some really shitty Numark direct drive turntables and a cd recorder. one take, no edits, and you can tell lol. enjoy
In this episode of Pharmacy Magazine's In Conversation With podcast, Richard Thomas talks to Numark managing director Jeremy Meader about pharmacy's worsening funding crisis, how his members are coping on the ground, why hub & spoke may not be the answer for independents and what plans the expanding group has for 2022. Strong opinions, the big issues covered, Jeremy doesn't hold back – it's a great listen.

Welcome to Showcasing House Music DJ Mixes by dattrax!! Hope you enjoy this mix, loved making it. Please comment & interact with us below on any mixes that you like. Made this mix when I first bought the 1st generation Traktor Kontrol S4. Now I'm mixing on the 3rd Gen for over two years now. It was released at the end of 2018 and now it's Jun2021.This is the 2nd mix made with the Traktor Kontrol S4 (pictured top). 1st mix w/ S4 is "DIRECT DRIVE" below. Starting to get used to the basic functions of this gear. Pretty good response time on the jog wheels (but not precise when you release the jog wheel for cueing), and nothing beats the tactile feel of time-coded vinyl set-ups whether with Serato-Rane or Traktor Pro2 DJ systems. I also really like the feel of Numark's NS7, so I'd probably like the Numark V7's also since they're a grade above NS7s.Native Instruments (NI) made a good product with this Traktor Kontrol S4 midi-controller and their online support is top notch. I'm not a tech person, so had to contact them often and read 90pgs of their 235pg PDF manual. Heavy duty construction, very cool black enamel finish, rubberized EQs and EFX knobs, spacing between knobs are not too tight, and an overall larger footprint than regular controllers, which I like. Cool to have an internal soundcard that records your mix right into your computer. I can stop lugging a mini-disc player to friends' places for a while. Still be visiting my best friend and DJ partner, Jim's serato-rane-vinyl set-up. Still like that best.My main complaint about the S4 is that the pitch/tempo faders on either side & the crossfader are plasticky and too loose- not enough tension. I mean you'll get used to it eventually, but not ideal. The pitch faders also need to have a longer physical range (but I guess they think not too many old school DJs like us will use and every kid in their bedroom is just going to sync everything). And although the jog wheels have a slight magnetic weighting, it'd be cool to be able to adjust the tension. And it would be amazing to have spinning platters that are a lot bigger (at least 7inchs in diameter), but that would defeat the purpose of what they want to do in creating this product to be portable. I wouldn't use it to play a gig though. Good for making mixes at home, but still not trusting of fully digital systems for live events. CDs are a more sure bet for now.I also got tons of static system pops and clicks when attached to my laptop (Intel's dual-core2 at 1.67GHZ w/ 3gigs of RAM, 32bit Window's 7- Home Edition) and this is even after following NI's suggestions for optimizing computer for audio DJing. So now I plug into my desktop (Intel's quad-core at 2.67GHZ w/ 8gigs of RAM, 64bit Window's 7-Ultimate) and haven't had a problem since.Haven't used the sync, hot cues, sampling, looping or any of that extra stuff yet. Don't have time to finish the manual and play with those features right now. With the type of house that we spin, probably won't be doing too much of that stuff anyways, but it is fun to have options. As always - massive thanks to the amazing vocalists, producers, DJs and dancers (even in your homes or while walking about) for their incredible advancement of this beautiful musical genre!! Makes us all feel young, vibrant and extremely happy!!---------------Still having a challenge assigning the EFX boards on either top corner to any channel. Right now they are locked to one channel each side, so I can only apply three effects to each channel instead of six to either channel. I'm sure Native Instruments will help me with that. And they also gave me a BONUS Traktor Pro 2 upgrade in early april which is super cool and worth $80USD and multiple bug fixin' updates since I bought it a month or so ago (much appreciated NI!!). Very happy with this company, Native Instruments' support and quality of software/hardware is top shelf. Here's their site: http://www.native-instruments.com/#/en/products/dj/traktor-kontrol-s4/Hopefully this will tie me over till I can afford a real home DJ mixing system. This will be the dream set-up: Traktor Pro 2 DJ software & convertor box, Traktor control vinyls, Pioneer DJM2000 dj mixer, 2 Technics 1200s and 2 Pioneer CDJ-2000's, Traktor control CDs and kick butt JBL speakers & crazy powerful desktop computer w/ huge monitor. That would probably be around $10k, so it's still a pipe dream. Traktor Kontrol S4 is a poor man's version of a dream home DJ system at 1/10 of that cost.---------------There's a PayPal donate button on the right if you're on our main Podomatic site if you want to buy us a beer to say cheers ; )Our PayPal donation email if you are listening to our mixes on another platform. Any amount of support is welcomed. We appreciate you! dattrax@gmail.com---------------Our main mix site: https://dattrax.podomatic.com/ or at: https://www.podomatic.com/podcasts/dattrax or Google "dattrax" and find the Podomatic link.+ 3rd track in is "In Too Deep", which is a Phil Collins tribute bootleg by Toronto's Jason B. Happy Retirement Mr. Collins.THIS IS THE BEST OPTION: You can download the free "Podomatic" app, sign up with your email, then search 'dattrax' and subscribe to 'house music by dattrax'. It has a cute pic of my youngest boy when he was little and over my DJ mixer. BOOM!! 120+ mixes, the last 27yrs of our lives in the crack of time between family, friends and work.---------------All tracks bought from https://www.traxsource.com/ and https://www.beatport.com/This mix was created on a Native Instrument's "Traxtor Kontrol S4" controller MK3 version, a crappy PC laptop and No sync applied.

Paul Azizeh Presents TL Sessions: Episode 48 Feat. DJ WhistleRhttp://ia601508.us.archive.org/16/items/PaulAzizehPresentsTLSessionsEpisode48Feat.WhistleR_20181201/Paul%20Azizeh%20Presents%20TL%20Sessions_%20Episode%2048%20Feat.%20WhistleR.mp3This Is Paul Azizeh and welcome to an exciting new episode of TL Sessions. We’re closing out the year with a very special guest DJ coming to TL Sessions, he’s one of the most respectful Trance DJ’s in Seattle WA and his name is DJ WhistleR. It was the late 1990's, names like Tiesto & Armin Van Buuren were rising young stars in the electronic dance world. Victor Cape also known as DJ WhistleR was swept off his feet by the trance sound so much that by year 2000, he was inspired to buy 2 Technics turntables and a Numark mixer to begin teaching himself how to mix. One short year later in 2001, Whistler started Lovetribe Productions in Seattle and crafted annual events: Lucky Charms, Divalicious, Organik along with one-offs called Loveshack & Keeping Seattle Tidy. Along the way, he worked religiously to rock the dance floor no matter the event big or small earning much love & respect in the Seattle electronic scene where he eventually caught the attention of USC and earned an opening slot for Seattle's biggest annual Halloween Massive...Freaknight 7. Since then, Whistler have played at numerous raves and clubs in Vancouver, Canada; Portland, OR.; Sacramento, CA.; San Francisco, CA.; Los Angeles, CA.; and Las Vegas, NV. For Techno-Logik, Whistler is laying down a deep tech vocal trance set that touches various elements of the sound he is known for.NOTE: may contain explicit material, we've cleaned it up to have a clean mix but just wanted the listeners to be aware.Thank you to the artists who produce the music to make these shows possible. One Sound Design turntable, a pitch controlled Sound Design dual cassette deck, and a two-channel Numark mixer. Later to move on to two Technics 1200 turntables and a Denon DJ mixer. At a young age he realized his desire to spin music for the masses. It first started when he and his friends would breakdance and listen to music via cassettes. He and his friends would come together to battle each other with moves and develop routines to perfect the art. Realizing the need to continuously change out cassettes, he quickly realized the need to blend music. Also with Freestyle music merging on the scene and rising on the airwaves, he quickly realized his passion. Collecting 12” Freestyle vinyl in the early years, he began to immerse himself behind the decks for countless hours to create mixtapes for his friends, all the while teaching himself the art of beat mixing, transitions, simple scratch, beat counting and editing. Here is a hour of Smooth House to reflect on this Memorial Day Weekend.....
Producing deep moody minimal, JADA have released on Binaural arts (Ro), Soblazn Music (Ukraine), 4Plae Records (UK) and Unfelde records. More new EPs are to follow in 2017, as are plenty more surprises that showcase JADA's dark, hypnotic sound. The JADA girls bounce off one another as DJ’s and play back to back with such pleasure. Alongside their residency at Sankeys Ibiza they have played at numerous gigs this year in Romania, London and Ibiza and have been signed to Atmos Artist Agency. Brought up in London by a father who has an equal passion for music and vinyl records as Kirsty, from a young age it was naturally in her blood. "My best memory as a child was my dad showing me how to put a needle on a record". Kirsty learnt to play many instruments at school such as the violin, guitar and piano. In her teenage years she bought her first pair of Numark belt drive turntables and started to buy records with her Brother. "I found that i had a liking to the rave scene very young because I was so passionate for the music, it felt healing for me”. From then on she collected music and played records until she met Jade in 2014. It started for Jade when she was picked out from her school to play her clarinet infront of huge audience along side the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. This was when she realised she wanted to perform and that sharing her gift became so important. Reading and writing music is something of which her Great grandfather taught her and this is why today she is so passionate about her productions. Jade was born in Leicester and fell into the illegal rave scene at 15. She saw playing records at parties and making people dance a way of life and has continued to do so until today. Jade moved to the white isle in 2014 the year she met Kirsty. https://soundcloud.com/jada-69 https://www.facebook.com/wearejadamusic/ https://www.facebook.com/sndbucharest/

Chicago’s Black Business Radio Network (All Black! All News! All You!) This segment is called CBBN Business Journals, where we interview business owners and other innovators from around the world. Joining us today will be recording artist/producer MAZEMENT. At the age of eleven Mazement learned the art of turntablism beginning with a set of Numark turntables. Within the next year he was enrolled in courses at Scratch DJ Academy (in NYC). Around that time he started making instrumentals while continuing to DJ local events. With the instrumentals came poetry. The poetry later turned into lyrics, which then were applied over the self-created instrumentals. Although Mazement started off in hip hop, he's always had a broad taste of music, from hip hop to dubstep, from rock to folk, etc. Even though he's been involved with music for over a decade, Mazement is now starting the career as an independent artist with positive knowledge of the industry and experience to support it. Find out more about Mazement at: http://www.mazement.co/ Follow Mazement on Twitter: @Mazement Click HERE to listen to the music of Mazement on Reverbnation. Since 2008 does the sympathetic Bremen girl spin the turntables and has already lost the status as a secret favorite. Only one year later Bebetta won the „Tresor Newcomer-Award“ and travelled since then with her record case from Frankfurt throughout the world. Special stations are the Greenspace Festival Hanoi, Fusion Festival, Nature One as well as the Dr. Sax in Turin. The elapsed time was well used since then: In 2010 Akai Professional appoints Bebetta as one of its prestigious pro-artists and she wins Numark and Ortofon as her sponsors. Bebettas radio show „Straight Night Radio“ on Play.fm went on air in the same year together with her party „Heimlich“ in the Hanseatic city of Bremen. „Heimlich“ is not only about partying itself, its a platform for Bebettas secret favorite artists. Bebettas sound ranges from melodic house rhythms of driving techhouse to straight techno. Dubby sounds and refreshing surprise moments harmonize in a clear structure. Her light-hearted set lacks neither charm nor the good mixing technique. A mixture that works excellent on the international level. Her charisma and a keen sensitivity to the audience is always reflected in the set itself, which characterizes Bebettas groove. The whole is refined with Bebetta´s popular giveaways, whose unique style can raise a collectors heart beat by a second. These includes eg. her project „Bags for Kenya“, in which Bebetta auctioned since 2012 limited selfmade bags and donates their proceeds a Kenya-help project. In 2011 and 2012 Bebetta is among the top 10 of some polls in the category „Newcomer of the year“ and with her dj-mixes she reached som top chart placements in the „Top 100“ on Play.fm. Since mid-2011 Bebetta works on her own productions and she published in may 2012 her first release „Herr Kapellmeister“ on Damm Records. In the same year remixes on Mimique Records and Ton Liebt Klang. A lot to talk about this week - we are temporarily joined by Rich Hilton who's in the UK and about to do a Chic gig at Kew Gardens in London. Sadly the hotel bandwidth is just not up to it. But nevertheless, we first discuss Avid's recent sale of M-Audio and AIR Software Group to inMusic - the new company for Akai, Alesis, Numark, Alto an others, then Android Jellybean 4.1 seems to be readying itself for audio - witness Korg's Polysix on the Miselu Niero at Google IO, then we take a look a the latest screencast from Bitwig - the new DAW thats about to hit Beta and finally some Modular action from Gregg Wilson and his amazing 8ft Eurorack system.

Welcome to the DJ Tomas Early Mix series, a digitized archive of early DJ mixes recorded between 1994 and 2000 and duplicated on cassette tapes. In 1995 I was living in a studio apartment on South Cloverdale Street near West 6th St. in mid-town Los Angeles. I had two Techniques decks set up on milk crates, an archaic handed-down Numark mixer and a cassette deck. It was on this set up that I recorded my first formal mixtape, live in one take to cassette, tape hiss and all. The original tape copy was brought to Smitty, a rave music tape duplicator based in San Fernando Valley, who I paid to press up around 200 copies. At the time I was DJing with Jun from Umoja Hi-Fi at Nova Express (opened '93, closed '08) on Fairfax Blvd, a late-night coffee & pizza cafe. Our night was called Goa Dub, one of the first club nights to feature ambient, trip-hop, dub and downtempo music in an all-ages after-hours space (most weeks we DJed till 4 a.m.). The music on this mix represents the tracks and moods of that time. I no longer have the complete track listing but some artists I recognize include Mad Professor, DJ Shadow, Manaseh, A Guy Called Gerald, Funki Porcini, Fila Brazillia, Edge Test, Sub-Surfing, Bandulu, Biosphere and others. Part One: Liquid focuses on ambient electronic sounds, beat-less soundscapes and some dubby techno. Part Two: Solid is downtempo and trip-hop beats. Cover design by Guy from Funk Pistol, Hawaii. Enjoy!

dattrax: Just bought about 25 new tracks from www.stompy.com and www.traxsource.com + a few older tracks and then banged out this mix. 3rd track in is "In Too Deep", which is a brand new Phil Collins tribute bootleg by Toronto's Jason B. Happy Retirement Mr. Collins. Hope you enjoy this mix, loved making it. Please comment & interact with us below on any mixes that you like. This is the 2nd mix made with the Traktor Kontrol S4 (pictured top). I also really like the feel of Numark's NS7, so I'd probably like the Numark V7's also since they're a grade above NS7s. Native Instruments (NI) made a good product with this Traktor Kontrol S4 midi-controller and their online support is top notch. Still like that best. My main complaint about the S4 is that the pitch/tempo faders on either side & the crossfader are plasticky and too loose- not enough tension. CDs are a more sure bet for now. I also got tons of static system pops and clicks when attached to my laptop (Intel's dual-core2 at 1.67GHZ w/ 3gigs of RAM, 32bit Window's 7- Home Edition) and this is even after following NI's suggestions for optimizing computer for audio DJing. So now I plug into my desktop (Intel's quad-core at 2.67GHZ w/ 8gigs of RAM, 64bit Window's 7-Ultimate) and haven't had a problem since. Haven't used the sync, hot cues, sampling, looping or any of that extra stuff yet. Don't have time to finish the manual and play with those features right now. With the type of house that we spin, probably won't be doing too much of that stuff anyways, but it is fun to have options. Still having a challenge assigning the EFX boards on either top corner to any channel. Here's their site: http://www.native-instruments.com/#/en/products/dj/traktor-kontrol-s4/ Hopefully this will tie me over till I can afford a real home DJ mixing system. Traktor Kontrol S4 is a poor man's version of a dream home DJ system at 1/10 of that cost. BTW... if you enjoy this mix, then why don't you buy us a beer? There's a PayPal DONATE button on the top right side of this website. For Toronto or Global bookings: dattrax@gmail.com
