He pleaded open to the court and the judge gave him 40 years with 5 served in custody, 15 years of probation, then backloaded 20 years if there is a probation violation. Messi would like the court to make a decision if they infringe on the trademark and trade dress.The prosecutor in the Menedez Brothers case recommended resentencing. I explain why, if the judge agrees on December 11th, 2024, they will not be let out right away.Sarah Boone was convicted of Second Degree Murder after just an hour and half of jury deliberation. I will cover the sentencing on December 2nd, 2024.Shasta County and its sheriff's office, agreed to settle the improper seizure of a then 9-year-old girl's goat called Cedar for $300,000 while Mark Longo's pets - Peanut the Squirrel and Fred the Racoon - were seized and euthanized by the New York Department of Environmental Conservation. The headlines are saying that Alex Murdaugh settled the Mallory Beach Boat Crash case. I break down the settlement filings to get a complete understanding of what happened with this case. We are still waiting on rulings with regard to 'Courthouse Becky's' case.Charlie Adelson is requesting a new trial because his attorney, Mr. Rashbaum, who represented him during the trial where he received a guilty verdict, had previously represented his mother, Donna Adelson, during the investigation process of the case. This conflict of interest with an attorney could cause a problem during the appellate process and I will keep an eye on what decision will be made in the future.Tom Girardi is also asking for a new trial on the basis that he was not competent to stand trial during that time. Tanya McAlpin, a person who was hired by the Girardi family to transport him from the living facility to the court, wrote an affidavit explaining that he would say things and behave in ways that showed he was not aware of what was going on. Bryan Kohberger is set to start trial in August 2025, and Sean ‘Diddy' Combs is set for trial in May 2025. It's unlikely that Diddy will go to trial in May as scheduled due to the amount of digital evidence in the case. Diddy is still trying to be released from custody and is asking to have his appeal argued in early November. Even when cases go to trial, it doesn't mean they are done as Alec Baldwin has been learning. Prosecutor Kerri Morrissey is still pursuing her motion to have the court reconsider dismissing Baldwin's case with prejudice. That isn't set for hearing yet. They are asking for oral arguments.On Thursday, September 12th, 2024, Harvey Weinstein was indicted again in New York. According to Law360 reporting, the indictment will remain sealed until Weinstein is arraigned, which has yet to happen due to his deteriorating health. According to Weinstein's representative he was rushed to the hospital on Sunday, September 8th, 2024, for emergency open heart surgery.In his status conference in Illinois, Girardi wasn't present and prosecutors asked to continue to the pre-trial conferences until December 18th, 2024. They indicated that they may drop the charges against Girardi after his sentencing on December 6th, 2024 in Los Angeles.The Bryan Kohberger trial moves to Ada County's Fourth District located in Boise and gets appointed a new judge, Judge Steven Hippler. This means that trial dates and other deadlines are now subject to change.In the infamous viral clip, Redden is accused of leaping over the bench and attacking a Las Vegas Judge Holthus. He was charged with Attempted Murder of a victim 60 years of age or older. On the second day, after hearing the testimony of Judge Holthus and her law clerk, Redden pleaded Guilty but Mentally Ill. For last week's podcast, I went over the arrest of former Police Officer, Matthew Farwell, for the murder of Sandra Birchmore and the Feds charging him with Killing a witness or victim. I answered some of the questions you had in the comment section of the video and what could come next.Governor Healey of MA brought in Lieutenant Colonel Jeffrey Noble from New Jersey as the new Head of State Police. Not only is it good news to appoint someone from outside the state, I wouldn't be surprised if they end up under a consent decree. Kari Morrisey filed a fifty-two page motion to reconsider Alec Baldwin's dismissal with prejudice on a request to exceed the page limit. The Judge denied the state's motion for extension of page limits and cited case law that talks about deterring frivolous filings. Upon the successful completion of that probation, there will be no conviction on her record. The prosecution responded that Hannah is eligible for a conditional discharge, however, it should not be granted because other felonies are pending and cites failure to accept responsibility due to what was said in the recorded jail calls. The state detailed how they followed the rules of the grand jury and why the trial should move forward. They also explained the reason for rescinding the original plea deal. The state says that after they extended the plea deal to Alec Baldwin, they never responded to the email, told a reporter about the nature of the plea deal, commissioned a documentary about the shooting, and pressured witnesses to be interviewed in the documentary.In a new filing, Diddy and his son, Christian "King" Combs, were sued by a crew member and bartender on a yacht. The attorney representing this case is the same attorney representing Lil' Rod. In an unrelated case, the attorney has been referred to the discipline committee for filing cases in federal court to boost media attention.Bryan Kohberger had a fiery hearing. Federal Prosecutors had offered Alex Murdaugh a plea deal based on his truthful interviews and disclosures about any criminal activity, where the proceeds of the crimes have gone etc.For that, they would ask that the sentence on the federal crimes run concurrently with the state financial crimes, for which he is already serving 27 years. Since Alex's plea deal will not move forward, the judge will most likely apply an upward variance from the proposed guideline ranger.Alec Baldwin's attorneys filed over 700 pages in support of their Motion to Dismiss the grand jury indictment, arguing that the prosecution gave inappropriate jury instructions to the grand jury and that the prosecution acted in bad faith when they failed to present exculpatory evidence.The prosecution has extended time to respond and the court hasn't set a hearing on this yet. However, the trial date in July will be here before you know it. Hannah's defense made an emergency motion for a new trial and release, in a hearing on March 29, 2024, the court denied both motions and reminded counsel that the sentencing would go forward as scheduled on April 15, 2024.Kouri Richins is now facing 11 charges, including counts of attempted murder, mortgage fraud, insurance fraud, and forgery. It is also revealed that the prosecution offered Bladwin the same plea deal given to Dave Halls - six months of unsupervised probation and a misdemeanor charge. But in a curious turn of events, the prosecution withdrew the offer 10 days before the offer expired and indicted him.Hannah Gutierrez has filed a new trial motion because of a New Mexico Supreme Court decision unrelated to her case. The prosecution responded to the motion and a hearing has been set for Friday, March 29th. I will cover it on my long-form channel.Kouri Richins' warrant was unsealed. There was speculation that her mother helped plan Eric Richins' murder. There will be a Preliminary Hearing on May 15th.Lastly, there was a breakdown of a Bryan Kohberger hearing from February 28th. It consisted mainly of discovery status and scheduling deadlines. No trial date has been scheduled yet. A hearing for the Motion for Change of Venue has been scheduled for May 14th. She was convicted of Involuntary Manslaughter and acquitted of Tampering with Evidence.
