Gene and cohost Tim Swartz present the return of paranormal blogger Red Pill Junkie. The mysterious RPJ (Miguel Romero) is an artist, writer and frequent guest on podcasts like "Where Did the Road Go?," "Radio Misterioso." and of course "The Paracast." He also collaborates on pages like "The Daily Grail." On the agenda is a close look at UFO abductions and folklore, and the possibilities for disclosure. Agnostic Gnostic, walking conundrum & metaphysical oxymoron (with emphasis in the "moron" part), RPJ says that he lives a double life: By day he serves as Grand Master of the International Sacred Order of Lucha Libre, but at night he impatiently awaits for the return of the mothership in Mexico City as well as pursuing his life-long study of everything considered mysterious and/or "paranormal," a term he personally detests. RPJ is also a gifted artist, and his work has been used in a variety of ways, such as book covers, and, of course, some of our cartoon caricatures for The Paracast. We observe ten years of The Paracast with a special roundtable featuring two of our guest co-hosts over the years, Greg Bishop, of “Radio Misterioso,” film producer Paul Kimball, and long-time forum participant and moderator Goggs Mackay. We talk about the state of paranormal research, how our views have changed over the years when it comes to individual cases, such as Roswell, and the possible causes of the UFO phenomenon. The panel also discusses things that might be done to make research more productive; what about the evidence contained in those UFO databases, what about free and transparent evaluation of all the evidence? The discussion also includes the plight of the experiencer, how their lives have been impacted by their experience, and where UFO abductions may fit in. And what about “panic in the woods” and the “Oz Factor”? Sadly Goggs is no longer with us.

From the World War II years to 1965, the artist and humorist and hugely influential architect Harry Oliver published his Desert Rat Scrap Book from a hand-built adobe in the California desert. He called it "the only newspaper you can read in the wind," because the whole thing was printed on a single sheet of sturdy colored cardstock, folded down to mailing size. UFO & Fortean author and Radio Misterioso host Greg Bishop joins us tonight to talk about our shared fascination with .... not flying saucers, but Harry Oliver! New soundscapes by RedBlueBlackSilver, written & produced by Ken Layne. This is EPISODE #205: ODE TO HARRY OLIVER, KING OF THE DESERT RATS. Interested in “facts that don't fit” from an early age, in 1991, Greg Bishop co-founded a magazine called THE EXCLUDED MIDDLE, which was a journal of UFOs, conspiracy research, psychedelia and new science. It ceased publication in 1999. WAKE UP DOWN THERE!, which anthologized many of the articles and features, was published in 2000 by Adventures Unlimited Publishing.Greg's second book was PROJECT BETA: THE STORY OF PAUL BENNEWITZ, NATIONAL SECURITY, AND THE CREATION OF A MODERN UFO MYTH (2005 Simon & Schuster/ Pocket Books), which documented a government campaign of disinformation perpetrated against an unsuspecting U.S. citizen. WEIRD CALIFORNIA, a portrait of strange and eerie history and places in the Golden State, was released by Sterling Publishers and Barnes & Noble in 2006. Greg contributed about 75% of the material and photos. From December 2007 to November 2011, Greg blogged for the UFO and paranormal site Ufomystic. His last book was IT DEFIES LANGUAGE. It is composed, for the most part, of entries from that blog along with older material and brand new articles written just for the collection. In 2019, along with co-writer Adam Gorightly, he co-wrote A IS FOR ADAMSKI: THE GOLDEN AGE OF THE CONTACTEES about the UFO contact movement. For two years, Greg hosted THE HUNGRY GHOST, a radio show of interviews and music airing on pirate FM station KBLT in Los Angeles. His current show, RADIO MISTERIOSO is available at www.radiomisterioso.comHe is currently running a project called THE UFOLOGY TAROT, which honors and examines the history of UFO research and events in the tarot card format. The 22 Major Arcana cards have recently been completed and Kickstarter pre-orders are about to ship.Greg visits with Dean to share a peek and discuss some of the card artwork (beautifully realized by artist Miguel Romero, aka "Red Pill Junkie"). They also chat about the process that went into their creation, and the significance of the cards themselves. As well as recent trends in UFO belief in research.Do not miss this insightful and fascinating conversation with one of the leading thinkers in Ufology today! This show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/4602609/advertisement

On this episode of Radio Wasteland, we welcome Author Joshua Cutchin. We talk about THIEVES IN THE NIGHT: A Brief History of Supernatural Child Abductions. "Folklore has always warned of hidden dangers lurking in the shadows, otherworldly beings who seek to steal that which parents hold most dear. In the first book dedicated solely to the subject, Joshua Cutchin traces this primal concern from antiquity to the modern era—beginning with worldwide tales of faeries, changelings, spirits, demons, and monsters, before examining more contemporary phenomena such as Sasquatch kidnappings, alien abductions, and mysterious disappearances in national parks. Folklore, medicine, science, and spirituality come together for a uniquely scholarly perspective on the thieves in the night." JOSHUA CUTCHIN has appeared on a wide variety of paranormal programs discussing his work, including Coast to Coast AM, Mysterious Universe, Binnall of America, Expanded Perspectives, Radio Misterioso, and the Gralien Report. He is the author of four books: 2015's "A Trojan Feast: The Food and Drink Offerings of Aliens, Faeries, and Sasquatch" (translated into Spanish as "Banquete Troyano"); 2016's "The Brimstone Deceit: An In-Depth Examination of Supernatural Scents, Otherworldly Odors, & Monstrous Miasmas"; 2018's "Thieves in the Night: A Brief History of Supernatural Child Abductions"; and 2020's "Where the Footprints End: High Strangeness and the Bigfoot Phenomenon, Volume I: Folklore," with Timothy Renner. Joshua is also a contributor to Robbie Graham's 2017 collection of ufological essays "UFOs: Reframing the Debate," as well as David Weatherly's 2018 Sasquatch collection "Wood Knocks: Vol. 3." Excerpts of his work have appeared in FORTEAN TIMES and EDGE SCIENCE. The Paracast -- The Gold Standard of Paranormal Radio

Coming June 3 on The Paracast (www.theparacast.com): Gene and cutting-edge commentator Greg Bishop, host of “Radio Misterioso” spend the episode discussing a variety of subjects related to the world of the paranormal. What, for example, is Greg’s co-creation theory about UFOs and other phenomena all about anyway? Does it mean that he’s unwilling to accept the extraterrestrial hypothesis as the answer to the UFO mystery? A wide-range of topics are discussed, including spirit phenomena and other weird events. And in a short pop culture segment, Greg mentions that the late comic actor, Mel Blanc, the legendary “man of a thousand voices,” actually sang a song with the words “flying saucers” in the title.

The Paracast -- The Gold Standard of Paranormal Radio

In this special episode, Gene presents cutting-edge commentator Greg Bishop, host of "Radio Misterioso" and, as usual, he offers a freewheeling approach to paranormal mysteries. Greg will explain why he's not interested in speculation about possible extraterrestrial visitors as being the source of UFOs, citing the co-creation theory, in which the witness participates to some degree in the event. There will also be discussions on the possible implications of the Pentagon UFO study. Greg will be joined by the inimitable Don Ecker, host of Dark Matters Radio. Both will present overviews of the contactee movement, as Greg previews a forthcoming book on the subject that he's written with Adam Gorightly, who often calls himself a "crackpot historian."

Greg contributed about 75% of the material and photos. From December 2007 to November 2011, Greg blogged for the UFO and paranormal site Ufomystic. His current book "It Defies Language" is composed for the most part of entries from that blog along with older material and brand-new articles written just for the collection. For two years Greg hosted The Hungry Ghost, a radio show of interviews and music airing on pirate FM station KBLT in Los Angeles. His current show, Radio Misterioso, can be heard at radiomisterioso.com. Interviews with fringe-topic researchers and weird music are the usual fare.

Recorded March 5th, 2017 We welcome first time guest Greg Bishop to the show. We've been wanting to speak to Greg for a long time to get his views on UFOs, "alien" contact, and government disinformation. We discuss all these with Greg and get pretty philosophical about the nature of reality, language, the concept of co-creation, and liminal states. We're also really excited to get the chance to hang out at Guy Malone's Modern Challenges to the Extraterrestrial Hypothesis". Gene and guest co-host Greg Bishop, of "Radio Misterioso," present noted Canadian UFO researcher Chris Rutkowski with a UFO sighting update. For Halloween, he'll also focus on "ghosts and UFOs," and where here are, in fact, actual differences, or if they are actually two manifestations of the same phenomenon. He'll also cover his articles on the dangers of UFO fandom, and what Canadians actually believe about UFOs. Says his bio: “Chris Rutkowski, BSc, MEd, is a Canadian science writer and educator, with a background in astronomy but with a passion for teaching science concepts to children and adults. Since the mid-1970s, he also has been studying reports of UFOs and writing about his investigations and research.”

Most cannot believe their eyes, yet some of these observers have also detected evidence of a more ephemeral nature--odors abound, in particular the stench of brimstone. In the first book of its kind, Joshua Cutchin, author of the highly praised A Trojan Feast, documents these uncommon scents and poses a startling possibility... that smell is a sense ripe for deception. We trust our eyes and ears, but should we trust our noses? His third book, Weird California, was released in 2006. He also wrote for the famed UFO/paranormal site Ufomystic for five years. It Defies Language! released in 2016,is a collection of essays on UFOs, the government, and fringe issues and personalities. His show Radio Misterioso, (radiomisterioso.com) now in its 17th year, features interviews with fringe-topic researchers and occasionally, weird music. He also flies paragliders and is a licensed private pilot, as well as an aerial drone photographer. The Paracast -- The Gold Standard of Paranormal Radio

Gene and guest co-host Greg Bishop, host of "Radio Misterioso," present Erica Lukes, a UFO researcher who has been passionate about UFOs, abductions and the paranormal for her entire life. After a series of personal UFO sightings in 2013, Erica felt compelled to find out what was taking place in Utah. She took a more active role and joined MUFON, becoming a MUFON Field Investigator and then State Director for MUFON in Utah. Erica worked as an Associate Producer for the MUFON Communications team and was also part of the MUFON Experiencer Research Team. She is currently head of the Utah UFO Research Project, an organization dedicated to scientifically researching UAP.

The Paracast -- The Gold Standard of Paranormal Radio

Gene and Chris observe the passing of Albert K. Bender, once a UFO researcher who was instrumental in establishing the legend of the Men In Black in the early 1950s, a topic that has infused our popular culture and resulted in three blockbuster sci-fi films starring Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones. The guest panel includes Nick Redfern, a prolific author of books on UFOs and the paranormal, some of which have focused on the MIB, and cutting-edge commentator Greg Bishop, of "Radio Misterioso," Greg's book of essays on all things paranormal, "It Defies Language," includes a foreword from Nick and illustrations from blogger Red Pill Junkie.

The Paracast -- The Gold Standard of Paranormal Radio

We welcome cutting-edge commentator Greg Bishop, of "Radio Misterioso," to talk about his fascinating new book, "It Defies Language." The book, with amazing illustrations from Red Pill Junkie, is "A collection of essays about the UFO subject and related phenomena. The first chapter discusses the U.S. Government's involvement along with the author's personal experiences with agents and military personnel. The text also includes historical perspectives on the subject, and theories and opinions on the current search for answers about UFOs from a viewpoint that is neither belief-based nor that of a doctrinaire skeptic. There are also entries about square craters on the Moon, black-eyed kids, and baseball games at Area 51." Nick Redfern wrote the foreword.

The Paracast -- The Gold Standard of Paranormal Radio

We observe ten years of The Paracast with a special roundtable featuring two of our guest co-hosts over the years, Greg Bishop, of "Radio Misterioso," film producer Paul Kimball, and long-time forum participant and moderator Goggs Mackay. And what about "panic in the woods" and the "Oz Factor"? The discussion continues on this week's episode of After The Paracast.

And others like Mira Bartaulk, Grant Cameron, Thomas Campbell, Luke Ritkowski, Rudolf Steiner, and Whitley Strieber.   Red Pill Junkie talks about his attendance at the Roswell Slide "Reveal", Conner talks about his recent scandal at the PEN Gala, and Alex talks about his plastic bag revelation. Nature is, as it were, always on its own side. So when people are destructive, or self-destructive, they are not acting against their own nature, they are just being natural in ways we don't like. Instead of talking about the natural and the unnatural — or even nature and culture — we can talk about the parts of nature we prefer and why we prefer them."                                         Adam Phillips   "Don't be a dick."                                          Phil Plait   "Learn to live with a high level of unceertainty"                                         Whitley Streiber   “I guess I should say a little bit about my method - I really am a fence sitter. I *loathe* Science and am always keen to attack it in most situations, though not here, because I love Reason and I'm perfectly aware of the difference. I also know what a concept means like Rules of Evidence. I'm not sure that's a concept as widely circulated in these circles as it needs to be - in other words, how *do* you tell shit from shinola? That's very critical. I think reason can only take us a certain distance, and           then we have to go with the divine imagination, but with all safety systems fully in operation, or the divine imagination will lead us into complete paranoia.”                                         Terramce McKenna   "Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away."                                         Philip K Dick   "Wisdom without love is not wisdom"                                         Thomas Cochmann   "Belief is the enemy"                                         John Keel   "What ?!?! You need to think before you feel?"                                         Alex's wife   Man is often too proud to examine the self-evident things which are closest to him. Zen found the followers of the Mahayana looking for truth to scriptures, to holy men and Buddhas, believing that they would reveal it to them if they lived the good life. For man's apparent humility in thinking that wisdom is something too sublime to reveal itself in the ordinary affairs of his life is a subtle form of pride. Inwardly he feels that he must be so great as to be removed from the things of the world before he can receive truth, and such is his pride that he will only deign to receive it from the lips of sages and from the pages of sacred scriptures. He does not see it in human beings or in the incidents of everyday life; he does not see it in himself, for again he is too proud to see himself as he is. So far from seeking for truth he hides his imperfections under his 'meritorious deeds' and approaches the Buddhas from behind their mask.                                          Alan Watts   Grimerica’s Honey DoBeDoBeDo List: !! – Please Help support the show.
