Brook Cutchin is the secretary of the Deane Bozeman FFA Chapter in Southport, Florida. She is also just 16 years of age and slated to graduate high school one year early later this month. She is heading to college next fall and has been accepted to a programed called "3 & 3", which means in her fourth year of her bachelor's degree she simultaneously begins graduate school, which for her will be studying the law to become an attorney and advocate for agriculture. Brook first got introduced to the FFA her 9th grade year of high school when she took a required, introduction to agriculture class. At that point she realized that she wanted to raise livestock, and she has been engaged in the FFA ever since. She even raised and showed her own pig, showing and selling it at the Florida State Fair this past February. The FFA has exposed Brook to many experiences that she never expected, and it played a major role in accelerating her time high school and graduating early. One of the experiences that Brook had through the FFA, that drew my attention to her chapter, was facilitating a goat yoga class for people in her community. She, along with other chapter members and supporters of her FFA chapter, put on a goat yoga class, for free. Donations to help the chapter build a livestock barn were accepted, but there was no charge to attend. I've always wondered what the appeal of goat yoga is. Brook informed me that the point is to help people with anxiety about doing yoga in front of others, to let that go because everyone is watching the goats and not each other. I certainly believe that is what happens.
No doubt, UFOs and Aliens would be familiar to every listener of this Podcast. The mysterious and downright terrifying entities we call Aliens as well as their supposed activities here on earth are beyond notorious, indeed they are part of our culture and have been for the last 70 years. And yet, almost every aspect of Aliens and their apparent abductions has an antecedent in the folklore of Fairies. In fact, many are saying that the phenomena of UFOs and Aliens are just a modern interpretation of a somewhat spiritual experience that is intrinsically human somehow. Helping us tread into these murky waters is a someone who knows them well- author and musician Joshua Cutchin.

On our first edition of 'Behind the Paranormal with Paul & Ben Eno' for 2023: A rebroadcast of the popular show with Joshua Cutchin from Sept. 25: Are UFOs reaching out to us from beyond the stars or from beyond the grave? This seemingly bizarre question is present in both ancient folklore and modern thought, and is the focus of our discussion with author and pioneering paranormal researcher Joshua Cutchin. A basic question among many that came up: Is the paranormal all about death, or is it all about life? We'll be back live on January 8 with the one-and-only Murray Silver! Joshua Cutchin's newest work, a two-volume book entitled Ecology of Souls: A New Mythology of Death and the Paranormal, will be available both in print and e-book format! And this is the first time Josh sits down to talk about it at length and in public, because that was part of the deal he made with Barbara when she came on board the project as an editor. According to Barbara because "I did the editing, some might call me biased, but I don't care. I have read the full book, two and a half times—the half is because only some of the chapters I read a third time— and it is really, really good, and very thought-provoking. The amount of research that went into this work is staggering, and the scope of it is far beyond what Josh thought it would be. But that's ok. Because when you're going to do research a topic, do it right. Go all the way and follow the ideas to their logical endpoint. That's what's been done in this book, and the results are a fabulous labor of love. And that's all I'm going to say about it here. Why? Because we say all the other stuff in the episode, and I want you to listen to it. Ok, wait, I lied—the cover art and interior art for these books is fantastic—Johnny Decker Miller did amazing work. It's wonderful. "And Johnny's art is!

This week, we're talking to Kelly Cutchin of Casual Magic Writing. We had the pleasure of talking to Kelly about all things self-expression, including: how diet culture robs us of belonging, how discipline is a tool of oppression, and how writing is a place where everyone fits.Kelly should've been named YELLY because she's never not exclaiming something! She's a writer, writing coach, and founder of the Casual Magic Writing Community, a space where folks gather to express themselves fully and on purpose. Kelly is the unruly broad who sees you exactly as you are while creating a space for you to finally declare who you want to be by telling *all* your stories and showing yourself (and everyone else) exactly who you are. Breaking News, pals: templates for How to Write Well are a scam, and so is the belief that you have to be “talented” to write. You're invited to hang out with Kelly while she bust some myths about who gets to be creative, what it takes to be a writer, and why you're way more creative than you think. You can find learn more about Kelly and Casual Magic Writing on Instagram @kelly.m.cutchin and @casualmagicwriting, and on her website casualmagicwriting.com.You can stay up to date on all things Satisfaction Factor by following us on IG @satisfactionfactorpod!Here's where to find us:Sadie Simpson: www.sadiesimpson.com or IG @thesadiesimpsonNaomi Katz: www.happyshapes.co or IG @happyshapesnaomiFor this episode's transcript, visit: www.satisfactionfactorpod.com

Welcome to Lost River Legends. In this episode, James and I talk with Joshua Cutchin. Joshua is very well rounded when it comes to the world of the paranormal. He's able to research, process and discuss just about anything in the field. Joshua has solidified his investigative skills for focusing up the castaway or never discussed odd topics of the paranormal and diving really deep with them. As he does this, he sheds a never before seen light on these odd facets of these phenomena. For example -- in one of his books titled The Brimstone Deceit -- Joshua writes about odors associated with the paranormal - like, spiritual encounters, UFOs and Sasquatch. Joshua has been on C2C am multiple times, has appeared on Ancient Aliens, and has appeared as a guest on podcasts like Strange Familiars and Sasquatch Chronicles. Today, we invited Joshua onto Lost River Legends to discuss the Djinn. Djinn or the anglicized version, genie, are supposedly supernatural creatures in the pre-Islamic mythology and theology. In some accounts, these creatures are or were, part of the creation and are neither inherently good nor are they inherently evil. However, many witness accounts of these beings lean towards them being malevolent. They have been known to appear as animals, like snakes, owls and black dogs, or even as sand storms or mists in the desert. These creatures are also tied to wizardry and even witchcraft -- and some stories tell of ancient sorcerers conjuring the djinn into existence and forcing the being to perform orders. Such summonings were done by invocation, by aid of talismans in order to make initial contact. Today, we talk about these creatures in an attempt to understand if they are merely haunted spirits located in another part of the world, or something more sinister and dark. Even though our primary focus on this episode is on djinn, we do talk about other subjects during our conversation. We hope you enjoy this episode and thanks for listening to Lost River Legends.
If you don't think of yourself as a writer, Kelly Cutchin wants to know why. Kelly is a writer, teacher, and the host of the Casual Magic writing community. On this episode of Expanded Perspectives the guys start the show off talking about Cam's recent remodel of his bathrooms in his house and the return of baseball up in Oklahoma. Then, they get into some news about an unknown green eyed bided in Kentucky, another Glimmer Man sighting from North Carolina and a sparsely furred humanoid in Kentucky. After the break we speak with Joshua Cutchin and Timothy Renner about their new book "Where the Footprints End: High Strangeness and the Bigfoot Phenomenon, Volume I: Folklore". Our forests seem to be hiding something much more complex than an undiscovered gorilla. Bigfoot may be howling from a lonely mountaintop, but the bigfoot phenomenon is whispering secrets... if we will only listen. Eyewitnesses, investigators, and cryptozoologists worldwide contend ample evidence exists supporting the survival of large, hairy, apelike creatures alongside mankind today, lurking in the wilderness. By all appearances, these beings seem wholly natural, interacting with their surroundings and leaving behind hair, blood, droppings, and, of course, footprints. Yet despite their apparently physical nature, bigfoot and its hairy hominid kin consistently appear mired in High Strangeness—the peculiar, ineffable, and nonsensical absurdities so often encountered in paranormal phenomena. Some sightings seem more consistent with mythology than biology. Bigfoot often present supernatual attributes, like luminescent eyes or the ability to pass, ghostlike, through structures. Anomalous lights are regulalry seen in areas of frequent sasquatch activity. Footprints persistently, if rarely, display odd numbered toes, and—most bafflingly—bigfoot trackways suddenly terminate in the middle of open, untouched terrain. In Volume 1 of Where the Footprints End: High Strangeness and the Bigfoot Phenomenon, authors Joshua Cutchin and Timothy Renner carefully examine not only the intersection of hairy apemen with global folklore—of poltergeists, faeries, extraterrestrials, magic, witches, ghosts, and archetypal women-in-white—but also question the fundamental assumptions underlying contemporary cryptozoological beliefs surrounding bigfoot. Joshua Cutchin: Is a North Carolina native with a longstanding interest in Forteana. All are published by Anomalist Books. Joshua has appeared on a variety of paranormal programs discussing his work, including Coast to Coast AM, Mysterious Universe, Binnall of America, and The Gralien Report. He can be heard on the weekly podcast Where Did the Road Go? and maintains an online presence at JoshuaCutchin.com. Timothy Renner: Is an illustrator, author, and folk musician living in Pennsylvania. His illustrations have appeared in the pages of various books, magazines, fanzines and comics as well as on many record and CD covers. Since 1995, Timothy has been making music both solo and with his band, Stone Breath. Join host Greg Carlwood of The Higherside Chats podcast as he and returning guest, Joshua Cutchin explore the smells and scents associated with aliens, spirits and cryptid encounters. While we are all familiar with the lore of Greys, ghosts, and Bigfoot, one aspect we may not be as well-versed in, is the scents and smells that can accompany these entities. Today's returning guest, Joshua Cutchin, has researched the olfaction phenomena associated with these interactions and joins The Higherside to discuss his recent work, "The Brimstone Deceit". 2:30 Smell is one of the most overlooked senses, and when it comes to understanding some of the more supernatural encounters, smell can offer some uncanny insights. Joshua begins by walking listeners through the intriguing aspects of olfaction, and how time and again certain scents are associated to strange sightings and abnormal interactions with otherworldly entities. He also elaborates on how scent is specifically tied to memory and the implications of that in his research. 7:01 "The Brimstone Deceit" is broken into three categories: spirits, aliens and UFOs, & cryptids and other animal-like creatures. Cutchin details some of the commonalities throughout these sub-sects and elaborates on the prevalence of sulfurous smells during paranormal phenomena. 12:42 With sulfurous smells being so popular, and their link, in most cases, to the decomposition of organic materials, Joshua puts a finer point to what exactly these entropic scents may signify. 19:17 Because smells have been linked to both physical creatures such as Bigfoot and aliens, as well as multi-dimensional creatures including spirits and ghosts, Cutchin helps to sort out whether the more mucky smells can truly be attributed to the flash and blood beings rather than dimensional ones. 25:42 Joshua discusses the scents and smells linked to the infamous Chupacabra. He also details the circumstances surrounding the other slice of sightings involving phantom animals. 34:10 In his book, Cutchin sites and interesting case of a flying creature observed in a Chilean copper mine. Listen as he elaborates on how this deep Earth sighting fits into the paradigm of paranormal. 40:42 During their last discussion, Greg and Joshua talked about the possibility of aliens being a modern technological skin on the long history of fairy-like encounters. And, while his newest work examines aliens from a more standard E.T. hypothesis, Cutchin offers his insight on if the study of smells has objectively moved the needle in his esteemed opinion. 47:00 Greg and Joshua take a closer look into the science of smells. With smells having the ability to arouse someone from an unconscious state or knock people out, the power of smell goes much deeper than we can begin to understand.
