There's a suggestion Donald Trump's out of character treatment of new AI models shows how great the security threat is. Five Eyes agencies have issued a warning for business and government leaders that Artificial Intelligence could overwhelm defences within months, not years. The rare call to action comes after the Trump administration ordered AI giant Anthropic to suspend use of its most advanced models by foreign nationals. University of Buckingham Emeritus Professor Anthony Glees told Mike Hosking normally the President is very keen to export US tech. He says he's not doing it this time because this AI could bring all kinds of institutions close to collapse. Glees told Hosking software is being developed to find any defence vulnerabilities, and says once breached, rogue actors can wreak havoc on infrastructure, business and health services. A security expert is a bit puzzled by a call to action from Five Eyes spy agencies. In a rare joint statement, the international agencies are warning Governments and businesses to act swiftly against the imminent threat of cyber attacks helped by AI. Senior Massey University Defence and Security Centre Fellow, John Battersby, says he's concerned about artificial intelligence. But he says although the warning's alarming, it's also undefined.
