Hosted by Tara, this episode covers what may become one of the most consequential political revelations in modern U.S. history. Newly declassified documents—revealed following a bombshell announcement by Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard—confirm that the Russia collusion narrative was a complete fabrication, orchestrated by Obama-era intelligence leadership and knowingly pushed despite zero evidence. Tara breaks down reporting from Michael Schellenberger and Matt Taibbi, detailing how the CIA, under John Brennan, targeted 26 Trump associates, funneled staged intelligence through foreign actors, and then used the FBI to legitimize a hoax that consumed nearly two-thirds of legacy media coverage for years

Jared Yates Sexton is on the road without the studio setup, but he and Nick Hauselman still sound sharper than the people allegedly running the country. Nick reads a wildly unhinged letter Trump reportedly sent to Norway, a Nobel Peace Prize grievance tour that somehow swerves into Denmark, Greenland, and demands for “complete and total control.” From there, they dig into what it means when the U.S. starts treating allies like enemies, using tariffs like a cudgel, and drifting toward a real crisis over Greenland. They talk intelligence sharing, Five Eyes, why allies would start going dark, and how all of it connects back to the domestic crackdown, Minnesota, and the surveillance state getting upgraded right in front of everyone.
In this episode of the China Desk Podcast, Luke de Pulford of the Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China (IPAC) joins host Steve Yates to examine China's proposed “mega embassy” in London, the national security risks tied to Five Eyes intelligence cables, and how Western governments are capitulating under economic pressure from Beijing. The conversation explores parliamentary resistance, grassroots opposition, CCP coercion tactics, and why Taiwan, supply chains, and global deterrence now define the century's central geopolitical struggle. Speaking in detail to two trusted Canadians, Wayne Peters and Matthew Pauly, who are well versed in the globalist treachery of City of London banker Mark Carney.Carney is the currently installed ‘WEF leader' of Canada who is currently selling out his fellow countrymen and women to the UN Agenda 2030 version of Marxist-Communist-capitalist control.Unless Canadians wake up to this treason and quickly, their own country will be lost to them and to their children's children.Canada's Carnage serves as a dire warning to other Western nations and especially to fellow Five Eyes countries Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.Links:Cloward–Piven Strategy | Liz Gunn Reads: https://rumble.com/v6t5mf9-clowardpiven-strategy-liz-gunn-reads.htmlWhat's Up Canada Links:Website: https://whatsupcanada.orgSubstack: https://whatsupcanada.substack.comRumble: https://rumble.com/c/whatsupcanadaX (Twitter): https://x.com/WhatsUpCanadianMatthew Pauly on X: https://x.com/MatthewPauly13To support FreeNZ:Substack: https://freenz.substack.com/Locals: https://freenz.locals.comBuy Me A Coffee: https://buymeacoffee.com/supportfreenzPaypal: https://www.paypal.com/ncp/payment/ALL53RLNSBRFWAffiliates:Dioxi Care - Chlorine Dioxide based Oral Care, Skin Care & Veterinary & Wound Care: https://frontierpharm.com/?sca_ref=9717384.brQladA5pgSnoot Spray - Chlorine Dioxide based Nasal Cleaner: https://www.snootspray.com/?sca_ref=9667634.AV2NJQvGlTWide Awake Media - Freedom T-Shirts: https://wideawake.clothing/en-nz?sca_ref=9458851.1aXfjvGDqLGoodbye Road - Book By Michael Gray Griffith: https://cafelockedout.com/clo-shop/?aff=lizgunn

In this episode of the China Global South Podcast, Eric Olander and Cobus van Staden unpack a major question facing middle powers everywhere: What happens when the global security architecture you relied on for decades no longer exists? Fresh from meetings at Australian National University and the Australasian Aid Conference, Eric shares conversations with scholars, diplomats, and policymakers in Canberra who are wrestling with a new geopolitical reality. Topics include: Eric and Cobus also break down China's push to promote its Global Security Initiative at the African Union headquarters in Addis Ababa, the limitations of the UN system, and why both Western and Chinese security narratives fail to address Africa's real on-the-ground security challenges.
A geopolitical expert says it's a good thing a New Zealand navy ship was on its own in waters around East Asia - when it was shadowed by seven Chinese warships. The vessel was patrolling last month as part of international efforts to monitor and restrict North Korea's nuclear and missile activity. The Defence Force says the Chinese ships followed at a safe, professional distance. Geoffrey Miller told Ryan Bridge we'll have to wait and see if there are further repercussions. He says China's usually more offended by joint actions with other Five Eyes countries - so it's probably better our Defence Force was alone. Strategic Independence After China — Gregory Copley — Copley traces Australia's historical American security dependency to the 1941 Singapore surrender and subsequent reliance on U.S. military protection against regional threats. Copley notes that Canada possesses potential opportunity to fundamentally rethink military procurement and strategic positioning amid escalating political rifts with the Trump administration. Copley observes that both Commonwealthnations are gradually recognizing the diminishing salience of China as a peer threat and consequently reconsidering the necessity of independent strategic capabilities alongside their continuing participation in the "Five Eyes" intelligence alliance. 1944 BURMA
Ex-FBI sniper Christopher Whitcomb survived warlords, black ops, and helicopter crashes. He's here to explain how calculating risk kept him alive. [Pt. 2/2]Full show notes and resources can be found here: jordanharbinger.com/1243What We Discuss with Christopher Whitcomb:Guantanamo Bay exposed the systematic breakdown between official policy and reality. Christopher Whitcomb witnessed 13-year-olds detained 12,000 miles from home while interrogators chanted "Fair, firm and impartial" over prisoners' screams. The same general later oversaw Abu Ghraib's abuses.East Timor combined apocalyptic violence with staggering natural wealth. Indonesia massacred up to 300,000 people during the island's secession, yet oil bubbled from the ground and natural gas ignited hillsides, creating a Wild West economy that attracted contractors seeking manageable chaos.Intelligence work often pays in ways that complicate normal life. Christopher earned contracting money through intelligence agencies that was "hard to spend sometimes," revealing the strange economics of covert operations.Elite operators face profound psychological costs. Christopher's friend warned him to "stop trying to get 14-year-old guys to kill you because you have some death fantasy," highlighting how repeated high-stakes missions create patterns of self-destructive behavior that operators must eventually confront.Recognition of dysfunction is the first step toward meaningful change. By acknowledging his own "insanity" and identity crisis, Christopher demonstrates that even those in extreme professions can develop self-awareness and begin questioning the systems they served. It's been a rough week for the government: the row over the collapsed Chinese spy trial has rolled on, all while the Chancellor has been trying to lay the groundwork ahead of next month's budget. Then, overnight, another issue has emerged as fans of the Maccabi Tel Aviv football team have been banned from attending a football game against Aston Villa next month, leading to accusations of antisemitism.Tim Shipman and Michael Simmons join James Heale to discuss the day's developments. Tim reveals how the Chinese spy row has been picked up by American legislators, threatening to undermine the Five Eyes security alliance. Meanwhile Michael points out that the news that the IMF has upgraded UK growth forecasts – to the second fastest growing of the G7 – might not be all it seems.Produced by Patrick Gibbons.Become a Spectator subscriber today to access this podcast without adverts. PEBCAK Podcast: Information Security News by Some All Around Good People
Welcome to this week's episode of the PEBCAK Podcast! We've got four amazing stories this week so sit back, relax, and keep being awesome! Be sure to stick around for our Dad Joke of the Week. (DJOW) Follow us on Instagram @pebcakpodcast Please share this podcast with someone you know! It helps us grow the podcast and we really appreciate it! 2016: The Dawn of Modern Ransomware The debut of Petya and Russian-affiliated groups like CryptoWall, TeslaCrypt, and Locky. Attacks were largely indiscriminate, targeting anyone from Fortune 500 companies to "Grandma's laptop." Early mitigation tactics, like installing Russian language packs to avoid infection, highlighted the state-tolerated nature of these groups. 2017: Ransomware Goes Mainstream A pivotal year with the WannaCry attack (attributed to North Korea's Lazarus Group) and NotPetya (Russian-backed), causing billions in damages to companies in multiple verticals. The SAMSAM attacks hit U.S. cities like Baltimore and Atlanta, marking Iran's brief foray into ransomware. Ransomware became a household name, sparking executive-level discussions in boardrooms. 2020: The Rise of Ransomware-as-a-Service Groups like Ryuk, REvil, and Conti refined ransomware into a business model, outsourcing tasks like initial access and money laundering. Double extortion emerged, with attackers stealing data and threatening to leak it, even if backups were restored. Some groups introduced “terms of service,” avoiding hospitals and schools to dodge law enforcement scrutiny. 2021: Critical Infrastructure in the Crosshairs High-profile attacks on Colonial Pipeline, JBS Foods, and Ireland's National Health Service disrupted daily life, from gas shortages to meat supply issues. These incidents underscored ransomware's real-world impact, elevating cybersecurity to a boardroom priority. 2022: Geopolitical Shifts and New Players Russian-backed groups like Conti and LockBit shifted focus to Ukraine amid the Russia-Ukraine conflict. The rise of Scattered Spider, a Western-based group excelling at social engineering and SIM swapping, marked a shift from Eastern state-tolerated actors. 2023: Trust Breaks Down The ALFV/BlackCat group's $22 million rug pull against affiliates signaled the decline of Russian-backed ransomware dominance. Scattered Spider solidified its reputation, targeting major hospitality and cleaning companies with sophisticated social engineering tactics. 2025: The Western Cybercrime Surge Scattered Spider and affiliates like DragonForce dominate, hitting retailers, insurance, aviation, and automotive sectors. The shift to Western-based actors, often young and operating in Five Eyes nations, makes them more vulnerable to law enforcement. Trends and Takeaways The move from expensive zero-day exploits to cheaper n-day exploits and social engineering highlights attackers' adaptability. Double extortion and even “double dipping” (demanding additional ransoms months later) have become standard tactics. The accessibility of AI tools and open-source platforms like Venice AI has lowered the barrier for creating ransomware, even for non-programmers. Law enforcement's increasing success in arrests and Bitcoin recovery (e.g., DarkSide's downfall) offers hope for curbing cybercrime. In this Monday Headline Brief of The Wright Report, we cover violent new attacks on ICE agents in Chicago and Portland, Trump's plan to federalize National Guard units, the shutdown of apps used to track ICE officers, a cash offer to illegal immigrants, a shocking Virginia political scandal, and global updates from Greenland to Ukraine, the UK, Gaza, and Africa. Quick hits to launch your week with the facts shaping America and the world. Violent Weekend on the Immigration Front: Radical activists in Chicago used phone apps to track ICE agents, boxed them in with ten cars, and rammed a federal vehicle. When the lead agitator, Marimar Martínez, brandished a gun, ICE agents fired back, lightly injuring her. Chicago police refused to assist, with supervisors citing sanctuary city laws. Trump responded by federalizing 300 Illinois National Guardsmen, saying, “If the governor won't protect federal officers, I will.” Portland Judge Blocks Federal Guard Deployment: After months of violence and arson targeting federal buildings, Oregon's Judge Karin Immergut refused to let Trump deploy 200 Oregon Guardsmen. The White House will instead send California troops. City council member Angelita Morillo, an admitted Marxist, has been helping activists buy burner phones to coordinate attacks. Apple and Google Drop Anti-ICE Apps: Following a Trump DOJ order, Apple and Google removed apps used to crowdsource ICE agent locations. Developers and activists called the move authoritarian, but DHS pointed to the weekend's attempted murder of ICE officers as proof the apps “facilitate organized violence, not free speech.” Trump Expands “Pay to Leave” Immigration Program: Migrants aged 14 to 17 who entered illegally will now be offered $2,500 and a plane ticket home. Critics say the policy “coerces” children, but Trump argues it's cheaper and safer than detaining or deporting them. Reuters reports Guatemalan parents still refuse to take their kids back, preferring they keep working in the U.S. Virginia Democrat Calls for Murder of GOP Speaker and Children: Attorney General candidate Jay Jones faces backlash for texting that Republican House Speaker Todd Gilbert and his two young children “should be shot.” Fellow Democrat Abigail Spanberger defended him, saying, “Let those without sin cast the first stone.” Bryan warns, “The Left is openly dehumanizing children now — what happens when words become policy?” Greenland's Rare Earth Deal with the U.S.: The Trump administration is negotiating an investment partnership with Greenland's Critical Metals Corp to secure rare earth minerals and limit Chinese control. Bryan calls it “the front line of America's Mineral Wars.” China Feeding Intel to Russia in Ukraine: Beijing is providing targeting data that includes U.S.-owned facilities, dragging out the conflict to drain American stockpiles. UK Scandal Over Chinese Spies: British PM Keir Starmer quashed espionage charges against two Chinese-linked researchers by refusing to label China an “enemy.” Bryan warns it's time to “pull the plug on Five Eyes intel sharing” until the UK gets serious about national security. Trump's Gaza Peace Plan and Netanyahu's Pressure: Envoy Steve Witcoff and Jared Kushner head to Cairo to finalize a deal requiring Hamas to disarm or face “complete obliteration.” Netanyahu faces backlash from his coalition, which could collapse if Hamas keeps any political power. Nigeria's Christian Genocide Expands: Islamist militants from Boko Haram and ISIS killed hundreds in northern Nigeria, driving thousands into Cameroon. Bryan warns Biden's CIA may be indirectly aiding jihadists to attack Russian and Chinese targets. Medical News — Parkinson's and Back Pain Relief: South Korean researchers linked tooth bacteria to Parkinson's risk, while a German cannabis extract eased chronic back pain. Bryan reminds listeners, “Keep brushing and walking — the mind and body are more connected than we realize.” "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." - John 8:32 Keywords: Chicago ICE attack Marimar Martínez, Trump federalizes Illinois National Guard, Chicago police sanctuary policy, Portland Judge Karin Immergut National Guard, Angelita Morillo Marxist burner phones, Apple Google anti-ICE apps removed, Trump migrant cash offer $2,500, Jay Jones Virginia AG murder text, Abigail Spanberger rage fuel comments, Greenland rare earth minerals Critical Metals Corp, China intel to Russia Ukraine war, Keir Starmer Chinese spies case UK, Trump Gaza peace plan Hamas disarmament, Nigeria Christian genocide Boko Haram ISIS, Parkinson's oral bacteria South Korea, German cannabis chronic back pain

The Prime Minister says the government won't be rushed into revealing its decision on recognising Palestinian statehood. The Foreign Affairs minister Winston Peters is in New York and is expected to announce New Zealand's position later this week, at the United Nations General Assembly. In the meantime, some of New Zealand's closest partners have announced they will recognise Palestine - including three of its Five Eyes partners. Giles Dexter reports.
Australia's joined the UK, Canada and others in recognising Palestinian statehood. Anthony Albanese says unified recognition is important - and three of the Five Eyes nations have now declared their stance. Australian correspondent Oliver Peterson says Albanese has confirmed this recognition comes with conditions - including that Hamas will not govern Gaza again and that Palestine will recognise Israel's right to peace and security. New Zealand's yet to finalise its position on recognising Palestine, despite recent moves by our key allies. Chris Luxon says Cabinet's expected to make a final decision later this week. Three of the Five Eyes members - Australia, the UK and Canada - have formally announced recognition of an independent state of Palestine. Newstalk ZB reporter Azaria Howell says it's expected the coalition will come together to make a statement, and Winston Peters will likely deliver it by Sunday. In this week's episode, Chris and Matt take another look at the political assault on the US intelligence community and its strain on Five Eyes, pushing partners to question sharing or holding information back, even as the core bonds endure for now. Chris then previews “Spy-Q,” a tradecraft-for-civilians training event that turns elicitation, deception detection, influence, behavioral profiling, resilience, and memory techniques into practical tools you can actually use. Finally, they unpack Israel's audacious, long-range strike on Hamas leaders in Qatar, the immediate blowback, and how Israeli intelligence refused to participate. Ronan Wordsworth addresses a persistent recruitment and retention crisis in Five Eyes militaries, spanning decades. Younger generations, particularly Gen Z, favor STEM careers offering flexibility and better pay over military discipline. Militaries are responding with increased advertising, flexible service models, lateral entry for skilled professionals, and significant pay raises and bonuses. Low morale, stemming from unpopular past wars and perceived institutional guilt, also significantly impacts retention rates. 1870 GARDE NATIONAL
CBS EYE ON THE WORLD WITH JOHN BATCHELOR SHOW SCHEDULE 9-11-25 GOOD EVENING: The show begins in Brussels at the Article Four meeting called by Poland. 1942 FIRST HOUR 9-915 McCausland: Jeff McCausland analyzes Russia's drone probes into Poland, viewing them as Vladimir Putin's attempt to intimidate NATO and gather military intelligence. He notes Dmitry Medvedev's aggressive rhetoric against Finland. McCausland also discusses Israel's strike against Hamas in Doha, impacting US-Qatar relations, and US military posturing near Venezuela to intimidate Nicolás Maduro. He warns against "gunboat diplomacy" and a "war on cartels," stressing the dangers of escalation and historical lessons. 915-930 CONTINUED McCausland: Jeff McCausland analyzes Russia's drone probes into Poland, viewing them as Vladimir Putin's attempt to intimidate NATO and gather military intelligence. 930-945 Mary O'Grady analyzes Argentine President Javier Milei's significant election loss in Buenos Aires, attributed to a corruption scandal involving his sister and the slowing economy. His brash style, while initially appealing and celebrated internationally, now alienates potential congressional allies and conservative voters. O'Grady suggests this approach is ill-suited for governing, hindering his economic reforms, as he struggles with high inflation and cuts to public subsidies, impacting public perception.945-1000 Chris Riegel, CEO of scholar.com, counters AI doomsayers like Geoff Hinton, emphasizing AI's transformational potential as a tool. He highlights the mmense investment, hundreds of billions, in building gigawatt-plus data centers across the United States. This infrastructure drive is creating new industries and jobs, establishing the US as a global leader in AI, while also noting Asia's keen interest in US AI technology and Europe's lack of a cohesive strategy. SECOND HOUR 10-1015 Jonathan Conricus observes Qatar's unprecedented move to engage beyond conventional tools, which Israel is closely monitoring. He suggests Israel's recent strike could signify a new deterrence doctrine, making Hamas leaders in Doha more vulnerable. This pressure might compel Hamas to accept Israel's terms for ending the conflict, which include releasing hostages and surrendering, thereby preventing further destruction and suffering in Gaza, despite the significant costs involved for Israel.1015-1030 CONTINUED Jonathan Conricus observes Qatar's unprecedented move to engage beyond conventional tools, which Israel is closely monitoring. He suggests Israel's recent strike could signify a new deterrence doctrine, making Hamas leaders in Doha more vulnerable. This pressure might compel Hamas to accept Israel's terms for ending the conflict, which include releasing hostages and surrendering, thereby preventing further destruction and suffering in Gaza, despite the significant costs involved for Israel.1030-1045 Ben Baird reveals US government agencies, under both Obama and Biden administrations, continuously funded extremist Muslim groups. Despite warnings and previous Trump administration cuts, over $25 million in grants went to organizations with alleged ties to terrorism, antisemitism, the Muslim Brotherhood, and Hamas. This included partnering with groups like CAIR, which also provided firearms training to radical mosques, raising serious questions about oversight and vetting standards for federal funds.1045-1100 Jonathan Speyer reports on Houthi attacks on Red Sea shipping and Israel, sustained by Iranian, Iraqi, Hezbollah, and even Chinese support. He describes the Houthis as fanatical, religiously and tribally motivated, aiming for "death to America, death to Israel, and curse the Jews." While cutting their supply chain and taking Hodeidah port is militarily feasible for a Western-backed force, a lack of political will currently prevents such aggressive action against their sophisticated smuggling operations. THIRD HOUR 1100-1115 Anatol Lieven explains that Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus is a Soviet loyalist, not a Putin stooge, but was driven to Russia by Western sanctions. He discusses Russian drone incursions into Poland, likely an intentional message to NATO to test air defenses and warn against deploying troops to Ukraine. Russia may also seek to maintain Belarus firmly in its orbit by disrupting its multi-vector foreign policy initiatives, particularly any attempts at détente with the West.1115-1130 CONTINUED Anatol Lieven explains that Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus is a Soviet loyalist, not a Putin stooge, but was driven to Russia by Western sanctions. While a flat tax would streamline the system and boost economic growth by focusing on consumption, de Rugy emphasizes that no tax system alone can resolve the severe US debt crisis; crucial reforms to Social Security and Medicare are indispensable.1145-1200 Ronan Wordsworth addresses a persistent recruitment and retention crisis in Five Eyes militaries, spanning decades. He also addresses the escalating Venezuelan situation, with a US Marine Air-Ground Task Force deployment and bounties on Nicolás Maduro, suggesting potential military action. This week we talk about cyberespionage, China, and asymmetrical leverage. We also discuss political firings, hardware infiltration, and Five Eyes.Recommended Book: The Fourth Turning Is Here by Neil HoweTranscriptIn the year 2000, then-General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party, Jiang Zemin (jong ZEM-in), approved a plan to develop so-called “cyber coercive capabilities”—the infrastructure for offensive hacking—partly as a consequence of aggressive actions by the US, which among other things had recently bombed the Chinese embassy in Belgrade as part of the NATO campaign in Yugoslavia. The US was a nuclear power with immense military capabilities that far outshone those of China, and the idea was that the Chinese government needed some kind of asymmetrical means of achieving leverage against the US and its allies to counter that. Personal tech and the internet were still relatively young in 2000—the first iPhone wouldn't be released for another seven years, for context—but there was enough going on in the cyber-intelligence world that it seemed like a good point of leverage to aim for.The early 2000s Chairman of the CCP, Hu Jintao, backed this ambition, citing the burgeoning threat of instability-inducing online variables, like those that sparked the color revolutions across Europe and Asia, and attack strategies similar to Israel's Stuxnet cyberattack on Iran as justification, though China's growing economic dependence on its technological know-how was also part of the equation; it could evolve its capacity in this space relatively quickly, and it had valuable stuff that was targetable by foreign cyberattacks, so it was probably a good idea to increase their defenses, while also increasing their ability to hit foreign targets in this way—that was the logic here. The next CCP Chairman, Xi Jinping, doubled-down on this effort, saying that in the cyber world, everyone else was using air strikes and China was still using swords and spears, so they needed to up their game substantially and rapidly. That ambition seems to have been realized: though China is still reportedly regularly infiltrated by foreign entities like the US's CIA, China's cybersecurity firms and state-affiliated hacker groups have become serious players on the international stage, pulling off incredibly complex hacks of foreign governments and infrastructure, including a campaign called Volt Typhoon, which seems to have started sometime in or before 2021, but which wasn't discovered by US entities until 2024. This campaign saw Chinese hackers infiltrating all sorts of US agencies and infrastructure, initially using malware, and then entwining themselves with the operating systems used by their targets, quietly syphoning off data, credentials, and other useful bits of information, slowly but surely becoming even more interwoven with the fabric of these systems, and doing so stealthily in order to remain undetected for years. This effort allowed hackers to glean information about the US's defenses in the continental US and in Guam, while also helping them breach public infrastructure, like Singapore's telecommunications company, Singtel. It's been suggested that, as with many Chinese cyberattacks, this incursion was a long-game play, meant to give the Chinese government the option of both using private data about private US citizens, soldiers, and people in government for manipulation or blackmail purposes, or to shut down important infrastructure, like communications channels or electrical grids, in the event of a future military conflict. What I'd like to talk about today is another, even bigger and reportedly more successful long-term hack by the Chinese government, and one that might be even more disruptive, should there ever be a military conflict between China and one of the impacted governments, or their allies.—Salt Typhoon is the name that's been given to a so-called '“advanced persistent threat actor,” which is a formal way of saying hacker or hacker group, by Microsoft, which plays a big role in the cybersecurity world, especially at this scale, a scale involving not just independent hackers, but government-level cyberespionage groups. This group is generally understood to be run out of the Chinese Ministry of State Security, or MSS, and though it's not usually possible to say something like that for certain, hence the “generally understood” component of that statement, often everyone kind of knows who's doing what, but it's imprudent to say so with 100% certainty, as cyberespionage, like many other sorts of spy stuff, is meant to be a gray area where governments can knock each other around without leading to a shooting war. If anyone were to say with absolute certainty, yes, China is hacking us, and it's definitely the government, and they're doing a really good job of it, stealing all our stuff and putting us at risk, that would either require the targeted government to launch some sort of counterstrike against China, or would leave that targeted government looking weak, and thus prone to more such incursions and attacks, alongside any loss of face they might suffer. So there's a lot of hand-waving and alluding in this sphere of diplomacy and security, but it's basically understood that Salt Typhoon is run by China, and it's thought that they've been operating since at least 2020.Their prime function seems to be stealing as much classified data as they can from governments around the world, and scooping up all sorts of intellectual property from corporations, too.China's notorious for collecting this kind of IP and then giving it to Chinese companies, which have become really good at using such IP, copying it, making it cheaper, and sometimes improving upon it in other ways, as well. This government-corporation collaboration model is fundamental to the operation of China's economy, and the dynamic between its government, it's military, its intelligence services, and its companies, all of which work together in various ways. It's estimated that Salt Typhoon has infiltrated more than 200 targets in more than 80 countries, and alongside corporate entities like AT&T and Verizon, they also managed to scoop up private text messages from Kamala Harris' and Donald Trump's presidential campaigns in 2024, using hacks against phone services to do so.Three main Chinese tech companies allegedly helped Salt Typhoon infiltrate foreign telecommunications companies and internet service providers, alongside hotel, transportation, and other sorts of entities, which allowed them to not just grab text messages, but also track people, keeping tabs on their movements, which again, might be helpful in future blackmail or even assassination operations. Those three companies seem to be real-deal, actual companies, not just fronts for Chinese intelligence, but the government was able to use them, and the services and products they provide, to sneak malicious code into all kinds of vital infrastructure and all sorts of foreign corporations and agencies—which seems to support concerns from several years ago about dealing with Chinese tech companies like Huawei; some governments decided not to work with them, especially in building-out their 5G communications infrastructure, due to the possibility that the Chinese government might use these ostensibly private companies as a means of getting espionage software or devices into these communications channels or energy grids. The low prices Huawei offered just wasn't worth the risk. The US government announced back in 2024 that Salt Typhoon had infiltrated a bunch of US telecommunications companies and broadband networks, and that routers manufactured by Cisco were also compromised by this group. The group was also able to get into ISP services that US law enforcement and intelligence services use to conduct court-authorized wiretaps; so they weren't just spying on individuals, they were also spying on other government's spies and those they were spying on.Despite all these pretty alarming findings, in the midst of the investigation into these hacks, the second US Trump administration fired the government's Cyber Safety Review Board, which was thus unable to complete its investigation into Salt Typhoon's intrusion. The FBI has since issued a large bounty for information about those involved in Salt Typhoon, but that only addresses the issue indirectly, and there's still a lot we don't know about this group, the extent of their hacking, and where else they might still be embedded, in part because the administration fired those looking into it, reportedly because the administration didn't like this group also looking into Moscow's alleged interference in the 2016 presidential election, and Salt Typhoon's potential interference with the 2024 presidential election, both of which Trump won.The US government has denied these firings are in any way political, saying they intend to focus on cyber offense rather than defense, and pointing out that the current approach to investigating these sorts of things was imperfect; which is something that most outside organizations would agree on.That said, there are concerns that these firings, and other actions against the US's cyberthreat defensive capabilities, are revenge moves against people and groups that have said the 2020 presidential election, which Trump lost to Joe Biden, was the most secure and best-run election in US history; which flies in the face of Trump's preferred narrative that he won in 2020—something he's fond of repeating, though without evidence, and with a vast body of evidence against his claim. The US has also begun pulling away from long-time allies that it has previously collaborated with in the cyberespionage and cyberdefense sphere, including its Five Eyes partners, the UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.Since Tulsi Gabbard was installed as the Director of National Intelligence by Trump's new administration, US intelligence services have been instructed to withhold information about negotiations with Russia and Ukraine from these allies; something that's worrying intelligence experts, partly because this move seems to mostly favor Russia, and partly because it represents one more wall, of many, that the administration seems to be erecting between the US and these allies. Gabbard herself is also said to be incredibly pro-Russian, so while that may not be influencing this decision, it's easy to understand why many allies and analysts are concerned that her loyalties might be divided in this matter. So what we have is a situation in which political considerations and concerns, alongside divided priorities and loyalties within several governments, but the US in particular right now, might be changing the layout of, and perhaps even weakening, cybersecurity and cyberespionage services at the very moment these services might be most necessary, because a foreign government has managed to install itself in all kinds of agencies, infrastructure, and corporations. That presence could allow China to milk these entities for information and stolen intellectual property, but it could also put the Chinese government in a very favorable position, should some kind of conflict break out, including but not limited to an invasion of Taiwan; if the US's electrical grids or telecommunications services go down, or the country's military is unable to coordinate with itself, or with its allies in the Pacific, at the moment China invades, there's a non-zero chance that would impact the success of that invasion in China's favor.Again, this is a pretty shadowy playing field even at the best of times, but right now there seems to be a lot happening in the cyberespionage space, and many of the foundations that were in place until just recently, are also being shaken, shattered, or replaced, which makes this an even more tumultuous, uncertain moment, with heightened risks for everybody, though maybe the opposite for those attacking these now more-vulnerable bits of infrastructure and vital entities.Show Noteshttps://www.nbcnews.com/tech/security/china-used-three-private-companies-hack-global-telecoms-us-says-rcna227543https://media.defense.gov/2025/Aug/22/2003786665/-1/-1/0/CSA_COUNTERING_CHINA_STATE_ACTORS_COMPROMISE_OF_NETWORKS.PDFhttps://www.nytimes.com/2025/04/05/us/politics/trump-loomer-haugh-cyberattacks-elections.htmlhttps://www.france24.com/en/americas/20250826-has-the-us-shut-its-five-eyes-allies-out-of-intelligence-on-ukraine-russia-peace-talkshttps://www.axios.com/2025/09/04/china-salt-typhoon-fbi-advisory-us-datahttps://www.wsj.com/politics/national-security/chinese-spies-hit-more-than-80-countries-in-salt-typhoon-breach-fbi-reveals-59b2108fhttp://axios.com/2025/08/02/china-usa-cyberattacks-microsoft-sharepointhttps://www.axios.com/2024/12/03/salt-typhoon-china-phone-hackshttps://www.nytimes.com/2025/09/04/world/asia/china-hack-salt-typhoon.htmlhttps://www.euronews.com/2025/09/04/trump-and-jd-vance-among-targets-of-major-chinese-cyberattack-investigators-sayhttps://www.congress.gov/crs-product/IF12798https://www.fcc.gov/document/implications-salt-typhoon-attack-and-fcc-responsehttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salt_Typhoonhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2024_global_telecommunications_hackhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_interference_in_the_2024_United_States_electionshttps://www.theregister.com/2025/08/28/how_does_china_keep_stealing/https://www.nsa.gov/Press-Room/Press-Releases-Statements/Press-Release-View/Article/4287371/nsa-and-others-provide-guidance-to-counter-china-state-sponsored-actors-targeti/https://chooser.crossref.org/?doi=10.2307%2Fjj.16040335https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyberwarfare_and_Chinahttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volt_Typhoon This is a public episode. Matt Ehret and Ghost team up for a sprawling dive into geopolitics, history, and hidden power structures. They open with Ghost's travel nightmare and use it as a springboard to expose how decades of neglect and privatization crippled regional airports, linking the failures back to post-9/11 policies and financial corruption. From there, the discussion widens into the theft of PROMIS software, Israel's role as the “sixth eye” in Five Eyes intelligence, and the deep entanglement of organized crime syndicates like the Bronfmans with intelligence agencies. The hosts explore the rise of the Pilgrim Society, the Federal Reserve's creation, and how monopolists like J.P. Morgan used U.S. Steel to reshape American industry. Tying it all to the present, they analyze Trump's “golden share” in U.S. Steel, Nippon Steel's losses, and how sovereign nations are reclaiming control from transnational cartels. With detours into Italy's populist Matteo Salvini, Soros crackdowns, and Brad Zerbo's Codex 9/11, this episode blends history and current events into a sharp critique of state capture and the global struggle for sovereignty.

“Washington has been quiet and diplomatic about their growing concerns,” says Sam Cooper, investigative journalist and publisher of TheBureau.news. He tells Daniela Cambone that U.S. officials like Peter Navarro calling for Canada's removal from Five Eyes highlights a long-standing vulnerability to CCP infiltration.Over the past decade, Cooper explains, Canada has become a weak point in North American security—“used as a hub for operations that affect U.S. domestic safety.”“We're in for a world of hurt in Canada if we don't take the fentanyl and Chinese Communist Party threat seriously.” Watch the full interview to learn what's at stake for Canada moving forward.
