Era dimenticato ormai l'entusiasmo dei primi tempi, quando la presenza di un nuovo scolaro significava per lui quasi l'inizio di un'avventura, e il vertiginoso giro dei visi, dei nomi e delle voci lo teneva avvolto in un favoloso mistero, come succede al mago fra le lettere dell'enigma. Era stato in giovinezza uno spirito impetuoso e curioso, disinteressato e ricco di passioni. Ma ora, calmo e metodico, attento alla sua salute e geloso della propria quiete mentale, rinnegava quei tempi. Aveva imparato a considerare la scolaresca null'altro che una macchina nella quale, con lodevole zelo del resto e con criteri accurati, giorno per giorno introduceva il sapere. La sua figura grassotta e rosea, la sua barbetta, i ricci appena grigi, e quella leggera prominenza del ventre sotto la giacca bene abbottonata emanavano nell'insieme un'aria assennata e dignitosa che gli attirava il rispetto universale. La sua giornata consisteva dunque nelle lezioni di cui, si può dire, aveva imparato a memoria fino i toni della propria voce che esponeva sempre le stesse regole con le stesse parole; nei pasti cucinati dalla vecchia cuoca e assaporati ad ora fissa con piacere sempre crescente; in poche bonarie conversazioni coi colleghi al caffè; e nei sonni tranquilli e ininterrotti nel suo letto di celibe. So much is stored inside of us. Our past traumas be them Big T trauma of war or sexual assault or little t trauma of what someone said or an experience with others impact us greatly. Sometimes traditional talk therapy is not the answer.  Today Allison Scolaro sits down with me to talk all things art therapy .  We talk exposure therapy, PTSD and also a little dance therapy with my ballroom dance experience. Her true passion is in trauma and how to heal the score that the body keeps.
