Imagine the tropical grooves of Colombia and Mexico in an avant-garde setting. That's the ethos of Ruido Tovar; the new collaborative project between Eblis Alvarez of Meridian Brothers and Camilo Lara of the Mexican Institute of Sound.  Before releasing their debut self-titled record together, both Alvarez and Lara were known to experiment with electronics, fusing modern sounds with music styles that are typically considered traditional. Alvarez put a spin on cumbia and salsa with his band Meridian Brothers, while Lara pushed the electronica movement in Mexico forward with his project, the Mexican Institute of Sound.  Coming together as Ruido Tovar, the duo joins the Soundcheck host, John Schaefer, with their pocket-sized effects pedals and compact synthesizers to perform some new songs from their new record and discuss their journey in music thus far.  (- Sırma Munyar) Setlist: 1. En medio del auge de la cooperación regional contra el crimen organizado, Costa Rica insiste en que la seguridad no pasa por militarizar su territorio. Durante la reunión ministerial de la OCDE en París, el canciller Manuel Tovar descartó de forma categórica cualquier presencia de tropas estadounidenses en el país, pese a la participación costarricense en iniciativas regionales de seguridad. Tovar defendió además uno de los rasgos más singulares de Costa Rica en América Latina: su condición de país sin ejército desde 1948. ¿Cómo enfrenta el país los desafíos de seguridad en una región marcada por el crimen organizado y el narcotráfico? Lo conversamos con el canciller costarricense en esta entrevista para France 24 y RFI.

El nuevo canciller costarricense, Manuel Tovar, viajó hasta París para participar este miércoles en la reunión ministerial de la OCDE que ha publicado perspectivas económicas alentadoras para Costa Rica, con un crecimiento del 3,5% pese a la coyuntura geopolítica mundial. Manuel Tovar también se refirió a la lucha contra el narcotráfico y a la adhesión a la alianza "Escudo de las Américas" de Donald Trump. Al preguntarle si esta adhesión implica presencia de soldados estadounidenses en territorio costarricense, el ministro fue tajante: "Negativo".  Este año se cumple el quinto aniversario de la entrada de Costa Rica en la OCDE (Organización para la Cooperación y el Desarrollo Económicos) con sede en París. Manuel Tovar, que fue representante de Costa Rica ante este organismo, celebra que, pese a la revisión a la baja del crecimiento global por parte de la OCDE del 2'9% al 2'1%, Costa Rica mantenga casi intactas sus perspectivas y siga “liderando las economías OCDE” con unas previsiones para este año del 3,5% del PIB.   Atribuye esta resiliencia a “una política económica consistente” de apertura comercial, atracción de inversión y mejora del clima de negocios, y resume la prioridad económica en “seguir haciendo lo que estamos haciendo, pero hacerlo mejor”, con énfasis en “el desarrollo de capital humano”, porque las empresas llegan por “el capital humano costarricense”. El litigio comercial con Panamá: “Pérdidas millonarias” para el campo Sobre el conflicto con Panamá, califica el cierre del mercado a productos del campo como un proceso que ha causado “mucho dolor a la familia costarricense del sector productivo” y “pérdidas millonarias”, sin “ninguna razón lógica”. Aunque Costa Rica obtuvo un fallo favorable en la OMC, la apelación está bloqueada y el país sigue “en un proceso de diálogo con las autoridades panameñas” para resolver un litigio que “no debería ocurrir entre países y socios hermanos”. El presunto plan de atentado provendría de un grupo “descontento con la política de mano dura” En el ámbito nacional, ante el presunto plan para atentar contra la presidenta, el canciller señala que “lo poco que se sabe” es que provendría de un grupo recluido en la cárcel y “descontento con las medidas de mano fuerte contra el crimen organizado”. El titular de Exteriores escribe la situación como “lamentable, triste y preocupante”, pero espera que sea “un tema aislado, controlado” y “más que una acción ya preparada para ejecutar, una manifestación de descontento”. Respecto al narcotráfico, subraya que Costa Rica “no es un país productor, simplemente es un país que está en el camino” entre el sur y los mercados finales. Plantea que “esto solo se atiende con una cooperación, con un ejercicio colectivo” y que “si no hay demanda, no hay oferta”, por lo que los mercados consumidores “tienen que colaborar conjuntamente”, refiriéndose a Europa y a Estados Unidos. Afirma que el país está “cercándolos” y que “cada vez llega menos droga”, con escáneres en “puertos, aeropuertos, pasos terrestres” para “hacerles la vida más difícil” a las redes criminales. Una nueva cárcel para los narcotraficantes: “un modelo costarricense” Sobre la nueva cárcel, rechaza que copien el modelo Bukele: “No, no estamos construyendo una nueva prisión [para deportados de Estados Unidos]”, sino “una nueva prisión de alta contención” para aislar a los criminales más peligrosos y “limitar el radio de acción para que dejen de delinquir”. Tovar insiste en que es “un modelo costarricense” que toma “buenas prácticas” de otros países, pero “adecuándolo a la realidad costarricense”. El “Escudo de las Américas” de Trump no implica la presencia de soldados Reitera que Costa Rica “es un país sin ejército” y que, aunque participa en iniciativas como el “Escudo de las Américas”, “no permitimos la presencia de militares armados en nuestro territorio”. Preguntado por si esa cooperación implicaría la presencia de soldados estadounidenses en territorio costarricense, su respuesta es tajante: "negativo".  Cualquier funcionario o militar extranjero debe entrar “desarmado” y con aprobación de la Asamblea Legislativa, explica el canciller.  La inseguridad de los exiliados nicaragüenses Sobre los exiliados nicaragüenses, indica que son “aproximadamente 800.000” en un país de 5,3 millones y que “la enorme mayoría” llega buscando “refugio, libertad de expresión” y mejores oportunidades. El canciller reconoce, sin embargo, que Costa Rica tiene “recursos limitados en materia de seguridad” y que algunos se sentirán “más cómodos yendo a vivir a otros países”. Solo show today — breaking down every series from the weekend, west to east, AL then NL, and I had to sit here and recap one of the ugliest innings in A's history while also telling you my little league A's got wrecked by the parents in the end-of-season game. It was a full weekend. The real A's gave up 13 runs in the third inning Sunday. Yankees sent 18 batters up, batted through the order twice, Ben Rice hit a double AND a triple in the same inning, and my guys threw three pitchers at it and still couldn't stop the bleeding. They came back with eight runs and still lost by five. Severino got lit up Friday and is now headed to the IL with a right shoulder strain. The defense is a mess without Jacob Wilson. JT Ginn was filthy on Saturday and the offense actually showed up — Langeliers, Kurtz, and Soderstrom all going deep — but it didn't last. A's drop to 28-31 and the pitching staff is a dumpster fire right now. Tigers got walked off by Miguel Vargas in the tenth on Friday after Troy Melton threw seven innings of one-run ball. Seven innings. One run. Didn't matter. Saturday the White Sox put three homers on them — on Quero's bobblehead day, of course — and Sunday Colson Montgomery ties it in the seventh and Tristan Peters drives in the winner. White Sox sweep. Tigers are 6-21 in May. It is not good. The Rockies had one of the best nights of the year on Friday. Giants up 6-3 in the ninth, Goodman hits a 414-foot three-run shot to tie it, and then Tovar walks it off with his SECOND homer of the game. Saturday, Feltner comes back from injury and throws six shutout innings. Then the Giants show up Sunday and drop 19 on them. That's Coors. That's always Coors. Still take the series two to one. Podľa prezidenta Zväzu logistiky a zasielateľstva Slovenskej republiky a predsedu sekcie námorných prepráv Stanislava Michaličku má situácia okamžitý dopad na celý systém námornej prepravy. „Hormuzský prieliv je jediná vstupná brána do Perzského zálivu. Keď Irán avizoval, že nepovolí prepravu cez tento úsek, lode ostali stáť na oboch stranách. V tomto momente tam nemáme prakticky žiadny pohyb,“ vysvetľuje v rozhovore. Bežne pritom týmto strategickým miestom prejde približne 140 kontajnerových lodí denne. Prepravné spoločnosti reagovali okamžite a klientom ponúkajú tri základné scenáre riešenia.
