Many people feel caught in worry, fear, and constant striving—chasing achievements yet never feeling truly fulfilled. The restless “monkey mind” jumps from one thing to the next, amplifying stress and turning setbacks into heavy burdens. It doesn't have to be that way, though. You can move from mindless tasks to a mindful purpose. The shift begins by setting a clear, heartfelt intention rooted in something bigger. When the focus moves from self-gain to contribution, the right people, resources, and opportunities often begin to flow toward you. In this episode, Reverend Michael Beckwith, Lynne Twist, Jay Shetty, and I talk about how shifting from fear and self-focus to living with intention, surrender, daily spiritual practices, and a purpose larger than oneself can transform challenges into growth, bring deeper fulfillment, and open unexpected opportunities. For over 30 years now, Reverend Michael Beckwith has embraced a practical approach to spirituality and has helped people see the benefits of meditation, affirmative prayer, and life visioning, a process he originated. He has spoken at the United Nations, hosted conferences featuring some of the top thinkers and leaders in a variety of industries, and he is also the founder of the Global Association for New Thought. He is a teacher, a speaker, and the author of several books. He has shared his insights on a number of well-known television programs, such as Oprah's Super Soul Sunday, Dr. Oz, Larry King Live, CNN, Tavis Smiley, and others. Lynne Twist has spent over 40 years working with more than 100,000 people in 50 countries in the realms of fundraising with integrity, conscious philanthropy, strategic visioning, and cultivating a healthy relationship with money. A renowned author and speaker, she has presented at the United Nations Beijing Women's Conference, State of the World Forum, Synthesis Dialogues with Dalai Lama, and the Governor's Conference on California Women. Recognized as a global visionary, Lynne has advised the Desmond Tutu Foundation and the Nobel Women's Initiative. She co-founded the Pachamama Alliance, a nonprofit empowering Indigenous people of the Amazon rainforest to preserve their lands and culture. From serving with Mother Teresa in Calcutta to aiding refugee camps in Ethiopia and protecting the Amazon, her on-the-ground work has given her profound insight into the social fabric of the world and the defining challenges of our time. Jay Shetty is a storyteller, podcaster, and former monk. Jay's vision is to Make Wisdom Go Viral. He is on a mission to share the timeless wisdom of the world in an accessible, relevant, and practical way. Jay has created over 400 viral videos with over 7.5 billion views, and hosts the #1 Health and Wellness podcast in the world, On Purpose. This episode is brought to you by BIOptimizers. We explored the themes of agriculture, food and waste in season 4 but did not get into too much detail about the idea of hunger, which is caused by the lack of food. For this bonus episode, we speak to Abby Leibman, who was at the forefront of conceptualizing The Hunger Museum - a virtual museum that takes a deep dive into the history of hunger and how it can be ended. Abby J. Leibman has been President & CEO of MAZON: A Jewish Response to Hunger since 2011. She has a distinguished record of community and professional leadership, including developing and managing the Child Care Law Project at Public Counsel and co-founding and directing the California Women's Law Center. Lynne's early professional life led her to a chance encounter of meeting Buckminster Fuller, which changed the trajectory of her life. In this fantastic episode, Lynne shares her understanding of this time of the Divine Feminine and how living a life of commitment has shaped her life, her vision for women, and the future of humanity. Lynne is naming the energy coming through at this time: The Sophia Century and what this means for humanity at this time of evolutionary change. We are the ancestors of an age to come, and all of us that are here at this time have an extraordinary opportunity to make an impact- more than ever before in human history. How women can meet the dominance of the patriarchy, and how we can ignite a new age of feminine leadership. Why Men long to activate more of the feminine leadership model in their lives. How Jack Canfield, friend, and author of Chicken Soup for The Soul, encouraged Lynne to write her new book almost 20 years after the incredible success of The Soul of Money - which is still to this day is considered one of the most visionary and best-selling books. Living a committed life has inspired and informed Lynne's understanding of what makes ordinary people extraordinary. For people living at this time in history, humanity is being called forth to be the stewards and midwives of the world to come as our systems and structures fall apart - education, governance, health, education, and climate are all in crisis, and the "mess of the world" can be overwhelming. Lynne's antidote is to live what she is calling "a committed life" in service to a purpose larger than yourself. Lynn's book is designed to meet the moment of our time and engage people in stepping more fully into our own lives and to reveal our unique gift that is only ours to give. Why the universe loves commitment, and why the universe loves when we endeavor to do something larger than we feel capable of. What happens to us at a cellular level when we hear someone speak about their commitments? How meeting Buckminster Fuller and hearing his story changed the trajectory of Lynne's life and awakened her at the deepest level. How one ordinary individual can change the world. How most people think of commitment is backward. Rather than being a burden, commitment liberates us and gives us freedom and fulfillment in ways we never thought possible. Hear Lynne Talk about some of her darkest times - times she wanted to give up. Why it's so important that we stay in proximity to suffering, and don't turn away from those who are suffering. Lynne Twist is unstoppable in achieving her commitments, but she does so with humility, open-hearted grace, and ruthless enthusiasm. She is boundlessly generous—with her time, inspiration, and even her own home. She does not distinguish between those deserving of her love and attention and those who are not: all are welcome and appreciated for who they are in her land, and She reigns with love, laughter, and dance, and she loves to celebrate the good in the world. Lynne Twist is a global visionary and activist committed to creating an environmentally sustainable, spiritually fulfilling, and socially just future. She is the co-founder of the Pachamama Alliance, the founder of the Soul of Money Institute, and the author of the bestselling book The Soul of Money, Transforming Your Relationship with Money and Life, and her forthcoming book Living a Committed Life - Finding Freedom and Fulfillment in a Purpose Larger Than Yourself. From working with Mother Teresa in Calcutta to the refugee camps in Ethiopia and the threatened rainforests of the Amazon, as well as guiding the philanthropy of some of the world's wealthiest families, her on-the-ground work has brought her a deep understanding of people's relationship with money and Her breadth of knowledge and experience has led her to profound insights about the social tapestry of the world and the historical landscape of the times we are living in - even coining the phrase for this century as "The Sophia Century" - the century of wisdom. Her compelling stories, life experiences, commitment, and dedication to making a difference astound and inspire me, and her presence and impact on my life have been immeasurable. In full transparency, I've had the honor of being on her digital marketing team for the past few years and have grown immensely in close proximity to her teachings, leadership, and stand for those she serves. In addition to her best-selling, award-winning book "The Soul of Money: Transforming Your Relationship with Money and Life" (W.W. Norton, 2003), which has been translated into nine languages including Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese, French, Spanish, German, Japanese, Bulgarian and Portuguese. Lynne has contributed chapters to more than ten books, including: Women of Courage: Inspiring Stories from the Women Who Live Them, by Katherine Martin (New World Library, 1999) Nonprofit Management 101: A Complete and Practical Guide for Leaders and Professionals" by Darian Rodriguez Heyman (Jossey-Bass, 2011) Einstein's Business: Engaging Soul, Imagination, and Excellence in the Workplace" by Dawson Church, Ph.D. (Elite Books, 2007) Birth 2012 and Beyond: Humanity's Great Shift to the Age of Conscious Evolution by Barbara Marx Hubbard (Shift Books, 2012) Lynne has been an advisor to several organizations, including the Desmond Tutu Foundation, Network of Grateful Living, and The Nobel Women's Initiative — an initiative of seven living Nobel Women Peace Laureates who work together to end violence against women and girls. A sought-after speaker, Lynne travels the world giving keynote presentations and workshops for conferences, including the United Nations Beijing Women's Conference, Nobel Women's Conference on Sexual Violence, State of the World Forum Conference, Alliance for a New Humanity Conference with Deepak Chopra, Synthesis Dialogues with His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the Governor's Conference on California Women, among others. In addition, she has co-presented and shared the stage with some of today's most influential thought leaders, including: Oprah Winfrey His Holiness the Dalai Lama Riane Eisler Deepak Chopra Jane Goodall Leymah Gbowee Jack Canfield Paul Hawken Van Jones
June Cutter is running for the California State Assembly this year to be a real voice in the community in Sacramento, California. She is an accomplished attorney, small business owner, and mom. Her community involvement began at the local elementary school, where she served as president of the PTA from 2018 to 2020. She currently serves as president of the statewide California Women's Leadership Association, which helps women launch as leaders in politics, government, and within the community. The daughter of Korean immigrants, she was born and raised in southern California. Today, June joins me to hammer home the point that all issues are women's issues. We talk about how the primary season differs from state to state, and she offers her thoughts on the oil situation. We talk about why women are what's needed, and we emphasize that women are not just concerned with reproductive rights. We note the importance of voting in local elections, discuss why we need both parties, and explain why the answer to our problems isn't extremism. We talk about how we can get more women interested in running for office, as well as why women shouldn't need to masculinize themselves to do so. “Everything that impacts our world, impacts women.” - June Cutter “We are not just gonna just talk about reproductive rights. We want to talk about everything. We want a seat at the table to talk about our economy, to talk about the environment, to talk about education, to talk about foreign affairs. We are invested in it all and we deserve to have a say.” - June Cutter “I don't want to play a male candidate. I want to be a female candidate and be elected because of all of the things that comprise who I am, and my femininity is part of it.” - June Cutter This Week on Political Contessa: The oil crisis Why we need women in office Why everything comes back to women The responsibility to vote Why we need both parties Why, by and large, we have more in common than not Resources Mentioned JuneCutter.com PocketBookProject.org Jennifer Nassour on Twitter team@pocketbookproject.org Welcome to Political Contessa. Today we've got a fascinating interview to share, but just be aware that much of what we discuss is sexual in nature and not suitable for kids. That being said, we're happy to welcome Genevieve Gluck, co-founder and chief investigative journalist for Reduxx, a feminist news and opinion website. We're discussing Genevieve's findings regarding the origin of the transgender movement and how it is inextricably linked to sexual deviancy and perversion. This is made clear by how the movement came to be and the key figures who advocated for early transgender ideology. Genevieve takes us down a dark rabbit hole of historical perverts, weird fetishes, and the corruption of the medical institutions that should be speaking out against the bodily mutilation that accompanies transgenderism. Lastly, Genevieve says what she thinks everyday people can do to push back on this, and we leave you with a reminder that the Biden administration supports the transgender "agenda" 100%. **The conversation today is for a mature audience. Roar with Shari. . . All Things Justice for Women & Survivors
In this episode, I'm talking to Betsy Butler, a former California Assemblymember, who has been fighting for equity and justice throughout her career. Betsy talks about the fact that child marriage is still legal in 35 states including California!Today, with Roar as One, she takes on the fight to stop child marriage in California. Betsy, as CEO of the California Women's Law Center, has been working with California State legislators to stop child marriage in California. Most surprising and shocking, there is no minimum age to get married in California. This allows child rapists and predators to escape justice and accountability by simply marrying their child victims.Too often, we hear about "third-world" countries, selling young girls into sexual slavery through marriage to older men, for money, religion, tradition, or survival. But the truth is, the United States is just as bad for young girls and teens.Betsy has been a fighter for justice for women and girls throughout her career. Betsy reveals for the first time that she too has been a victim of sexual harassment throughout her powerful career.
Imagine being 48 and getting a diagnosis of very aggressive throat cancer. That's what happened to my guest Lisa Manyon. In this episode, she shares her cancer journey, what it taught her, and how it changed the way she viewed life and business. You will hear her story of how trusting her intuition lead her to make the best choices for herself as she's cancer-free four years later. It also changed her as facing her own mortality helped her decide what really mattered in her life.
