Watch/listen to the You, Me & Capris, our GOTY! It will be live for Patrons on December 28th everywhere else on December 31st! Reading From the Sacred Texts Our Favorite RPGs We Played In 2021! Nick Fitkin @NickRahl - Thanks to you guys I played Tales of Arise! I didn't have anything even come close to that in terms of best RPG, I'd probably say Endwalker too but these queues have stopped me from finishing it so far TPR - Hey y'all! This response may break a couple rules in that this game didn't come out in 2021, but I played it this year, and it is debatable if this game is an action brawler or an action RPG, but alas, Yakuza Kiwami 2 for me! The writing, new combat, and visuals from seeing the dragon engine in action myself for the first time was truly amazing. It probably is now my second favorite yakuza game I've played so far, just behind yakuza 0, and I've already started yakuza 3. I will be starting SMT 5 in the next few days after picking the steelbook up for nearly 50% off, maybe it makes a last minute push for me. Cheers! Hoppel - For me it's "Yakuza like a dragon", because it was played in 2021. Followed by Psychonauts 2 and Mass Effect 1 (Legendary Edition) Grrouchie Surge - Best RPGs I am playing this year: Steamworld Quest, Yakuza like a Dragon (still playing) Marcus O'neill - The best RPG I played this year was….. Chrono Trigger. After listening to your episode earlier this year I finally decided to knock this one off my list. And all the praise it gets is well-deserved. A definite classic….. As for RPGs that were released this year, I haven't played many but I really dug Echo Generation. The elevator pitch is it's Earthbound meets Stranger Things. It had a fun sci-fi/horror story, with a cool voxel art style and, at times, challenging turn-based combat. It's short too, which as a new parent with limited gaming time is much appreciated! Nick Faulhaber - Best RPG I played this year was Nier: Automata. Just got around to scratching it off the backlog list and it was incredible! Later Alligator. Puss hej!

Welcome back to Pursing Pixels. After wrapping up 2019 last week, we're ready to keep things rolling into the new year, and back to our usual episode antics. Some of us are still playing Slay the Spire, but that should come as little surprise to anyone. Apart from that, Randall & John talk a little SteamWorld Quest, another card-based RPG. Kevin & DJ pass the controller back and forth with Cluster Truck thanks to Kevin's Xbox Game Pass subscription before moving along to a truly cooperative experience with Strikey Sisters, a Breakout clone with a ton of charm & 16-bit style. DJ & John kick things off with Bleep Bloop, a super clever little puzzler that was getting everyone in on the action. There's a certain feeling that seems specific to modern Fire Emblem games, a sense of pride when you go into battle with your carefully leveled squad. You've come to know these characters intimately, watched their relationships with each other mature, and come to think of them as family. However, amongst the expansive cast of characters in Fire Emblem: Awakening, one particular character sticks out for having a great arc, and that's Donnel. A farm boy wearing a pot on his head, he starts out so weak most people might ditch him for some of the game's heartier characters. The people that stick with him though get to watch their good good farm boy grow up to be an absolute killing machine. His arc becomes the best example of the way you come to feel pride for these characters, and Fire Emblem: Three Houses, is doubling down on this feeling with its totally new structure. We discuss the new Fire Emblem game, the noir narrative game Night Call, and new deckbuilding roguelike Nowhere Prophet on this episode of Waypoint Radio.Discussed: Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Night Call, Steamworld Quest, Super Mario Maker 2, Nowhere Prophet See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Episode 48 of Gaming Couch. Getting closer and closer to episode 50. Facebook recently yelled at me saying activity on my page is low. Eh....i'll see about reviving it for episode 50 along with the Twitter account. I talk about SteamWorld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech for a bit and there is some story spoils I talk about. Spoilers start at 20:15. Jump to 24:35 at that point to skip the spoilers. NOW. TALK ABOUT GAMES. I didn't watch E3, I never have watched or attended it. HOWEVER, I think this year there was only one thing that really mattered. Cyberpunk 2077. Let's be real here, that game is going to do great things for the gaming community and culture as a whole. I believe it will be landmark for gaming (most likely in a good way. If it's bad though....oh boy....). So what about Cyberpunk that makes it so amazing? Yeah the future tech is really, really cool and the same could be said for Steampunk related things. However, I think what makes these two genres amazing is the narrative and characters in them. There is something about these Punk games that have some of hte greatest characters ever. And not just as a 'heroic' or 'villianous' staple but in there interacting with the world created around them. These characters feel so natural in these fiction worlds or vastly different technology and they make it so believable and natural. That is why I love these games. The attitude in them. The way characters take control of what's happening in the story and not just being a slave to it. So, would you kindly just sit back, enjoy the episode, and check out SteamWorld Quest and Cyberpunk 2077 if you haven't. Smartboy.
The Strokes .- Shut Eye - Stealing Sheep .- Old Town Road - Lil Nas X

See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
