For years, the Unity Engine has operated with a royalty-free licensing structure, which meant developers incurred no extra costs based on how well a game sold. On Tuesday, however, the company announced of a new fee structure that will start charging developers on a "per-install" basis.  "We're not nickel-and-diming people," Unity CEO John Riccitiello once memorably said. Nvidia is al jaren marktleider op het gebied van het bouwen van computerchips voor kunstmatige intelligente, en dat zie je terug in het aantal investeerders dat niet langer investeert in startups die concurrerende chips proberen te bouwen. Nvidia's dominantie bij het bouwen van computerchips heeft de durfkapitaalfinanciering voor potentiële rivalen bekoeld, waarbij het aantal Amerikaanse deals dit kwartaal met 80% is gedaald ten opzichte van een jaar geleden. Naarmate Nvidia op gebied van sterker is geworden, is het steeds moeilijker geworden voor bedrijven die concurrerende chips proberen te bouwen. Omdat financiers deze startups als een risicovolle gok beschouwen, zijn ze nu niet meer bereid om grote geldinjecties te verstrekken. Het ontwikkelen van een chipontwerp tot een werkend prototype kan meer dan 500 miljoen dollar kosten, dus niet gek dat investeerder drie keer nadenken voordat ze de portemonnee trekken. En dat zorgt voor een donkere wolk boven de vooruitzichten van de startups.Kleine vergelijking tussen 2022 en 2023: Volgens gegevens van PitchBook hebben Amerikaanse chipstartups tot eind augustus dit jaar 881,4 miljoen dollar opgehaald. Verder in deze Tech Update: Microsoft, Google en OpenAI hebben sinds vorig jaar een fors hoger waterverbruik vanwege de enorme computerkracht die chatbots met zich meebrengen: tot een halve liter water per vijf verzoeken. Dat Datacenters gekoeld moeten worden is bekend. Met onze groeiende vraag naar clouddiensten groeit ook het waterverbruik voor het verkoelen en daar doen de AI-chatbots nog een enorme schep bovenop. Onderzoekers van de University of California hebben onderzocht dat voor vijf tot vijftig vragen op ChatGPT al snel 500 milliliter koelwater nodig is. Bedrijven als Microsoft en Google rapporteren hoeveel water en stroom zij verbruiken, maar het is niet altijd goed te zien in welke centra die precies worden verbruikt, en welke toepassingen precies schuldig zijn voor het hogere verbruik. Microsoft meldt bijvoorbeeld een groei in waterverbruik van 34 procent tussen 2021 en 2022, tot een totaal van bijna 6,5 miljard liter. Google meldde over 2022 ook een hoger waterverbruik: maar liefst 20 procent meer dan in 2021, tot een totaal van ruim 21 miljard liter water.  Even slikken voor de fans van Mario Kart Tour, na oktober zal er geen nieuwe content meer gemaakt worden voor het populaire spelletje op de smartphone. Nintendo brengt begin oktober de laatste contentupdate voor smartphonegame Mario Kart Tour uit. Je kan het spel daarna gewoon blijven spelen De game blijft daarna speelbaar, maar bouwt verder op de 'tours', racebanen die de ontwikkelaar eerder heeft uitgebracht. Nintendo maakte het nieuws bekend via een bericht in het spel zelf. Op woensdag 4 oktober verschijnt de Battle Tour voor het smartphonespel. Dat wordt gelijk de laatste contentupdate die Nintendo uitbrengt voor Mario Kart Tour. Toekomstige tours bestaan volgens de gamegigant uit content die eerder is verschenen. Vanaf 4 oktober worden alleen nog nieuwe banen, coureurs, karts of gliders toegevoegd die al in eerdere spelletjes zijn verschenen. Will early Ranked value be emphasized during this window, or continue to peak 4 or 5 tours after debut, thus allowing players to purchase the item just as the time is right? For example, the Shielded Speedster will be available the tour after Autumn Tour, if pattern holds, so we might be able to catch its early value still. When you spend 75 rubies thru coin rush, you get approx 12k coins, exactly the price of a HE driver ticket. Karts and Gliders then can you for 60 rubies. A full set comes out at 195 rubies. HEs from the regular pool should be slightly cheaper, say 60 and 50 respectively. Then you get 6 HEs for 355 which is less than 450, but this should in fact be the case as sometimes you get all HE before you empty the pipe Of course they can throw all kinds of exotic options in the mix, like get a discount for a dkg bundle, pair a new HE with an old regular pool HE, get a discount on first purchase, discount for GP players etc.**BATTLE MODE:**1:01:52 - With the upcoming MP update, is the battle mode hype still up? In MK8, the original battle mode was not played on battle courses, but rather on the default tracks. Is that a possibilty to solve the no-breaking issue? How else would they solve this issue? Or will they just add more ranks to MP, possibly with more rewards? They don't have the raw coverage but have the unpredictability of cup boosts and the built in base point advantage. While traditional plus skill drivers tend to have more coverage and an occasional cup boost. Should we only be investing in Mii drivers or will their day come and go much like a fad?51:39 - What is the best way to grow an account that does not invest heavily in Mii suits? Is it foolish to do it that way? Examples this tour: lightning streamliner (introduced 2 tours ago) not a single non-city buff and some items from last tour only got 1 non-city buff and in most cases an older track (DP, VL). How do you react to this? 1:23:05 -  Do you gamble more with investing without knowing much about its future value or do you keep more items at level 1 longer (maybe 5 or 6 tours instead of 2 or 3)? Have you ever turned a song on the radio and instantly been transported back to a specific scene in a movie? We have. It's these songs that have been indelibly ingrained into our memory and associated with that movie forever. Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind at Epcot opening date announced  Cracker Jack Introduces a new Cracker Jill line New cast for season 3 of Picard announced What we're Enjoying Jay, along with millions of us, tuned into the newest Disney+ Marvel series ‘Moon Knight'. It's a pretty unique and mind blowing story. But he's also been digging into the comic book origins and inspirations too.  We recommend it. Shua has been killing random seconds of free time a day playing the ios app Mario Kart Tour. This forgettable film stars Emilio Estevez, Mick Jagger, and Anthony Hopkins and had an interesting premise, but a less than perfect execution. The latest Marvel series on Disney+ is here! But we do know that memories are important for reminiscing about the great stuff we grew up with. All that school learning is something called ‘explicit' memory. It's memory that you can remember by thinking about it. Book learning. But the memory you get when you smell that pine and think of a special Christmas, or the song that takes you back to that first make out session is called ‘implicit' memory.    Implicit memory can be triggered by your senses. These outside stimuli trigger a thought back to another time that you might have been experiencing those senses. Strangely enough, the strongest time of a person's life that is likely to have these memories is between 10 and 30 years old. Meaning all that nostalgia people have when they are in their 40s is actually a psychological norm.    We love when a particular song triggers a memory of a movie. So Jay and Shua each put together a separate list of songs that take them back to a film. And they try to guess each other's pick.
