This week I got to talk with Mark Wylam. He is the owner and founder of Sports Pros Connect. A worldwide tennis coaching job platform that connects tennis coaches with academies, resorts, clubs and federations. I am so thrilled to welcome Anna Little to The Joy of SUP Podcast today. I discovered Anna on Instagram and her energy  for SUP shone through.Anna is 47 years old, from Wylam, Northumberland. She used to be a PE teacher, but when she had her1st son 13 years ago, she gave up work and retrained as a biomechanics coach & personal trainer. She now runs her own business, enabling her to work around her 3 children. She has always loved sports and being active. However, it has only been during these last few years that she realised how well her body responds to training and how much fun, challenging and rewarding SUP Racing is. She set up and helps run Northern SUP Race team in Northumberland. She is also  a sponsored team rider for Fanatic. Anna feels that paddle boarding is free medicine to her. She loves training on the water and loves being with likeminded friends. She loves seeing other people achieve and learn to paddle and get better and better. During Covid times we aren't seeing as many collab beers as we used to. Sure we're getting the rebrewing of a recipe to show support for breweries and Black Lives Matter, but we aren't getting team ups. Fortunately Wylam and Apex have teamed up to create In Defiance of Gravity, an IPA with Galaxy, BRU 1 and Simcoe hops. We follow that up with one of the first IPAs from Demoersleutel we've tried. Circumspect is a yummy, delicious DIPA. We've tried their stouts many times, this is another successful notch in their belt.  

Hot, hot gaming and beer chat this week. Lucy drinks Tartu Pilsner from Puhaste, Ben has a Session pale from North Brewing Co and Aadil sups Buxton Brewery's Lupulus X Simcoe IPA. The latest episode of the Mayo Clinic Q&A podcast, features a milestone in the treatment of cystic fibrosis (CF). Tim Myer has lived with cystic fibrosis his whole life. He was awaiting a lung transplant, when a new medication approved by the Food and Drug Administration changed everything. "There are about 30,000 patients in the U.S. with cystic fibrosis. This drug will expand treatment to 27,000, or 90% of all patients with CF in the U.S.," says Dr. Mark Wylam, a Mayo Clinic pulmonologist, and Myer's physician. Myer and Dr. Wylam share the story on this week's Mayo Clinic Q&A podcast.

This week, we talk to Eyes Brewing - the UK’s first wheat focused brewery, based in Bradford - an old industrial city in the heart of Yorkshire. I first met Dan Logan in 2016. At the time a stand-up comedian and formerly a teacher, Dan had the dream to start his own brewery focusing on wheat beers with a modern twist. Over the past few years, I’ve had the privilege of seeing Dan develop his brewery and realise his dream - often accompanied by hardships and strife - and was lucky enough to pay him and his new business partner, Pip Hardy, a visit in their new home at the site of the former Bradford Brewery. Now we drink 10. 'Ara Bier' from De Dolle, Wild Weather's 'Don't Pine For Me Apple Tina', Cloudwater's 'Pilsner Mandarina Bavaria' and the Magic Rock 'Cherry Cola Vice' start us off. We get traditional with the Langton Brewery 'Inclined Plain' and journey north with with the Northern Monk / Wylam 'I Like to Moob it, Moob it'. We go back to Good Chemistry and drink 'Steady State'. It's back to collabs with the rainbow project Siren / Sante Adairius 'Santa Del Firo' and we almost drink but only sample the Partizan / The Kernel 'Dual Runnings'. We finish with a quick Kwak from Brouwerij Bosteels and chat our favourite beers from the evening.

The latest episode of the Mayo Clinic Q&A podcast, features a milestone in the treatment of cystic fibrosis (CF). Tim Myer has lived with cystic fibrosis his whole life. He was awaiting a lung transplant, when a new medication approved by the Food and Drug Administration changed everything. "There are about 30,000 patients in the U.S. with cystic fibrosis. This drug will expand treatment to 27,000, or 90% of all patients with CF in the U.S.," says Dr. Mark Wylam, a Mayo Clinic pulmonologist, and Myer's physician.
