GC13 and David discuss It Takes Time, the series finale of Summer Camp Island. How many tropes did you spot in this episode? Because we found quite a few without really even looking. But if having a beautiful song to montage over is wrong, we don't want our cartoons to be right. All of the action … Continue reading
GC13 and David discuss Weather Your Weather from Summer Camp Island. Does anyone think there's a lot of magic happening for a world where the source of all magic has been destroyed? Last episode it was just a tornado and a ghost, but now we have a pool and a hatch to add to the list, … Continue reading
GC13 and David discuss Swellington Boots from Summer Camp Island. Susie has finally arrived. She's been the de facto main character of the series for a while, but now that she's experiencing a story arc she has officially joined the main character club. Sue and Doug take control of the situation and teach Susie a valuable … Continue reading
GC13 and David discuss Meeting of the Mounds from Summer Camp Island. Another series, another baseball episode filled with wacky hijinks—apparently nine innings worth, which is enough to drive anyone to exhaustion. Susie, you are forgiven—especially because at least you used your magic for a better reason than those other knuckleheads. Thankfully Oscar's parents aren't the … Continue reading
GC13 and David discuss Retrace Our Hooves from Summer Camp Island. It's okay Mildred, there's no rush—we're sure Susie has time to finish her epic death speech and make it out of the Metaphysical Reserve alive. And thank goodness that she does! Susie escapes from a not at all sinister place that had incredibly sinister designs on her. … Continue reading
GC13 and David discuss Croissant Moon from Summer Camp Island. With the help of Jimjams it's time to send Mildred into her dreams to find the Thin Place and break through it into the Metaphysical Reserve. Do you think she would have even had a chance of making it without Pepper's help? Perhaps as such a … Continue reading
GC13 and David discuss Bear With Me from Summer Camp Island. The Jar Guard has arrived on Summer Camp Island, and the Rascals have come out to finally feast on jelly at her expense. Thankfully they're not very observant, and fall prey to the old couch-is-actually-two-bears trick! It's not easy to convince the Jar Guard that … Continue reading
GC13 and David discuss Jar Guard from Summer Camp Island. And now we see what was happening a bit deeper into the Frozen North just as Susie was planning to unleash her newly minted swear words on her sister. The word “tragedy” feels quite appropriate. We may never truly understand the Pale Dog, but we can … Continue reading
GC13 and David discuss Night's Pockets from Summer Camp Island. So out finally comes Jimjams' true backstory: once a god, he was turned into a lowly purple pair of pajamas for his transgression against Time. At least he took his punishment like a champ. But unfortunately Time is still upset with him, so upset not even … Continue reading
GC13 and David discuss The Metaphysical Reserve from Summer Camp Island. The metaphysical reserve is a very mysterious place, but there's no mystery to Susie: she wants love and adoration, and as long as she's in the metaphysical reserve she'll get it. It's really too bad about the whole fossilization thing… But reality keeps intruding on … Continue reading
GC13 and David discuss The Last Witch from Summer Camp Island. Susie has a very complicated spell that just came to her (as if in a dream), but unfortunately it's going to require the witches to go into a trance one by one to keep it going. Except for Hedgehog, of course, who's responsible for Susie's … Continue reading
GC13 and David discuss Storybook Susie from Summer Camp Island. It's finally time that Susie's coven knows the full story: not only did Mildred turn hands into feet, she also drank Susie's immortality potion. Because she's her sister! But this isn't an anniversary, because Susie has decided it's time to try to reach Mildred: in the … Continue reading
GC13 and David discuss Go Get Our Girls from Summer Camp Island. It's one of the greatest mysteries since the introduction of the coven: where did the coven go? We knew they were on the island immediately before the campers appeared, then they vanished. Well they didn't go off to a summer camp of their own, … Continue reading
GC13 and David discuss The Three Grrs from Summer Camp Island. It's an episode about a bunch of jesters doing fun bits with banana peels for the king, what could possibly be depressing about that? Leave it to Oscar, he'll surely find a way. But thankfully the king isn't an “off with his head!” kind of … Continue reading
GC13 and David discuss Miracle Rabbit from Summer Camp Island. Each week adds even more fuel to the plot train. Ramona takes Oscar on a trip all the way to the Moon in order to meet the eponymous Miracle Rabbit to get a potion to deal with the tornado on Susie's neck—and he does seem like … Continue reading
GC13 and David discuss The Hits from Summer Camp Island. After a tornado sweeps through the island, Barb and the King have a bad feeling and so inspect “the hits”: the Rascals, the Spotted Bears, the ferns, and the magic diamond. Unfortunately Oscar's been on a bit of a barber binge, and he's not too happy … Continue reading
GC13 and David discuss Pepper's Funeral from Summer Camp Island. Oh Pepper, we hardly knew you. Wait, what? He's just officiating the funeral? That's a relief. Thank goodness these episode titles didn't leak—that really would have send the fandom into a tizzy, wouldn't it have? Were you waiting for the story to kick in? Because Pepper's Funeral … Continue reading
GC13 and David discuss See Bees? Gee! Bees! from Summer Camp Island. Oscar has a lot of dedication to his pursuit of enlightenment to spend three weeks walking a garden path 9,999 times. But he has even more dedication to his friend Hedgehog to turn down enlightenment (and probably a very cushy monastery job) to be … Continue reading
GC13 and David discuss If I Only Had a Wand from Summer Camp Island. If any time spent with Hedgehog's mother is depressing, then what does it say about this episode that has by far the most screen time for her? But as mean as she is to Hedgehog, she's doing it all for a reason. … Continue reading

GC13 and David discuss The Legs from Summer Camp Island. Summer Camp Island, here we are! It's time to discuss the sixth and final season, and we're starting up on a story arc. https://comicbook.com/anime/news/amazing-world-of-gumball-movie-steve-urkel-revival-canceled-hbo-max-cancellations/ From Comicbook.com: "The Amazing World of Gumball's new movie project, a new Family Matters story bringing back Steve Urkel, Looney Tunes movie projects and more are not moving forward with HBO Max according to a new report. Animation fans have seen a number of major projects being cancelled following Warner Bros. and Discovery's merger, and many of these have resulted in projects being completely removed from Warner Bros' libraries entirely. HBO Max has removed a wide range of projects from the streaming service, and unfortunately many of the animation projects in the works are being cancelled as well before they even get a chance to air. According to a new report from TVLine, more major animated projects previously in the works for HBO Max have been cancelled. Unlike the other cancellations we have seen in the past such as Summer Camp Island's final season being postponed and thus seemingly wiped away entirely, the report also notes that there is a chance many of these projects could live on in some other form as they are currently being shopped around while continuing their production. So not all is lost for the following projects revealed in the report just yet, but it's not looking too hot either. The Warner Bros. animated projects no longer moving forward with HBO Max include the following: Batman: Caped Crusader Merry Little Batman The Day The Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie Bye Bye Bunny: A Looney Tunes Musical Did I Do That to the Holidays? A Steve Urkel Story The Amazing World of Gumball: The Movie It's notable to see that apparently each of these projects will be continuing with their respective productions in the hopes that they will be picked up for something outside of HBO Max considering many of the cancellations we have seen already have cut off each of them at the root. So while they will no longer be produced for the streaming service, there's still a chance we'll get to see them someday. It's just a matter of whether or not this actually gets to happen." GC13 and David discuss the Betsy and the Ghost arc from the fifth season of Summer Camp Island. Are you ready for sad? Because if you remember the first season of Summer Camp Island, you know that this can't have a happy ending. Poor Betsy… At least now we know Susie wasn't interfering with Betsy's … Continue reading
GC13 and David discuss the Barb and the Spotted Bears arc from the fifth season of Summer Camp Island. What starts out as a cute bedtime story (about putting spotted bears to bed, oddly enough) turns into a very important-feeling story about a pair of interlopers coming to the island to eat a jelly pool. … Continue reading

GC13 and David discuss Pepper and the Fog, the (very bizarre) finish to the fourth season of Summer Camp Island. Yeah, did you understand any of that? There's a lot to unpack. Pepper and the Fog doesn't just feature a new voice actor for Pepper, it features a new outlook too. Now he really likes Susie, and … Continue reading
GC13 and David discuss Hall of Mooms from Summer Camp Island. This episode told us so much, but it was great seeing all of the witches in Hedgehog's ancestry (and one very mysterious ancestor you may or may not have seen!). It even told us that, at one time, there were witch hunters! Still, Summer Camp … Continue reading
GC13 and David discuss Hark the Gerald Sings from Summer Camp Island. We may have lost fairies from Summer Camp Island's pantheon of magical creatures this season, but we've been given a new one: superstitions! Betsy gets her chance to shine by revealing to us Gerald, the unpleasant mirror life holds up to Oscar. Just … Continue reading
GC13 and David discuss He's Just Not Here Right Now from Summer Camp Island. This is the debut (maybe?) of the Jersey Devil, a very good hider who serves as the boogeyman of the pine barrens and an eater of sandwiches. It's also a flashback to Oscar and Hedgehog in their younger days, back when Oscar … Continue reading
GC13 and David discuss Shave A Little Off the Wheel from Summer Camp Island, another very different-feeling episode of the series. Cookiesmell the mouse goes on an annual adventure for a ridiculously small amount of cheese, but this year he makes a friend: a snowflake named Snowflake. We can't be certain that Snowflake will return to the … Continue reading
GC13 and David discuss Tomorrow's Bananas from Summer Camp Island, a double-meaning of an episode title if we've ever heard one. And tomorrow IS bananas, especially when you're using bananas to shape it. Sounds like a certain rubber piggy-centric episode of another cartoon, doesn't it? Susie is quite the uplifting mentor when she wants to be, … Continue reading
GC13 and David discuss Jeremiah from Summer Camp Island. Oscar, the camper with the most telepathically intrudable mind, just so happened to stumble on one of Susie's magical artifacts that preys on weakness. What are the odds? Yep, Susie probably should have brought in Hedgehog for this one. All's well that ends well though. Do you … Continue reading
GC13 and David discuss The Emily Ghost Institute For Manners and Magical Etiquette from Summer Camp Island, and yep: that title is a mouth full. And we all know how rude it is to talk with your mouth full. Well, except for maybe Oscar. (He's kind of thick, you see.) At least he didn't have to … Continue reading
GC13 and David discuss Oscar and His Demon from Summer Camp Island. It's an episode where the strictest standards of silence are upheld. There's no speaking, no music, and no sounds of wildlife (don't worry, the woodpeckers are excellent mimes). Well we say there's no speaking, but that bit at the end… Oscar's demon gives voice … Continue reading
GC13 and David discuss Spirit Balls from Summer Camp Island. Ah, 10 years before Betsy. Isn't it nice to be able to place things on a timeline? We get another look at Mallory in this episode, but it's Emma we really get a dive into. But… Do we actually understand her any better? No, no, all … Continue reading
GC13 and David discuss Breakfast Like Gene Kelly from Summer Camp Island. We may not know much about Gene Kelly, but we know a lot about Summer Camp Island—except for maybe monster names, we're still working on those. Thank goodness we have pine needle skiing with a ski patrol, and a swear patrol to go along … Continue reading
GC13 and David bring up a double-header and discuss both Sea Bunnies and Mushrumours from Summer Camp Island. Sea Bunnies is a wild ride, not least because of the huge difference in art style the episode has. Just watch out for the sea rabbits: they're not nearly as cute and cuddly as they first appear… … Continue reading
GC13 and David discuss Susie's Fantastical Scavenger Hunt from Summer Camp Island. Yeah, Susie's lost a lot of earring backs, okay? At least she remembers vaguely where she lost them. And apparently isn't too particular about where she gets them from, as long as she gets them. Oscar and Lucy make a good team though, even … Continue reading
GC13 and David discuss Sneeze Guard from Summer Camp Island. Yes, an episode about being sick to follow an episode about germs. And oh how sick things become. Alice doesn’t pass her illness on to anyone, oh no—she passes it on to the island itself. Magical illnesses don’t mess around on Summer Camp Island. Thankfully, witches … Continue reading
