PUBLIC VERSION. Actor and filmmaker Dean Cameron (“Chainsaw” from SUMMER SCHOOL, BAD DREAMS, ROCKULA, SKI SCHOOL 1 & 2, IT'S ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA, WE BARE BEARS, SHAMELESS, WILL & GRACE, ALF and so many more) joins Adam, Joe, and Arwen in the ArieScope Studio to discuss his career journey. From stealing the show at just 6 years old when he starred in a play alongside his father… to performing in plays as a teenager alongside actors like John Ritter and Eric Stoltz… to moving to Los Angeles right out of High School and working odd jobs for 4 years before beginning to work steadily as an actor… to the crushing disappointment of the first TWO major roles he booked not actually happening… to knowing from the moment he read the script for SUMMER SCHOOL that the role of “Chainsaw” was absolutely going to be his… to the important lesson that director Carl Reiner taught him during his audition… to the late 90's when the exciting roles were no longer coming his way… to finding himself so disenchanted with the industry that he stepped away and found himself once again working odd jobs like a computer programmer, a karaoke band musician, and a Las Vegas magician… to discovering that taking a break from Hollywood was precisely what he needed to fall in love with it all over again… to returning to his true calling by immersing himself in all aspects of storytelling (writing, directing, producing), working with friends and good people that he chooses to work with, and not giving a f*ck what anyone else thinks… Dean's extremely clear, totally sincere, and brutally honest perspective on the entertainment industry is one that every artist (aspiring or veteran) will benefit from hearing. (SUMMER SCHOOL fans are going to have their minds blown by all of the behind the scenes anecdotes that Dean shares in the spectacular second half of this phenomenal episode!) Dr. Arwen provides “Hollywood Therapy” for a writer who has created an ideal set-up to write in but who is having trouble getting any actual writing accomplished… Dean wins Adam's heart with his true love of metal… and the boys fail miserably at controlling their excitement over meeting one of their cinematic heroes in this heartfelt and fantastically fun conversation that is THE MOVIE CRYPT at its very best!

Phil, Jake and Beth are joined by writer, model and friend Eirinie Carson to rank the TV sitcom Frasier, the British Royal Family, and fast fashion on the List of Every Damn Thing.Follow Eirinie on Instagram (@eirinieeee) and Twitter (@Eirineee). Her fundraising page can be found here. You can follow her progress on Instagram (@little.free.antiracist.library).If you have something to add to the list, email it to list@everydamnthing.net (or get at us on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook).SHOW NOTES: We talk briefly about kid's shows, including We Bare Bears, Apple & Onion and Hey Duggee. In Apple & Onion, Richard Ayoade plays Onion. He and his best friend Apple live in an apartment and deal with various problems. Everyone they know is food. It's strange because their friend Falafel has ground onions inside of him and they never mention it. It's like Pixar's Cars where it's best not to think about it too much. Here's some examples of the rules of anthropomorphic food on the show. Sitcoms discussed in this episode include Cheers, 30 Rock, Seinfeld, The IT Crowd and Peepshow. Phil also brings up That Mitchell & Webb Look, which isn't sit but is com. We were right in assuming Kelsey Grammer hung out with Robin Williams. It turns out they were roommates at Julliard. It's possible they may have used cocaine together. Here's the article Beth mentions about Grammer's problematic politics putting the Frasier reboot at risk. When Jake says the character of Daphne Moon reminds him of Cathy, this is what he's talking about. There's some talk of how Julia-Louis Dreyfus / Elaine changed throughout the course of Seinfeld. It's possible when Phil said this what really was happening was that he himself was growing into manhood and began to look at JLD differently. Here's some fish-throwing at Pike Place Market. Our Black Frasier discussion includes the one on 30 Rock as well as Phoebe Robinson podcast. Eirinie doesn't think Choppin' Broccoli is funny but Jake still does. Here's Monica Bellucci in a latex dress from The Matrix movies. She wears more than one so here's a video of all Monica Bellucci content from those films, compiled by someone operating with one hand. Most of Jake & Beth's research on the royal family was done by watching The Crown on Netflix. Jake also listened to the Prince Harry interview on Dax Sheppard's podcast. Fast fashion retailers discussed include H&M, UNIQLO, Target and Old Navy. They're all doing okay so we didn't provide links. The holidays are officially underway, so Noel and Kate decided to look back on one of the shows Noel has been most thankful for over the past few years, We Bare Bears. Before we dive in for the DVD Shelf, though, we have plenty to discuss in Our Week in TV, starting with the latest Adventure Time: Distant Lands, the final arc of Great Pretender, returning favorites on The Mandalorian, another fun Superstore, the first ever mega-leg of The Amazing Race, and of course, The Great British Bake Off. It’s another challenging week, so we’re going full ridiculous, escapist fare this episode. Noel and Kate kick things off with some TV news, then move to a truncated week in TV. Noel catches us up with We Bare Bears: The Movie, then Kate checks in with The Great Canadian Baking Show, we both talk Blown Away season one, and Kate teases the Holey Moley II: The Sequel finale. We round out the week with some thoughts on a disappointing Lovecraft Country, and then head to the spotlight section. This episode, we welcome friend of the show Keenan Caldwell to help us discuss season one of Netflix’s Alta Mar, or High Seas. Melodramatic murder mystery mayhem on a transatlantic voyage! I am amazed at how our kids are so much more woke than we were at their age or even than we are now. They take things like demanding equality for granted. This is because of children’s media and stories that aren’t afraid to show them the world as it is. One media influencer who does this brilliantly is Daniel Chong. Daniel Chong is the creator of We Bare Bears, a popular Cartoon Network television series. He is releasing a new TV movie on Monday, Sept. 7 at 6pmET/PT, We Bare Bears: The Movie. Not only are there loveable bears in this movie, but there are also themes of belonging, identity, loyalty, equality, and justice--all things we like to talk about here at Parenting Forward. In this episode, Daniel and I talk about the movie and the challenges he has encountered in getting it out into the world. Show Highlights: Daniel’s response to those who say We Bare Bears is too political. What he wants kids to know about celebrity culture and how to find a sense of identity in the current climate. How he overcame stereotypes and owned his vocation as a creative. The positives and negatives of the influx of media for our kids. How he understands what will resonate with kids.
