The new #TheEqualizer starring #QueenLatifah and #ToryKittles takes the tried-and-true detective "man with specific skills saving people" formula and gives it a new twist in more ways than one. Aside from the change of having a woman as the person with the specific skills, the show also focuses on a number of issues facing the Black community that are often overlooked. As the nation reels from another terrorist attack against Black people yet again, it's important to note how entertainment/art fields can also creatively tackle these situations and bring to light the history of covert and overt oppression and terrorizing of Black and other POC and marginalized groups. Through that, in part, education and change has been possible - as we've seen through the centuries. In this interview, Tory and Joe talk about the dynamic in the show and the hope it brings to audiences. In one episode mentioned, Tory's character Dante confronts a dirty, racist cop (spoilers). In another, #JadaPinkettSmith guest stars as Jessie, a friend and professional thief Robyn hires to steal back a multi-million dollar personal portrait stolen from the family of victims of the Tulsa Massacre. The season finale aired on Sunday. All episodes available on Cbs. The show has been renewed for a third and fourth season. . . . . . #TheEqualizerSeries #TerriEddaMiller #AndrewWMarlowe #LizaLapira #LorraineToussaint #LayaDeLeonHayes #RonCanada #theequalizercbs #tvshows #cbs #cbstv #blackhistory #blackfilmhistory #filmmakers #filmmaking #filmhistory #tulsamassacre #blackhope --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/nancygandcorryg/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/nancygandcorryg/support

SIENNA MILLER, star of American Sniper, Foxcatcher and new film WANDER DARKLYABOUT SIENNA'S NEW FILM WANDER DARKLY, IN THEATERS AND STREAMING DECEMBER 11thIn WANDER DARKLY, a traumatic accident leaves a couple, Adrienne (Sienna Miller) and Matteo (Diego Luna), in a surreal state of being that takes them on a disorienting journey through the duality of their shared moments. By reliving fond recollections from the beginning of their romance while also navigating the overwhelming truths of their present, they must rediscover the love that truly binds them together. Writer-director Tara Miele offers a profound new perspective on the delicate nature of relationships with this emotionally moving story about a couple who must reflect on their past in order to face their uncertain future.ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY ARTICLE ON WANDER DARKLY FROM OCTOBER 2020"What do you think happens when you die?"It's a question we've all asked ourselves, but in Wander Darkly, Sienna Miller's Adrienne must literally confront the great beyond if she wants to move forward from a traumatic accident.Dolphins and lush landscapes abound in EW's exclusive trailer for the film, before darkness and horror begin to descend. Wander Darkly finds Adrienne and her partner Matteo (Diego Luna) after a car crash, which leaves them in a disorienting, surreal state in which they relive their history together - from their fond beginnings to the hard truths in their present. They can't face their uncertain future, with their newborn daughter's wellbeing at stake, until they reflect on their past. Director Tara Miele, whose own car accident inspired her to write the film, told EW at SCAD that it was "quite cathartic" to share her story with the world. For her, the film's themes surrounding the value of life were amplified following Kobe Bryant's unexpected death, which happened the day after they screened the film at Sundance. "I was in my head - you're at Sundance, it's quite noisy, and there's all this craziness going on," Miele said. "When that happened, I just remember thinking, 'Right, that's why you made this movie, because [life] is so delicate. It's so precious. And none of this is really 'the thing,' right? The thing is your family and the people you love and the time you have.'"Miller's recent performances - in Wander Darkly as well as in 2018's American Woman, another complex indie centered around a woman dealing with tragedy - have earned her career-high reviews. The veteran performer spoke to EW about roles for women in 2020 and what she looks for in a film."I'm always looking to be challenged. I think the roles are a little better, I think people are more focused on more fully-fledged female characters in cinema," Miller said. "I was just fortunate to find two really rich people to play. I also think being a woman is messy and complicated and hard and emotional. And they felt very real to me, very grounded in a sense of reality. And that's what I'm always looking for is, 'Does this tell the truth about the human experience from a female perspective?'"Wander Darkly arrives in select theaters and on-demand Dec. 11. It also stars Beth Grant, Aimee Carrero, Tory Kittles, Brett Rice, and Vanessa Bayer. The trailer is here: https://ew.com/movies/trailers/sienna-miller-confronts-life-death-wander-darkly-trailer/SIENNA MILLER BIOSienna Miller was born in New York, educated in England, and studied drama at the Lee Strasberg Institute. Her film debut came in 2004 opposite Daniel Craig in Layer Cake. From there, she appeared in Factory Girl, Casanova, The Edge of Love, Interview and GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra. Miller received a British Independent Film Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her role in The Edge of Love, and both a BAFTA Orange Rising Star Award and an Independent Spirit Award for her performance in Interview. In 2013, she was nominated for a BAFTA TV and a Golden Globe for her role in HBO's The Girl playing Alfred Hitchcock's muse Tippi Hedren. In 2015, Miller starred in Foxcatcher, nominated for five Academy Awards. In the same year, she starred opposite Bradley Cooper in Clint Eastwood's Academy Award Best Picture nominee American Sniper. Other film credits include Unfinished Business, Burnt, and her British Independent Film Award-nominated role in High-Rise. Miller also played the enthralling Emma Gould in Live By Night and the early feminist Nina Fawcett in The Lost City of Z directed by James Gray.In 2019 Miller played Deb in American Woman, directed by Jake Scott, with co-stars Aaron Paul and Christina Hendricks. Her performance received outstanding reviews from the LA Times, TheWrap, Vogue among others. Two other 2109 projects were Showtime's The Loudest Voice, playing Elizabeth Ailes, wife of Roger Ailes (played by Russell Crowe), and 21 Bridges with Chadwick Boseman and J.K. Simmons.Stage credits include the Broadway productions of Cabaret and After Miss Julie, and Flare Path, As You Like It, and Cat on a Hot Tin Roofin London's West End. Outside of her acting career, Sienna serves as Global Ambassador for the International Medical Corps.

We’re headed into the swamps this week to talk about FRANKENFISH! This giant killer fish flick is directed by Mark Duppe(Spawn), written by Simon Barrett(You’re Next, The Guest, Blair Witch) and Scott Clevenger and stars Tory Kittles, K.D. Aubert, Donna Biscoe and China Chow. Frankenfish is loosely based on an actual snakehead fish infestation in Maryland circa 2002. The movie, however, is about Medical Examiner Sam Rivers as he travels back to the swamps where giant fish start picking off the residents of a houseboat community. There’s white guy dreads, voodoo subplots, some mafia guys or something and a heart-eating! It’s really entertaining!
