We did our first LIVE podcast event in New Zealand, and it was sparkly, chic and extremely luxurious. We had the absolute honour of sitting down with Tasha Jenkins and Christine Power (two brilliant experts from the iconic Webb's Auction House) to talk about the ins and outs of investing in luxury items. The questions (like the Veuve) were flowing. Where do we start? How long do we keep a piece for? How volatile is the market? Do ethics come into it? Is orange a bad choice? Should we keep the box? Plus, some great audience questions, Soph's Birkin ‘mouth fart' and lots and lots of laughs (thanks, Mike Hallwright). A golden episode for lovers of all things lush. We'd like to say a HUGE thank you to Webbs for hosting us at their beautiful auction house and to all of our favourite brands who got involved. Massive thank you to Veuve Clicquot, Almighty, Batched, Eve Wellness, Aotea, and Goldie, we couldn't have done it without you! Watch the episode on YouTube. "Law enforcement had different plans for me" ATO Family please welcome retired Dallas SWAT and current Texas Attorney General Fugitive Unit Chris Webb is back on the mic for another episode. He sat in his own episode to talk about his incredible career and also a vision that he had back in 2019 to continue to serve his brothers and sisters in the first responder community by creating a retreat that puts mental health and wellness on the forefront. Chris and his amazing wife, Judge Rainey Webb, put their amazing minds together and created a comprehensive approach to give back to the community. However, the 2020 pandemic had different plans for this retreat and would shelve this program. Then life unfolded for Chris as he got back into law enforcement and began a journey with the Texas Attorney General's office. Chris became focused on his new career and mission but never fully gave up on his dream for his first responder retreat. This is a different story of Chris Webb's life journey. It isn't the story of him applying and fighting to become a member of the Dallas SWAT team, or enduring critical incident after critical incident, or stepping away from a career to be there for his family. This is the story of Chris and Rainey Webb's dream coming to fruition as the idea of the Righteous Oaks Retreat became a reality. Here to help tell this story has the Great Misty Vancuren and the highly respected Mesquite PD Assistant Chief Doug Yates behind the mics to talk about taking this leap of faith in joining The Webbs and the Warrior Healer, Dr. Tania Glenn, on this Righteous mission.
Whew! We back with another one! This episode is JAM PACKED with food and travel recommendations, events, and (of course) just a lil bit of the social commentary you have come to know and expect from us. We bring back the Motivational and Mental Health moments and round it all out with some great reviews and give Roses! If you never listened to The Webbs before, give us a try! In 1989, Betsy Evans Hunt had an unexpected encounter with internationally acclaimed photographer Todd Webb that would prove life-changing. Her educational and professional background prepared Betsy well for the day that Todd and his wife, Lucille, walked into the Evans Gallery in Portland, Maine. Betsy's graduate thesis about famed photographers Alfred Stieiglitz and Georgia O'Keeffe, and work for Robert Mapplethorpe in New York City, enabled her to speak intelligently and passionately about the fine art photography world. Todd, a 1920's era stockbroker-turned-photographer trained by Ansel Adams, had once worked with Georgia O'Keeffe. The Webbs, by then in their eighties and living in central Maine, formed a bond with Betsy that would continue until Todd's death at age 94 in 2000. Betsy continues to support his legacy through the Todd Webb Archives, museum placements and publications. Join our conversation with Betsy Evans Hunt today on Radio Maine.

Christmas lights have been a tradition for so long, it's hard to imagine December without them. We heard a rumor that Denver was the birthplace of these magical twinkling bulbs — so we called up Colorado history expert Dr. William Wei to find out more. Guest host Avery Lill chats with Dr. Wei about his latest book, Becoming Colorado, which traces the state's history using the backstories of one hundred objects, including a box of Christmas lights. We also went on a mission to find the folks behind the brilliant light displays at Denver's City and County Building and connected with Nate, Madeline, and Heidi Webb . The Webbs have run their event lighting company Blazen Illuminations in Colorado for more than two decades and they share the secrets to what makes those holiday light shows so fun to watch. Auction house Webbs have been forced to move 44 classic cars out of ASB Showgrounds, after the venue went into liquidation last night. The cars were due to be auctioned off at the Showgrounds this Sunday, but the event has had to be postponed. The Showgrounds have been struggling financially since before the pandemic and the board have made the decision to voluntarily liquidate.Head of collectors' cars for Webbs Caolan McAleer told Heather du Plessis-Allan that he was pretty shocked and dumbfounded when they heard what had happened."We worked tirelessly today to move [the cars] off site and into secure storage."He says they will definitely make the event happen in some degree at a different site. You're not fit to Referee! A study conducted by Dr. Tom Webb, a Senior Lecturer at University of Portsmouth, found that more than nine in 10 referees in England have been verbally abused, with 59.7% experiencing some form of abuse every two games. The research was collated in Dr. Webbs book, Referees, Match Officials & Abuse. Dr. Webb told BBC sport in November 2020, "Abuse is still a significant issue, probably the biggest in refereeing. Mental health within referees is intrinsically tied to abuse." Referee abuse is nothing new, but it has perhaps gained new found notoriety in recent weeks following the incident involving Darren Drysdale and Alan Judge. We wanted to take a look at why referee abuse occurs, what are the implications, and what can we do as fans to help improve the situation. This week on the podcast ...Corona still killing vibes and keeping us in the house. This week The Webbs bring back an old classic segment, "Why Is This Problematic" to discuss some of y'alls behavior. We also talk about how we are coping and taking care of ourselves, (virtual workouts and virtual club-hopping are just some of the ways). #Verzuz battles on Instagram have become a guilty pleasure and the latest one between the legends Teddy Riley and Babyface was great for all the wrong reasons. We have several quick reviews of several TV shows and movies. And as always we have your Motivation and Mental Health Moments, and give some very special Roses. I’m excited to bring you a new segment on the podcast called Webbs of Wisdom (WoW). These bite sized episodes under 10 minutes are are designed to bring you nuggets of wisdom that I have learnt along the way that could help you on the fly. For decades anyone who felt depressed or struggled with anxiety was thought to be weak. We have been living in a society and culture that supported this “suck it up” and “man up” culture which is extremely unhealthy and not at all what is needed. I’m here today to remind you that anxiety does not make you weak in any way, shape or form. Expressing your emotions, understanding when you’re feeling anxious and working on your mental strength are all topics I discuss on the podcast today. It’s important to understand that working on your mental strength requires just as much practice and repetition as your physical strength. Both need to be supported in the same way, and both need your attention in order to achieve the results you’re working towards. Bruce and Julie Webb have owned and operated the Webb Gallery in Waxahachie, Texas since 1987. The art gallery is a destination for collectors worldwide who share the Webb’s fondness of art in its rawest and most authentic form. Bruce funneled the eccentricities of his family’s history and a childhood combing through flea markets to develop a love for the odd, handmade and unique. He and Julie have worked over the last 30 years to curate an aesthetic that recognizes contemporary folk art that in Bruce’s words “feels like it’s from another planet.” The couple’s world-class collection of art from fraternal organizations (like the Masons and Odd Fellows) led to Bruce co-authoring a fully-illustrated book on the subject in 2016 titled As Above, So Below: Art of the American Fraternal Society, 1850-1930. The Webbs are a household name in the world of “outsider art” and are participants each year in New York’s Outsider Art Fair.I recently sat down with Bruce and Julie at their gallery where we discussed flea markets, punk rock, Free Masonry, hobos, folk art, the uniqueness of Waxahachie, their friendship with David Byrne, and spending half the year on the road finding treasures.

A little about our guests. Charlie and Lisa live for the great outdoors. They enjoy hiking, exploring, and even lived and travelled full time in an RV with their son, Charlie. Every morning they start their day with a hike up into the mountains of the San Ynez Valley in California. The Webbs are married and have been together for 15 years. Charlie the Younger is their son. They also have 3 children from previous lives. A little about their business. Charlie holds 2 US Patents and 2 pending for medical packaging equipment. He has a Business and Management degree and went on to study at the Anderson Graduate School at UCLA. Charlie is the quality team leader with a six sigma black belt. Lisa is all about the concept to completion process. She was the sales and marketing director for one of the nation’s oldest custom metal fabricators. Her experience in an industry where on time delivery is a requisite makes Lisa the perfect driver for the fast-paced, dynamic firm. Van der Stahl Scientific is a medical device packaging machinery company. Lives are lost when supposed sterile packaging of medical device isn’t sterile. Packaging equipment can literally mean the difference between life and death and Charlie and Lisa continue to improve their company and education to keep people safe. One piece of advice (the nutshell version) You’ve got to have passion and energy in everything you do. Don’t be lazy. But be sure to integrate free time into your life. Stephen Webb is a life-time entrepreneur who has build several businesses over the years in partnership with his wife. His first company was based on his childhood dream of designing and building furniture. Together, the Webbs built a successful business with several hundred accounts and thriving catalog sales, before selling the company. The pair then developed a successful business in real estate rentals and sales in the active South Carolina market, before recognizing the value of digital real estate (or domain names) approximately 2 years ago. They have since built the largest portfolio of domains preceded with "I Am" and "We Are" in the domain industry.
