When God shows us something, it's time to act on it, right? Well, as we look through Scripture, that's certainly not often the case. As Scott and Ken mention, sometimes we struggle to understand what God wants us to do and when. This struggle is meant to help us rely on God more fully. Otherwise, we are virtually guaranteed to make a mess of it as we try to do things ourselves. That's the struggle of being a forerunner. He's written two books, The Blue Team, and Stop the Tall Man, Save the Tiger. Life has thrown him many curveballs, including an unexpected transition out of sports broadcasting. But probably the biggest curveball was realizing that he and his family had spent years in a cult - and they didn't realize it. Now, looking back, he has a powerful perspective on the importance of good leadership - especially in the home - and how to recognize the kind of toxic leadership and culture that has the potential to create a cult. His story can enlighten us to the dangers of powerful, but misguided (and misguiding) leadership. These are lessons that have cost him and his family dearly, and our hope is that his story can help some avoid the pain he's gone through and others find healing and restoration.✅ Follow to get the show for free✅ Let's Connect✅ Get updates on my book

Her passion for family, women, and leadership has evolved and intensified over many decades. As a wife and mom of 30+ years, she has poured herself into nurturing and guiding her family to thrive and excel in self-discovery and their pursuit of their God-given abilities. As a practitioner with over 20 years of professional experience, her passion to impact women drives her every day. Dr. Davis' areas of research interest include gender inequality, organizational leadership, women empowerment, and family dynamics. She believes there is a huge distinction between a woman's calling, which is determined by God, and a church's doctrine about the utilization of women, which is a cultural decision predominantly determined by men. She advocates for churches of all denominations to begin having an open dialogue about systemic oppression and alienation against women. Especially those who show no regard for women's callings or competency levels. Women need to be developed and commissioned to serve at the highest levels. For this purpose, Dr. Davis examines the deep-rooted conflict concerning what God intended when He created Eve in the Garden of Eden. She asks poignant questions, inviting women to explore how they see themselves based on God's original plan for them and seeks to empower them to discover and unleash their strengths and to help them conquer self-defeating habits. Dr. Davis is also the co-founder, along with her husband, ofhttps://empowertoengage.com/ ( Empower to Engage), as well as an author, mediator, facilitator, conflict coach, a certified Marriage Today and Marriage on the Rock trainer, and a marriage and relationship coach. As a Christian business leader, do you sometimes feel lost or without a clear purpose? Have no fear! In this powerful episode, I talk with Pierce Brantley about calling within business. Through each book, he leverages his dual calling in business development and Christian men's leadership to guide men toward success – whether on the job or in the home. Before the age of twenty-six, he'd launched, run, and sold a consulting company. He was a VP of a top ten PR firm in Dallas, and taught companies nationwide about using Christ-centered business principles. Since then, he's consulted Fortune 500 companies like Panasonic, United Healthcare, Corning, Ericsson, and more. But he doesn't account this success to himself. As the oldest of nine children, he grew up in the boondocks of East Texas and well below the poverty line. Total reliance on God, the need to provide for his family, and a strong work ethic borne of necessity, resulted in his drive. Today, he puts that same intense motivation into teaching men how to lead themselves and their families well. He's also happily married to his wife, Kristie, in Dallas, TX. Here are things Pierce writes about: Being a Christian in the workplace Equipping yourself to lead like Christ Managing your business as a Christian Stewarding your life well Having a Christian perspective on current affairs ABOUT THE LEADERSHIP MOMENTThe world needs more great leaders, but leadership in God's Kingdom is upside down. NICOLE DAVISDr. Nicole Davis is a wife, mother, pastor, Christian life coach, social science researcher, and conflict resolution practitioner. Dr. Davis is also the co-founder, along with her husband, of https://empowertoengage.com/ (Empower to Engage), as well as an author, mediator, facilitator, conflict coach, a certified Marriage Today and Marriage on the Rock trainer, and a marriage and relationship coach.

Leadership is about more than just doing the right thing, it's also about knowing what that is. Listen to discover the value of discerning God's will. Read the Blog Post Share on Twitter Share on Facebook We all want to do the right thing, but sometimes it's hard to know what that is. There are so many opportunities to serve that those of us who truly have a heart to serve have to be careful, or we can do more harm than good. If we're not careful, we could be walking in the PRESUMPTION that God will equip and empower us, without knowing for sure that we're actually CALLED. If we're doing the wrong thing (or the right thing at the wrong time or with the wrong people) we might be walking in the PRESUMPTION that God will equip us, without knowing for sure that we're actually CALLED. Let's be careful to always walk fully in God's calling and serve well as leaders. KEY TAKEAWAYS Choose wisely who and when you serve. Don't PRESUME God will equip you for something without first confirming that He's CALLED you to it. Be careful how you set expectations for yourself and others. The key to true transformational leadership is a willingness to be the first to change, to always be learning and engaging culture, and to invest time in deep relationships with others before ever trying to lead change. This may be one of the most challenging tasks for any leader, because it goes against our nature. But if we don't do it, our attempts to affect real change will never work. Listen as Scott and Dr. Noah Manyika continue their conversation about transformational leadership. Listen to Discover: The one kind of expectations most likely to put us into an awkward position or make us feel like we've been blindsided. When cross-cultural missionaries can assume they've dug deep enough into understanding culture and relationships (hint: never). How our expectations can create a great chasm between what we think we're communicating and what is actually heard and how it's understood. Why we should prepare as though the unexpected will happen (and why it's biblical). Why understanding and connecting with people is the key. A word from God is powerful. It can sustain. It can direct. It can encourage or give freedom. And, thankfully, we know that God speaks to us in many ways - and continues to do so, even to today. But, as we look across the landscape, it seems like so many Christian leaders say they're sharing what God has shown them, yet disagree amongst themselves, as though God might be unsure what He's saying. And we know that God is not a God of confusion. We know it's important to hear from God. But how can we know that it's really God's voice? As we continue the conversation we started with Terance Clark in the last episode, you'll discover Why it seems like there's so much contradiction. What's often missing in our spiritual disciplines. Whose point of view really matters. Some ways God can enlighten us to how we're seeing things incorrectly. What happens when we get ahead of what God's revealed to us. What might need to happen as we begin to hear from God. What is often the source of self-promotion (hint: self-promotion isn't a problem, it's a symptom). How God gives us rest. What does leadership have to do with a supernatural encounter with God? As Terance Clark shares, sometimes it takes these kinds of experiences to get us to set aside our preconceptions, our desire to know and to control, and to lay down the things that preoccupy us. For some, this might be an uncomfortable idea -that we can experience the supernatural. That God might actually bypass our expectations and intervene. However, we have clear biblical examples of God doing just that. And there's no reason that God can't continue to reveal Himself however He wills. Listen to Discover: What reverence and fear of God really means. What can happen when we fail to realize who God REALLY is. What we're often preoccupied with. How God's perspective on leadership is different from our current cultural expectation. How God wants us to share what He's shown or told us. How do I become a great leader? I’s a common question that many of us ask. And if we think of great leaders, we may think of business, military, political, or spiritual leaders as examples.
