Gary Collins - The Simple Life
I know at times, it seems like the people doing the wrong thing are constantly being rewarded for their bad behavior. Does that mean you just give up and join them? Why keep fighting the good fight and get punished for it, you may ask? I firmly believe good always trumps evil as long as the good continues to fight. We can't give up we have to keep fighting and doing the right thing. As I always say, once you cross that line, there is no going back. Frank Larkin is a former Navy SEAL and so was his son Ryan, who died by suicide in 2017. As part of his commitment to Troops First and its Warrior Call initiative, Larkin says he wants to educate people about undiagnosed physical injuries to the brain that warriors may suffer during their service, as with Ryan, that can spark a downward spiral. Larkin has served as a Navy SEAL, as a Maryland State Trooper-Flight Paramedic, as a special agent for 21 years in the U.S. Secret Service rising to deputy assistant director and chief technology officer, and for nearly four years as the U.S. Senate Sergeant at Arms. He also served as a senior leader in the Department of Defense's Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Organization, the combat support agency tasked with countering IED's and extremist organizations employing them against U.S. forces, and in senior positions at Raytheon Corp., Lockheed Martin Corp. and SAP National Security Services. He volunteers as a firefighter-paramedic with the Annapolis, Maryland, Fire Department. About the Warrior Call organization: WHO IS WARRIOR CALL: We are a network of former active-duty service members and veterans, their friends and families whose aim is to save lives and curtail suicides among those who served the nation.WHAT WE DO: We spur greater connection. We make calls to warriors -- to veterans and service members who may be isolated and disconnected from services. We steer them to services. We encourage all Americans to make these warrior calls. Together, we save lives. WHY WARRIOR CALL IS ESSENTIAL: Many of those who are suffering are not seeking help or treatment, thus reinforcing the need for a call to these warriors from a former battle buddy, friend or family member. Up to two-thirds of veterans who take their own lives have had no contact with the Department of Veterans Affairs. The COVID pandemic has only increased isolation and disconnection. According to the VA, researchers have identified social isolation as "arguably the strongest and most reliable predictor of suicidal ideation, [suicide] attempts and lethal suicidal behavior." Invisible wounds linked to an underlying and undiagnosed traumatic brain injury can mirror many mental health conditions, underscoring the need to connect with service members and veterans and steer them to services. The rapid unraveling of Afghanistan has spurred anguish and frustration among those who served there. HOW YOU CAN HELP – MAKE A WARRIOR CALL: Whether you are a veteran, active-duty service member, national guard, family member or friend, you can make a difference by connecting with someone who is wearing or who has worn the uniform. Connecting can facilitate honest dialogue, create a desire to stay in contact and help define a viable path forward. Here's what to do: 1) Make a call and connection to a warrior. 2) Have an honest conversation. See how they are doing. 3) Connect them with Vets4Warriors, a clearinghouse for resources. Today, I'm joined by two special guests who are also involved in the movement of living your best life, your way. Jen Smith and Jill Sirianni teach people how to get their debt and personal finances in order and have a fabulous podcast called Frugal Friends. Today, we discuss their personal journeys to financial freedom, and how you can accomplish the same. Just like everything in life, change is not easy, but the cherry pie waiting for you at the end is well worth it. A bit about Jen: I got in touch with my inner frugal when my husband Travis and I paid off $78,000 of debt in less than two years. I've always been frugal but it used to be because I had the mindset that I was broke. It's been a journey to realize that being frugal isn't about necessity but being a better steward of your time and resources. I'm always learning to become a more intentional spender and I like to help bring my friends along with me. Whether it's through my blog, Modern Frugality, through my books: The No-Spend Challenge Guide and Meal Planning on a Budget, and now the Frugal Friends podcast! A bit about Jill: Frugality runs in my veins! For me, this means digging for treasure at thrift stores and spending Saturday mornings at yard sales, but it also means living simply, paying off debt, and having a blast with my husband, Eric. Our most notable frugal decision was that time we decided to live in a motorhome to save on expenses and pay off student loans. We own our own remodeling business, and I am a social worker by day, so I understand the budget struggle! With my DIY skills and frugal knowledge, I hope to help you in your journey, and I look forward to learning with you along the way! Most people today relate weight lifting with body building and looking like the Hulk. Nothing could be further from the truth! What if I was to tell you every able-bodied human should be lifting weights on a regular basis. That is right, you need to be lifting, no matter your sex or age... period. Today, Matt Reynolds of Barbell Logic and I dig into the reasons if you are not incorporating lifting weights/strength training for optimal health, you are doing it wrong. Matt Reynolds is the founder & CEO of Barbell Logic Online Coaching https://barbell-logic.com/ & host of the Barbell Logic podcast. At Barbell Logic our primary focus is on simple, hard, effective strength training to improve quality-of-life. We're not your typical fitness influencer focused on taking pics of ourselves and posting them on IG. Rather, we've forged a culture of “voluntary hardship” among our clients, and we believe this culture has a tremendous refining impact on their lives. Certainly strength training isn't the only way to refine oneself through voluntary hardship, but we do believe it's one of the most general, most efficient, and works well for nearly everyone. Sure, things go bad at times, but working through them is the key. A great way to keep yourself busy, and sharp, both mentally and physically, is to be creative; and what I mean is to create things. Not long ago everyone was a farmer, played a musical instrument, painted, wrote, or drew... where have those times gone? We now blitz ourselves with useless information via the internet, smart phone, and tv, while doing absolutely nothing productive. I'm in the middle of another big creative project, and I want to show you how you can do the same, and cancel our daily noise, with beautiful creativity. I would say 100% yes! I always say: "focus on the things you can change and ignore the rest." But a lot of people today don't know what to truly focus on to make their life simpler and better. Instead of focusing on what is really important in our life, we focus on the periphery that, in most cases, has nothing to do with us. We get sucked into the vortex of more is better, more noise and people complaining, another pair of shoes, another nic-nac, another car we can't afford... it just goes on and on and on. So what is the answer? Today I will dig into how to gain freedom by eliminating the things that are not important. Remember, we are only here for a limited time, so make the best of it. Sounds strange, right? But today, everything is backward, and in order to move forward, you need to reverse your thought process in life. The contrarian is considered the oddball, but that oddball is, in most cases, doing things right. So why not be on oddball? Who cares what people are saying around you? Most of them weigh 250 plus pounds, are flat broke, and miserable. This is a time when following the herd will take you straight off the cliff with them. Because they are blind to the real world, they have no idea the cliff is coming, and because of the way they are living their conformist life, that cliff is inevitable. Simply don't go off the cliff! Clean, great community, great weather, great food. I mean the idyllic location. My parents were not wealthy, but nor were they poor. My father worked all of his life for the same company. My mother was a stay-at-home parent. My parents owned their own home and paid it off. They struggled financially but were able to put me through private school. I was an only child – I guess I didn't have to share their focus with another, so I got lucky. I had always been interested in technology from a young age. I was such an avid learner that I would go to great extremes to seek out things and get involved in clubs, community groups, etc. I rode my bike everywhere – even for hours to the city's center to spend my Sunday afternoons in the public library. Soaking up every bit of knowledge I could get. Strange things that people often didn't pay attention to. But I did. One day I got exposed to CB Radios. This was in the 1970s. I became obsessed (as I often did with things). I learned about electronics, physics, communications, etc. This led me towards computers, and eventually, I bought one of the first personal computers – in 1978, the TRS-80 Model 1 computer. I learned everything about programming that computer, and it became everything to me. As the computer industry evolved, so did I. I started a software company and became one of the few experts in software development in Adelaide – getting gigs to write software for government departments, big corporations, etc., and I was still not even 20 years old. My passion for technology was matched with a business passion, which started well before I discovered technology. I guess business was in my DNA. In 1989, I moved to the United States, settling in Los Angeles. I realized that the ability to migrate from one place to another was a life-changing experience. It taught me to embrace everything I found within my grasp, learning about business in the USA, I got involved in the music industry, and I was able to leverage my computer programming experience to land work in some early startups – one of which became Amgen, the world's largest biotechnology corporation. Although I spent much of the next 30 years living in the USA, I never lost touch with my home of Australia, and in the late 1990s moved back there for many years before returning to the USA. In 2002 I moved to Scottsdale, Arizona, and I've lived here since. I am a self-made business owner. I don't have a job. I do have clients and I do work on software projects and data centers, etc. today. It is because this is what I love to do. It isn't because this is my career. I've never embraced that concept. I think if you are blessed to find your calling early in life and you can turn that into an income earner, you will embrace that far more than a defined “career” that people have to convince themselves that they love to do. I got lucky in that regard. But it was more that at a young age I was passionate to learn things. I still am.

You can never satisfy everyone, so "most" is the closest you are going to get on any subject, let alone gun control. Today, I give you my common-sense solution to the problem that I think most could understand and get behind. I'm tired of insider trading politicians and purple-haired nut jobs telling the rest of us how it should be. Interestingly, the people who have the least experience on the subject seem to scream the loudest. So let's cut the noise and get down to the facts that make sense to the people who actually live in reality. I know a crazy idea these days, but I think it is important, as we will never solve the problem by two sides pushing extreme views on the subject. Topics Discussed: * A little perspective from me having over 4 decades of experience with firearms. * What is the gun debate really about? * Will banning guns lower violence rates? * Why we have a mental illness and family breakdown problem in this country. * Just because you are 18 and the military doesn't mean you have 24 hour access to weapons. * Why those the most responsible for your freedom and safety have by far the most training with firearms. * Would the world end if an 18 year old had to wait a couple years to purchase a few select firearms. * Why 9mm round doesn't blow your lungs out - stupid people say stupid things. * Whether you like it or not the 2nd Amendment protects you against a tyrannical government, just read some history. * Why I believe firearms training for everyone is important. There is no free lunch in this world, especially when it involves the government. Today, we have yet another financial crisis looming: outstanding college loan debt, which is estimated to be in the range of 1.8 trillion. I have a little experience in this area as I have three degrees, which I paid for the most part on my own, and I had this crazy thing called a job while enrolled in classes for all three. In addition, I was a college professor for a while at a private institution. So I have seen and been involved in this debacle from both sides of the fence. Well, at this moment we are experiencing record-high inflation and government debt, which I will tell you is not a good combination. By bailing out people, who lack the ability to think and plan properly, then rack up endless student loan debt is not going to help. Matter of fact, that will pump more funny money into the economy, thus causing more inflation. And you should also ask, why should you be responsible for someone's college loan debt? That is a very important question to ask, I believe. Today, Rob Kendall and I (who also paid his own way through college) discuss what this is all about. Not only that, we give solutions, especially for those who want to go to college, but do it responsibly without racking up life burdening debt. The key is to make the right financial moves, and ignore most of the advice the financial institutions and federal government are telling us, as they do not have your best interests at heart. Rob Kendall is the co-host of the Kendall and Casey Show heard 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM EST on 93.1 WIBC Radio, Indianapolis. Prior to joining WIBC, Rob served as an elected official for the Town of Brownsburg, where he proudly claims massive tax cuts and government reform as his greatest accomplishments. Topics Discussed: * How bad really is the student loan crisis. * How will a bailout of student loans affect you. * Is this just a way to buy votes instead of taking care of the problem? * Why you are the one responsible for your debts not the taxpayer and definitely not the government. * How did the federal government cause college education tuition to skyrocket. * Why everyone does not need to go to college. * Why college should never be free. * How to go to college responsibility and without racking up student loan debt. Today, I bring back to the show oil expert Bill Herrick to bring us up to date on why gas prices are so damn high, and going higher! Bill will also tell us where gas prices are expected to go in the near and not so near future. Is there hope for $2.50 a gallon gas again? What can we do about these high prices, and should you start looking for a really cool ten-speed bike to get your ass to work! Politicians and media pundits have gone from Covid experts to oil experts. Hey, just go out and buy a $60,000 (that is a cheap one) electric car, they say. They are full of a lot of things, but mainly bullsh*t! Today, I do this crazy thing and bring on an actual expert in the oil and gas industry, as in he actually works in it. I know a foreign concept these days. We get to the bottom of the high price of oil and gas today, exploration, production, and dispel all the false information being floated around by people who don't know their head from you know what. Topics Discussed: * Why does gas cost so damn much! * Who is to blame for high gas prices? * Why this administration is making the problem worse instead of better. * Why the midterms elections will not fix this problem. * Where are gas prices going in the near future? * How you should be preparing for increased inflation? * Why inflation numbers are much higher than you think. * Why some parts of country are going to experience brown and black outs this summer. * Why the cost of energy controls many things you do in life. * Why does diesel cost so much more than regular gas today. Today, I will share with you the methods to make better and more informed decisions in life. I guarantee the simplicity in the process will amaze you. I often get asked how in the world I'm able to make difficult decisions to guide my life in the right direction. Trust me, I'm no genius or have super Simple Life powers to help me accomplish this. The most critical element in order to help guide me in my life is gathering and processing information. Most importantly, by not doing it with Google searches or the internet, but with real-life experiences on a daily basis. Want LIVE videos, early access to my podcasts and 100% ad free recordings? A funny look came over his face, and he said you need to share that. He said, “most people just don't think that way”. I had no idea it was a unique way to gather information, so yes, I realized I needed to do an episode on it. I sometimes forget being a former criminal investigator, I look at and gather information differently than most people, well, because it was my job, and I did it for a long time. The best way to put it, is these traits are ingrained in me, and most of the time, I don't even know I'm doing it. Topics Discussed: * Why all the information you need to make better life decisions is right in front of you. * How to get information from people without them even knowing what you are doing. * How everyday life is loaded with information to make your life better, you just need to know where to look. * How to ask the right questions to get the answers you are looking for. * Why you should always have situational awareness. * Where you should not be getting your information from. * How to take this information and apply it to your life. * Why interactions with real people is key. Today, we have some great questions: 1. (Geoff S) Do you have a bug out plan, and if so what do you think are the essential considerations /components? If not, why not? 2. (Kristy P) Do you or any of your friends suffer from tinnitus? If so, how do you cope? (I know this is a common ailment for veterans. Other than white noise, which isn't always feasible, none of the DIY solutions seem to work. I have tried limiting salt/caffeine, supplements, acupuncture, and a hearing aid (for a trial period of 3 months). Therapy is expensive and not covered by insurance.) 3. (Ben L) What are your thoughts on liability waivers for events on private property? Details: Often in the permaculture movement, land owners host workshops that invite people they don't personally know and require visitors to sign waivers. Do you recommend any templates or key points to include in drafting such a document, assuming you'd want a final review/edit by a legal professional? Over the years working with clients and athletes one on one, I have dealt with the question "how do I add muscle while on the Paleo Diet" numerous times. A listener of the show recently sent me this exact same question for the Ask Gary Anything segments, and I realized I hadn't addressed this ever in The Simple Life with Gary Collins Podcast. So I decided to dedicate an entire episode to this question, as it is a common one when people dig into the Paleo diet and dial in their eating habits and the Paleo lifestyle. To my women listeners, don't think this doesn't apply to you, as it does, but you will have to listen to the episode to understand why. Once I explain the reason(s), I guarantee there will be a "lightbulb" moment for most. Topics Discussed: A quick recap - what is the Paleo Diet? Why it is so dang hard gaining weight on the Paleo Diet. Why our bodies are much wiser than we think they are.Why building muscle is important for women just not men.Why sometimes you have to trick your body to get it to do what you want.A brief discussion on the 1st leg of the Three-Legged Stool of The Simple Life. Why resistance training is so important. Why lifting weights is for men and women. Why building muscle when you are a women doesn't mean turning into the Hulk. I have said on many occasions that no matter what the real estate and financial talking heads are saying, there is a housing market bubble, and it will be the worst we have ever seen. Another transfer of wealth from hardworking Americans to the morally corrupt political and financial institutions is imminent. Want LIVE videos, early access to my podcasts and 100% ad free recordings? Only $4.99/mo! Become A Member Join Now – INstant access! https://vimeo.com/710122840 So what can we do about it? I have lived through three boom/bust housing markets, and the best way to avoid getting caught in the crash is to recognize the signs. Blindly following what the real estate and financial institutions are telling is a sure way to lose a lot of money in a hot market. I have learned never to chase a hot market, and sell when it is hot, not when it is not. I have heard the same thing in all three hot markets I have lived through... "this one is different." No, they are not, now, some of the circumstances causing the hot market and subsequent bust may be different, but the cycle is always the same... there are a whole bunch of losers and a very small amount of winners. So how do you avoid this housing bubble trap? Well, Rob Kendall and I dig into the facts and let you know what your moves should be, and what to expect in the near future. For those who don't know, I have been in real estate for 25 years, so I just don't spout about this as some controversial subject. I have been there; I have lost some, but won much more than the average Joe. I hope this educates people so they can avoid being fleeced by the corrupt financial institutions and housing market in general. The second leg in The Three-Legged Stool of The Simple Life is Financial Freedom. The key to Financial Freedom is not following the herd to indentured servitude of lifelong debt. Today Rob Kendall and I discuss, the storm that is coming in the housing market and a future recession. We both firmly believe they are unavoidable, the debt is due and someone is going to have to pay for it! Topics Discussed: * Why, when the financial and real estate institutions tell you “this one is different” get ready to hold on to your wallet! * How this “housing bubble” has been forming even prior to Covid. * Why we are in a bubble that has far worse factors involved than the housing bubble of 2008/2009. * Why you should never buy anything on credit based upon the monthly payment. * Why the rental market is going to explode in the near future. * Why and how Rob bought a home now in an overly inflated housing market. * Why most Americans lose, and lose big in the housing market. * How this shortage of supply in the housing market was artificially created. * How property taxes really work, and trust me it is not in your favor. * Why you should not even be thinking about buying into this current housing market at this time. * How to buy a house right, and actually make money. Today, we have some great questions: 1. (John S) Last year, my employer imposed the vax mandate for all employees unless either a medical or religious exemption were granted. This didn't sit well with me, and I refused not only the vax but also to submit to any exemption request. As the initial deadline (Dec 8th) approached, we were told that employees that refused the vax without an exemption would be considered "self-terminated". The deadline was then shifted to early 2021 as the mandate was challenged in the courts (not by me...just what you may have heard through news/media). Finally, in early 2021, my employer "suspended" the mandate for employees. I subsequently filed an ethics compliant ("anonymously") against the CEO of my company, although I don't expect anything to happen as a result. I've been working in my chosen career field for almost 35 years. When I was told that I would be "self-terminated", my wife and I began to consider "retirement" and proceeded to look for some acreage in another state where we would prefer to live. By the time the mandate was lifted, we were enjoying some weekend travel to see properties that caught our interest. So, our search for property continued even after the mandate was lifted, and we are now under contract to purchase a place we think we'd like to live in retirement. So, we're now planning to move to our soon-to-be new home. I think I'd like to continue to work from home, albeit in a different state, but on the other hand, I'm not happy about what happened with the vax mandate and threat of "self-termination". Like many folks, my work has been performed mostly remotely (at home) since early 2020, but my job assignment supports a certain facility/location, which does require occasional on-site presence. Needless to say, my motivation to work is significantly reduced, and I'm finding it difficult to stay productive and engaged on the job. I have not yet discussed this with my employer. My question for you is "Should I even have a discussion with my employer about working remotely from new home?"...or "Should I just leave and find something else to do with my life?" I could go either way, but my wife would prefer it if I could somehow keep my job for the near term. 2. (Greg M) What is your recommendation to give water more taste? Im trying to get away from chemical mixes like crystal light and diet soda. What do you suggest? 3. (William) How do I get my wife to go to paleo diet? She's Allergic to everything. So what does the economy look like in the near future for us working class citizens who have to actually work and pay for things with our hard earned money? Have you ever heard the economy works in cycles? Well, it is true, there are good times and bad times; well, it is part of the economic cycle. If you pay attention and are prepared, in most cases you can weather a downturn, even a nasty one, in the economy. In some cases, you can even grow your wealth. The problem is most Americans do not pay attention, we definitely know our politicians don't and spend our tax dollars like drunken sailors. Does that mean we should all do the same? Today, I have a very special guest, Rob Kendall of the highly successful Rob and Casey Show on WIBC 93.1 FM in Indiana. Since the most recent polls show the popularity of Donald Trump not waving as the favorite to represent the Republican Party for President in 2024, is he good or bad for the country? Do we have any rational choices beyond Trump or are we stuck with him? Can someone rise up against the noise in the next two-and-a-half years and truly represent the most prominent political demographic in the U.S., us in the middle? Today I continue the discussion of the sociopaths amongst us. Make sure to go back to episode 156 to understand how to recognize them. This episode will focus on how the deal with them after you have been caught in their snare. You will not avoid them in today's society, so it is essential you put together a "sociopath survival" plan, and that is what we are going to do today. Topics Covered: Realizing you will not avoid them, some people just don't have a conscious. Why you should never engage them? They cannot and do not want to be saved; do not try to do so. Today, we have some great questions: 1. (Matt K) I am a firefighter/paramedic with fifteen years experience in the field and I am seriously considering a career change. Due to work related health concerns like PTSD, anxiety, depression and insomnia, I no longer feel like my career is a healthy fit for me and my family. I still love my job, but I just don't think I can do it anymore. The idea of changing careers really intimidates me. All my formal education and work experience is in emergency services. I like the idea of owning my own business and having some flexibility and control to make a living on my own terms. That being said,I don't know where to go or what my first steps should be. For context, I am thirty seven years old, healthy, debt free, married and I have a child. My interests include writing, yoga, meditation, fitness, hiking, rock climbing, gardening and studying history. Any thoughts on my situation? Should I suck it up and stick with the safe option, or branch out and try something new? 2. (Kristy P) Where in the US would you suggest someone who lives on the east coast and has never been west of the Mississippi go for a vacation? 3. (Susie B) Do you ever go to a doctor for checkup's? If not, why? And lastly, any advice on how to undo the brainwashing of the people who truly can't see what is going on or the health issues they're experiencing are from the jabbadabado? Is there hope? We may often think that most sociopaths/psychopaths are violent criminals and serving long prisons. If we may say, put away for a long time to shield society from their evils. What if I was to tell you, not only is that not what is happening, but most sociopaths are roaming free in society. Matter of fact, the odds of you avoiding one is nearly impossible. In today's episode, I go over the personality traits that put a person into the sociopath category. I will teach you how to identify and ultimately how to avoid the everyday sociopath, as they could be your colleague, your neighbor, or even a loved one. Topics Covered: * What is the difference between a sociopath and psychopath * A sociopath is defined when they have 3 of these 7 characteristics by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders: 1. Failure to conform to social norms. 2. Deceitfulness and manipulativeness. 3. Impulsivity, failure to plan ahead. 4. Irritability and aggressiveness. 5. Reckless disregard for the safety of self and others. 6. Consistent irresponsibility. 7. Lack of remorse after hurting, mistreating, or stolen from another person. * You may be surprised where most sociopaths are not. In my continued pursuit of helping others and presenting the truth, I'm proud to announce the launch of my new podcast with Judah Friedman of The World According to Ben Stein and Rob Kendall of WIBC 93.1 FM in Indiana called: The Right Dudes. It is a play on words, as this will not be a political podcast, but one covering all the things we all wonder about and, shall I say, worry about in this crazy world today. The key is we do it with humor; there is enough "red ass" today, so we will be doing it a bit differently. In this episode, Judah and I dig into the numerous topics we will be covering in The Right Dudes Podcast. We cover a lot of ground, so make sure to listen to it all the way through, as I think this will give some great insight into what we will cover in this new podcast. (Kristy P) Any advice for planning/trying to budget in this current economic environment? For instance, gas is going up 10 cents a day and it's hard to know how much groceries will cost (or what groceries will be available when you go shopping). I have no consumer debt other than my mortgage--which I'm trying to pay off by the end of this year. I'm using TSL journal and am on step 2 (financial independence). 3. Today, I have a great friend and fighter for individual freedom, Mr. Ben Stein. I wanted to mix it up a little bit and record a short QA with someone who is an expert in the topic I'm covering. You know me never groundhog day, and I will be doing more of these in the future. Yes, it is a shorty, but jam-packed with valuable information on inflation and personal finances. I don't just cover this to fill space; shoring up and running your finances like a pro is a huge part of living the life you want. Ben Stein is the most famous economics teacher in America. His comedic role as the droning economics teacher in "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" is by far the most widely viewed scene of economics teaching in economics history and has been ranked as one of the fifty most famous scenes in movie history. But in real life, Ben Stein is a powerful speaker on economics, politics, education and history and motivation--and like his father, Herbert Stein, considered one of the great humorists on political economy and how life works in this nation. Stein in real life has a bachelor's with honors in economics from Columbia, studied econ at the graduate level at Yale, is a graduate of Yale Law School ( valedictorian of his class by election of his classmates in 1970), and has as diverse a resume as any man in America. Much more important, Ben Stein is morally committed to making your meeting a success and bringing his extensive background to bring out the most powerful and funniest trends in current history. That background includes...poverty lawyer for poor people in New Haven, trade regulation lawyer for the FTC, speech writer for Presidents Nixon and Ford. ( He did NOT write the line, "I am not a crook...."), columnist and editorial writer for The Wall Street Journal, teacher about law and economics at UC, Santa Cruz ( undergrads ) and Pepperdine( law school and undergrads). He has written or co-written roughly 30 books, mostly about investing, with his brilliant colleague, Phil DeMuth, many of them New York Times bestsellers. His and Dr. DeMuth's book, "Yes, You Can Time The Market" has become a landmark of using price theory for securities market analysis. He wrote a column about economics for The New York Times for several years, roughly 2004-2009. He was the co-host, along with Jimmy Kimmel, of the pathbreaking Comedy Central game show, "Win Ben Stein's Money," which won seven Emmies, including ones for Ben and Jimmy for best game show host. ( Surely making him the only well known economist to win an Emmy....). Presently, he writes a column for The American Spectator and for NewsMax, and is a regular commentator on Fox News and on CBS Sunday Morning, as well as a frequent commentator on CNN. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife of 45 years, Alexandra, two dogs and six cats. He loves people and loves to meet new people and hang out with them. He's a party guy, albeit an extremely serious economist and a decades long critic of excessively loose fiscal policy and unhelpful regulation in finance. This is just a dummy episoToday, we are hearing a lot about what is causing sky-high oil and gas prices; Putin, Covid, your cat... but what is really the truth? Politicians and media pundits have gone from Covid experts to oil experts. Hey, just go out and buy a $60,000 electric car, they say. They are full of a lot of things, but mainly bullsh*t! Today, I do this crazy thing and bring on an actual expert in the oil and gas industry, as in he actually works in it. I know a foreign concept these days. Today, I have a very special guest, and fighter for freedom Grammy nominated musician John Ondrasik. John recently wrote and recorded a video for his smash hit "Blood on My Hands" highlighting the travesty still playing out in Afghanistan. John isn't a political hack, or ultra-woke celebrity; he is a rational thinking human who loves his country. We dig deep into his song "Blood on My Hands," which was originally banned on YouTube, and then from pressure from his fans and some 1st Amendment supporting politicians, it was re-instated. We also discuss how we have hope that there is still some fight left in this country, and we just need to keep fighting the good fight. We dig into what keeps him motivated, how his music career didn't take off until much later in life, and why he has a Mathematics degree from UCLA. I promise you this is a great interview, and you will leave inspired and motivated by John. About John Ondrasik: The only way for a story to progress is to turn the page. John Ondrasik— the songwriter and performer known as the platinum-selling, Grammy-nominated, Five For Fighting—knows this well. In the two decades since his first major single, “Superman (It's Not Easy),” hit the stratosphere, the artist has both evolved and come back ‘round full circle. Creativity, if nothing else, is paradoxical. To date, Five For Fighting, has released six studio LPs, including the platinum certified America Town and The Battle for Everything; and the top-10 charting Two Lights, along with an EP and live albums. Ondrasik has penned major hits, including the chart-topping “100 Years,” “The Riddle,” “Chances,” “World,” and “Easy Tonight,” which have earned tens of millions of streams and place him as a top-10 Hot Adult Contemporary artist for the 2000s. The reflective “100 Years” has joined “Superman (It's Not Easy)“ as part of the American Songbook and continues to stand the test of time at weddings, birthdays, graduations, memorials, and many a home video. Five For Fighting's music has also been featured in more than 350 films, television shows, and commercials, including the Oscar-winning The Blind Side, Hawaii Five-O, The Sopranos and the CBS drama, Code Black. Referencing Fight For Fighting's success in the 2000s, AllMusic called Ondrasik “one of the decade's leading balladeers.” But perhaps his biggest achievement is performing “Superman (It's Not Easy),” at the 2001 Concert for New York, a benefit show at Madison Square Garden that honored first responders and the fallen about a month after the tragic September 11th attacks. Ondrasik performed alongside other big-name artists like Paul McCartney, The Who, Elton John, Billy Joel, and dozens more. Says Ondrasik, “It was a surreal experience. I was honored and blessed to pay tribute to the heroes who ran into those buildings at ground zero, and hopefully, through a song, provide a little solace to family members who'd lost loved ones.” Now, though, what once was a dream is a reality. Buoyed by his unique falsetto voice and his prowess on the piano—a skill bestowed to him by his piano teacher mother—Ondrasik has made a solid reputation for himself in the world of songwriting and performance, selling upwards of three million albums over his career. Not only does he tour with his popular string quartet and play solo and rock band gigs, but he is also a high demand keynote speaker in which he combines themes of creativity and innovation with his business acumen. Along with his father, he has managed the family business throughout his musical career. As Ondrasik happily puts it, his company, Precision Wire Products, “makes the best shopping cart in the world!” He's presented at TEDx, The Salk Institute, American Cancer Society, and dozens more. Perhaps being the son of an astrophysicist dad and having a degree in mathematics from UCLA has something to do with it. “Math was the Plan-B to get a real job when the mus...
Today, Myles Wakem and I dig into the battle Australia continues to wage against China's willing economic takeover. Then we move on to how this is the blueprint for China to take over the West, and guess what? They are pretty far along in this process. But we just don't give you all doom and gloom--we dig into how all this happened and what you can do about it. We all need to understand we control this ship; we just have to realize it and change our ways. Burying your head the sand sounds good, but things are moving way too fast for you to do so. So let's get this figured out and make a stand for freedom. The other option is to do nothing and die under the boot of tyranny, and I'm just not up for that! About Myles in his own words: I was born and raised in Adelaide, Australia. Adelaide was a wonderful place. I still am. I just can't learn them in a classroom, or a lecture hall, or books. I have to go out and see things with my own eyes and touch things with my own ha...

Today a great many of us are dealing with different types of stress that we may not have been prepared for. Let's be honest, who could have seen the craziness of the last two years unfolding the way it has. With that, we may be suffering from, or on the road to burnout and not even know it. That is where Dr. Sharon Grossman and her book The 7E Solution to Burnout comes in. We dig deep into the seven things to analyze and incorporate, to not only deal with burnout, but to stop it before it even happens. Even if you are not dealing with burnout, I highly recommend you listen to this episode, as we get into many different aspects of human nature and how to be a better human as well. Dr. Grossman is a qualified Success Coach, Clinical Psychologist, author, speaker, wife and mother of two. More about Dr. Grossman in her own words: For the past two decades, I have worked on improving the health and well-being of high achievers who so often sacrifice their self-care as a result of work demands and get caught up with everyone else's expectations that they end up burning out at alarming rates. So when I started to experience overwhelm and burnout, the irony of the situation was not lost on me. I, too, am a high achiever, so I naturally have never-ending to-do lists. My brain is always coming up with more ideas. I would have too much on my mind, no direction, and would focus on unimportant items while forgetting about more important ones. It would feel like there is never enough time to do everything I want to do and I would end up feeling stressed. Coaching taught me systems around organization, planning, and time management. Now, I am super clear about what I need to get done each week, I plan for it and I stick to my plans. As a result of my optimized performance and mindset practices, I get more done in less time, have replaced overwhelm with accomplishment, and most importantly - empower my clients to reach their potential. Through the integration of psychology and mindfulness, I've created a comprehensive and transformative program that teaches stressed-out high achievers how to effectively navigate their work and personal life so they can thrive. I love that my work inspires them to think BIGGER, feel more grounded, and handle challenging situations with ease. Dr. Sharon Grossman is the author of The 7E Solution to Burnout and an Emotional Intelligence expert. She holds a doctorate degree in Psychology, has extensive training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and 20 years of experience helping her clients take back control of their lives. The organization advocates for the right to keep and bear arms, and promotes responsible ownership of firearms within African-American and urban communities. He has released three rap/hip hop recordings: Solutionary Vol. 1 (2005), Solutionary Vol. 2 (2014), and Solutionary Vol. 3 (2016). Toure was a candidate for an at-large seat in the Philadelphia City Council in the city's 2019 election. He ran as a Libertarian. Toure spoke at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in February 2019. In a dialogue with Lawrence B. In this ground breaking episode The Sane Virologist and I, dig into the death rate numbers and data surrounding these numbers. Would it surprise you they just don't add up. There is a lot of funny business going on and we the data and numbers, but we get to the bottom of the BS, and you will probably be surprised… we have been being lied to - big time! After two years of living in a Corona Virus world, things just seem to get stranger and stranger. At the risk of getting canceled and bombarded from all angles, I have decided I have had enough, and I'm not alone. Slowly our individual rights are being eroded by a virus that has now become political ammo to do so. With that I found a Virologist who was willing to tell the truth, yes I have had to hide her identity, because woke people, cancel culture, and our government is off the rails, but I feel these are some of the best and most informative podcast episodes out there today. ow did we get here? What does the data actually say? If you ask these simple questions, you are a virus, vaccine, and science denier. If you don't follow what appears to be a completely incompetent government hell-bent on tyranny, you have become the enemy. How did asking questions that are rational and well thought out make you an enemy of your own government? If you attempt to ask questions or provide data to the contrary of "the science" you will be instantly de-platformed in many cases on social media and at the very least have that content taken down. Does that sound like what the founding fathers intended when they wrote the 1st Amendment... I don't think so. What makes this country great, is that we can express our opinions and have a rational debate. Covid appears to be ending that, and that is a very disturbing place to be. Today, I'm bringing back on a microbiologist/virologist, who has some of the most impressive bonafides on the subject of Covid. There is no agenda, no Youtube channel to promote, and no books to sell, just an honest interpretation of the data by a true professional in the field. I did all the research and had many conversations with "Sane Virologist X" so rest assured this is the real deal. Topics Discussed: How my cursory research showed there is a problem with the Covid Death Rate numbersDigging deeper - The Sane Virologist finds massive irregularities in the numbersHow the John Hopkins study shows that government mandates had almost zero effect on saving any lives from covidHow people in Canada (Trucker Convoy) are leading the way in North America and saying enough while America idly watchesWhat the CDC information really saysWhy the data as it relates to Covid is greatly flawedWhat ever happened to the flu and colds in the dataAre you at more risk of dying or becoming greatly ill from the vaccinations or just getting CovidAre they (governments) trying to hide information on purposeWhy are therapeutics hardly talked aboutWhy is the government making it hard to get therapeutics Why you should think twice about pointing your finger at someone and telling them they must get vaccinatedWhat the numbers say about how many people have died from getting vaccinatedHow two states skewed the death rate number in 2020How other illnesses have increased and caused greater death numbers than actual CovidWhy you need to worry about you and not about telling others what to do when it comes to CovidWhy the number one deterrent for catching Covid is being healthyWhy it is criminal to vaccinate small children when they have an almost zero chance of dying from Covid Episode References: Dr Ryan Cole, interview re increases in cancer : https://www.theepochtimes.com/dr-ryan-cole-alarming-cancer-trend-suggests-covid-19-vaccines-alter-natural-immune-response_4250442.html?utm_source=ATLNewsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=2021-02-19Fohse, et al The BNT162b2 mRNA vaccine against SARS-CoV-2 reprograms both the adaptive ...

Welcome to another episode of "Ask Gary Anything." This is where you, the audience, get to send in your questions about anything, and I will answer them. That is right, you heard it... anything, Have you always wanted to get into real estate investing, but just don't know how or where to start? Well, today, I have a fellow soldier of freedom and living the life you want, Myles Wakem. Myles and I have been investing in real estate for decades and have learned many lessons during that time. Today, we share with you some of those lessons and how anyone can get started in real estate investing and be successful if they exercise patience and realize it is not a get-rich-quick scheme. As always, we dip into numerous other subjects relating to the economy, government abuse of power, and how taxation is actually theft. About Myles in his own words: I was born and raised in Adelaide, Australia. Adelaide was a wonderful place. I still am.
