There's a hidden story in the Tarot—one we don't often speak of.It's the story of the Four Queens—Wands, Cups, Swords, and Pentacles—and what happened when they turned on each other. This message is a mythic remembrance of the fall of the ancient temples—Atlantis, Babylon, the priestesshoods—and how that collapse is mirrored in our inner lives today. When the Queens are no longer in sacred communion, the feminine grid of creation fractures, and with it, our sense of sovereignty, abundance, and trust in sisterhood.
In this episode, queer transformation coach Christiano Green shares an intimate story about coming out and the long-lasting impact of a single sentence: “Life will be harder for you now.”For almost 20 years, Christiano carried that belief—until he discovered that queerness doesn't have to equal pain. It just means our path is different… not worse.Listen as Christiano explores:The emotional weight of coming outHow internalised beliefs shape our livesWhy comparison keeps us stuckAnd how queer people can reclaim their power and rewrite their storiesThis is a must-listen for any queer person navigating identity, healing, or self-worth.

Wait, did I just explain classroom management to the King?! Yep. That happened. In this episode, I'm giving you a front seat to one of the most bizarre, surreal, and pinch-me experiences of my life — being invited to Buckingham Palace and getting to literally talk to King Charles about what we do as educators. But more importantly, I want to unpack why it was so powerful. Not because it was fancy or royal or Insta-worthy (though…yes, yes it was). But because what I shared with him? It wasn't shiny. It wasn't new. It wasn't revolutionary. It was real. The simple, human-first, practical work we do in our classrooms every day — the stuff that doesn't come with buzzwords or fancy acronyms — THAT is what got me standing in front of the actual King. And I want to tell you why that matters. Because this episode is for you.If you've ever doubted whether your small routines make a difference… If you've ever wondered whether this values-led way of teaching is actually working… If you've ever felt like what you're doing is “just good teaching” and not enough to be noticed…Let me tell you: It's radical. It's rare. And it's working. So, shall we roll the tape? What You'll Learn:The wild story of how I got invited to Buckingham Palace
In this powerful, raw, and deeply honest episode of Sunday Night Teacher Talk, I sit down with one of my teacher heroes—Rafe Esquith, legendary educator and founder of The Hobart Shakespeareans. Rafe opens up about how he went from struggling in the classroom to building one of the most extraordinary programs in public education history. We talk about:The power of slow growth in teachingWhy student buy-in takes time—and patienceHow to build classroom culture that changes livesWhy some of the best teaching comes from anger at injusticeThe importance of empathy, joy, and real-world purpose in educationAnd why “there are no shortcuts” is more than a classroom rule—it's a way of lifeYou'll also hear about Rafe's personal relationship with Sir Ian McKellen, how he avoided burnout for over 35 years, and why “being the person you want your students to become” is the most essential rule of all.Whether you're a first-year teacher or a seasoned educator, this episode is a masterclass in heart, honesty, and what it really takes to transform students' lives—especially when the world underestimates them. The Odyssey Home-End-Of-Year Classroom Experience: https://www.shopteachyourclassoff.com/products/the-odyssey-home-end-of-year-classroom-experience
“He was interviewed nine times. Survivors named him. And still, he kept killing.”This week on The Guilty Files: ReVisited, Brian and Dani return to one of the most infamous failures in criminal investigation history—the Yorkshire Ripper case. But this isn't a retelling. It's a reckoning. From the fog-soaked streets of 1970s Yorkshire to the modern courtroom of public opinion, this co-hosted episode pulls no punches.Brian dissects the procedural breakdowns, institutional ego, and flawed profiling that allowed Peter Sutcliffe to evade capture—even after survivors identified him by name. Dani peels back the psychological and sociological layers, asking how cultural bias, gendered assumptions, and classism created the perfect storm for a serial predator to hide in plain sight.Along the way, the hosts share their own frontline story—recalling a moment from their careers in Atlanta when a citywide riot left them without leadership or support. The eerie parallels to the command breakdowns in the Ripper investigation? Unmistakable.Inside this episode:How missed leads and media distractions cost livesWhy survivors were ignored—and what that says about who we listen toWhat we still get wrong about “monsters”And how trauma doesn't end with an arrest—it evolves across generationsThis is more than a case file. It's a confrontation with complicity. And just when you think it's over—Brian and Dani ask the ultimate question: What systems are we still clinging to today that we'll one day look back on in shame?

Did you know forgiveness has power beyond what you may think? I mean real power. Scientifically over 92.3% of all sickness and disease can be traced back to a lack of forgiveness somewhere in our lives. Forgiveness also dictates the level of understanding and acceptance people have towards us in our lives.Still, have doubts this power could be relevant to your life? How about your careers and the things you've done in your past that people haven't been able to let go of or forgive and forget? Have you ever considered what it has cost you to have that baggage held over your head? What are your thoughts on starting off on a clean slate starting tomorrow? On having regrets and mistakes be forgiven and erased? What might your life look like then? The problem is everyone talks about how important it is to forgive yourself and others, but nobody has actually given us the way to fully let things go and be in true forgiveness until now. Join us for this life-changing episode in which Source teaches us the real formula to achieve forgiveness. Ruth asks: Am I doing a disservice to those in early and long-term recovery when I talk about the foods that I have learned to eat in moderation? While we never do a disservice to others by sharing our truths, it is important to remember that everyone is at different stages of their recovery journey, Everyone's journey is unique, and while sharing experiences is invaluable, it must be done with the listener's well-being in mind.Listening to Ruth recount her battles with emotional eating, overindulgence, and codependency really underscored the importance of finding a balanced relationship with food because, at the end of the day, the choices we make about what we consume can shape our emotions, thoughts, and actions.Want to find out more about the Food Reset program with Recovery 2.0? As an athlete growing up, he struggled with identity issues like so many of us do in sports. As a college football player, he suffered a serious injury that changed the course of his experience in college. Now as a pastor, he leads a congregation of believers close to Louisville, Kentucky, and has a passion for filmmaking. So much so that he directs Christian movies that thousands, if not millions of people have seen, as a way of sharing the Gospel as part of their church outreach. Today we talk with Tyler Sansom, lead pastor for First Capital Christian Church/Church Anywhere and a filmmaker for First Capital Films. As a former collegiate football player, he brings a great perspective on showing Christ through athletics and not letting sports overtake your identity. It's a broad claim, but if I'm more clear on what is going on now that I've done it, I can guarantee you will be if you listen. Dr Kirstey Holland is a Melbourne, Australia-based doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine who holds a double degree in acupuncture and herbal medicine. She is a practitioner of environmental and nutritional medicine, functional medicine and naturopathy. Her approach to perimenopause is grounded in ancient wisdom, and is personalized for every woman to suit our own unique needs – because we are all different. And she caught my eye on Instagram because not only is she calm, knowledgeable and relatable, she appears to know more about the totality of perimenopause than most of the other doctors on social media. In this podcast, Dr Holland gets at the heart of what is going on with women struggling through this transition with one of the best explanations of what's happening internally – and how that plays out in our external world – that I've ever heard. She explains how this process intersects with the body's own detoxification process and how we can step up to help, easing our symptoms, reducing inflammation and exposure to future diseases in the process. When you listen to Dr Holland, it becomes clear that in order to experience vitality during this time of transition, it's essential that we focus on nourishing our brain, gut, adrenals and thyroid. She also talks about everything you need to consider if you are considering hormone therapy, which she is not only taking, but is skilled at prescribing in a tailored and holistic manner. Highlights:The intersection of trauma and perimenopauseWhat is actually happening in our bodies – and how that plays out in our livesWhy cleaning up what we consume is so important at this junctureWhy we need to be careful about alcoholThe vital role of gut healthWhy and how she tests people in perimenopause The essential role of our detox pathwaysWhy we need to “restump the house”Why do so many doctors seem to have orthorexia? Her magic, super-simple nutritional formulaWhy we need to remind ourselves of hunter-gatherersHow she found her voiceWhere to find Dr Holland: Web: Thehollandclinic.comIG: @thehollandclinicJoin the Hotflash Inc perimenoposse: Web: hotflashinc.comTikTok: @hotflashincInstagram: @hotflashincTwitter: @hotflashinc Episode website: Hotflashinc See hotflashinc.com/privacy-policy for privacy information

The term “gaslighting” has become a buzzword in recent years and, because of its widespread use, the meaning of this term has become a bit murky. In a nutshell, gaslighting is when you are experiencing something and endeavoring to talk to the other person about it, but they flip it around on you so that you wind up questioning yourself, your own character, motivations, and even grip on reality. Today, I want to talk about what I call “gaslighting lite” or the ways that understanding the gaslight effect can help you navigate when gaslighting behaviors show up in your otherwise healthy relationship. In this episode, you'll learn:Common areas in which many, many people gaslight our partners or other people in our livesWhy gaslighting shows up in otherwise healthy relationships How you may be unconsciously participating in this patternHow you can extricate yourself from this painful cycle, whichever side of it you are on and turn past gaslighting lite into relationship goldAnd more. Join the conversation by listening, then share your story or response on our voicemail at 206-659-9865 or inside our free Conscious Couples' Circle on Mighty Networks.“Subconscious parts of us react in a knee-jerk fashion that might be out of character for us, might almost be like a different person's behavior, and that subconscious part does that in order to protect the blind spot.”-Michele Lisenbury ChristensenHot Moments in This Episode:How I've participated in “gaslighting lite” and how I intervened [13:48]The way you or your partner is acting like a 15-year-old [16:28]What can happen when you start calling out these behaviors [17:52]I hope that this episode gives you a starting place to begin to unravel this gaslighting lite cycle and illuminate the blind spots that will turn into areas of new life for you and your partner.RESOURCES OR LINKS MENTIONED IN THIS EPISODE:We Can Do Hard Things Podcast: Are You Being Gaslighted? The Gaslight Effect by Dr. Robin SternThe Gaslight Effect Recovery Guide by Dr. Robin SternWhat is DARVO? by Dr. Jennifer J. When was the last time you felt let down in your business? Think about the situations and efforts surrounding that disappointment. Ask yourself:-Were you showing up as best as you could for that offer?-Did you do everything you possibly could to market yourself? So then WHY, if you truly believe in your heart of hearts, that you did everything you possibly could for a successful launch, do you feel like you failed? This idea of consistency HAS to equal high returning efforts is a notion that we see in varied areas of our life. From business to health/wellness, we have had this ideology drilled into our brains that if you work hard enough, the results will ALWAYS come. And that just isn't always the case. For today's episode, I invited one of my clients, Victoria Yates, to the podcast to discuss just that. We will talk about the similarities between business and health, self trust, consistency, and more.Learn about Victoria:Victoria is a health coach who helps clients make peace with their bodies and food, and pursue health goals with a more intuitive and sustainable approach. “We have to accept reality, take responsibility for our emotions, and you will suffer way less when you stop blaming everybody else for everything, and you'll understand the power of your mind.” - Maureen KafkisWhat if we told you we have the solution to all your pain and suffering? Your first thought may be, there is no one solution to ALL suffering, or that this is impossible. However, the solution is quite simple, but without awareness, we create blind spots for ourselves, which is why we continue to suffer. The solution is, living consciously aware of your ego and how it manifests in your day to day life and your thoughts. The thoughts that infiltrate the mind, that have been placed there as a protection mechanism, are the cause of most human suffering. Most of the thoughts we think in a day have nothing to do with reality, but are just a perception created to protect our egos. So what happens when you can see your thought pattern as an outsider looking in, could you find how you have been filtering your reality in a way that has created suffering for you? This question requires a lot of contemplation, but what we can safely say is that it probably has. The ‘how' is up to you to find out. The ego gets a bad rep but it's not all bad, the difference is just our awareness of it. The ego helps us in many ways, but can cause great suffering if we choose to stay in the dark. What we want to help you uncover in today's episode is that the ego can be used as a tool to help evolve and propel yourself forward to become a better version of yourself. To help unpack the ego, we have invited Maureen Kafkis. Maureen is a life coach whose focus is to help others live consciously, and she joins us to discuss how our subconscious thought patterns manifest in our lives, where they come from, and how we can become aware of them to change our reality.Tune in to hear more about how you can change your thoughts and be on your way to harnessing your ego for your benefit!Topics discussed in this episode:Why Maureen picked ego as a topic for today's episodeA thought filter Maureen created for herself at a young ageHow Eckhart Tolle changed Maureen's lifeWhat triggered Maureen's sense of awarenessHow thought filters lead to egoHow the ego manifests in our livesWhy the ego has a bad repWhere the ego comes fromHow brain filters aren't so bad and cannot be avoidedWhat does it mean to live consciouslyHow to use the ego to improve ourselvesHead to Apple Podcasts to listen to Maureen's podcast, ‘The Brain BS Podcast', to learn more on how you can learn how to live consciously! To learn more about character building qualities to become your true self, visit our website here!Head to Apple Podcasts to hear more episodes.Connect with Java:FacebookEmailInstagramLinkedInTwitter

Do you know your "type?" I discovered the Enneagram several years ago and was curious about how each Enneagram type processes grief. In this week's episode, my beautiful guest, Sarah Wallace, shares some insights into each Enneagram type in general, and how each type might express grief. We talked about:Why Sarah chose to incorporate the Enneagram into her workWhy mindset alone isn't enough to change or heal something in our livesWhy it's important to understand that not everyone sees the world the way you doWhat is the Enneagram - and why is it different from other personality type tools? What the Enneagram can reveal about usWhat the 9 Enneagram types representDoes our “type” change over the course of our lives? What your core motive reveals - and the role it plays when we experience deep trauma or lossHow the traits of another type may play out when we're in grief or experience traumaSarah's recommendation on how to find your Enneagram typeHow knowing your Enneagram type can help you filter out what's helpful and what's not helpful at various points in your lifeSarah's description of each type, the shadow side of each type, and how it might look for each type to process trauma and grief (*this is GOLD*)Which type most women initially identify with - but this isn't necessarily their true typeMy intuitive insights into each typeSarah and I could have talked for hours about this fascinating topic! What's the one thing you know to be true, but you've spent a whole life trying to prove it's not?For me, when I am in a room, I can easily slip into the role of the rock. I tend to be an over-giver in everything I do. Usually, I give out of the goodness of my heart, but occasionally I over-give to keep from being vulnerable, which as an 8 is my biggest fear. But hiding behind our fears keeps real intimacy and real growth at arm's length. So, what's your biggest fear? Usually, your biggest fear is tied to the thing your Enneagram type desires most. On this episode of The Leadership Formula, I walk you through the biggest fears of each of the Enneagram types, offering examples of how each type sabotages its growth by running from what they know to be true. I'll walk you through why 1s fear of being wrong could be what's blocking their biggest blessings, and what change 7s need to make that will bring them closer to their dreams. Out of all the Enneagram types, 9s seem to be the most forgotten. This is because of their easygoing nature and reluctance to make waves. Their main motivators are to create harmony both internally and in their surrounding environments. They may not be ones to speak up too often, but in my opinion, they are the wisest on the Enneagram. On this episode of the Leadership Formula, I am wrapping up our masterclass on each Enneagram type's instinctual subtypes by focusing on the last in line, the 9s. I discuss the nuances of the 9 as a whole, as well as the ins and outs of each subtype. Listen in to learn more about why self-preservation 9s are the most resistant to opening up, why one-on-one 9s often struggle with co-dependency, and why social 9s often hide their pain from others while still harboring a need to be included.
