On today's episode of the Occult Symbolism and Pop Culture with Isaac Weishaupt podcast we start a deep dive into Portals! In Part 1 we'll define the term from the idea of literal gateways to the metaphysical concept of thresholds and how they represent transitions between worlds or unlocking enlightenment through magick rituals using triangles of manifestation and magical circles. We'll talk about Carl Jung's symbolism of the portal as a gateway to the subconscious or shadow and we'll get into the tools used for portals like scrying stones or bathtubs. Finally we'll run through a ton of pop culture portals you've seen in your favorite films like Alice in Wonderland, 2001: A Space Odyssey or Twin Peaks!Stay subscribed to the show for Part 2 where we'll talk about literal portals- where are they, how are they constructed and who was messing around with these things. I'll provide examples from Jack Parsons to Britney Spears and Travis Scott before we get into the more modern concepts of portals when it comes to aliens and A.I. where we'll talk about the CCRU and AI entities crossing over into our world…Links:Stranger Things S1 and S4 analysis series: https://illuminatiwatcher.com/stranger-things-s1-occult-symbolism-of-eleven-mkultra-monolith-stargate-project-monarch/Kobe Bryant's Occult Kids Books: ILLUMINATI CONFIRMED! https://www.illuminatiwatcher.com/kobe-bryants-occult-kids-books-illuminati-confirmedWizard of Oz Esoteric Analysis: L. Welcome to Movie Mandates, a review show in which sibling cinephiles Andrew and Keleigh force each other to watch movies according to a monthly theme! January is Second Breakfast month where we call we're allowed a mulligan on a previously mandated movie that didn't turn out so good. While we both enjoyed Keleigh's recent Artsy Fartsy pic of The Green Knight, she thought she could squeeze a bit more artsy out of the fartsy and mandated we watch 2001: A Space Odyssey, a film, unlike The Green Knight, is one we both, shamefully, had never seen. But now we have and because we're both super smart little cookies, we understood everything that happened in the movie! 0:00 - Trivial Trivia 18:24- 2001: A Space Odyssey review 1:03:37- Next episode's mandated movie We'll be back in two weeks with another mandated movie. If you'd like to watch it, click here to find where it's streaming or available to rent. If you'd like to watch the video version of Movie Mandates, you can do so on YouTube. Alternatively, you can listen to and audio-only version on iTunes. New episodes of Movie Mandates drop on the first and third Wednesday of every month! Are you ready for David Block to take us beyond the stars? It is time to leave Earth and go to space with Hal. Through his movies, Kubrick lets us follow in the footsteps of the elite. There is a rainbow connection between his films The Shining, Eyes Wide Shut, and 2001: A Space Odyssey. "(Going) Back to (Look at) the Future Month" reaches its epic conclusion with Stanley Kubrick's "2001: A Space Odyssey." Ben, Greg, Lindsey, Marshall, and Ray discuss this vision of 2001 from the perspective of 1968; one of the most referenced, parodied, discussed, dissected, and imitated films of all time. Directed by Stanley Kubrick, written by Kubrick and Arthur C. Clarke, and starring Keir Dullea, Gary Lockwood, William Sylvester, and Douglas Rain.
Join Kyle and Dylan as they talk about the new release AfrAId, other films centering around AI (2001 and Artificial Intelligence), the new thriller Strange Darling, and the infamous Vincent Gallo drama The Brown Bunny.
It's no longer Kubrick Month because we're late recording and uploading this and P4, but regardless, we're here to complete our Kubrickian Odysseys! Dhruv, Amartya, and Hemant have spent the entirety of July (and will now spend the last week of August and the first week of September) revisiting and discussing 10 (of 13) Kubrick-directed films (the Horror and Noir films will be discussed in October and November, respectively!) plus one conceptualized and obsessed over by him but eventually directed by his dear friend, Steven Spielberg. In Part 4 (of 4), we focus primarily on the monolith of Kubrick's filmography and hard science fiction itself: "2001: A Space Odyssey." Everything from Ridley Scott's "Alien" to Christopher Nolan's "Interstellar" to Denis Villeneuve's "Arrival" to Werner Herzog's philosophy, and most importantly, Michael Bay's "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" is referenced here, as the three of us try to make sense of Kubrick's enigmatic masterpiece. We go through the film chapter by chapter, detailing our interpretations of each of its mysterious, short-story-like building blocks before leaping its two "real" offsprings—"2010—The Year We Make Contact" and, more extensively, Steven Spielberg's "A.I. Artificial Intelligence"—to, hopefully, provide some legitimate answers to 2001's enduring, endless mysteries. Discovery One Interior ambience — hey, we're back at the movies and inside everyone's favorite Jupiter-bound phallus rocket. This episode is mainly based on a composite of the internal Discovery-1 scenes from 2001: A Space Odyssey. It is primarily based on the circuit tests (about an hour and thirteen minutes) with some orchestra elements. Hal's not in this ambience, by the way. That bot creeps me out. My parents forced me to watch 2001: A Space Odyssey on the Home Box Office in the 1980s. I know how much everyone loves the Space Odyssey, but I was utterly coerced. “It's in space, like Star Wars.” “Is it actually like Star Wars?” My parents played that same “it's like Star Wars” sh!t with John Carpenter's the Thing, and I had spider-head nightmares for years.
We take on a true Cult Classic
