She's making her mark as a female comic, proving that women can be smart, sassy, and funny. She constantly strives to make beauty from ashes and uses her quick wit and sarcasm from her life experiences to uplift and make others smile. Bryson Brown is a stand up Comedian from Austin, TX who has toured the nation opening for Ali Siddiq, DeRay Davis, Bruce Bruce, Adele Givens and more of your favorite comics, as well as headlining his own sold out shows on his critically acclaimed Jokin' and Smokin' Tour. Bryson's smooth and laid back approach to everyday life situations makes him a crowd favorite. The audio is bit rough since he was outside but nonetheless it was a pleasure to have had the chance to speak to Bryson, incredible comic and incredibly underrated. According to Russel Simmions, In his book "Life and Def: Sex, Drugs, Money + God" The inspiration for Def COmedey Jam was a club on Crenshaw Blvd in L.A. called the Comedy Act Theater. Robin Harris hosted performances there, and he already had a serious underground buzz, from House PArty and Do the Right Thing. At the same time, everywhere Russell traveled, the "Black Comedy" nights were hot, and Russel was always looking for stuff that was "hot" with his hip-hop customer base. 105. In 1989, he eventually hooked up with Hollywood power player Stan Lathan (Sanford & Son, Hill Street Blues, Miami Vice, Remington Steele ,Cagney & Lacey, Frank's Place, Roc and the 1984 classic feature film Beat Street) and they began creating Def Comedy Jam. 106. The original run of Def Comedy Jam ran from July 1, 1992 to January 1, 1997. In the fall of 2006 it returned to HBO. Many comedians had their careers launched by the huge success of this series! 107. Robin Harris was going to be the original host, but he died in 1990. Eddie Murphy was a big supporter of Martin Lawrence to replace Harris. 108. The show caught major criticism for using excessive foul language and a “supposed” negative representation of African Americans. Bill Cosby and Sidney Potier were major critics. 109. Def Comedy Jam, went on to become the longest running HBO series ever, launched the careers of several A-List comedians today. 110. 1992 Alumni: 111. Chris Tucker, Martin Lawrence, Steve Harvey, Bernie Mac, Bill Bellamy, DL Hughley, Adele Givens, Cedric the Entertainer, Dave Chapelle, Eddie Griffin, Joe Torry, Michael Colyar, and Ricky Harris Jr. 112. About SWEET BABY KITA Are you ready to experience one of the most professional, classy, multidimensional and unforgettable comedians ever? Licita "Sweet Baby Kita" Cromer , a native of Spartanburg SC, female comedian, currently residing in Atlanta, Georgia, has been making audiences laugh professionally for over ten years, has continued to make everyone she comes in contact with in life laugh. Charismatic, hilarious, creative, and contagious like the Chicken Pox, and able to adjust to any situation, are some of the terms used when describing her "one of a kind talent". Not only will she tickle your funny bone with her jokes, she will marvel you as an actress, gracefully sing unforgettable melodies, and engage any audience with her distinct voice and energy as an emcee. Licita is a gifted comedic storyteller who worked in corporate America for many years, was constantly told daily, how funny she was and how she made others day more bearable with her jokes. After hearing she should be a comedian so often, she decided to start writing jokes for other comics, but they simply could not deliver her jokes with the same finesse and laughability. So she turned in her corporates badge, and decided to take a gigantic leap of faith, and do what she was born to do which is to entertain others with her comedy. She considers it an absolute blessing to live your dream daily, and have no regrets. "Sweet Baby Kita" is very versatile, and although she desires stardom and a more popular platform to be featured on, she is very humble, and continues to perform, weekly at various venues Casinos, Churches, Family reunions and birthday celebrations. To add to her repertoire, she is also a Christian Comedian because as she states, "...even God agrees that laughter is the good for the soul". She is an "in your face comedian," who has been compared to the likes of the greats such as Adele Givens, Sheryl Underwood, Tiffany Haddish, and Sommore, and who appeals to all audiences, from children to the elderly, so yes she will do daycare, and nursing home shows also...lol She can be seen performing monthly at the following Comedy Clubs im around Atlanta: Uptown Comedy, Punchline, Atlanta Improv, and many others venues. Sweet Baby Kita was also 1 of 10 Comedians chosen nationally, out of 52 Comedians, by the USO East Coast, to compete to be chosen for a world tour with the USO and Military. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/matthew-tiger-impersonator/message
