See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Ja, het was weer wa!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

A conversation with Sebastiaan Huisman, large-scale organic farmer and advisor, about consulting on many large farm transitions, including the British royal family and working with Wildfarmed. Why is he so optimistic about biodynamic, holistic, and regenerative farming, and why does it all start with children?Picking apples on an biodynamic farm at age 12 led to setting up one of the largest biodynamic farms in Europe, almost 2000 hectares in Poland, on very very poor soil, Sebastian had an incredible journey from that Dutch farm to the creation of one of Europe's largest biodynamic farms. As he shares his story, we'll uncover the transformative impact of regenerative agriculture, not just on the soil but also on the very heart of the community. ---------------------------------------------------Join our Gumroad community, discover the tiers and benefits on www.gumroad.com/investinginregenag. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Our relationship with our parents and, more widely, with our ancestors' stories are some of the most formative & influential connections in many people's lives, both for good and bad. The impact of this relationship can be felt in so many different ways, not least of which in artistic expression. With me today is Violaine Huisman, a French author based in New York who recently became the Director of Cultural Affairs at the Alliance Française. She's the author of a trilogy of novels about her and her family. The first is called The Book of Mother published in 2018 and translated into English last year, the second is called Rose désert (translated maybe as “Desert Pink”) published in 2019 but not yet translated, and the third is Les monuments de Paris (“The Monuments of Paris”) which will be published this year. In this episode, Violaine and I cover a wide array of topics – the structure and linearity of her novels, the existential question of ‘Frenchness' and being a ‘French author in New York', and of course we speak of Marcel Proust, as well as some of the other major influences in her writing. It was a real pleasure to speak with Violaine about this powerful, family-driven trilogy which I absolutely recommend. In today's interview, we discussed Les Essais, by Michel de Montaigne (1580), a wide-ranging collection of essays, originally written in ‘Middle French', Saxifrage, by Catherine Cremnitz (1993) – Violaine's mother's own autobiography, and 10:04, by Ben Lerner (2014), a modern book of auto-fiction about a Manhattan-based author recently diagnosed with a life-threatening heart-condition. The best book Violaine has read in the last 12 months was Les Misérables, by Victor Hugo (1862), which tells the story of Jean Valjean and the other ‘miserable' characters of the early 1800s Paris underworld. The book she would take to a desert island was the Bible. Finally, a book that changed her mind was In Search of Lost Time by Marcel Proust (first published in 1913), about its narrator's life and childhood, and his reflections on the persistence of memory. Is kaas onze redding?

I met Noah several years ago in Austin Texas at the HPLT fitness summit. An awesome human that I connected with over competition, hot/cold therapy and good food. At the conclusion of the weekend we stayed in touch and when he visited South Florida for a business conference we had the chance to sweat and chat a bit more. His story is born of creative calling and when his day to day law office grind was unfulfilling and threatening his sanity, he changed directions and started listening to his Universal Higher Power. He was called to create more in his community and unite Austin even more. He opened Squatch Frontier Fitness, which continue to host and evolve anyone looking for a solid group of people in Texas. He began writing and focusing on his love of philosophy which led to the publication of his 1st book and second on the way. He takes on his each day with writing as his number one priority and when he feels most connected.Upon a recent business trip to Florida we were able to catch up and sit down to discuss the plans of 2023 and beyond. One of the few podcasts that I could have extended into multiple hours to cover all the content we wished to cover. He firmly believes that WE ARE THE TIMES and have to take reponsibility for what we do each and every day we are given. There will be a follow up podcast but for now please reach and and contact Noah on instagram @noahhuisman3 on SUBSTACK, @squatchfrontierfitness, @thisway_tothestars - AMAZON and 20% RHONE- Husiman20. We found this week's guest (final guest of Outlook 2022) through this other recent guest Kyle Kiper, both from Arkansas. This week on Outlook we're speaking with Cindy Scott-Huisman about art, creativity, and ingenuity. We discuss Cindy's journey with her son's and her own Leber's Hereditary Optic Neuropathy (LHON), Cantrell Gallery which has been in her family for half a century and the pride she has in her work there, and about how Scott-Huisman took chances on a continued happy life post LHON diagnosis. We at Outlook always like to learn, through another's self description, what they still can and do see, but we love discussing art (in all its forms) with those who also love it.
