Ken je dat? Dat je een idee tegenkomt, waarvan je denkt: ‘Hoe briljant? Waarom ben ik daar zelf niet op gekomen?!' Het fenomeen ‘magneetwoorden' is bij uitstek zo'n idee. Jaren geleden kwam ik dit al tegen in een blog van Jeanine Mies. Ik legde contact met haar en opeens kwam ze weer op de lijn, nu met een boek. Ik las het met zeer veel plezier en vroeg haar natuurlijk meteen voor de podcast. Dat interview vind je hier. Wat is dan dat briljante idee? Het ding is dat wij mensen vaak taal gebruiken die lijkt voort te komen uit angst. We willen nare dingen voorkomen of onder controle houden. Het suffe is dat we ze daardoor vaak juist oproepen. Onbewust brengen we mensen op ideeën. Denk aan een kampeerboerderij waar de boer in de keuken een bordje ophing met: ‘Niet met de pannendeksels tegen elkaar slaan!' Oké, stel je bent tien en met je vriendjes op kamp. Je hebt lang in de bus gezeten en je hebt zin in lol. Je komt in de keuken en leest het bordje. Wat ga je dan doen? Precies! Jeanine is al een kwart eeuw zelfstandig tekstschrijver en trainer en zij stelt het volgende: “Magneetwoorden hebben een magisch effect op mensen. Plotseling vinden ze het prima om hun fiets elders te parkeren, gooien ze hun rommel keurig in de prullenbak en zijn ze geïnteresseerd in jouw ideeën. Met magneetwoorden verander je dwarsliggers in medestanders. Zelfs in je eigen gedachten maken je woorden verschil. In this episode I talk about natural transitional rewards. Many may not have heard the term, but a lot of you may have used them in the training of your dog whether you realize it or not. If you want to do a real dive into the behavioral part of training, I encourage you to listen to my two episodes on conditioning - Session 73: Skinner's Four Quadrants Part One, and Session 74: Skinner's Four Quadrants Part Two. I'll talk about the conditioning baked into every day interactions with your dog (like the feeding ritual). The same thing goes for when we are preparing for a walk. Those rituals can be a good thing. But it's it's more than simply the obedience skill you're teaching - it's the nervous system state that is occurring during that sit/stay and from the moment that you give the command to "break free" or say "all done". I'll describe how those commands and practices get embedded in their head, and how that fixation needs to be inhibited in certain instances. Here are a couple of other instances where you might practically use this training; Preparing for a walk Preparing for feeding time The "Getting out of a car" ritual Going through the front door ritual Going through the gate at the dog park ritual I'll talk about how sometimes we unintentionally signal to our dog when we reward certain types of gregarious responses is "I love it when you freak out and run around when I do this action!" In the ‘00s there were three big Conspiracy theory movies on the internet: the 9/11 conspiracy theory film Loose Change, the multi-conspiracy film Zeitgeist, and the illuminati and conspirituality film Esoteric Agenda. Esoteric Agenda is perhaps less famous than the other two, but it was just as impactful for the first generation of internet users who watched videos online. On this episode, we talk about the movie and its creator Ben Stewart. Stewart was the singer/songwriter for an up-and-coming but unsigned band called Hierosonic. While Stewart initially made conspiracy videos to discuss topics in his songs, he soon discovered his YouTube clips were making a bigger impact than his music did. That set him on a path towards becoming a professional conspiracist that stretches to today. He now makes series for the conspirituality streaming network Gaia TV and right wing YouTuber Tim Pool. Ed Troxell is a video coach and online marketing expert teaching agents how to show up on video for their social media and marketing so they can close more deals. He has a coaching program specifically on video marketing called The Video Advantage where he helps real estate agents and other service-based business owners better understand how to use video and feel more comfortable with it to attract more qualified leads. Ed was ranked as one of the top 15 coaches in Santa Rosa by Influence Digest. As a former Apple Inc. employee, he brings a unique skill set to the table from sales, marketing, strategizing systems, and processes, to teaching the importance of showing up as yourself on video so that you can stand out from the competition and become the agent of choice. Ed first started his business a little over seven years ago. He began with tech support and web design because that was his world. He came from a background of helping small businesses and nonprofits with their tech needs and being the techie on demand for them. When he started his business and went full-time to entrepreneurship, he had to market himself differently, and the only thing that would make him stand out was video. He found the solution, but it was also not great because he didn't want to be on camera. He didn't like the way he looked on camera or the sound of his voice. Ed realized it wasn't about him anymore, it was about his business and making a bigger impact. He had to get comfortable with the uncomfortable and have a conversation with himself, asking if he wanted his business to be successful, and stand out. He had to start showing up on camera and it wasn't just grabbing his phone and getting on video. He had to go live on camera on a program called Periscope, one of the first live-streaming platforms from back in the day.The world wasn't watching him, but he went “live” to anybody who wanted to show up, which is a little terrifying, especially if you don't want to be on camera. Not only did that help his business, but it also helped him personally. The growth went both personally and professionally. When we start to narrow it down and focus, we can expand and reach more people. Ed advises people to have a profile that they are active on. Showing up as everything starts with you. A lot of people start with stories as the easiest way to get into video because you're not necessarily putting yourself out there like you would with a standard post. Everything has a season. So does your content, which is what he teaches his clients, to be able to have a structure in place, know when they're going to have an on and off-season and be able to have content planned out so that it is easy to pick up their phone and share that content when they want, where they want. People must have more access to you. Attracting more of your ideal clients to start getting more calls and hits. Essentially getting your business to thrive.In this episode:[02:38] Ed realized that showing up on camera meant making a bigger impact on his business.Getting comfortable with the uncomfortable.Going live on camera on one of the first live-streaming platforms.[05:52] How Ed helps people figure out what the best channels are to be on.Be on the ones that you're already active on, not just a profile.Start with stories as the easiest way to get into video.[09:09] Coaching people through changing their mindset to condense into a small timeframe. Having 20 to 30-minute videos which don't get to the point. Keeping it under 10 minutes, ideally, five is great if you get straight to it.
