Hardly recognizable from one character to the next, Alanna Ubach has starred in over 150 theater, film and television projects, including the Peabody Award-winning "Men of a Certain Age", the Oscar-winning "Coco" as Mama Imelda, the family's matriarch, and critically acclaimed "Euphoria" as "Suze." She was nominated for a SAG award for her performance as Jeanine Pirro in "Bombshell" and noted by the New York Times as "a seriously talented actress" to "keep your eye on." Her most recent role is Ted, the television series from Seth MacFarlene. She plays Susan Bennett. The plot reads, “It's 1993, and Ted the bear's moment of fame has passed. He's living back home with his best friend, John Bennett, and his family. While Ted may be a lousy influence on John, he's a loyal pal who will go out on a limb for friendship.” In this interview, we talk about comedic influences, character actors that inspired her work, why she never wanted to play herself, what she's most known for, the comfort she gets from acting and why there's nothing more exhilarating that earning a crowd's laugh. A Ghost Story (2017) A Ghost Story is a 2017 American supernatural drama film written and directed by David Lowery. It stars Casey Affleck, Rooney Mara, Will Oldham, Sonia Acevedo, Rob Zabrecky, Liz Franke and Kesha. Affleck plays a man who becomes a ghost and remains in the house he shares with his wife (Mara). The film had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on January 22, 2017, and was released by A24 on July 7, 2017. A Ghost Story received positive reviews from critics. Coco (2017) Coco is a 2017 American computer-animated fantasy film produced by Pixar Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures. Based on an original idea by Lee Unkrich, it is directed by him and co-directed by Adrian Molina. The film's voice cast stars Anthony Gonzalez, Gael García Bernal, Benjamin Bratt, Alanna Ubach, Renée Victor, Ana Ofelia Murguía and Edward James Olmos. The story follows a 12-year-old boy named Miguel who is accidentally transported to the Land of the Dead, where he seeks the help of his deceased musician great-great-grandfather to return him to his family among the living and to reverse his family's ban on music. The concept for Coco is inspired by the Mexican holiday Day of the Dead. The film was scripted by Molina and Matthew Aldrich from a story by Unkrich, Jason Katz, Aldrich, and Molina. Pixar began developing the animation in 2016; Unkrich and some of the film's crew visited Mexico for research. Composer Michael Giacchino, who had worked on prior Pixar animated features, composed the score. With a cost of $175–225 million, Coco is the first film with a nine-figure budget to feature an all-Latino principal cast. The two discuss the hit HBO show, and imagine what kind of teenagers their children are going to be in the future. Alanna also goes more into her geriatric pregnancy, and how acupuncture helped get things moving. Finally, she explains the importance of not psychoanalyzing a child, regardless of what family history may be. Plus, while talking to Alanna, we spotted a pretty sweet fountain set up behind her! What does that and a little ceramic bunny have in common? FInd out the answer in this special episode. “You got into Harvard Law? What, like it's hard?” We're talking about 2000s comedy classic Legally Blonde with our friend Wolfgang La Vie, and whoever said orange is the new pink is seriously disturbed. This role sealed the deal, making Reese Witherspoon the titan of the industry she still is today. Reese's Elle Woods is a true feminist icon, and this movie holds up some twenty years after its release. We discuss the evolution of Amanda Brown's novel turned script. Going from a raunchy college comedy in the vein of American Pie, to a story of female empowerment, Legally Blonde was on to something making the “dumb blonde” the smartest person in the room. This cast is incredible. We get America's cute boyfriend from the early 2000s Luke Wilson, Selma Blair's anti-Elle Woods, and the dynamic duo Alanna Ubach and Jessica Cauffiel as the hilarious best friends. Jennifer Coolidge makes a truly iconic appearance as Elle's nail tech bestie Paulette. “So what's this Vivian got that you don't... Three Tits?” still sends us. Elle taught us many important life lessons as young gays. Always believe in yourself, workplace harassment is never okay, and everyone should know the golden rules of haircare are simple and finite.” Thanks for listening and don't forget to subscribe, rate and review us on Apple Podcasts! www.patreon.com/moviesthatmadeusgay Facebook/Instagram: @moviesthatmadeusgay Twitter: @MTMUGPod Scott Youngbauer: Twitter @oscarscott / Instagram @scottyoungballer Peter Lozano: Twitter/Instagram @peterlasagna

Directed by Lee Unkrich, voice cast stars Anthony Gonzalez, Gael García Bernal, Benjamin Bratt, Alanna Ubach, Renée Victor, Ana Ofelia Murguía and Edward James Olmos.
We're visiting the drop ceilings, fluorescent lights and empty coffee pots of 90s office life in 1997's “Clockwatchers” this week. A very Muriel-esque Toni Collette is the new girl in the temp pool, making fast friends with Parker Posey, Lisa Kudrow and Alanna Ubach, all at exciting times in their film careers. We get Debra Jo Rupp doing micromanaging magic as Barbara from HR, to say nothing of Best Supporting JAG in the corner office. We also have much to relate to in this movie, as neither of us are strangers to corporate drag. But at least there's free wings at happy hour! Vee and Alessandra welcome Alanna Ubach! You might know Alanna as Suze Howard, Cassie's mom in Euphoria, or if you're a Pixar fan then you might know her as the voice of Mama Imelda in Coco, the matriach of the Rivera Family. Alanna joins the show to talk about her heritage as a Puerto Rican-Mexican American living in a society that did not always recognize her as a latina. She shares her journey of breaking into the industry and standing firm in her determination to never give up; the reverse discrimination she still faces to this day, and finally working on a project that went outside her norm. And to stay true to the show's vibes, Alanna shares her favorite facial product that she SWEARS by. We LOVE Alanna Ubach and we know you will too! In this episode, Scopophilia host Becky Teller speaks with the incomparable actress Alanna Ubach to talk about drag, history, and their shared love of Victor, Victoria! *SPOILERS FROM 40 YEARS AGO*
It's our big bad season four finale, babes, and we're joined by actor and singer, Alanna Ubach. You Might Know Her From Euphoria, The Flight Attendant, Coco, Clockwatchers, Waiting, Meet the Fockers, Sister Act 2, Beakman's World, Bombshell, Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce, The Brady Bunch Movie, and the Legally Blonde films. Alanna gave us all the goods on joining season two of The Flight Attendant, showing up to her Euphoria audition with a glass of wine, and her big musical number “La Llorona” in Coco. We also got to talk about two personal favorites: her portrayal of Doreen, Marcia's lesbian BFF, in The Brady Bunch Movie (and the similarities between Doreen and Tai in Clueless), plus the indie classic, Clockwatchers, opposite an incredible ensemble of newly minted movie stars who may or may not have been a bit…cliquey. This episode was a total barn burner. Get into it now. Follow us on social media @damianbellino || @rodemanne Discussed this week Harvey Fierstein's autobiography I Was Better Last Night Fierstein dated Bruce Bibbie aka Ted Casablanca (of The Awful Truth) for 5 years Julia Sweeney's Pat, Bob Vila, Urkel, and Ted Casablanca Neither one of us cares about Newsies but I'd see it since Harvey wrote the book Harvey in Mrs. Doubtfire montage scene Two youngest Bradys are most disgusting Susan Olsen is a homophobe Ghost town episode of Brady Bunch is Anne's favorite Joining Season 2 of The Flight Attendant Plays Lexi and Cassie's mom on Euphoria (created by Sam Levinson) Christiane F, Foxes, Over the Edge, Sid and Nancy, Plays Imelda in Coco and gets to sing “La Llorona” Loves character actors: Quinn Cummings, Dana Hill, Richard E Grant Clockwaters (Jill Sprecher) is the end of the indie era Ensemble was insane: Lisa Kudrow, Parker Posey, Toni Collette, Alanna Ubach The Brady Bunch Movie is outrageously good go watch it! Alanna Ubach is a master at finding humor in the drama of being alive. She's a freakishly versatile actor who looks for something to love in every character she plays, from a real Fox News personality in BOMBSHELL to a raunchy sidekick in Bravo's “Girlfriend's Guide to Divorce”. Her fictional roles are full of truth, from her cartoonish Latina housekeeper in MEET THE FOCKERS to the soulful animated grandmother she plays in Disney-Pixar's Oscar-winner COCO. We talk to the Los Angeles native about the course of her career (so far) starting with learning to act as a kid by mimicking her father's Mexican accent, through “standing up for a piece of humanity” as she sums up her job now.
Ryan and Dylan are joined by Kamryn Amory to discuss the biggest television show right now, HBO's Euphoria.

A LONG TIME AGO ON VERONICA MARS: • SPRING BREAK!! Neptune is full of douchey boys and drunk girls, what could possibly go wrong?? • What goes wrong? A bomb goes off at the party motel, that’s what’s wrong! Killing four people, one of whom is the nephew of El Despiadado, a MEXICAN CRIME LORD oh Rob Thomas, must we? • We must, and El Despiadado must send two guys to Neptune to chop off the head of whoever’s responsible for the bombing. • But they’re not the only family with a stake in this crime: the brother of congressman Daniel Maloof lost his hand and his fiancee, and the Maloofs hire the Marses to investigate. And Matty, the teenage daughter of the motel owner who died, is tugging at Veronica’s heartstrings. • We also meet some new characters: pizza delivery guy Patton Oswalt - er, Penn; Mr Hu, whose supermarket is being sabotaged with rats; and super cool bar owner Nicole, who sure can punch. • Plus we have the return of ambulance-chasing Cliff; a still-recovering Keith; and Big Dick Casablancas, who’s campaigning to Make Neptune Great Again. • Logan is also back, and he proposes to Veronica! What a prick! And he plays with Wallace’s baby! Ugh how dare he! Join Jenny Owen Youngs and Helen Zaltzman to investigate Veronica Mars season 4 episode 1: Spring Break Forever, and get stuck into such mysteries as why Wallace doesn't have his own adorable multi-camera sitcom already, whether Americans really do use cutesy swears like 'cockwaffle', and how come there's so much natural light in Neptune these days. Alanna Ubach has cultivated a career marked by the kind of range that many actors dream of. A bonified character actress, with equal parts grit and grace, she is unequivocally honest about her experience in Hollywood, generously sharing what she’s learned along the way. Hardly recognizable from one character to the next, Alanna Ubach has starred in nearly 150 theater, film, and TV projects. Born in Downey, California to a Mexican-born mother and Puerto Rican father, Ubach has been a working actress since childhood. Following her television debut on "Romper Room," she joined the Lee Strasberg Institute's Children's Program. At 15, she fearlessly travelled to New York to star in WPA's Off-Broadway production of "Club Soda.” She made her mark in the industry playing the family housekeeper-turned wedding caterer and Gaylord's first lover in "Meet the Fockers," the sorority sister/best friend to Elle Woods in "Legally Blonde," and the sex-starved Israeli neighbor on "Hung." In addition to her role as Jo on Bravo's first original scripted series, "Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce," She can also be heard lending her voice to Disney/Pixar's Oscar winning animated film "Coco," featuring an all-Latino cast, where she plays great-great-grandmother Mama Imelda. Winfree and Radulich review the latest Pixar feature, Coco! Coco is a 2017 American 3D computer-animated musical fantasy film produced by Pixar Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures.[9] Based on an original idea by Lee Unkrich, it is directed by Unkrich and co-directed by Adrian Molina. The story follows a 12-year-old boy named Miguel who is accidentally transported to the land of the dead, where he seeks the help of his musician great-great-grandfather to return him to his family among the living. The concept of the film is based on the Mexican holiday of Día de Muertos. The screenplay was penned by Molina and Matthew Aldrich, based on a story by Unkrich, Molina, Jason Katz and Aldrich. Pixar began developing animation in 2016; Unkrich and some of the film's crew visited Mexico for inspiration. Composer Michael Giacchino, who had worked on prior Pixar animated features, composed the score. The film's voice cast features Anthony Gonzalez, Gael García Bernal, Benjamin Bratt, Alanna Ubach, Renée Victor, Ana Ofelia Murguía and Edward James Olmos. It is the first-ever film with a nine-digit budget to feature an all-Latino cast, with a cost between $175–200 million.

New "Kahnversations" Podcast with Actor Alanna Ubach! In this episode of "Kahnversations," we interview Alanna Ubach. Alanna Noël Ubach was born in Downey, California, USA and is of Puerto Rican and Mexican decent. A chameleon-like actress and voice over talent, she is best known for her roles in MEET THE FOCKERS, RANGO, the Peabody Award- winning MEN OF A CERTAIN AGE, HUNG, LEGALLY BLONDE, WAITING, and her portrayal of Jo Frumpkis in Bravo's first scripted series, GIRLFRIENDS' GUIDE TO DIVORCE. She was recently seen in the Netflix film TO THE BONE, alongside Lily Collins and Keanu Reeves, and has a voiceover role in Pixar's upcoming COCO. She has voiced several cartoon roles on series such as EL TIGRE, WELCOME TO THE WAYNE, TEAMO SUPREMO and HANDY MANDY! Ubach is hardly recognizable from one character to the next, leveraging her broad width of versatility on stage, screen, and animation. She began acting professionally at the age of five. Quoted as "an exceptionally talented and protean actress" by The New York Times and Variety, Ubach made her Off-Broadway debut at the age of fifteen in CLUB SODA. She later starred in KINDERTRANSPORT at the Manhattan Theater Club and PATRIOTIC BITCH, a one woman show at New York's Harold Clurman Theater. Alanna resides in Los Angeles with her husband, Thomas Russo. You can download or subscribe to the podcast for FREE by clicking below. If you like “Kahnversations,” please leave a rating or review on our iTunes page! There are so many inspiring podcasts with fabulous stars out there. But their careers feel light years away from ours, don’t they? Wouldn’t it be great to hear from the guy who just booked his first pilot? Or the kid finally doing a studio pic after a bunch of low budget indies? Or the woman who’s been a series regular a few times but is only now becoming a name? What about the guy who’s been on a show for years and you know his face but what’shisnameagain? Or that actress who is now a freakin’ showrunner???? How’d THEY do it, right? How did they transition from relative obscurity, bartending and bottle service, to buying that house in Brentwood? We’re producing “Kahnversations,” a podcast that provides access to THOSE people -- your immediate predecessors -- so that you can learn from them while their battle scars are still fresh. In “Kahnversations,” our own Ryan Bailey interviews some of Lesly Kahn & Company’s working actors, directors, and writers in order to learn how they got started in Hollywood, the challenges and hurdles they faced, and how they overcame the odds. (They also dish out some crazy stories!) Listen in and enjoy as these entertainers speak candidly about their paths, processes, and experiences. You might even hear a bit about how Lesly and the Kahnstitute have influenced and shaped their careers.
