That is why listening commits more to the divine truth than seeing. That is why I don't have a visual podcast. Seeing disrupts truly listening. When experiencing the meaning of words in the intellect then moving to an emotional response - that heightens our energy to divine exuberance. David is a renowned expert on VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, Ambiguous) environments and has spent his career advising organizations on how to thrive amidst complexity and disruption. Instead, he advocates for a more collaborative, emotionally intelligent, and resilient leadership style, one that embraces uncertainty rather than fighting it. He explains how technology, climate change, and societal shifts are creating a world that's more BANI (Brittle, Anxious, Nonlinear, and Incomprehensible), and what leaders need to do to stay ahead.Throughout the episode, David draws on his extensive experience advising CEOs and leadership teams, offering practical insights into how organizations can navigate the unpredictability of today's environment. He also delves into the importance of hope and optimism, even in times of crisis, and how leaders can turn challenges into opportunities for growth and innovation. Actionable Takeaways:You'll learn why traditional leadership models based on control and linear thinking are no longer effective in today's VUCA world—and what you need to replace them with.Hear how embracing uncertainty and fostering resilience can transform how your organization responds to crises and wicked problems.Discover the power of emotional intelligence in leadership and why listening is just as important as speaking in today's collaborative environments.Find out what David means by a BANI world (Brittle, Anxious, Nonlinear, and Incomprehensible) and how leaders can adapt to thrive in these unpredictable times.Explore the importance of hope and optimism in leadership and how turning crises into opportunities is key to long-term success.Understand why future literacy and foresight are critical tools for leaders looking to anticipate change and guide their organizations through complexity.Learn why David believes that normalcy has left the building and how leaders must evolve to lead effectively in this new reality.Hear David's insights on why collaboration—not isolation—is the future of leadership and how diverse perspectives fuel innovation.Gain insight into why scenario planning is a powerful tool for leaders to prepare for multiple futures and make better strategic decisions.Connect with David RossDavid Ross Website Confronting the Storm: Regenerating Leadership and Hope in the Age of UncertaintyDavid Ross LinkedInConnect with Mahan Tavakoli: Mahan Tavakoli Website Mahan Tavakoli on LinkedIn Partnering Leadership Website

Joining Jill and Doron on the 19th episode of the podcast, the first of our second season, to tell us his story, is Rabbi David Rosen (1958-67), the youngest son of Carmel College's founders Rabbi Dr. Kopul and Bella Rosen, and brother of Rabbis Jeremy Rosen and the late Micky Rosen.   David, known to his old school friends as Buster, is currently Special Advisor to the Abrahamic Family House in Abu Dhabi.  He is the former Chief Rabbi of Ireland, and previously Senior Rabbi of the largest Jewish congregation in South Africa during the apartheid era.  For his interfaith work, he has received a papal knighthood and was named a Commander of the British Empire by the late Queen Elizabeth II.  David lives in Jerusalem and is married to Sharon, with whom he has three children and seven grandchildren, ranging in age from 2 to 23.     Hear David talk about sibling rivalries, playing cricket with the Chief Rabbi, hearing Danny Kaye sing Hebrew in Wallingford on Faye Day, and his IDF service.   Thank you, Rabbi David Rosen, for turning us again to Carmel days!   Dedication: at David's request, this episode is dedicated to the memory of his late mother Bella Rosen, who made often unrecognized yet invaluable contributions to Carmel College as its co-founder.  In the school's early years, she shouldered responsibilities as Catering Manager and Household Supervisor.   During one of the institution's dire financial periods she selflessly pawned her engagement ring to ensure breakfast for the school's boys, an act that resonates with profound dedication.  She later joined the Board of Governors.  Sadly, Bella Rosen passed away in Jerusalem in 1999. Joining Jill and Doron on the 16th episode of the podcast, to tell us his story, is David Dangoor (1961-67), a British businessman and philanthropist, whose family foundation for some years immediately after the school closed owned the Carmel estate.   David grew up in a prominent Jewish family in Baghdad in Iraq.  After studying physics at Imperial College, he became a systems engineer at IBM, and then joined his father, the late Sir Naim Dangoor, in starting a property business.  David is married to Judy with whom he has 2 daughters, 2 sons and lots of lovely grandchildren.  He was appointed a CBE, that is a Commander of the Order of the British Empire, in the 2021 Queen's Birthday Honours, for services to the community in Greater London.  He financed a documentary about the Jews of Iraq, “Remember Baghdad”, which is available on Netflix in the UK.   Hear David talk about growing up in Baghdad's Jewish community, how coloring in pictures of pipettes at Carmel ignited in him a passion for physics, the time he witnessed an armed robbery in the Headmaster's study, and the 9 years he owned the Carmel College estate.   Thank you, David Dangoor, for turning us again to Carmel days!   Dedication: at David's request, this episode is dedicated to the memory of his classmate Marcus Fachler, later known as Rabbi Mordechai Fachler, who died tragically in South Africa in 2010 after a prolonged coma following a brain haemorrhage.   Personal mentions in this episode: Rabbi Dr. Kopul Rosen (Founder, Headmaster) Dr. David Stamler (Headmaster) Philip Skelker (Headmaster) Mr. Godfrey (Kitchen staff) Mrs. Godfrey (Kitchen staff) Tim Healey (History & Cricket) Margaret Healey (Matron & Housemother) Dr. Howarth (Physics) John Bunney (Physics) Helmut Dan Schmidt (Economics) Jimmy Shamash David Shamash Abraham Levy Dana (Shaul) Malmstrom Peter Rhodes Jonathan Abrahams Lawrence Cresner Marcus Fachler Brahm Norwich Gabriel Lee Peter Healey Robert Finestone Henry Milner Spencer Batiste Morris Bright MBE Harry Rappaport Jonathan Finlay Yohai Salem Robin Ferner Anthony Ferner Avrom Sherr   Feel free to leave a comment letting us know what you liked about this episode, and rate us on your favorite podcast platform

Smith-Shawaver is among the arms competing for a place in the back end of the starting rotation. (04:30) Ken Giles has impressed so far as he is fighting for a roster spot in the bullpen. Giles has barely pitched in the past few years due to injury and signed a minor league deal with Atlanta in early February. (11:00) Chris Sale brought the heat in his first Spring start as he settles in with his new team. Hear David describe his outing against the Pirates in Bradenton which included his top flight slider. (22:10) If you go to see the Braves play a road game in Florida, it's unlikely you'll see the regulars in that day's lineup. Eric explains the specifics that go into gameday prep during this time of year. The good news for the franchise is that their North Port location creates many fewer bus rides than when they played by Disney World. (27:00) Get to know the 20 year old infielder Ignacio "Nacho" Alvarez who spent last year at High-A Rome. He already has a few hits and David has been impressed by what he seen from him so far. (33:30) A scouting report on the young left handed pitcher Ray Kerr who Atlanta acquired in a December trade with the Padres. Listen to a brief explanation of his unusual journey from junior college to Braves camp. (41:00) Charlie Culberson's attempt at trying to make the Braves as a pitcher is in full swing as he turns 35 in April. (45:45) Quick conversation on the uniform controversy that has engulfed MLB. Tomorrow is the 2nd anniversary of the riot or insurrection at the United States Capitol. Additionally the January 6th Congressional Committee just finished its work and referred former President Donald Trump to the Department of Justice on four criminal charges relating to that day. Nationalism and Christian nationalism are on our minds again, as they have been nearly nonstop for the past two years. On today's episode of All Things, Pastor and Author David Ritchie helps us look at Christian nationalism through a Biblical lens. Ritchie says nationalism is a disordered love. You can have an ordered love of nation—that's called patriotism. But nationalism is when one's love of country becomes one's hope and vision for their future or safety or fundamental security.Ritchie shows us that nationalism itself is a religious shell that encases a political vision. Nationalist movements advance with religious fervor, even summoning people to worship and the adoration of a messiah figure. Christian nationalist movements co-opt and utilize Christian language and categories to advance their cause. Christian nationalists elevate individuals to the category of messiah—someone who will deliver us. In the US in particular we have looked to George Washington, or Barack Obama, and more recently Donald Trump as salvation figures for our nation. When someone says, “Donald Trump is God's man,” we as Christians should pause at the very least and reflect on what it means to assign salvific qualities to a politician. As Ritchie shows us in this episode, the stakes are high. To whom are we devoted? For what future vision are we living? Where is our hope? Does our faith influence our politics or are our politics shaping our faith? You can keep in touch with David Ritchie on social media, at @DavidARitchie on Twitter.Hear David's sermons at www.redeemerchristianchurch.com.Checkout his book, Why Do the Nations Rage?: The Demonic Origin of Nationalism here: https://amzn.to/3VEdlxF.Listen to my first conversation on All Things with David Ritchie here: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/all-things/id1449943664?i=1000565954723
