To Stop Pleasing & Appeasing Others, Focus On These 3 ThingsWonder why you automatically people-please, rush to fix things when there's a problem, panic at the idea of someone being upset with you, or feel an internal pressure to avoid disappointing others? This is the fawn response in action, and it is happening because your body is perceiving a threat or anticipating a threat. The body will react to the present based on your past, re-living that past experience through the feelings, sensations, reactions, and thoughts that flood you. When you've been threatened or harmed and your body has used the fawn response to survive it, it will do that again in the future because it worked.Disengaging this response involves:1) Restoring a sense of safety by nurturing capacity for those reactions, connecting with safe community and persons, and learning to regulate back into a window of tolerance through titrated experiencing of the sensations that show up2) Processing the pain, fear, and hurt that is stuck in a loop that was created in the previous threatening events. This will involve feeling the sensations in short, bit-by-bit moments over time. As the body begins to experience a reduction in the intensity, duration, and frequency of the intense sensations that come with fawning, it will start engaging in other responses to it, including inquiry, indifference, advocacy, and even fight or flight.3) Discovering safety and who you are without the fawning response. This will likely feel uncomfortable, confusing, liberating, and even empowering. You'll find yourself experiencing more rest, more confidence, more peace, and more clarity about what you want, what you feel, and your intuitive senses will arise. This is a core feature of the Codependency Healing System. Over 35 live-taught classes, you are nurtured through each of these phases of healing through live support, effective tools, and community.Your codependency developed in relationship. Your healing and freedom develops in relationship. We heal together. We thrive together.[Annual Enrollment in The Codependency Healing System Closes Saturday Till 2024]New payment options available! Check below! This is an invitation to codependents, people-pleasers, and perfectionists who've been doing therapy or self-help, are struggling to get lasting, consistent results, and are seeking greater self-worth, peace, and freedom in being who they are without trying to figure it all out or do it on their own.You will work along with me and 74 other students over a gentle 9 months as we increase your sense of safety, connection, and self-worth through:1) Increasing your emotional safety. 2) Connecting with reality and using it to build real connection. 3) Taking back and becoming your power. 4) Discovering and embodying who you really are through knowing your innate worth. 5) Reclaim your natural ability to create connection with others and build healthy, safe, playful bonds with your fellow humans. This is achieved through The Codependency Healing System 9-month, 36-module journey. To succeed in these areas, all you will need to do is:1) Watch the recorded trainings or show up to the live versions2) Do the practices 2 - 3 times a week3) Get support when you need it.The program supports you in doing that through:- Weekly live trainings hosted and taught by Marshall- Unrivaled live support facilitated by Marshall that includes:- Twice-a-week support calls to help you as you learn these concepts and master them in your daily life- Twice-a-week homework calls to help you do the homework, get help with tools, or have a space to do the work - Twice-a-month practice sessions to help you
Achieving Success In Your Healing: Are You Stuck In The "Start-Stop" Loop of Healing?Does this sound familiar?- You buy a course, feel a burst of relief, and never open the course again?- You get a big aha from something you've read, heard, or watched. It feels like something changed, yet the same behaviors and results show up again?- You try really, really hard to get engaged in your healing work, and you find yourself distracted by other things?- You feel pressure to "do it right" and when that doesn't happen, you deflate and retreat from doing anything else?- You're waiting to take action when it "feels right" or "you have the motivation"?If so, YOU ARE NOT ALONE.This is something I do a lot. In fact, it is part of how I heal. Sounds strange, right?"This is part of how you heal?"Yep. You see, when we step into something new (a course, therapy, coaching, etc), we will encounter the momentum of our previous path. This hows up as resistance and avoidance to the new thing we're attempting to integrate into our daily lives. It is that feeling of anxiety, discomfort, or ugh we feel when we step towards that new thing.*THIS IS NORMAL TO FEEL*Why? Because your body is used to a certain cadance and rhythm. It feels safest with what is known and is has a natural resistance towards new and unknown features. Accepting this as normal empowers you to navigate it to your advantage - specifically in making the new thing a normal thing. So, how do we do that?Learn in today's episode!***The Annual Enrollment for the Codependency Healing System is OPEN. It's been called "idealizing others" or "putting them on a pedastal". This is where a person perceives another to be much better than they are, including being perfect, being "the one", or having some kind of special meaning. These are positive illusionsThis habit comes from the young parts of ourselves that idealized parents, peers, and authorities. This happens as a way to try to create safety and comfort anxiety, as well as eliminate doubt or uncertainty the child doesn't know how to navigate. In trauma bonding, this is doing excessively about a person's partner, creating massive illusions and disillusions in the relationship. This is how we learned to navigate the lack of safe people in our lives - we created illusions of them. This also leads us to giving them a lot of influence, power, and responsibility over us. Often, we tend to look to people we've idealized for all the solutions and answers to our personal problems and challenges. We look to be rescued. And when they show up as the human being they are, we feel betrayed, dismayed, shocked, and disillusioned.Often, that person hasn't done anything actually harmful or abusive. In one experience from my life, the person had said no to me. And that shocked me deeply. Another person turned out they didn't like what I did. So, what do we do when this is happening?1) Recognize and acknowledge to yourself that you may be idealizing someone, especially if you make them out to be perfect, flawless, or ignore their humanity in some way2) Notice how your body feels around them. Is there euphoria? Do you feel swamped with admiration or affection? Do you find yourself pushing away things that bother you or feel uncomfortable? 3) Notice what expectations you are putting on them. Are you expecting them to act a certain way? Are you imagining them being or doing things a certain way?4) Notice what fantasies are present. Do this person bring you some kind of rescue? Are they "the one" you've been looking for? Are you finally going to get or have a specific result because they're in your life?5) Notice if you're seeing them as a human being with limits, challenges, and a life of their own. Often in idealization, we do not acknowledge that the other person is literally just a human being like ourselves. 6) Begin to normalize the person by identifying with them as a fellow human being. See their limits. Acknowledge things you may not like about them. Acknowledge that they have no responsibility to your expectations or fantasies about them. Start to visualize them as an equal to you. You two are both human beings. No more, no less.7) Process your feelings of disappointment or hurt with a therapist or qualified mentor. This will help you to start seeing others and yourself more objectively and realistically. This starts the process of becoming more sober and connected with reality. Doing so empowers your ability to heal, to choose better relationships, and discover your own well-being and fulfillment.***The Annual Enrollment for the Codependency Healing System is OPEN. How I Nurture Emotional Safety And You Can, TooEmotional safety is an essential factor in creating and sustaining your ability to heal and thrive in your daily life - especially beyond codependency. What is emotional safety? It is knowing that your emotions are safe to acknowledge, feel, and care for AND they'll be cared for and supported by those around you, too. it is a you-and-others experience (also known as interdependent experience).Emotional safety is the first core focus I teach in the Codependency Healing System. We spend 10 weeks on it alone!Learn how I resource this in my life in today's episode!***The Annual Enrollment for the Codependency Healing System is OPEN. A huge Medicare Part D Update for 2020. This is very important for anyone that used Medicare’s Part D Plan Finder when shopping for their Medicare Part D plan for 2020. In October, Medicare decided to roll out a new and “improved” Part D Plan Finder on their website on October 1st, 2019 only two weeks before the Annual Enrollment period. Unfortunately, the information in the Plan Finder was found to be conflicting with the information from the Part D carriers. Zip codes were incorrect, pharmacies, the premiums but most importantly the costs of the medications. There were numerous errors with their system. Unfortunately, anyone that was shopping for their Part D plan without the assistance of an agent or broker wouldn’t know if there were errors in the system and took their information as gospel. This has resulted in many seniors with the wrong Part D plan. Luckily, Medicare has admitted the mistake and has allowed a Special Election Period under this specific circumstance. On Medicare’s website it reads: “If you believe you believe you made the wrong plan choice because of inaccurate or misleading information, including using Plan Finder, call 1-800-MEDICARE and explain your situation. Call center representatives can help you throughout the year with options for making changes.” You can find this information under this link to Medicare’s website: https://www.medicare.gov/sign-up-change-plans/when-can-i-join-a-health-or-drug-plan/special-circumstances-special-enrollment-periods Senior Healthcare Direct’s customer service agents have tested this SEP and it works! So please, if you feel that you have purchased the wrong Medicare Part D plan because of incorrect information on their Plan Finder, give Medicare a call and explain the situation to them and they will correct the mistake and put you on the Part D plan that’s best for you. A helpful tip during the Annual Enrollment period. This tip will help avoid confusion between you and your doctor’s office: As you’re shopping for a Medicare plan, it is very common that we ask our doctors which plans they accept. If you decide to go with a Medicare Advantage plan, if it very important to check with your provider to make sure that they accept the HMO or PPO plan of the carrier that you’re choosing. For example, if you were choosing and HMO plan with United Healthcare, you would call your doctor’s office and ask if they accepted the United Healthcare HMO Medicare Advantage Plan. Ninety percent of the time they will tell you yes or no and then you can proceed from there. If you are choosing a Medicare Supplement plan (Medigap plan), the ONLY question you need to ask your doctor is if they accept Original Medicare because there are no networks with Medicare Supplements. Medicare is the network. For example, if you decided to choose a Medicare Supplement Plan G with Mutual of Omaha, do not ask your doctor’s office if they accept Mutual of Omaha because what they will do is look up whether or not they accept Mutual of Omaha’s HMO or PPO plan. Simply ask your doctor if they accept Original Medicare because every provider that accepts Original Medicare will accept your Medicare Supplement regardless of the carrier.

When Congress passed the Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement, and Modernization Act of 2003, Medicare went through a huge change. Among other things, this act started the beginning of Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage. Since Medicare Supplements can no longer be sold with prescription drug coverage, the Medicare Supplement Plan G does not offer prescription drug coverage. The supplements all use stand-alone drug plans, Medicare Part D. The great thing about using a stand-alone drug plan is that you can shop for the drug plan that is the best value and covers your medications the best. Every Part D plan is different based on the medications you're taking at that time. There is no way to list an exact cost for these plans. The good thing is you can shop these plans every year during Annual Enrollment (starting Oct. 15th and ending Dec. 7th) and we do that for our clients every year as a service to them.
Each year, you have a chance to make changes to your Medicare Advantage or Medicare prescription drug coverage for the following year. This time frame is called the Annual Enrollment Period. Every year the Annual Enrollment starts on October 15th and ends on December 7th. Below is a list of all the changes you are allowed to make during this period. • Change from Original Medicare to a Medicare Advantage Plan. • Change from a Medicare Advantage Plan back to Original Medicare. • Switch from one Medicare Advantage Plan to another Medicare Advantage Plan. • Switch from a Medicare Advantage Plan that doesn't offer drug coverage to a Medicare Advantage Plan that offers drug coverage. • Switch from a Medicare Advantage Plan that offers drug coverage to a Medicare Advantage Plan that doesn't offer drug coverage. • Join a Medicare Prescription Drug Plan. • Switch from one Medicare drug plan to another Medicare drug plan. • Drop your Medicare prescription drug coverage completely.

David Broyles and Brandon Fox discuss Annual Enrollment and Benefits Discounts with Marsha Brock
The Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services, has recently announced the costs for Medicare in 2017. The one change that everyone is talking about is the increase to the Medicare Part B Premium. Last month, Social Security announced a .03% COLA for Social Security beneficiaries in 2017. With the COLA announcement, the hold harmless rule is in effect. This means if the social security COLA doesn’t cover the increase to the Medicare Part B base premium, those individuals who already have their Medicare Part B premium taken out of their Social Security benefit check will not see that deduction in their benefit check. The hold harmless individuals, who make up about 70% of all Medicare beneficiaries, won’t even come close to covering the $134.00 base Part B premium in 2017. The hold harmless protection will squeak out a Medicare Part B premium increase of about $109.00. The hold harmless rule does not protect individuals who: Are enrolling in Medicare Part B for the first time. Haven’t started receiving their Social Security Benefits and are enrolled in Medicare Part B. Are directly billed for their Medicare Part B premium Make an annual income of $85,000.00 or more Are enrolled in the Medicare Savings Program (States pay the new Medicare Premium increase). Are enrolled in Medicare and Medicaid, the State pays for the individual’s Medicare premiums. Individuals who are not protected by the hold harmless rule, and have an annual income of less than $85,000.00, will be paying a base Part B premium of a whopping $134.00 a month in 2017. Individuals with an annual income of more than $85,000.00, but less than $107,000.00, will pay a Part B premium of $107.50 a month. Individuals who earn an annual income between $107,000.00 and $160,000.00 will pay a monthly Part B premium of $243.60. Those who earn an annual income between $160,000.00 up to $214,000.00 will pay $316.70 a month premium for Medicare Part B. Finally, those individuals who earn an annual income of more than $214,000.00 will pay $389.80 a month. The Medicare Annual Enrollment Period is in full swing and allows Medicare Advantage enrollees the opportunity to voluntarily make plan changes, which are effective January 1, 2017. Individuals can make the following changes during the Annual Enrollment Period: Switch from one Medicare Advantage Plan to another Medicare Advantage Plan. Drop their Medicare Advantage Plan and go back to Original Medicare. Switch from a Stand-alone Prescription Drug Plan to a Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug Plan and vice versa. Go from Original Medicare onto a Medicare Advantage Plan. Stay with the Medicare Advantage Plan they currently have. Switch from a Medicare Supplement Plan to a Medicare Advantage Plan. Drop a Medicare Advantage Plan and enroll in a Medicare Supplement Plan (underwriting may apply). But according to a brief published by The Kaiser Family Foundation in September of 2016, from 2007 – 2014, only an average of 10% of Medicare Advantage enrollees voluntarily switched plans each year. (https://goo.gl/KqmCXL) In my experience, Medicare enrollees do not have enough resources to make informed decisions in selecting a Medicare plan for themselves. During the Annual Enrollment Period, people are bombarded with TV infomercials, newspaper ads, direct mail offerings and inaccurate advice from friends and family. Overwhelming information! So what is the answer for over 31% of Medicare beneficiaries on Medicare Advantage Plans during the Annual Enrollment Period? There are several options available. If you have a Medicare Advisor or Insurance Agent, who can offer you several different Medicare Advantage carriers in their portfolio – call them. It wouldn’t be in your best interest to contact an insurance agent, who works for only one Medicare insurance carrier. These agents are only able to offer you Medicare Advantage Plans from their one carrier. They will not have your best interest in mind. If they don’t enroll you in one of their plans, they won’t get paid. Using a Medicare Advisor or insurance agent, who has different Medicare carriers available to you, will have your best interest. They will help find you a Medicare plan that fits your unique needs. If you don’t personally know a Medicare Advisor or insurance agent, you can Google “Medicare Advisor + your town.” An example would be – Medicare Advisor Tampa, FL. Each State has a Department of Aging, with volunteers to assist you with your Medicare questions. Advise the representative that you’d like to speak with someone who is knowledgeable with the different Medicare Advantage Plans in your area and they will connect you with a person who is unbiased. Many States have educational seminars on Medicare at community Senior Centers. Ask if any will be in your area. Individuals can go onto the www.Medicare.gov website and use the plan finder database, but understand the information is not 100% complete. The Medicare Part B premium increase for 2017 is going to make many people anxious and frustrated. It is in your best interest to plan ahead and research your Medicare plan options at least three to four months prior to turning 65. If you are still employed and on an employer’s health insurance plan, compare your cost for your employer’s plan against Medicare plans. Don’t forget to calculate the Medicare Part B premium into your comparison. You can participate in a credible employer health plan and not have to enroll in Medicare Part B when you turn 65. In my experience, I have found over 80% of the time, a Medicare Supplement plan is more cost effective than the employer’s plan. The Medicare Supplement plan also provides the freedom to choose any physician in the United States, who is contracted with Medicare. Take your time and do your due diligence. “A stitch in time saves nine.” Properly preparing for your initial enrollment in Medicare and choosing a Medicare plan that fits your unique needs, will save you the aggravation and possibly making a poor financial and health coverage decision.
