Just when I thought I was done looking after the numerous Turtle Beach and SteelSeries ones I was sent, here comes another challenger with the Audeze Maxwell Wireless Gaming Headset that's hands down one of the best I've used.

In this conversation, Shankar, the co-founder and CEO of Audeze, discusses life after the acquisition by Sony's PlayStation division and the company's approach to designing headphones for gaming and pro audio. He highlights the importance of collaboration with studios and artists in creating high-quality products. Shankar also talks about the advantage of being early in spatial audio technology and how Audeze continues to improve in this area. He explains the significance of customizing sound with Reveal Plus and shares some insights into the company's future plans and upcoming products. Takeaways Audeze is an independent subsidiary of Sony's PlayStation division, continuing to make its own audio file and gaming products under its own branding. The company collaborates closely with studios and artists to ensure their headphones meet the needs of professionals in the industry. Being early in spatial audio technology has given Audeze an advantage, and they continue to work on improving spatial audio experiences. The Reveal Plus plugin allows users to customize the sound to their specific ears, enhancing the mixing experience. Audeze's Co-Founder & CEO, Sankar Thiagasamudram, joins eCoustics Senior Headphone & Portables Editor William Jennings and Producer (and Audeze Artist) Mitch Anderson to discuss its 16 year journey as an innovator in the global Head-Fi revolution.Founded in 2008 as a boutique audiophile brand, Audeze's first concept was a loudspeaker which never came to market. However, early innovations with planar magnetic technology led to the release of their first headphone, the LCD-1 for $600 — making it one of the most expensive headphones available in 2008. All 25 models sold, which led to the release of the LCD-2 in 2009 and LCD-3 in 2011. Both models became award-winning benchmarks for headphone design and turned what was a cottage industry aimed exclusively at high-end headphone listeners into a billion dollar segment. Audeze's success also created opportunities for its competitors to expand into the planar magnetic category, forcing the brand to push the envelope with state-of-the-art professional monitoring headphones, electrostatic headphones for the medical industry, and innovative gaming headphones that attracted the attention of Sony Interactive Entertainment which purchased the company last year -- exposing the brand to a much larger mainstream global audience and giving it a growing customer base for the future. Nearly all of Audeze's products are hand-made in Costa Mesa, CA, including all LCD and MM series headphones and the Playstation headset drivers.Sankar takes us on a journey through Audeze's history and reveals interesting insights about the company's history, headphone manufacturing, and their path ahead. For more information on Audeze please visit https://www.audeze.comFor details and related links, visit: https://www.ecoustics.com/podcasts/audeze-sankar/This episode is brought to you in part by Audeze Artists, The Source of Light & Power. For anyone over 18 and who has any interest or especially if you love music, here is our first episode with an Explicit tag and not for the kiddies, but it just flowed naturally that we are releasing it as is (We are running it live). If there are kids in the car with you, you may want to listen to this episode later. In a long overdue Way Off Our Topic (WOOT) episode, we are joined by a special guest Christian James Hand who has a tremendous way to break down music into its component tracks (also called Stems) during his shows to demonstrate the individual components that are combined into the finished song. Our description does not do justice to his amazing style and presentation that he puts together. If you are even the slightest bit interested in music or ever were, we would hope that you would listen to one of his live shows on Instagram or to one of the podcasts he has and allow Christian to give you one of the greatest gifts that we know of. Christian's "The Session" breakdowns give you the ability to hear a song for the first time all over again! We hope you enjoy the episode! Best regards, Bill, Vicki, Jennifer, and Alan Hosts of the Garage Heroes In Training podcast and team members in the GHiT Immature Endurance Racing Team Highlights from the episode include: 1) A short bit about touring with PM Dawn Peter Gabriel, The Grave Diggers and RZA and an acapella rendition of "Jam On It" by Newcleus on stage in front of tens of thousands live and broadcast over Swedish radio 2) Business tips, including do not buy a company blimp 3) Working on music videos including "Hey Ya" by the Outkast and several Def Leppard videos as well as Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn's "Dodgeball: An Underdog Story" movie. 4) An upcoming podcast where he breaks down music with the cooperation of and with Universal Music 5) Benny cannot seem to count to six, lol. 6) Another special guest appearance by his Funko Pop "Odd Job" 7) How music is made and how it has progressed to where it is now 8) How Christian approaches music and how the song creation process in incorporated into his live song breakdown shows. 9) The incredible opportunity Christian has when being able to unpainting a painting when he dissects the song to its original moments and components and stories. 10) How sometimes the simplest songs are often some of the most complex tapestries to weave. 11) Incredible music recording history and stories 12) How digital processing, Pro Tools, and over-processing has impacted modern music and removed much of the humanity of current recordings. 13) What is groove and what is pocket? 14) The Gadd-Weckl-Colaiuta Drum Showdown is found at: https://youtu.be/K7h6hOs_ySw 15) Some of the fantastic songs to breakdown that came to mind during our discussion and are well worth listening to again, for the first time, especially for the songs that have almost become musical "wall paper" or have faded into the status of background music. 16) Christian's rock band member breakdown is hilarious, every single time. 17) I think Christian nearly broke Vicki when he discussed his inability to listen to music while "occupied" 18) Some highlighted drum tracks, bass tracks, and guitar tracks that came to mind and are some of the cannot miss episodes. 19) His thoughts on concerts in general and the Counting Crows performing Mr. Jones in specific. 20) What Christian feels are the root masterpieces for rock music after the Beatles catalogue. You can hear Christian James Hand break down songs at a variety of places online including: At "The Sessions On Air" on Instagram at 11 AM Pacific or 2 PM Eastern on Instagram @thesessiononair Podcasts such as: The Session Heide and Frank Show weekly on Mondays And try to catch him at a live show once they are able to resume. Hey 19 Happy 19 Intrepid 19 Here's to you and me in the new year. Let's GO! I'm kicking this annual run of shows in the stars with a chat with the chap that goes by the name of Juro Mez Davis. Starting as an MC in NYC and learning the ropes by pure graft and hands on MAKING with some intense folk (like MF doom) this guy can make a mix bump. We get into his come up and the work he does with Hip Hop legend J Cole! Yes indeed Thanks to Audeze for making the connection and providing stupidly good headphones. KOD by J Cole was MASTERED on the Audeze phones! craziness. In the nitty gritty I get into exploring a modified cassette deck as an echo. It's a wonderful and wobbly ride! Thanks to Scott Campbell for his ingenious crafting and toil. It's a total treat to work with n n n n n n nineteen!
Episode No. 4: From the original LCD-1 driver to a full lineup of planar-magnetic headphones, Audeze’s meteoric rise as one of personal audio’s premium headphone makers has been undeniably impressive in the crowded space of the market. Always the innovator, Audeze’s CEO Sankar Thiagasamudram has led the company through many of the industry's firsts – Lightning cable, wafer-thin diaphragms and now in to the gaming sector with the DSP-oriented Mobius headphone. Sankar sits down with us to discuss the company’s short but interesting history and what it takes to create your own North Star and stay the path, regardless of any hurdles you may find along the way.
Hello and welcome an American hero. Larry Crane! The man deserves a standing ovation. Just imagine interviewing peoples for 22 years. Giving a platform to the unsung experts that make all this amazing art alongside fascinating portraits of the household names. Larry has been producing one the most beloved audio publications around. TapeOp! Wiki tells me that the first issues were published by photocopying, hand-stapling and spray painting the covers. Look how far it's come! Larry came by the house and interviewed me for the tapeop podcast and mag (major honour) https://tapeop.com/podcasts/ After our chat we let the tapes continue to roll and I had a good ole fashioned ramble with the man. He's got anecdotes for years. 22 years. It's surreal doing this show. I feel mighty lucky to get to hang with such distinguished folk. Thank you Larry! Thank you also to Audeze for their sponsorship of todays show. Damn those LCD headphones are rather amazing. Even if you have a decent room with treatment these headphones can reveal hidden details. The transient response alone is hard to match in speaker land. I love tech that is new AND incredible. These headphones might allow you to leave the conventional studio behind. Yep! in a Biweek dudes.

Alex Rosson is a legend in the music business, having founded one of the world’s best headphone brands, Audeze, and is now responsible for starting up a new audio division for Detroit based watch and lifestyle brand, Shinola. I met up with Alex at the famous Village recording studios in West Los Angeles. The Village has been home to most of the greatest names in rock, from The Doors to Guns N’ Roses, Coldplay to Lady Gaga. The room we recorded this interview in was the same used to produce the classic album, Aja by Steely Dan. Alex and I talked about the origins of digital cinema, the rise of the head-fi movement, why listening to analogue music is good for you, and his plans for the launch of Shinola Audio. Listen out for the fun cameo from Alex’s uncle (the owner of the studio) and who makes a grand entrance at the end of the interview.
