In which our heroes jump into the way back machine and talk about their childhood (and adult) favorite Star Wars. And even though it was written in the 70's Charles refused to betray his inner child and had nary a negative thing to say about it. Then they talk about everyone's favorite superhero Batman Zero Year and Jav damns it with his most vicious scorn “It was good just not great”.Star Wars Written by Roy Thomas and Archie Goodwin Art by Howard Chaykin and Carmine InfantinoBatman Zero Year Written by Scott Snyder and James Tynion IV Art by Greg Capullo, Danny Miki, and Rafael Albuquerque

Episode 89Become a Patron!Greetings, Explorers! After a short break due to our co-host Johnny being tied up with up a semester of school, we're back with some new-ish episodes (we recorded the next couple of episodes at the beginning of the year). We're kicking off the rest of our season with Batman: Zero Year. Published by DC comics the story in 2013. Scott Snyder and James Tynion IV wrote the story, with art by Greg Capullo.Set within DC's New 52 Universe, Batman: Zero Year is a new telling of the early days of Batman's career. Additionally, it wraps up Snyder and Capullo's run on Batman comics.Aubrey, Dennis, and Johnny starts things off chatting about Batman: Year Zero's connection to Batman: Last Knight on Earth, which we reviewed in Episode 81. Next, they discuss if Batman stories even need to be told at this point. Finally, they look at the Batman Eggs (Batman + Easter Eggs) in the story. Additional topics include Jim Gordon's coat; the Robin who isn't a Robin, wears a Batman symbol, but isn't a Batman either; the sexual tension between two of the characters (and it's not who you'd expect it to be); finding the time to move to Metropolis; "That rubbed me the right way"; and last, but not certainly not least, the storytelling and art of Batman: Year Zero. In celebration of the release of the new Batman movie, The Batman, we've dubbed this month Bat March and we'll be talking about a Batman comic book or movie every week this month! This week we're talking about Batman: Zero Year written by Scott Snyder and art by Greg Capullo. Was this Batman run the best title in DC's New 52? Does it hit the Batman g-spot? Should you suspend your disbelief while reading Batman? Does being a Batman fan get you off of jury duty? What previous Batman stories does Zero Year pay homage to? Is Gotham a blimp city? Did Bruce Wayne choose a life of misery over a life of ponnani? Plus, does Anthony have a narc in his building? Is Cody trying to take the podcast off of Spotify? What's the only difference between Jake and Batman? What if The Riddler tried to take over New Jersey while Tony Soprano was in charge? Are we smart enough to solve any of The Riddler's riddles? And who is the bigger agent of CHAOS: Jake or Cody?! Check out our new website: https://www.comicsandchronic.com/ New episodes every THURSDAY Follow us on social media! On this episode of X-Ray Vision, Jason Concepcion and Rosie Knight send up the Bat Signal! First in Previously On (2:47), Jason and Rosie discuss a casting in Sony's Kraven, the imminent arrival of Netflix's Marvel shows (and of course Agents of Shield) on Disney+, how Hollywood is reacting to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, and what some newly released funko pops might tell us about Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. In the Airlock (13:24) Jason and Rosie dive deep (deeeep) into Matt Reeves' The Batman, discussing what sets the film apart from previous iterations, why it's so good, and offering a variety of recommendations for folks to read, watch, and play after they see The Batman (55:28). In this chapter of the Omnibus (1:25:05), Jason explores science-fiction's relationship with war and vice versa. In the Hive Mind (1:37:29), Jason and Rosie are joined by comedian and podcaster Pete Holmes to discuss The Batman and in the Endgame (1:52:32), Jason and Rosie pick the craziest villain from Batman's Rogues Gallery to see in a future Batman installment. Hey DC Nationites! On this week's episode of the DC Nation Podcast, Dan & Michael have a lot for you!!! First off, the guys cover FOREVER EVIL: ROUGES REBELLION #2 which not only ties into Forever Evil #3, but will tie into Forever Evil: Arkham War as well... The boys talk about the Rouges, Mirror Master taking charge(?), Parasite, Poison Ivy, Captain Cold, The Flash TV series, and more! However, the main event of this episode seems to be more coverage on the BATMAN: ZERO YEAR tie-ins! This week, the tie-in talk includes coverage of the 25th issues of Batgirl, Batwoman, Birds of Prey, Green Lantern Corps, Nightwing, and Red Hood & the Outlaws! The dynamic duo talk Beware the Batman connections, various Black Canary origins, how much they love John Stewart, how Kate Kane and Bruce Wayne are related, Dick Grayson's young heroics, and Jason Todd & the Joker! But that's not all as the guys don't forget to promote YOUNG JUSTICE: LEGACY! The long-anticipated Young Justice video game, that bridges the 5 year gap between Season 1 and Season 2 of the incredible animated series, is out now! Fans of DC Nation, DC Comics, our podcast, and most certainly Young Justice should make buying this game (and playing it of course) a priority as it may eventually help resurrect the show in some form. All this and more on this week's DC Nation Podcast!
In this episode Dylan and Bryant are joined by Seattle comics guru Christopher Butcher! Greetings and salutations DC Nationites! I am in a heroicly boastful mood today as we escaped the destruction of Krypton, investigated the streets of Gotham City, navigated Space Sector 666 and battled alongside the Justice League to create one of the biggest DC Nation Podcast Adventures of 2013. And in the words of Aquaman from Batman: The Brave and the Bold, we are going to call it… Dan and Michael's Rousing Coverage of Comic Con 2013!!! Yes, it's finally here old chums, our coverage of everything to do with DC Comics at Comic Con 2013, most notably the variety of panels where writers and artists discussed what's to come in our favorite DC Comic Books. However, covering the panels was really just a guideline as Michael and I used this episode as an opportunity to lay all of our opinions regarding our favorite superhero characters in their current state out onto the table. In fact, our conversation got so in-depth we had to divide this podcast into two parts with the first installment, which is a part of this blog post covering the DC Comics: All Access, DC Digital, Justice League: Trinity War and The New 52 Panels as well as featuring a discussion on my fears about Marvel's debut of the Superior Spider-Man (Dr. Octopus possessing Spider-Man's) having negative effects on future DC stories. Then with the second part it becomes a little more character focused as we discuss the Batman: Zero Year, Green Lantern Recharged!, Superman: The New 52 Era and DC Comics: Meet the Co-Publishers Panels while throwing in our thoughts on The World's Finest movie. So with my assurance that this isn't the trap of a dastardly villain, I ask you the question are you a man who is going to let one of the greatest comic book conversations I've had with Michael pass you by or are you a Superman who will embrace your inner geek by listening to this entire episode?

Hello all of you who have been anxiously awaiting this latest episode of ATA's DC Nation Podcast! We're sorry that it took so long, but both Dan and myself had a lot going on and we weren't able to work on this episode as much. Anyway, on this week's episode, Dan and I cover one of the greatest Batman epics of this generation, if not of all-time: BATMAN: DEATH OF THE FAMILY. We go through this story play-by-play where we talk about the tie-in's, including Batgirl, Catwoman, Suicide Squad, Nightwing, Teen Titans, Red Hood & the Outlaws, Detective Comics, and of course Scott Snyder's Batman! We also discuss the Joker and his possible New 52 origin, as well as how we feel about Batman: Zero Year! And, on the note of DoTF, we also go into in depth discussion about Grant Morrison's ROBIN R.I.P. story (in Batman Incorporated #8) and go deep into our feelings about Grant Morrison's Batman, Batman Inc., and Action Comics. And don't worry fans of Bryan Q. Miller's Smallville Season 11, because we also cover "Valkyrie" - Part 1 where we talk about Lois Lane and Lana Lang! All this and more on this week's DC Nation Podcast!
