During the most recent adventure of Little Kids, Big Hearts, "Fairness with Vella Lovell and Meredith Holzman," three kids — Bodhi, Aubrey, and Will — travel with LKBH host Todd Loyd to the Land of Qook-a-lackas to help two Qook-a-lacka friends "qook-a-late" to retsore fairness to the Land. Today, we're back to challenge our listeners to go on their own FAIRNESS QUEST, inspired by the episode and the words/actions of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. — whose legacy of justice, equality, and human rights we celebrated this week. Todd and LKBH Producer Christy Pusz Decatur issue our first-ever challenge our listeners to (1) notice something that seems unfair, (2) think about ways to help, and then (3) take action to help someone else feel included, valued, or supported. This is our first-ever challenge episode, and we'd be overjoyed if our listeners could take a moment to share how their families interpreted the fairness quest with a few words or a picture! You can share on instagram (@little_kids_big_hearts_podcast), facebook (@LittleKidsBigHeartsPodcast), or just email us: podcast@playsparkler.org. Following the MISSION, turn up the volume and sing/dance along to a brand-new Little Kids, Big Hearts original song: When Something's Unfair. It's written by amazing educator/composer Benjamin Weiner and performed with Benjamin PLUS Vella Lovell, who played Principal Quella in our fairness episode. Vella currently appears on the Fox comedy Animal Control alongside Joel McHale as “Emily.” Other credits include Mr. Mayor, Crazy Ex Girlfriend, Accused, A Clüsterfünke Christmas, She Ra And the Princesses of Power, Kiff, The Big Sick, Dollface, Girls, Younger, Grace and Frankie, As We See It, Your Place or Mine. Tune in as Seth Vargas (Movie Friends) teams up with Arthur to break down As We See It, the 2022 Prime Video series that revolves around a trio of autistic mid-20s roommates who are trying to figure out their lives and gain independence. Talking points that the hosts bring up on this episode include the series being cringey in a good way, the uneven arc of Aaron Eckhart's career, and doing away with unnecessary social customs like the one where people say “can I ask you a question?” before asking the question itself. Created by Jason Katims, As We See It stars Rick Glassman, Albert Rutecki, Sue Ann Pien, Sosie Bacon, Chris Pang, Joe Mantegna, Délé Ogundiran, Vella Lovell, Tal Anderson, Alyssa Jirrels, Adan James Carrillo, Casey Mills, David Futernick, and Andrew Duff.

The show follows three roommates on the autism spectrum, as they strive to get and keep jobs, make friends, fall in love, and navigate the strange world of adulthood in a world that eludes them. Through her journey of understanding what it means to be on the autism spectrum, Sue Ann Pien has welcomed a greater acceptance of what makes her unique, and the freedom to express that. She followed her myriad dreams through Hollywood and beyond, having worked with Academy and Emmy award winners, presented for a Nobel Laureate and U.S. Secretary of State on climate change solutions, and even gained global attention as a Mars One candidate. Rick Glassman is a Los Angeles-based stand-up comedian, writer, and actor, Glassman's notable credits include a leading role in the NBC ensemble sitcom, Undateable, as well as playing Harold Ramis in David Wain's National Lampoon biopic, A Futile and Stupid Gesture. He also wrote, directed, and starred in an award-winning five-episode series, The Sixth Lead, based on his experience starring on Undateable. Before joining As We See It, Albert Ruteck appeared in the web series Aged Fruit. As an adolescent, Rutecki was diagnosed on the autism spectrum, and is excited to portray those characters authentically. Visit http://g.co/TalksAtGoogle/AsWeSeeIt to watch the video.

Zucchini Marmalade yields 5 half pint jars 4 Cups zucchini, peels left on, seeds removed and coarsely ground 2 oranges, ground with peel 5 Cups sugar Mix all ingredients well. Cover and let stand 8 hours. Bring mixture to a boil in a non-reactive pot and let stand another 8 hours (or longer if needed). Add juice of one lemon (2 Tbsp). Boil to jelly stage. Pour into sterilized jelly jars leaving 1/4 inch head space. Process 10 minutes, adjusting accordingly for altitude. Cooks Note: I prefer to use a food grinder to prep the squash and orange but have also used a food processor. With the processor you have to watch out for larger chunks of fruit. On this week's entertainment-themed Round 2, we wrapped up the (first?) season of As We See It with "Please Don't Leave." Everything's coming up Douglas, and Mandy manages to patch things up with Harrison after he learns about his parents' plans. If the show comes back, we'd like more roommate stories and less focus on the neurotypical drama, please. On The Gilded Age, it's nothing but neurotypical drama in "Irresistible Change" as Tom and Marian have a secret meeting, Turner gets fired, Gladys finally gets to grow up, and George is possibly on the hook for manslaughter (plus, there's drama in Catherine's house which you may overhear). Next week, we'll watch the final two episodes of this season: "Tucked Up in Newport" and "Let the Tournament Begin."
In this episode of Personally Speaking, Msgr. Jim Lisante is joined once again by veteran actor Joe Mantegna for part two of his interview. Joe has had a long, successful career that spans nearly fifty years and 150 credits, from “The Money Pit” and “Three Amigos” to “The Simpsons” and “Criminal Minds”. His latest project is the new Amazon series “As We See It”. The series follows three young adults on the autism spectrum as they maneuver through life and try to fit into society. Joe plays the father of one of the characters, Jack. Joe's own daughter Mia is on the autism spectrum and it's his personal experience that made him feel a deep emotional connection to this role. Joe talks about his own experience, his life, his career, his family and the values that matter most to him.Support the show (http://closeencountertv.com/cetvdonate.asp)
On this week's entertainment-themed Round 2: As We See It's 6th episode, "Fear Is My Bitch," once again found us lamenting some bad, bad decisions and choices (but at least Joe Mantegna's character is still alive). Next: "Outed."On The Gilded Age (episode 5, "Charity Has Two Functions"), there are more lamentable choices, but also more extremely elaborate gowns and hats. Next: "Heads Have Rolled for Less."
Since 2010, there have been at least three dozen significant autistic characters in feature films and four dozen autistic characters in literary fiction. And, of course, we've also seen more autistics on series television. “The Good Doctor,” “Atypical,” and Amazon's new series “As We See It” are just three quick examples of series with autistic lead characters. Today we will be discussing the new feature film Tyson's Run with writer-director Kim Bass and the film's star, Major Dodson. Tyson's Run follows fifteen-year-old autistic Tyson Hollerman as he attends public school for the first time. While helping his father, the school's head football coach, clean up during the team's practice, Tyson befriends champion marathon runner Aklilu. Tyson becomes determined to run his first marathon in hopes of winning his father's approval. Tyson's Run will open in theatres on March 11, 2022. Tyson's Run website: https://tysonsrun.com Major Dodson - Tyson Hollerman MAJOR DODSON is best known for his role of Sam Anderson on AMC's International smash hit series “The Walking Dead.” Other projects include LEFT BEHIND, “American Horror Story,” and “Revolution.” Dodson is currently featured in the inspirational drama TYSON'S RUN in theaters Spring 2022. Dodson currently resides in Los Angeles, Calif. Kim Bass - Writer & Director Bass is an Emmy-nominated screenplay and teleplay writer best known for his work on “In Living Color,” “Sister, Sister” and the Nickelodeon sitcom “Kenan & Kel.” During his over twenty-five year career, Bass has worked as a writer for almost all of the major Hollywood studios and television networks as well as many prominent and independent film and television production companies including: Warner Brothers Studios; Twentieth Century Fox Studios; Disney Studios; Sony Pictures Studios and others. Currently, Bass is in post-production on his latest film, HeadShop, and pre-production on a faith-based Christmas film, Mother Johnson's Miracle Christmas, scheduled to begin principal photography in the spring of 2022.
On this week's entertainment-themed Round 2: As We See It episode 5, "Ever Had an Edible?" pushed all of Terri's mom-of-kids-with special needs buttons, and she has a few choice words for Jack's aunt, Julia the French fry guy, and most especially Harrison's mother. Next: Episode 6, "Fear Is My Bitch."Over on The Gilded Age's "The Long Ladder," everyone was much better behaved, even when they were being racist and hitting on their bosses and just generally acting clueless. Next: Episode 5, "Charity Has Two Functions."

Rick enquires about their Amazon audition process, how they came to be actors, and what Albert said to Elizabeth Warren on his recent trip to Los Angeles. Sue Ann shares some vulnerabilities and how shooting the show helped her connect better with her family. All the while, Albert's sunglass-ed alter ego comes out to play. "Daddy" Rick shares some "unwritten rules" he's compiled as a sort of cheatsheet for making your way through the world-- especially if you're neuro-divergent. Albert confesses to some struggles of his own as they all bond over strategies and tools that they've learnt from being on the spectrum, and having to navigate a neuro-typical world. On this week's entertainment-themed Round 2, we returned to As We See It with episode 2, "I Apologize for My Words and Actions." We continue to be most interested in the lives and challenges of the three roommates, and less so in their caregivers (except you, Joe Mantegna). Next: "When Violet Met Douglas" (episode 3).We also pivoted from Abbott Elementary to The Gilded Age (quite a 180) with episode 1, "Never the New." It's an escapist joy to watch beautiful people in beautiful rooms wearing beautiful clothes scoff about New Money. Next: "Money Isn't Everything" (episode 2).
Amazon's new series, “As We See It,” follows three roommates who are on the autism spectrum, played by actors who experience it in real life. Polls show Californians want officials to take faster action to get people off the streets and provide them with the help they need. Those feelings are similar across age, political affiliation, and race. UC Berkeley might have to cut the size of its incoming freshman class, as a judge has sided with a neighborhood group accusing the university of exacerbating homelessness. When the mayor of the Israeli Arab town of Jatt canceled the performance of a play featuring the voices of women murdered by their husbands, claiming it 'disrespected Islam', feminist activist Samah Salaime refused to stay silent. On Haaretz Weekend, Salaime – a leading voice in the struggle against violence against women in the Arab community – tells host Allison Kaplan Sommer that in her view, the cancellation of the play was a form of “oppression.” “We can't, as Palestinians, say that we want freedom of speech and movement, we want to be equal in a democratic state, but we don't want this voice to be heard,” she said, pointing to other recent troubling examples of limiting women's freedom in Israel's Arab community. “The conservative fundamental agenda of religious people is taking over and this is a dangerous thing for us,” she added. Also on this episode, Haaretz television critic Adrian Hennigan reviews the two latest Israeli hit shows to receive English-language reboots: “Suspicion” on Apple TV+ and “As We See It” on Amazon Prime, and takes a deep dive into the global phenomenon the Israeli television industry has become. We discuss Euphoria and As We See It, two shows about the pains of growing up. 02:53 HBO teen drama Euphoria is inarguably a huge cultural force, especially among younger generations — but is it any good? 21:52 As We See It, streaming on Amazon Prime Video, is one of the few genuinely terrific shows about people with autism and the loved ones in their orbit. 39:00 Plus, culture notes about Rosamund Pike's running streak of strange taste in projects. On this week's entertainment-themed Round 2, we checked out two new TV series and enjoyed them both--but will only continue watching one of them: As We See It, which resolves around three neurodivergent characters who live together as roommates. It can be painful to see the cruelty they experience, but it's also funny and warm and very well-acted. Mentioned: A sibling caregiver story on Once and Again, discussed on the Extra Hot Great podcast [https://www.extrahotgreat.com/392]; actor Rick Glassman (who plays Jack on As We See It) on Undateable [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jiuWDWbDu_E]; discussion forum about the show on Wrong Planet [https://wrongplanet.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=400783]; the Parks and Recollection podcast [https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/parks-and-recollection/id1583327243].We also watched the new sitcom Abbott Elementary, which is cute and funny and sweet and not something Catherine can ever watch again, because the handheld camera work gave her a migraine. Instead, we'll check out The Gilded Age, Julian Fellowes' new show on HBO Max, in which people sit quietly in drawing rooms and would never dream of allowing a handheld camera in their midst. So next week: As We See It, episode 2, "I Apologize for My Words and Actions," and The Gilded Age, episode 1, "Never the New."

On this week's entertainment-themed Round 2, we took a week off from TV and watched two movies: The Tender Bar (2021) and Up in the Air (2009). Both were enjoyable character studies, even if they were also very "Man has Man Problems." And speaking of enjoyable characters, George Clooney stars in Up in the Air and directed The Tender Bar. Next week, we're going to check out the pilots of two new TV series and consider whether to continue with one or both: As We See It (on Amazon Prime) and Abbott Elementary (on ABC/Hulu). If you have strong feelings about either, let us know!
Lehrt "As We See It" mehr Empathie?

En effet, As We See It est une revisite de On the Spectrum produite par Yes Studio.

Sosie Bacon returns and this time has back up! In the form of a Tigerbelly fan favorite… Jenna Jiménez! The two ladies take to the couch and immediately feel unsure about the prospect of their performance, or lack thereof. Rick wants to discuss working with Sosie on “As We See It” while she wants to dive into why Rick intimidated her so much, and they ponder if the show (4 years in the making) will actually ever get released. While reminiscing about missing each other on set, they debate if show creator Jason Katims ("Parenthood", "Friday Night Lights") will ever let them have dialogue together again. Jenna comes baring gifts which you can find at https://www.rickglassman.com/sleepoverbyesther! Then the girls analyse Rick and whether or not he's too hard to understand and what Jenna specifically feels about her first introduction to our host. Throw is some Sandy Danto stories, Kevin Bacon mythbusting, Rick's big stunt, and wardrobe changes and you've got a solid TYSO episode.
