That's right, we've got the whole gang -- Jimmy Palmiotti, Amanda Conner, Brian Pulido, and Billy Tucci -- talking about their currently Kickstarting project, The Deadly Trio: Doomsayer. We talk about how the four pals met, the characters they each created, how they co-wrote issue #1, all those variant covers, and the rest of the creative team, including artist Adrianna Melo, colorist Giuliano Peratelli, and letterer Marshall Dillon. It's a smorgasbord of fun!Check out and back The Deadly Trio #1 here: http://kck.st/4fDqeD3. Support the show
The man, the myth, the father of Shi: that's right, it's Billy Tucci! Billy and Shi crashed onto the comics scene in 1994, and they never looked back. For the first dozen years, it was all about the half-Japanese, naginata-wielding woman warrior and her solo and crossover adventures. And crossovers there were: with Avengelyne, Gen-13, Cyblade, Daredevil, Grifter, Vampirella, Lady Death, and Wolverine, just to name a few! Billy eventually branched out to other publishers, working on Heroes for Hire at Marvel, and Jonah Hex, Birds of Prey, Harley Quinn, and Sgt. Rock: The Lost Battalion for DC. Now, for her 30th anniversary, he's putting together the craziest Shi book yet, the multiverse-spanning Shi: Gatecrasher. You can still get Billy's latest, Rocketeer: Pavlichenko Special Art Edition, on Indiegogo here: https://igg.me/at/SHISECONDCOMING/x#/. And you can follow Billy on his site, billytucci.com, or on Instagram @billy_tucci and X @BillyTucci. _____________________Check out a video version of this episode on our YouTube channel: youtube.com/dollarbinbandits.If you like this podcast, please rate, review, and subscribe on Apple Podcasts. Mindfielders! (just like a Zordon!) Em Offers..Mftees….whatever the hell you wanna calll yourselves but as long as you keep listening. Our first episode past our bicentennial (200 issues total, 100 of comics) is sure to rattle you. Did you know that we got a wrestling swerve inside the very pages of Daredevil? New Baddies! We didn't know that it was Typhoid Mary the whole time and now they are giving us more Durdenesque twists (yeah yeah..what a twist!) Billy Tucci's Shi Kickstarter is going strong so dont forget to support it same for the Hack/Slash Omnibus 2. Remember we are looking into WHY these comics are good. Not just cause some asshole sucker punched some other asshole in a heroic fashion. Also HOLY FUCKING SHIT The Suicide Squad was good! Why should you have a responsibility in your writing and not accidentally inspire some terrorists to follow your plan exactly? Our Resident Badass Tony Morales digs deep on the comparison to AEW and WCW. Texas-raised Mandy Amano became "the face that launched 1,000 websites" after her Pepsi commercial premiered during the Super Bowl. This led to appearances in MAXIM, countless online magazines, blogs, and comic books -- most notably SHI and RONIN HOOD OF THE 47 SAMURAI. A genre girl at heart, some of her favorite roles have been starring as "O," the ultimate modern femme fatale, in the neo-noir thriller PROXY KILL; the fierce and fiery fighter pilot “Oujo” in SQUADRON (still in production); and “Thalia,” the little but lethal Black Ops vampire, in BLOOD SOLDIERS. She landed a pivotal role when Academy Award-winning writer/director Steven Ayromlooi cast her as “Princess Kyoko” opposite the mighty Evan Parke in film festival/comic con phenomenon THE SUN DEVIL AND THE PRINCESS, which racked up a show-stopping 20 awards -- including two Best Actress wins for her portrayal of the strong yet ethereal princess. Next up is the dream role of “Minako” in two-time Golden Globe, five-time Emmy Award nominee, and legendary Broadway director Robert Allan Ackerman and Sohee Park's neo-noir dark comedy, KOREATOWN, which is being developed as a feature film directed by Steven Ayromlooi. Described as "Audrey Hepburn ... who could kick your ass” by SHI creator Billy Tucci, Amano is very passionate about representation in media, particularly for her fellow Asian/Eurasian brothers and sisters. Frustrated with the lack of opportunity for Asian actors, Amano decided to take her destiny into her own hands and create her own projects. Amano has written a streaming pilot called ULTIMATE GIRL & JO -- a superhero buddy story about two women, Sarina and Jo, who learn that friendship is the real superpower and that, sometimes, saving the world means saving each other. Always having had a heartstring for those who embody the warrior spirit ~ and, taking great pride in her Japanese American paternal grandfather Robert Kiyoto Amano, a WW2 veteran who was part of the Military Intelligence Service (MIS) ~ it made perfect sense that on September 12, 2014 at the “Cycle for Heroes” fundraising event for The Heroes Project (THP), a spark (more like a fire) would ignite within Amano for what would become one of her deepest passions... honoring and supporting the lives of our nation’s heroes when they come home. She continues to be as active as she can with THP and also holds dear several other veteran organizations: Final Salute Inc and their Ms. Veteran America Competition, Rock to Recovery, VME (Veterans in Media & Entertainment), Homes for Our Troops, Warrior Foundation Freedom Station, Heroes & Horses, and VETPAW, to name a few.

Last week Ethan Nicolle, the artist on Appalachian Apocalypse! (Cave Pictures) was my guest. This episode the writer of the series Billy Tucci is in the spotlight. How is Billy’s zombie story different in terms of the plague’s origin and how faith is connected to the means to fight it? Who is the stories hero and how does his faith play a role? We talk no only about it but also, mostly notably Sgt. Rock The Lost Battalion (DC) for which Billy was bestowed a special ambassadorship. We will reflect upon his creator-owned property Shi that celebrates 25 years. Her next story is coming this spring through a Kickstarter Billy will launch for Return of The Warrior. You can get a taste of Shi: Return of The Warrior by pledging for the exclusive ash can only available through Billy’s current Kickstarter Zombie Sama, running now until March 1st. The project has already met its initial funding and 1st stretch level goals! You may have heard of the animated series Ax Cop, which ran for two seasons between Fox and FXX. Today’s guest Ethan Nicolle, who conceived of the comic playing with its co-creator Ethan’s little brother Malachi. I discuss with Ethan how Ax Cop went viral on the Internet, and lead to its Dark Horse comic book and animated television series. What is the connection between Ax Cop and Ethan’s first web comic, Bearmageddon? And how did Blake Snyder’s Save The Cat and Ethan's own analysis of films including, Shaun of the Dead, help him to refine the story structure of Bearmageddon? Ethan is currently illustrating Appalachian Apocalypse! written by Shi creator Billy Tucci and published through Cave Pictures. Billy was not available to be on the show with Ethan to discuss Appalachian Apocalypse! During the Kicking Back With The Creator segment, Ethan takes his best guest at what Billy does for R&R, his favorite birthday, what posters were in his room during middle school, his island book, beverage of choice, and action figure accessory. We also find out Ethan's answers these questions plus: the oddest job he ever had and, in his humble opinion, the best film ever made.
