The WDW Radio Show - Your Walt Disney World Information Station
WDW Radio # 757 - The Voice of Mickey Mouse, Bret Iwan, and History of The Partners Statue - from the WDW Radio Archives To celebrate Mickey Mouse's birthday on November 18, I will take what Walt Disney said to heart and not lose sight of one thing... "that it was all started by a mouse." This week, we'll remember just that, as I have two segments from the WDW Radio that both involve Mickey Mouse. First, we'll venture into Magic Kingdom, and explore not an attraction, land, shop or show, but a single location. In fact, a single statute. In our DSI: Disney Scene Investigation, Jim Korkis and I look at the history and story behind the iconic Partners statue of Walt and Mickey. The legacy of and bond between Walt and Mickey goes far beyond one of simply artist and creation. In fact, Walt actually lent his voice to his most famous work. Over the years, Walt passed that torch to other men who became the voice of Mickey, and this week, I want to share my conversation with Bret Iwan, the man who eighty years after Mickey spoke his first words on screen, took over that role of a lifetime. We talk about his personal story of becoming the voice of Mickey, the legacy, and the future. What is your favorite personal memory of Mickey Mouse? Was it on TV? In a Disney Park? A piece of merchandise? Share your thoughts in the WDW Radio Clubhouse at WDWRadio.com/Clubhouse, or call the voicemail at 407-900-9391 (WDW1) and share your story on the show. This week, Dr. Kim is talking with Bret Iwan, the voice of Mickey Mouse! Bret Iwan has loved the legacy and story of Walt Disney for as long as he can remember, but never dreamt he would one day voice Walt's most iconic character, Mickey Mouse. Iwan decided to pursue his love of art at Ringling College of Art and Design. Shortly after, he moved to Kansas City, to begin a career at Hallmark Greeting Cards. After learning of auditions being held to understudy with the third voice of Mickey Mouse, Wayne Allwine, Iwan wasted no time submitting his high pitched performance. Since 2009, Iwan has been the official voice of Mickey Mouse, providing the famous falsetto for Disney theme parks around the world, video games, toys, promotional material, game shows, live shows, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (2009-2016), Mickey and the Roadster Racers (2017-2019), Mickey's Mixed Up Adventures (2019), and Mickey Mouse Funhouse (2021) television series. When Iwan is not performing behind the microphone, he continues his passion for design, as well as wood working, restoration, and steam locomotive engineering. Since 2017, Iwan has worked as a steam mechanic, and engineer on several railroads, and is currently building his own steam locomotive, much like Walt Disney did. The opportunities presented by the role continue to surprise him, and he looks forward to “fillin' in for the boss” far into the future. Iwan resides in Los Angeles, California.

A mouse and a bat walk into a convention center... The post Ep. 112 – Bret Iwan & Kevin Conroy at GalaxyCon Minneapolis first appeared on Fancy Pants Gangsters.
Big stars are headed to three new Disney holiday specials, Yvette Nicole Brown hosts a silly kids game show for Disney+, a must-see new exhibit opens inside Epcot's Morocco Pavilion Gallery, and Bret Iwan, the voice of Mickey Mouse, reveals how he landed his role, the first thing he voiced, and how he came to own a Darth Vader mask.
Bret Iwan has been the official voice of Mickey Mouse for the last 10 years and is only the fourth voice actor in Mickey's lifetime to officially play the role (first was Walt Disney, then Jimmy MacDonald, then Wayne Allwine). Whether it's Disney on Ice, a new attraction in the Disney Parks, a video game, TV show or animated short, Bret is the one who gets to bring Mickey's voice to life. In this episode, I have the honor of interviewing Bret as we discuss his love of Disney from the time he was a kid, his original career interests, how he came to play the role of Mickey, and what it means to play the most iconic character in history. The WDW Radio Show - Your Walt Disney World Information Station
Partners Statue DSI: Disney Scene Investigation and Interview with the voice of Mickey Mouse, Bret Iwan Hello and welcome to The WDW Radio Show - Your Walt Disney World Information Station. I am your host, Lou Mongello, and this is show #219 for the week of April 24, 2011. Walt Disney once said that he hoped that we don't lose sight of one thing - that it was all started by a mouse. This week, we’ll remember just that fact, as I have two segments that both involve Mickey Mouse. First, we’ll venture into the Magic Kingdom, and explore not an attraction, land, shop or show, but a single location. In fact, a single statute. In this week’s DSI: Disney Scene Investigation, we will look at the history and story behind the iconic Partners statue of Walt and Mickey, located in the central hub. The legacy of, and bond between Walt and Mickey goes far beyond one of simply artist and creation. In fact, Walt actually lent his voice to his most famous work as far back as 1929. Over the years, Walt passed that torch to other men who became the voice of Mickey, and this week, I have a chance to talk with Bret Iwan, the man, who eighty years after Mickey spoke his first words on screen, took over that role of a lifetime. We’ll talk about his personal story of becoming the voice of Mickey, the legacy, and the future. I’ll have some additional information for you, then play more of your voicemails at the end of the show, so sit back, relax, and enjoy this week's episode of the WDW Radio Show. You can email the show at lou@wdwradio.com or call the voicemail TOLL FREE at 888-703-2171.
